I go here regularly for builder gel (for whatever reason, I can't find a lot of shops that do it on this side of town). I believe Nick is the manager, and he does the best job. However, even if I set up an appointment in their online system, when I show up, they will assign me to whomever. Kim, an older nail tech, is nice but she is rough and her work is inconsistent. I went today and my hands are still stinging. Interestingly enough, this is probably the best manicure I've received from her. Other times the builder gel has been too thick. They frequently pair me with her even if I request someone else. There is another young lady in there who does a decent job. I had a very disappointing experience at this nail salon. Less than an hour after leaving, one of my nails had already popped off. I went back to have them fix it, but the technician who originally did my nails was very rough with my hand during the repair, making the experience even more uncomfortable. To make matters worse, just two days later, my nails started falling off again. I paid to have my nails done properly, and the quality of the work was unacceptable. When I lived in the area I used to come here for my nails. The pedicures here are great, they clean your feet well and cut the cuticles good. They're very nice and it's peaceful inside. I however wouldn't recommend getting acrylics done here, my set was uneven and my finger nail was getting infected due to lack of sealing. If you do check the nail tech's portfolio first. read more

I've come to MV nails a few times now. The first was about a year ago when I had a pedicure with Henry right before I left for a vacation. I loved this pedicure and felt like Henry did a great job. His attention to detail was appreciated and the pedicure lasted quite some time. I enjoyed my pedicure with Henry so much that I tried to book another recently. However, his availability was limited as it appeared he only worked on Tuesdays. Instead, I booked an appointment with someone named Nancy. The day of my appointment, I waited for about 15 minutes until a person, who was not Nancy but was named Trang, started my pedicure. It had been a while since I had a pedicure and he made me feel a little bad about the condition of my feet. To be clear, I had just the regular dry dead skin that most people have when they come in for a pedicure but I think he was trying to upsell me on a more expensive pedicure service. This made me feel uncomfortable. The next time I booked an appointment, I made sure to avoid Trang and again, tried to book with Henry. I got a Tuesday appointment but then a few days beforehand, I received a call from MV telling me they aren't open on Tuesdays and to reschedule my appointment. I thought this was odd since their online scheduling system allowed me to book for a Tuesday. The pedicure I received was done by Vivian. I enjoyed the pedicure and she really spent her time on the massage which was lovely. However, her application of the white nail polish was extremely sloppy. The clear polish I got on my nails was nice and I liked the shape she filed them in but both the pedicure and manicure didn't last long. In about 5 days, my nail polish was chipping on my toes and nails. For spending about $75 on both the services, I would expect them to last at least two weeks. Since my experiences have been so mixed here, I'll sadly be avoiding MV nails in the future. read more

Today was my 4th visit! My first begin with Nick (was scheduled for Ro) and he completed both of my usual services. I LOVED IT! The salon is upscale compared to some of the shops I've been to here. My second visit I scheduled Ro who I thought was Nick so I had a mini moment but I went along with it and Ro is actually very decent as well. His pedicures are AWESOME (peppermint). So I get him now which is perfect. I've experienced the cheapest pedicure as well and it's just as nice if you don't need all the frills. I went back after 1.5 days because the chipping reached insane levels (photo shown is chipping less than 24 hrs after I got them done originally). I had a different person redo them and photos are as attached. While he did redo them better than initially they still remain slightly uneven though thankfully much improved to the original that were wildly uneven and streaky. He told me the reason they chipped was because I didn't dry them long enough initially even though I dried them well over 30 minutes. Furthermore he did try to tell me they were uneven because my nails are uneven but I know seeing his attempt it's possible to at least do a decent job compared to before. I will not be returning to this nail salon but I'm glad this is over with and I at least have decent nails for my birthday. read more

DO NOT GET A MANICURE FROM ANYONE BUT NICK!!!! Pedicures are a different story but I am very disappointed. Nick is amazing for sure, my nails will last 3-4 weeks when he does them for me! So this is not to throw shade on the entire business. I had a woman do my nails last time, they looked "ok" --way rounder than I would have liked for coffin shape. The pedicure was one of the BEST so I will give her that. I paid over $100 for a full set and a pedicure. 4 days later my pinky nail fell off so I went back to get it fixed and I had to wait 45 minutes to get served. Granted, I just walked in without an appointment on a Friday- but it is their fault for doing a bad job from the start. I am now only 7 days out since I got my full set and two more fingers came off!!!!!! (see photos, it is now my other pinky and middle finger) I have NEVER in my 10 years of getting acrylics had 3 nails come off in the same week!!!!! without any pain... just popped right off. I now feel afraid that if I go get it fixed I will be charged so I will be rocking bandaids for now. Please do yourself a favor and if you're gonna go to MV nails for a acrylic full set or a fill avoid everyone but Nick at all costs so you don't spend an arm and a leg for a manicure. The only reason I come here and pay $15 more than other local spa's is because of the quality I have experienced on prior visits, but I don't think I'll be back unless I get Nick specifically. 100% my weakest manicure I have ever had. I just went on Sunday, 6/5/2022 and today as I write this, it's 6/6/2022. So, I'm going to give the 2 stars just for getting the paint on the nails and the pedicure was good up until the nail polish. In general the nail polish on my hands and toes were sloppy. And my big toe had a little crack in it before I even left and I addressed it. She bent down to fix it and it still was not fixed. Onto the nails, something about Matte polish REALLY reveals all of the imperfections of a nail. And when I was on my way home, I really looked at my nails and they were not very good. The nail shapes were inconsistent, the lengths are different, and the polish job was SLOPPY. Anytime I tried to ask her to go back and fix it she either couldn't understand what I was asking or she tried to fix it but still didn't do it very well. Summary: I like my nails but I won't be going back. Here's why: I don't care for business that don't greet their guests and they're unorganized. I made a reservation for 6pm earlier that day. I show up at 5:50pm. When I walked in, no one was at the front desk and none of the nail techs even looked up to acknowledge me. I sat for about 20 minutes before someone else walked in and they asked the wait time and a nail tech then finally asked me what help I needed. I wasn't seated until 6:35pm. While I was waiting I was watching them shuffle all their clients around so frequently. I couldn't make sense of it. Someone would finish getting their toes done and then be sat to dry and the tech would go to someone else and start their nails, then finish that set of nails and go back to the person who just had the pedicure. It was just so out of order and everyone appeared to be waiting for something. Jump to my gel fill-in... One nail had a chip in the side so he completely removed the acrylic by scrapping it off and then applied a new tip. I don't even think removing the nail was necessary but it was whatever at the time. I liked how he took his time filing and smoothing my nail beds down after applying the overlay. I feel that part is rushed at salons sometimes and then you come out with a lumpy manicure. But I HATE techs that don't have you wash your hands in between the filing and applying the polish. It just doesn't make sense to me. And on top of that he didn't even buff my nails. He went straight from filing to painting. Insanity. All in all I left about an hour later and I ended up paying $45 for a gel fill-in that's listed on their brochure at $37. Like I said, I liked my nails but I won't be returning. read more

