Went to Top Spect Auto today for a diagnostic on my car. They got my car right in; test drove and after a few additional questions they got right to work. To my surprise they found the issue with low fluid. Top Spect didn't charge me for the extra 15-20 minutes over the free 30 diagnostic check (mention of finding them on yelp) nor did they charge for the top off of the low fluid. Amazing customer service! During the diagnostic inspection they offered me, my husband and kids cold water on a hot day. All smiles here. You get a sense for a garages work by the clients they keep. When I walked in and saw souped up Subaru's, I knew I was at the right place. I'm a guy who does all of my own mechanic work, so naturally it's hard for me to trust that someone will do as good of a job as I will. I did a TON of research before choosing Top Spec. These guys did an amazing job on my 2001 Montero Limited. It's a fairly rare truck in the US and not many folks know how to work on them. I found myself in a predicament where I didn't have the time to fix a coolant leak, which required essentially taking the top half of the motor off. With that said I went ahead and had them do the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs etc... Chris who worked on my truck did an outstanding job. Raymond was super friendly and helpful. Seriously top notch work (which explains why they have a 5 star rating). I just recently had my break pad replaced here. I asked Chris, the mechanic who works on my car if my rotor needs to be turned. He inspected the car and said that my rotor is in good condition and I do not need to do anything, just replace the break pad. Our Acura MDX was showing a message about our battery. I called and they told me to bring it in right at closing time and they would take a look at it. The message was gone by the time I got there but they took the time to run the diagnostics on it. As we standing there I said that when you opened the driver's door the interior lights didn't come on. They looked at and said they would order the part. When we brought our daughter's 09 VW Bug to fix a check engine light, they fix the interior light problem without charging us. They very thorough on the VW and very reasonably priced. My Subaru needed a 60k service and I called around to the various Subaru dealerships and their quotes were all over the place and way too high. I gave them a call in the morning, and they were able to accommodate my drop off right away! TC with Top Spec was straightforward and honest in the his quote, and even gave me multiple options on they type of parts I wanted to use. After dropping off my car, I got a text from them regarding my brake pads being worn down and needed to be swapped out, along with pictures showing that this was indeed the case. Don't you love it when you find a great mechanic?! I do! These guys were phenomenal. I called on a Thursday and told them about my car troubles, and they were able to fit me in for a free diagnostic session that afternoon. When I drove up and parked on the lot, the people in the office were extremely friendly and listened carefully to what was wrong with my car. They took it back to have a look, and came back within 30 minutes with a diagnosis. 30 minutes! They then ordered the part for my car (a new muffler) and we set up a time for the following Wednesday for it to be installed. They quoted me a number, and sent me on my way. Come Wednesday, I gave them a call to confirm the appointment, and then dropped by with my car. Barely 40 minutes later they were finished, and I had a smooth running vehicle again. The end amount I was charged was exactly what they quoted me, AND they gave me homemade madeleines while I waited. Friendly, honest service with free food and smiles, AND a working car? This place may be small but they have excellent knowledge about all sorts of mechanical work no matter what kind of car you bring in. I brought my truck in to have a timing belt kit installed and Raymond, the service rep who works there, was very friendly and pointing out many things that needed to be done which I did not know about during my time there. He also recommended me a particular brand named part I needed to have my car in good standing which in my opinion, why this place is an A+. It is hard to find a trusted mechanic shop out there, so from my experience at Top Spec I would recommend this place to anyone needs work done. This is not the kind of shop out there that would try to rip you off and rush just to get the job done. These people are very passionate about their work and will do whatever it takes to make their customer happy. Update... Chris the mechanic is amazing. I had some braking troubles and the Honda dealer (I have a Civic) said I needed all new brake pads. I took the car afterwards to Top Spec and Chris actually took the time to figure out the problem (it was a spot of rust). He sent me on my way in twenty minutes after filing off the rust. Top Spec for the win again! ------------------- I can't say enough good things about Top Spec Auto and Raymond, the manager, in particular. I made a suboptimal deal on a used car off of craigslist and Top Spec Auto has been fantastic helping me get my car back on the road. The customer service is as fantastic as their mechanics. Top Spec Auto is a great shop, dealer and honest business. I had my Porsche in their for a brake service. I was able to call ahead and get the brake parts I wanted ordered. The manufacturer unfortunately sent the wrong parts, however I was very impressed at Top Spec's professionalism and still being able to take care of me the same day. I had already planned to drop my vehicle off, and they reached out to their network of contacts to find the right parts I wanted. My car was still completed that same day and earlier than expected!! I've been to Top Spec many times. I personally have hard time dealing with other auto shops, and it may requires a leap of faith. However, they are kind, patient and trust-worth. Their mechanics are willing to go through the problems that need to be fixed. Additionally, they pay close attention on diagnosing and repairing your car. Prompt reply to my message on Yelp and they did a 30 minute diagnosis for free. The free diagnosis along with their good reviews is why I chose them out of the many shops I contacted. It turned out my spark plugs needed replaced which they did and my vehicle is running better than it has been since I bought it 5 months ago and the power and mpg have improved significantly. The only issue I have is the minute I drove off the lot, I heard an annoying sound coming from under my hood about every minute and it hasn't stopped. I took it back and the mechanic said it is my air conditioner/heater. I have no clue how it only started after the spark plugs were replaced and hope whatever the issue is won't be an expensive fix. Visiting from out of town and needed an oil change. Saw all the great reviews on Yelp and the great price on the oil change. Dropped my car off first thing in the morning and the mechanic confirmed that my "maintenance req'd" light referred to the oil change. Service was fast. I went to get breakfast and they were finished with my car before I got back. Communication wasn't so great, though. The mechanic didn't tell me that my oil change would be MUCH more expensive - nearly 3 time the advertised price! - because my car only takes synthetic oil. Thankfully, the shop honored my original expectations. I also didn't receive a report on other items indicated in the advertisement - free tire rotation, suspension check, light check, radiator and coolant check. I wasn't having any problems with the car (other than the maint req'd light) beforehand, and I needed to go. I had to come update my review because I saw they received a one -star and I'm beside myself I can't believe it. These guys just recently saw me at the last minute due to a check engine light and they were able to get me in same day! They changed my spark plugs and kept me in the loop the whole service, overestimating how much time it would take -- I ended up being in and out in under an hour. I have never been to any other mechanic that will keep you in the loop, never overcharges, always checks other issues just in case (like when I had them change my oil and they just did a look over without me even asking). I took my car in to get a couple leaks taken care of and they let know couple other issues with the car and gave me a quote on those too. With the repairs on my car Chris ran in to a couple unforeseen issues which made a take some extra time and didnt charge me extra. Very fair amount of time regardless. Called ahead to schedule an appointment for Saturday, this place is one of the few that are open on Saturdays, Chris the mechanic, told me Saturdays is the busiest day of the week for them but kindly accommodate me.
