I read somewhere that Top Pot doesn't make their donuts in store, and only in their main location. Maybe Belltown? So, it explains why the donuts all the way here in Mill Creek aren't that great (dry?), and why some donuts run out and they won't "make them anymore" because... well... they can't? I haven't been inside the store so I can't actually tell if they have the means to actually make donuts. This is what I read somewhere. I've noticed that raised donuts aren't much of a priority and their cakes are more favored in-stock. I liked raised. However, this place is a drive thru, and is the redeeming factor because my toddler is loathe to get out and back into her carseat for short trips. My collection of drive thrulocations is essential and this is my donut drive thru. If it weren't for the drive thru, I'd be making the trip to Frost. I was excited to see a stand alone Top Pot in my area, but this location has a ton of improving to do. My only positive experience has even going inside, but the drive thru is terrible. With kids, I rely on drive thru options and when they aren't great that's a bummer. Experience #1 placing a drive thru order using their menu list. They are out of juice. They are out of 3 types of donuts as I went along changing my order with the cashier. When asked what they had she almost acted as if she didn't feel like listing them but most everything on the menu was out. Experience #2 again they are out of lots of items. I asked about their blended drink on the menu called "cherry blossom" and the woman didn't even know what it was. Couldn't tell me if it was just cherry or some flowery flavor. She had to yell to someone else. She responded by saying they can blend any flavor I want, but I am going based off the flavor listed on the menu. My passenger was ordering tea. She asked what kinds were available and they handed us a menu list. Then after ordering told us it would be 5 minutes to steep the tea. So we asked if they had already made flavors, which they did and we chose one of those, 5 minutes sitting in a drive thru for the tea seems like a long wait with other patrons behind us. Experience #3 ordered a cold brew and a vanilla latte iced. Taking the order proved difficult. She typed in the first item and then waited for our second, but as it turned out she forgot a bunch of questions about the initial drink. On the latte we had to say it 3 times because she didn't catch it all. This is frustrating to continually repeat your order and should be simple and quick for most baristas. Overall, top pot is not the best drive thru coffee in the area. They need to improve their efficiency at the drive thru. Maybe the order window should write on cups instead of the computer if that helps them to get the order figured out. If you're going for donuts... Expect them to be out of a lot of items. They are always out of things. Sorry top pot but you got a lot of kinks to work out. The coffee here is sub par compared to the Redmond location. read more

This place is over rated. I came in a couple times because they are a "Seattle staple" but the donuts are dry and they are ALWAYS out of old fashions. We came in on a Sunday morning at 9:30. If your out of every single old fashion donut by 9:30, the managers are not ordering enough from the Seattle store. I used to work in bakeries so I know how these things are done. The espresso drinks are awful and so is the redbull Italian sodas. The kid who made it didn't even use redbull. They used the sparkling soda "for regular Italian sodas" and didn't mix it properly so it blew up through the hole in the lid.... Such a shame really. Two standard donuts were $5.55! I've been a few times and tried a variety of their donuts and I haven't found any that were tasty enough to justify the price. Last time I had a maple bar, which was decent, and an old-fashioned chocolate covered which was pretty meh. There are quite a few donut places that I can get a half dozen of much fresher donuts for the price of two donuts from Top Pot. The interior is nice and has plenty of places to sit. I walked in smiling, and left wondering what I did wrong by stopping in. Not one person even cracked a smile, and were more interested in each other. My friend was treated the same. The cold brew tastes burned and sour, and the donut I got was so stale and covered in globs of salted caramel which was overwhelming. I am not sure what has happened to Top Pot in the last few years. The doughnuts just do not taste as good as they used to. They don't seem as soft or as fresh (even though I think they are baked every day). I used to love the Raspberry Ring. But now it is quite dense for a yeast doughnut. And even the coffee isn't as good. I am not sure if they have changed the quality of ingredients or what is different. And the one doughnut I have liked in the last year (the apple spice - because it was nice and moist) seems to be gone. I have asked about it three times and was told three different things about when it shows up in the rotation. This last time I tried an apple fritter and it was a bit gummy in the middle. Came by at 9 AM for a dozen donuts. It's $20 for a dozen, which is on the high side, but we were willing to give it a try. The first four types of donuts we ordered were not available, 1 type "sold out", 2 were "only sold Mon-Thurs." and 1 was "no longer in the menu" even though all were clearly presented on the menu. After settling on the frantic guessing game of what actually was available, the donuts were fine. We will be exploring other donut options moving forward. read more

During a visit to Seattle I was excited to try these supposed magnificent creations. Let's make this short and sweet: save your money, time, and waistline. One glazed donut is 1.69, tough as a boot and tastes absolutely no different than a QFC, Albertsons or Safeway donut. Afternoon for a latte. Mistake. Had to explain 'double tall latte' then went to the next window. OH MY! This window ledge actual had pigeon poop on it. Old pigeon poop. This service window has not been washed all winter. Stuff is growing on it. Then came the latte, after a wait. I asked for a straw. They only had soda straws, you know the kind that melt in the heat of a latte? OK I drove off, then the taste test. I want home and put the thermometer in the latte. Folks it was 180 degrees. I was looking for some coffee and was EXTREMELY excited to find a Top Pot doughnuts located in Bothell! I LOVE Top Pot coffee. I have visited several locations of Top Pot, but this one reminded me the most of a Starbucks with a sterile cold interior. Usually, Top Pot locations have a great vibe and atmosphere, but this one seemed lacking something. The staff were OK, but seemed to lack that Top Pot passion that I have previously always experienced. I was happy to find on this warm summer Seattle day that they started serving cold brew coffee! They were kind to give me a sample, and it has the smoothness and delicious roasted bean flavor that is typical of their other coffee. Needless to say, I ordered a cold brew for myself, and tried one of their gluten free jam biscuits, which I hadn't tried before. The gluten free offerings are great to see, but new to top pot. The jam biscuit the staff member mentioned was the best option out of the three choices. It was OK. Not horrible, but not great either. It was a bit on the drier side, and lacked any flavor. The cold brew coffee washed it down great though. I hope that Top Pot isn't going to loose it's quality with the quantity of new store locations that seem to be popping up everywhere. Each time I come back to Seattle I seem to find a newer Top Pot location. The cold brew was a hit though! I went in on a Tuesday around 8:30am. There were plenty of donuts to choose from--the display case was full, with more donuts on baking sheets on the side. I bought a Bavarian Cream and a cinnamon sugar ring. Both were fresh and delicious. I do feel like the space is too big for them. But maybe it seemed especially empty because the only other people around were a dad and his five year old son. Staff that morning was friendly. I went in for an afternoon pick-me-up, but seriously?!? A maple bar and a single shot of espresso for $4.50... WOW! Not a single espresso drink but one ounce of coffee in a two ounce cup. You do the math. Maybe it's $1.50 for the maple bar and $3 for the espresso or $2.50 for the donut and $2 for the coffee. Either way, it's more expensive than Starbucks and that's saying something. On top of that the espresso shot was weak, which is actually pretty common for businesses that use automated machines that don't require real skill or experience to operate. Unfortunately these days, weak espresso from too long a pull or too little ground coffee in the porta-filter gets camouflaged with mass quantities of dairy, sugar and flavors so most people don't notice. But, at least with Starbucks you know what you're going to get. I suppose the rent there is incredibly expensive or maybe they just place a high value on indoor seating. I won't be back. read more