I sat, thinking I'd be serviced soon. Unfortunately, red polish spilled over my hands & vintage coat. The man in the black polo shirt w/ glasses, saw, did nothing. I asked a man in a cream shirt & sandals for help, after I'd gotten a towel from the sink. He literally acted like I was the problem & tossed the acetone at me, snatching the towel, throwing paper towels in my lap. An older woman seeing me getting ready to leave, was shocked, & said she could service me... "I spilled fingernail polish on me & no one helped." before I left. It was 1:23PM. It was obvious either they didn't have the time available to provide a service. Nonetheless, not a "Hi, How are you, you can hang your coat here, someone will be w/ you?" or anything... I get there at opening on a Sunday and there were 3 other people there. I didn't have to wait. I got a pedicure and a manicure with dip powder. I didn't get the man's name who did my nails but he was GREAT! Super attentive and friendly. He also worked fast. I got there at 11 and was gone by 12:30. He made sure that I liked what I got done, which is something nice to ask given that dip powder can sometimes have a different color than expected. My nails look awesome and I'm excited to see how long they last. The salon is also clean, modern, and on trend. Will definitely go back in the future. I do have two suggestions for anyone going: 1. If you don't make an appointment, come early. By the time I left, all of the chairs were full with people being serviced. 2. This was a bummer and somewhat annoying, but you can't give tip via card. I decided to try them out again, hoping I had just one bad experience. I walked in on a Sunday as soon as they opened and I was helped right away. I picked one of the pricier pedicures since I tried the same one at a different location and loved it. The pedicure was okay, but I wasn't impressed. The woman who did it didn't file my toe nails so they were still long and naturally shaped by the end. I got a dip color manicure for the first time so I was new to that experience (would definitely recommend). For one thing, the woman got one of my colors wrong - instead of 86 she picked 68, or something alone those lines (an understandable mistake). But since I'm new to the process, I figured the powder would look darker once hardened on my nails and I didn't catch her mistake until it was too late. I also asked if she could cut my cuticles since I have pretty bad cuticles. She told me it would be extra and I said that was fine (since they're about 1/3 of my nail length). But she just continued on without cutting them down. In the end, I had paid $100 and walked away with pretty ugly nails. They were supposed to be two similar shades of gray, and would've looked longer had my cuticles been cut down. At least now I'm confident in my decision not to return here. read more

I recently moved to Baltimore and after successfully finding a new hairstylist, it was time to find a new nail salon. I came in a little after 10 AM on a Saturday. Nick immediately greeted me upon entry and directed me to their color options. The salon has tons of dip powder, gel, and regular polish colors to choose from. I chose a nude/sparkle polish for my feet and nude/glitter dip powders for my hands. There were two other technicians in the salon at the time and one of them was immediately available to assist me. First, I got a standard pedicure w/ callous remover. I didn't get the name of the technician who did my pedicure, but she did a great job. Nick was the technician for my full set. I decided to get an acrylic dip powder ombré set with tips (medium length). Although I feel like dip powder takes longer than traditional acrylic application, Nick worked fast and finished my nails within an hour. I'm not sure if Nick's a manager or owner, but he was very professional in his interactions over the phone, with customers, and other technicians. Very professional! I came here yesterday to try the SNS powder manicure. My sister told me about this place and she loved it. I made an appointment on Yelp and I called in just to make sure I was on the list. When I arrived they greeted me and asked me to sign in and to choose a color. They have a lot of SNS colors which is impressive, I read other people reviews about different nails salons and they only had a few. This place has light to dark colors, so you have a lot to choose from. After I signed in I was seated for about 10 minutes before Nikki came. He asked me have I had any gel or sns before and I said no. I heard gel damages your nails so that's why I chose SNS which has nutrients and vitamins which is healthier and more expensive $45. Any who the whole process took maybe 30-40 which was pretty cool, it's a little thicker than gel but I love the look. Nikki was such a sweetheart, he's very nice and honest about the whole deal. The inside looks brand new and clean, they have a lot of pedicure stations. Overall my experience was fantastic, I definitely recommend Nikki! FYI the parking situation is terrible!
