I would give A-List beauty no stars if I could. I hired them for hair and makeup for my wedding. The trial could not have gone worse. It. Was. A. Joke. A lot of these places have you pay a significant amount of money to do a trial (like $500) because it creates a psychological motivation to continue to do business with them (the sunk cost fallacy). Ladies do not be victim to this- even if you paid $500 and the trial goes poorly, do not give them more money! I paid the non refundable deposit to Ariel Lewis, and gladly paid another company $1,500 just to not look (and more importantly FEEL) like I did after my trial with A-List. The other company was professional, kind, used actual beauty products (see below), let me watch what they were doing, and were friendly. Find a company that works with you for your big day. Not works you for the paycheck. Hopefully this will save you the $500 trial with A-List: Let's start with hair. The biggest red flag was that she wouldn't let me watch while she was doing my hair so that I could be "surprised" - I was surprised all right. She admitted to me she had not looked at the inspo pics they asked me to send in, and asked to see them. She looked at the first one and said "K I got it." She didn't have it, because what was created was a departure from my looks. It wasn't a terrible style if it had been done well. I mentioned concern about the longevity of the look day of, and she said confidently it would last even though I could feel the pins slipping. I said repeatedly my hair texture is fine and doesn't hold curl. She said "Not the way I curl" and then put wax in it to "help." Everyone with fine hair knows wax weighs it down. It did not last. Not even through 90 min minutes of sitting still and getting makeup done (much less a whole wedding...). My trial was done at 11:30am and by 1:30pm my hair had fallen out of the bun into the two sad looped pony tails she had used to create the look, and was in straight tendrils around my face. Not a curl in sight. Even the initial finished looked was frizzy and you could obviously see pins. The best part was that the A-List makeup trial was after hair and she came in and asked "what time my hair trial was?" hahah. "Oh you couldn't tell it just happened? Your teammate just gave me an updo, obviously!" Lol Next was makeup. Ladies. They used E.L.F products. Correct- the products you buy for your nieces and occasionally find at the dollar store. I get it, this isn't the main event, it's just the trial so maybe they use different products day of? If so, that negates the purpose of the trial... I want to have my shades matched and confirmed which is part of the trial one would think. I paid for airbrush makeup- she did zero prep the skin. She pulled the machine out and started spraying- didn't even pin my face framing hair pieces back so there was a distinct line not blended around my face where my hair had been. The airbrush went on cakey and flakey and actually aged me about 10 years. It's not for every skin type so that's part of it, but at least try and prep the skin. I sent Hailey Bieber natural dewey inspo and she did old church lady rosy pink cheeks I am not kidding. Bright. Pink. And round. I looked like a toy soldier, even after I asked her to keep blending. The whole thing was a joke. It also didn't last despite paying for airbrush- which I was grateful for because I would not have gone out looking like that. When I reached out to Ariel Lewis to tell them I would not be using them for my wedding and talk about how disappointed I was, I was intercepted by an admin. Interestingly, I didn't ask for a refund but the very first thing the admin said when I said I wouldn't be moving forward was that I wouldn't get a refund. This exchange told me a lot about how they do business and their priorities. I asked to speak to Ariel to provide feedback. I never heard from her. Guess it's on me to keep reaching out? I was then told I could do the trial again with the same artists. Nah I'm good... If it were my business with my name on it- I would be embarrassed by this. Pics below of hair. I didn't want my face out there on the internet so I didn't post makeup. So- ladies, save yourself the money with A-List. Unless you want a good laugh- My Maid of Honor was there and we still get out the "after" pictures so we can have a good chuckle over wine. Very POOR Customer Service. Extremely POOR communication. Why does a company refuse to list itself on Google? So they can avoid all the negative reviews. So it's not a surprise that A-List has no Google listing and minimal reviews available... do the math. It doesn't add up to a reliable and professionally behaving company. read more

I cannot thank Ariel from A-List Beauty Team enough for coming through for me on such short notice. After missing my flight to Baltimore for my brother's wedding the previous evening, I was unable to get into Baltimore until two hours prior to the start of my brother's wedding. Therefore, I had to cancel my makeup appointment because the MUA was unable to accommodate me at a later time. After emailing and calling multiple makeup artists and having no luck finding anyone that would be able to fit me in at such short notice I was beginning to feel very stressed out. Ariel was able to book me with the most talented MUA, Nichelle, and completely saved the day for me. My eyes were puffy from lack of sleep the night prior and I have never felt so pretty after my appointment with Nichelle. She was SO professional, patient and did EXACTLY what I wanted. If only Nichelle lived in LA, I would have her do my makeup for every special occasion. Huge hugs and thank you's to Ariel and Nichelle. You saved the day! read more

