We were there by chance during Happy Hour (after 3pm). I didn't get his name. He has wavy dark hair past his ears. Five stars on this first visit. the second time we were there, it was yesterday, service was 180 opposite directions. This server, brown wavy hair past his ears and dark mustache took our orders and never came back. When we were ready for the check he was busy talking to someone unrelated to food orders or food..period! He didn't care to look over. Then I asked the host for our check. She tried helping but could not print our check because she was not the server. She then walked over to get his attention discretely, no such luck, he kept on talking. A few more minutes, I asked her if she was getting me the check, she explained that she could not. So i waited, I think he glanced over and back to jabbing. Then the host had to go get help from the someone that could override and allowed her to print. horrible service this second time..not sure I want to take a chance on bad services again. the place was not busy at that time so busyness cannot be a reason. And, he was not working, he spent that time talking.

The staff is always accommodating and friendly. Dinner is great, happy hour is great. But don't discount brunch, it is just as good as everything else. My go to is the chicken fried steak with the jalapeno gravy. I could literally pour the gravy over anything. The steak is always soft enough to cut with a fork. Just spectacular all the way around. Serving it with black beans and potatoes? A dish could not get any better. My wife always orders the Pollo Caldo as she is a soup person. She says it's the best she has ever had. Either way. If you're looking for a killer happy hour(coconut prawns and bacon wrapped jalapeños are my jams here). The dinners are flavorful(carne asada is so juicy and flavorful). And the brunch....just a good variety and lots of great flavors. Also their tequila flights are great if you are into that. They have some really great ones that we frequent. Their sister restaurant is just as good and serves up some great food as well(indigo kitchen). Not really any misses on either of these establishments menus. Just surprised I have never written a review for them, as it is a local favorite that we frequent. To the owner: if you ever start serving IV's of that jalapeno gravy, please put me on the waitlist.

The service was really great throughout our meal. Our server was attentive, polite, and she made sure everything was good. Such potential for this beautifully situated restaurant, right on Silver Lake, with a patio over looking the water and perfect sunset viewing spot and yet, such a disappointment. We made a reservation for seven and arrived a little early. We were told our table wasn't ready so we opted to grab a drink at the bar while we waited. As we sat down, a server handed over menus and my fiance said oh! Thanks but we were just going to order drinks. The server took the menus and walked away. We waited ten minutes and no one greeted us, offered a drink or even looked our way. Thankfully the hostess came over and said our table was ready. We sat on the patio with a beautiful view. The patio was busy on a Friday and the bill from the previous party was still on the table. The waitress came over within five minutes to grab drink orders but left the bill on the table. So when she brought back the drinks, we gave the previous check to her. She took our order for an appetizer- the salmon poke special- and our dinner orders- two shrimp Louie salads and a side of French fries. We waited fifteen to twenty minutes before it became evident she forgot about the appetizer. When she delivered the poke to the table, she apologized for the wait, wished us a good meal and was just about to walk away when an additional server came with our dinner entrees. There was an attempt to smooth it over by saying oh! I tried to stagger it. At least your entrees are already cold! **giggle** please enjoy your meal. I am not one to snub food and I was hungry enough to eat anything. However, the appetizer presentation...lacked presentation. It was a poor pile of slaw and cooked salmon with crispy wonton bits. We ate the salmon and then moved on to the entrees. My Louie salad had brown and wilted lettuce mixed in. For the price of the salad, I would expect better quality. The French fries were commercial fries- nothing to write home about but honestly the best part of the meal. I was extremely disappointed with my experience and still try to look on the bright side- my blood orange mule was good and the French fries shared on the patio saved the night. In the future, I know Emory's will be a good spot to enjoy a drink and fries for a patio sunset view after a bike ride or a paddle on the lake.
