I really enjoyed eating at Top Restaurant! It's a shame that they only serve to-go and have such a long wait. Even though I was expecting around a 30-45 minute wait, it ended up being an hour or so on a Saturday night. The cashier was really kind, but unfortunately with how many person were on the phone and waiting in line in person, one person isn't enough to man the register and the phone. I would love to come back one day if customers are able to get food faster but for now, it was nice to try while in Pasadena. read more

Doesn't really get better than this. I just come here for the hawaiian food so I can't talk about the whole menu but it hits the spot

4 Stars for now (only 1 visit so far), very possibly 5 Stars in the future - I do plan to return and sample more of their dishes. The service is quite friendly here, and the food is decent (I tried the Seafood Combo with Ribs). I would not mind if they were less stingy with their complimentary sauce portions. I also would not mind if they didn't go with commercially-sourced packets of "Chef's Quality"-brand tartar sauce for their seafood). Parking in front was easy to obtain. Unfortunately, (at the time of this writing) you can only get the food to go - they technically have tables and chairs inside, but they are not currently set up for customers to dine-in. :( read more

Good & delicious foods, and friendly service. I always call first for pick up. I don't think you can dine in. If you are craving chicken, you should try their crunchy chicken (I think that's the name) or Ayam Kremes, by itself, no rice. Just cook your own rice at home. CRISPIEST FRIED CHICKEN I've ever had IN MY LIFE!!! Chicken glistens and is ridiculously crispy. Ive never craved fried chicken till this place- Chefs kiss! Indonesian fried rice is also delicious and has a great kick to it if you like spice - we get spicy but beware it is spicy. Fried rice is also topped with an egg. Staff is always SO kind and friendly. When you phone order they love to clarify and run your order back to you, they're thorough. I wouldn't get the short ribs again but HIGHLY recommend the chicken & rice. There isn't really a dining area to eat inside so you have to take it to go. My Tip if you don't live nearby: I take my chicken to Chick fil A, order a soda and fries or Mac & cheese and we eat there sometimes haha. We saw the raving reviews for this place and decided to check it out on a Tuesday night. Upon arrival, we noticed that the restaurant already had a line forming, so we definitely had high expectations coming in. I ordered the Kalua pork, while my sister and cousin got the loco moco and chicken katsu. Our orders didn't take long to be done and it was worth the wait!! The pork and beef were juicy while all the meals were flavorful. Make sure you use the sauce or it'll be bland for the katsu and pork. The best part was how affordable each dish was, given the portion size. The portions were filling and plentiful. The cashier, Miss Lily was super nice and accommodating. She noticed we were thirsty and would ask us if we wanted water/refills for the water. Also, there seemed to be a lot of regulars here. I'd say this place is worth the hype (and would argue that it's underrated). I would love to try the other dishes the next time I'm around. This is going to be one of my go-to spots! read more

Every time I go to Hawaii I order my favorite meal the Loco Moco. Anytime I find a restaurant that offers it on the mainland- that's what I end up ordering. This place is literally a hole in the wall and they only offer take out. They could add a few small tables and chairs for indoor dining but that is not offered. After my order was placed I received my meal in less than 15 minutes. My mini Loco Moco order was more than enough food to fill me up and it was sizzling hot when I received it and I had to wait for it to cool down. I think the Indonesian cuisine they have is pretty good. The crispy fried chicken is crispy as the name said. A little bit fishy/gamey and slightly lacked depth, but the crisp is a delight. The spam musubi left nothing to desire over the hawaiian grill though. It tastes like just some rice and spam and a bit of soy sauce. Although that maybe the main ingredients of a musubi, but the version they had doesn't give the usual comfort of great musubis out there. The store is located in a Plaza and plenty of parking. Huge servings i love love their mac! Protip: sub out rice for double mac! Prices have gone up with quality going down. After being a loyal customer, I get that the food quality especially the bbq chicken has been going down. Large portions and cheap prices!!! Was a long day because our niece had 2 birthdays and was too tired to go out so my cousin decided to order and do pickup. I chose the musubi and Kahlua Pork. The musubi was good and huge, enough spam and rice proportion was perfect! Not too much rice and a sliver of spam like most places . Loco Moco was ok hence the 4 stars, egg was over cooked, patty was hard, but winner was the Kahlua pork was nice and smoky but I wished the cabbage wasn't fresh cut and was cooked with the pork and large enough to have some leftovers. We have been going here for years, the lady in front is super friendly. If you order takeout by phone she will save the number and name on the order. So then each time you call in for a repeat order she will say "hello (name)". Super clever, because this started right after our second or third order. Its a small store, so there is not really a lot of seating in general stiicking with takeout makes more sense. We always look forward to the fried chicken, the breading is crispy and stays that way for a long time. I dont think I have ever had leftovers that became soggy. The sauce included is super savory, if you have had Indonesian food before the style is very consistent. Other dishes we regularly order are the Indonesian fried rice and vermicelli. The portion was decent sized overall but I'm not sure if it's because my expectations were high from reading the reviews but the quality was disappointing. My friend who is Indonesian said both fried dishes lacked spices and they just doused it in oyster sauce to cover it up. I was really excited about the short rib from the bbq mix plate but that was extremely underwhelming. It was a really small piece and really dry. Came here after the feature article in LA Eater. For this visit I only ordered their Indonesian food, will try Hawaiian food next time. They are very generous with their food, and although I didn't call ahead to order, I think it only took 10 minutes to make 4 orders. Their famous fried chicken had a light crispy batter. My Southeast Asian friend mentioned the fried chicken tasted exactly as how they remembered fried chicken tasted like as a child. Chicken was extremely moist and flavorful. They make a limited amount per day so I guess I got lucky when I dropped by around 3:30pm. Indonesian fried rice and rice noodle with shrimp were both really good with the shrimp being fresh and on the larger side. Highly recommend the red curry beef (rendang) with egg. Beef was extremely soft and melts in your mouth. Very addicting with rice. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. They are in a strip mall at the corner of Allen and Colorado with a decent size parking lot. No issues finding space. This Hawaiian BBQ is the best! I bought the family meal pack. This meal fed a dimly of 5 with leftovers for lunch. First, the Katsu was amazing light and crunchy with flavor it also came with a light honey sauce. The Hawaiian bbq chicane was so good as well it wasn't overly flavorful. I am not a teriyaki person, I have to admit this was one of my favorites. It wasn't too sweet and the sauce was light and flavorful. I can't forget the Hawaiian macaroni salad which is so good. It's not overly season and it was perfect. All of this meal came together with some white rice. If you are in Pasadena area it's a must. It is a take out only. The owners are very nice too. Ok, that was sorta gross, even to me..... Back to the food. The rice is really tasty, egg on top. We got the medium spice level, honestly I thought it was not very spicy. But have I mentioned the Sriracha blood? But the chicken?? Amazing as almost everyone has said. I do not know how they do it, but I wish they made more of it. Crispy, moist, delish. They limit the orders for some reason. I don't know why...maybe I can offer to get them more chicken storage space?