FINALLY!! The AList is what dreams are made of! I've used their services a few times now and won't ever go back to going out to get my hair and/or makeup done for a special (or every day!) event. Need a great blow out at 7am before a big meeting? THEY COME TO YOU AND DO IT!! Great hours and convenience. Most importantly, The AList only employs the best of the best (IMHO). Everyone I've worked with there has been so amazingly talented - hair and makeup! The ladies are so friendly and knowledgeable and give some great helpful hints as they go along. Update: received email asking me to remove this review. I said I am sorry, it's an accurate honest account of what went down. They can use this as a learning experience in the way they treat future potential clients. My review isn't coming down, sorry. They insisted on 100% payment BEFORE services. I can understand wanting 50% deposit on a new client but being paid in full for work not done yet? Hmmm. That was first red flag. The emails are sent from a different name than the person that signs it. Also another sketchy red flag! And the total lack of concern about the client's needs. No questions were ever asked in regards to what look was wanted. Every other artist we've dealt with asks that. It shows interest. It shows desire in wanting to please the client. Yet another red flag. After they insisted on up front payment, I let them know I was uncomfortable with this. But, I decided to forge forward. They insisted I complete an invoice, that took nearly a week for me to receive. I called Ariel to inform her that I had received the invoice but there was a discrepancy. The invoice had payment due on one date and the email from Joshua, their accounts manager had listed another date for payment due. She answered with a vacant "uh-huh." She acted as if she didn't really get what I was saying, until about fifteen seconds later. I asked if they had the address where they were supposed to arrive. I had already provided it but wanted to ensure they had it. She said she needed to check and see if they had the address. Why didn't she just grab a pen so I could give it to her again, immediately? Red flags whipping in the wind everywhere I look at this point. An hour later, Alexis, using Stephania's email account (wtf?) emailed me, asking me to confirm my receipt of the invoice....there was no mention of confirming the address of the event. Luckily another hair and makeup artist whom we love and trust let us know she could do the job. She also said it is not standard industry practice to insist on receiving full payment up front. What a headache this has been. They post nice photos and seem to have the talent and ability. However. They lack people skills which is just as important as technical skills. Instead of acting like a team they act like too many cooks burning the broth. And boy. Did they ever leave a bad taste in my mouth. Big epic fail. Strongly do NOT recommend. PS. Is it just me or do quite a few glowing reviews here read the same, very similar in punctuation, usage of exclamation points, and very few numbers of reviews they've made elsewhere? My daughter and I were extremely happy with our make up and hair experience. Amanda was talented, professional, warm and creative. She asked for "looks" ahead of time for both hair and make up ideas for my daughter and I. We were celebrating a special family event and we looked fantastic at the event and in the pictures. After a bad trial with another company, my best friend (the bride) found out about Ariel through a friend who previously had her makeup/hair done for her wedding. The studio was chicly decorated and beautiful! I was so impressed with their professionalism and customer service! Stacie was so engaging and enthusiastic when discussing hair, she went over everything we needed to know about achieving the desired look. The results were exactly what the bride wanted. I used Airbrush Makeup by Ariel for my wedding this past September. Jodi was wonderful and I would highly recommend her! Jodi not only did my makeup but also my bridal party, and everyone was very happy with how the end result. For my trial Jodi was able to come to my house the morning of my bridal shower. She was on time for the appointment and had my makeup finished in a timely manner. She referenced the pictures I gave her and then adapted the look to best fit my features and style. I would 100% use Jodi again. Last week I had a 2 hour make up lesson with Amanda, one of the A-List artists. Wow! I am so happy I invested in this. Amanda asked what my goals were and examined all the make up I brought with me. Step by step she did half my face and I did the other half. The few tricks of the trade she taught me were well worth the lesson price. New products were not pushed - Amanda identified what I had that would work and where another product would be better. I got the usual face chart but also a little video explaining my eye make up in detail (not just what colors but what brush and tips too) and a list of pointers.
