When did we stop getting manicures because we wanted "fancy" nails?…read moreWhy do we have to insist on it with each finger nail service? It's been a while since I've had a proper manicure unprompted. Thanh at Light Street Nail Salon is thorough. She MANICURES my nails like they're going for inspection. At each visit, whenever I think she's finished, she'd hold my hand up and do more checking, nipping, massaging etc etc etc My only concern is my cuticles don't like to be snipped especially during the cold months. They retaliate like SHXT and I'm left with hangnails which is so tempting to cut but then when will the vicious cycle end? I digress The salon is small and tidy the techs and customers mature. It's truly a space where you can unwind, scroll your apps uninterrupted or engage in some small chit chat. I like the space. They're also affordable and don't use gimmicks to hike up their prices. AnnnnD, the price quoted at the start is STILL the price at the end of the service. Can I get an Amen!? Very nice salon. 4.5 The End.

There was a younger lady there who wanted to do my eyebrows, but I asked for the other lady that usually does my eyebrows. The lady who usually does my eyebrows was just on and off the phone laughing and joking as I'm sitting there waiting. I was the only customer in there. After waiting for nearly 20 minutes, I left. She had this look on her face like oh well. Didn't care for my business at all. I won't ever go back again.

The salon does not use the electric nail drill at all. The gel manicure is done solely with a regular nail file and a soak. It was very gentle and very thorough. I've always thought the wax is much better and cleaner feeling than what I've gotten at nail places. I get eyebrow, lip, and bikini, which usually takes about 30 minutes total and seems reasonable. I do have a wax pass but the prices seem a little high (almost $100 for the services above + tip). The front staff is nice and it's easy to rebook. There's free parking in the lot behind it. I have only been to a few other wax places but this is still my favorite!

The waxing person didn't know what services I had rsvped for, attempted to tint my brows clearly not knowing what she was doing, and ignored my revoking consent and bodily autonomy when I asked her to stop my Brazilian because it was too painful. I am home from my appointment and still bleeding and have to walk around with stupid looking eyebrows until they eventually fade. It was a nice gesture, but why would I ever come back here?

I had never gotten either of these services before so I had a lot of questions which Kayla answered patiently and personably. She has such a friendly and bubbly personality! The eyelash tint was a little uncomfortable for me but this may be because I was wearing contacts. I probably would take those out next time and maybe even consider a lift and tint since the tint by itself looked nice but was really subtle. Kayla made me feel very comfortable for the spray tan and did an excellent job with the color and tone. I was obsessed! It definitely faded a bit after the third or fourth day but to be fair, I was on vacation and swimming in the ocean and pool a lot. All together the services were $65 which I don't think is bad at all. I'd definitely return and would recommend booking at this local biz!
