I got so such and tired of eating it midway and I didn't even fill up my plate compared to most other customers. Adding chili sauce to it helps. I'll keep this one simple: Took my car to Toyota Pasadena for service. They said it's going to take two hours. I went to get Mongolian AYCE (cause honestly, I've never had it before). Was greeted by very kind people. They sat me down, gave me bread, rice, soup, and got my drink. I went up and got noodles, veggies, and beef. Took that plate down. Went back up and got Rice, Veggies, and Chicken. Took that plate down. Then went back up for more Noodles, Veggies, and Beef. Took that plate down. Food was good, especially for the price! I think it's $19.99 for dinner. I went back today and got takeout which was on the more expensive side since it's 60 cents per ounce. They offer a wide variety of self serve meats, vegetables, and a sauce bar. The staff was very friendly! You let them know how many plates and if you want take out or dine-in before you grab all your food. If you dine-in, they offer an egg-drop soup plus rice or bread. This place serves such consistent food, with good service, and a great price for an all-you-can-eat meal. I recall coming here with large groups as far back as the mid-2000s and it has always been a pleasant experience. Even seeing other business around this tiny plaza come and go, Mongolian BBQ has been a pillar. I digress-- Two-hour lunch breaks from working at Sears with loaded up buffet plates and pitchers of beer are a fond memory of mine. We always felt welcomed, although objectively it must have been worrisome to see the entire home electronics and appliances departments swarm in and take up the main dining area to eat and be merry. I think we caused them to run out of meats one time... If you load your bowls up properly, one with protein (lamb, beef, chicken, pork) and another with vegetables (bamboo shoots, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, etc.) and douse it in some sauces (teriyaki, house, bbq, sweet, etc.) then you'll have no desire to get a second plate. You'll be stuffed and need a take home box. Part of the experience is watching the chefs cook it all up for you with some noodles. I've also witnessed the chefs accommodate strict vegetarians/vegans and scrub the grill down before cooking a veggie plate on its own. So that it would not touch any meats or have any meat flavors. Pocket bread, egg drop soup, white rice, and rolls can also be ordered separately and added to your buffet experience. Personally, I enjoy a hot tea with this type of meal. There is a larger parking lot on the west side of this building, and there is an entrance along Colorado Blvd. The parking lot that is shared with the liquor store is rather small. This place is so underrated! This is one of our go to places for Mongolian, and it's WAY better than the one in the mall. The veggies are always fresh, meat is decent, and the cooks work so hard and do a great job. The service is actually GREAT here and the staff is genuinely nice. You can tell they've been around for a long time, and have their regulars that come in. The food is really just so simple and so good. I usually add beef and a bunch of veggies. Tip: bring cash for tips! And make sure to tell the cooks beforehand if you don't want (I assume it's diluted soy sauce) added to your stir fry otherwise they'll add it without asking. I also think that's how they prevent it from sticking to the grill but I was on a sodium restriction and didn't tell them in time, oops! Skip the bathroom, haha. Go somewhere else. However, they've gotten really pricey and they have complete control over how much food you get. My buddy asked me to come here with him for nostalgic reasons. He used to eat here when he was in school. That tells you how long they've been around. The late 70's, I recall the owner saying. I've seen this Mongolian Grill restaurant many times when I'm next door at World Market but never walked in. So this was a new experience for me. The concept is simple (in case you've never been to one before) It's self serve, grab a tray and some bowls. Load it up with protein, veggies and sauces and hand it to the grill fellas. They'll cook it and plated it while you wait. Plus, it's ayce so you can repeat the process and try different things. The items are limited, so don't expect a Vegas buffet. For protein, thinly sliced beef, pork, lamp or chicken ... just like hot pot meat. Veggies include spinach, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, tofu and some others. There are about 8 sauces for you to choose from. Confused? You bet I was. Luckily there's a sign above that lists sauce combo suggestions. After the food is done, I hit it with a bit of cumin powder for that extra burst of flavor. To me, their hot oil isn't hot at all, so perhaps skip it to avoid the extra grease. This is not a gourmet meal whatsoever. But for the price and speed, it makes for a quick and filling lunch. I thought of this place as a 3 star, but went up to 4 because the owner is very friendly, the food was cooked quickly and it's at a great price ($15) and that also includes soup, rice and a pita-like pocket bread. You can always decline those extra items if you want to stick with the grill option. * They have a small parking lot. I've been here a couple times in the past for dinner only and I was in I can eat situation, and lunch used to be a one time trip. I kind of like that ayce option now because there's less stress of trying to cram everything into the one bowl that you get. The restaurant itself isn't too big but it is enough for what they do. When you first start off you select all your meat options. They have beef chicken pork and turkey and lamb. Then you go clockwise to the veggie station, there are lot of different options here. Then you head over to get a couple of noodles if you would like. And then next to there is where you have all the different sizes. I always feel like regardless of how much sauce you're not getting it ends up being not enough and the chefs and adding more sauce to the mix anyways. At the table, your served a cup of soup, rice if you would like, and also a savory pastry that you can enjoy with the food. Sometimes the pastry is fluffy enough and you can poke a hole in it and end up making into a food pocket. Overall, this is a great place to get some Mongolian barbecue and to be able to stuff your face for a reasonable price. The decor inside isn't the best but there's character here. But they also have a parking lot in the back as well that I didn't know of. Surprisingly, there was no wait for my party of 8 on a Saturday after 1. This place is what you call a steal, $13.95 for AYCE Mongolian bbq at this age. It's pretty rare. But they do charge a 15% gratuity fee for parties of 8 and more. Surprisingly there was a variety of meats options such as chicken, pork, beef, turkey and lamb to choose from. For the vegetarian option for protein, there was tofu.The vegetables sections were also fresh and plenty. The sauce bar has a bunch of options where you can combine to your liking.
