I enjoy checking out indie cafes. Proper Joe Coffeehouse was a pleasant find after wandering along First Avenue in historic downtown Snohomish (4/5/25). Nice interior, interesting variety of merch including coffee roasts to peruse, decent assortment of baked goods, various seating arrangements and definitely from the postings, periodicals, and warm service onsite - you get to experience a strong community vibe. My XL iced mocha was well crafted and refreshing. Definitely recommended!

super cute & small place ! very much so a local spot: but a MUST stop by ! the baristas are very kind, the atmosphere is very cozy with lots of window seating with books & recliners & chairs. vary cost efficient - not overly priced - even when wanting to substitute milks or add ons into your drink. they have a small pastry case as well with fresh treats, various basic drink options, & even sell things like handmade earrings & other trinkets, along with tea brews & chocolate espressos beans ! for added condiments, they also had a small station to add chocolate, sugar, cinnamon, which i found was a cute personal touch ! i totally recommend the vanilla latte with oatmilk, & making it sweet ! it was SO good i was talking about it for days haha !

I've come here to work from home a couple of times and it's a great atmosphere. It's usually pretty quiet in the mornings and has good parties with quality coffee.

Popped in for a handcrafted latte prior to strolling the charming shops of First Street. I was greeted warmly and my hazelnut irish cream latte was just the perfect cup of joe I was looking for, complete with beautiful froth design on the top. Price was similar to any other coffee shop or chain but here, you get the satisfaction of knowing you're supporting a local small business. I will most definitely be back!

This cute little unassuming store is quite small on the outside but definitely worth a stop over. There's only one barista to take all orders and make the drinks so be patient. The person that helped was super friendly and didn't crack under pressure even though a line was building and drink orders were piling up. During our wait there's a lot of cool little things to look at and you have a feeling of complete..it will get done when it gets done attitude. They have a glass case of baked goods but the real star of this place are the drinks! The iced coffee and the iced teas are absolutely flavorful and delicious. They are not watered down and put big box coffee shops to shame. There's no comparison between the care and uniqueness of a small local business to a huge conglomerate. Spend the time and give this little coffee house a try!

I rarely make it up to Snohomish, but now I have a reason to. This little cafe is mostly known for…read moretheir gluten-free baked goods, but their coffee is really something special. I tried their "Wild" coffee, and it has notes of watermelon that you can actually taste. I'd drive out of my way just for this coffee, it's that good. The staff are also great. My order got a little mixed up (switched the espresso types and put in to go cups), but the staff were super kind and righted it as soon as they realized. I only tried their cardamom ginger molasses cookie sandwich (delicious and not too sweet), but I'll absolutely be back to try some of their other gluten-free goodies!

Upon entering, i immediately noticed baked goods display and the drink menu. The case was filled with a bunch of interesting types of baked goods. On top of the rose cardamom latte, brioche tart and cardamom twist. We also got a savory scone and another item that escapes me. I enjoyed the savory scone the most. It had chives and bacon amongst other things. Great texture and not too dry. The brioche tart was a meal all on its own. Heavy and will put you to sleep. The cheese I think that was in there was gruyere but I could be wrong. I enjoyed it but definitely will splooge out if you down eat it on a plate with utensils. Eventually it does get monotonous for me. Recommend sharing it. Cardamom twist was the least favorite item. I'm not sure what it was but there was an essence of something in the background that threw the flavor off for me. I can't seem to describe it. The twist was slightly doughy/stodgy for me. Maybe part of an off batch. I typically do like cardamom centered things. This wasn't my favorite is all I can say. One suggestion I would hope gets implemented is cost of goods displayed for each item. I can say I was surprised at the total during check out. I do go to a lot of bakeries, cafes and artisanal shops. I always felt more at ease knowing what I was getting into from a financial standpoint. Tip is to look at their discounted items. They are a steal. They also have a rewards program that gets you a drink with every new sign up paired with a purchase I wish I had known prior to purchase as I was only able to spot signage at the register.

Tried this spot for a weekday lunch and had a pretty good experience overall!…read more I went for the salad bar. It was decent and definitely filling. As a vegetarian, my protein option was pesto tofu, while the other options were salmon and tuna. They had all the usual greens and vegetables, and everything was served cold. There were a few in house dressings along with some store bought ones. I tried the balsamic vinaigrette and a honey ginger dressing. It was good, but I think it could be better. My husband ordered the pesto tofu sandwich with Moroccan soup, and that was the highlight. The sandwich was delicious, and his only regret was not getting the full size. The soup was also really flavorful. The place itself feels cozy. The food came out quickly, and we finished everything in no time. Parking is street parking, which might be tricky, especially on weekends. Overall, a good experience. I would definitely come back to try more sandwiches or burgers, but I would probably skip the salad bar next time.
