Had a wonderful experience during my first time visit to Top Pot Doughnuts! I came around noon on a weekday with my two younger siblings and there was still a good variety of donuts left. First, I love how large the interior here is. There are couches that are perfect for working and even a small box of toys to keep kiddos occupied. The staff members are also extremely friendly and conversational. Definitely made me feel cozier! I got the Glazed Old Fashion and as much as I wanted to love it, I felt like it missed the mark a bit. The texture was great- fluffy and moist, but the actual donut was a little bland and the glaze was way sweeter than I expected. Our local favorite doughnuts place. I was introduced to this place when I visited a friend of mine. She picked up a few variety of doughnuts from Top-pot for a gathering. They were so delicious. First time in a Top Pot Doughnuts store for one of their doughnuts was today Sunday 27 November 2022 at this Bothell location. It was stop one on a five stop driving donut tour for the day. I arrived around 8:00 a.m. and there were a few other customers and still a good supply of offerings. Employees were chipper and kind in their interactions. Parking was available in front of the entrance and relatively easy to maneuver, however it might be more difficult to maneuver when full and/or busy. I went with the Bavarian Crème Bismark (sign read Bavarian Cream), which is my favorite Top Pot Doughnut per their offerings at the grocery stores around where I live. It was just as good as, if not better than, from the grocery store. The frosting was still warm enough it spread slightly on the lip of the bag when it was put in the bag. I stopped by for a drink and snack while running errands around 1:15p, there was no line and the person at the first window was friendly and prompt. They handed me my donut and said my drink would be at the next window, so I pulled forward and waited a couple minutes. The next person handed me my drink and pleasantly said, "Have a nice day." Because I was looking at her I didn't immediately notice the quality of the drink in the cup I was handed. The donut was fresh and absolute perfection, but the matcha was not. It seems like they mixed the matcha powder with cold water and/or did not thoroughly blend it into the liquid because I was literally chewing the chunks that were coming from the bottom of the cup. I hate writing this review and giving 2 stars as my family and I are religious visitors of this top pot donuts. The team here is always nice to us and they have great toys for my son to play with. The inconsistency in donut prep is unbelievable, though. Please see the photo for reference as we purchased a dozen donuts today with 2 twists. The size variation and paying the same amount for both donuts is just a hard pill to swallow. If this needs to be switched to a corporate site who preps these, I happily will. I was in a line of 5 cars because they were only using the first window only ( there's an order & pick up window) which made no sense), cars were blocking traffic. After waiting over 25 minutes in line, when I approached the window, they had very few choices of doughnuts. I know they were busy and depleted, but if they knew this; I am unsure why they did not have the courtesy to let the waiting cars know and send someone outside to forewarn them. Needless to say I left with nothing after waiting in line. I'm really not one to come on and write reviews unless it has a really negative impact to my day. 1 I ordered the doughnuts at 9:30am and came around 20 mins later to pick them up. I like the fact this location has a drive through especially for morning where I'm not ready and I thought why not save a few extra steps for the employees and sit where it says to pick up your order. (My mistake) I was not in any way rude while waiting,i was at the window patiently for about 5 mins and an employee walked by. A middle aged gentleman, white, and he had glasses. He asked if I had already ordered, and I told him that I had an online order pick up and he gave me a nod and stated that you have to go to the FIRST window. I actually said sorry and that I didn't know (also there was not a line and wasn't a line even after I drove away) and he continued to talk about it. I then tried to defend myself cause I felt that this was unnecessary for a 3 min interaction to get doughnuts. I said that the sign said to pick up at the window and I was gonna follow it by saying what I stated in the first paragraph when he proceeded to state that it's "AFTER you order" he handed me my doughnuts and then continued by saying they have the option to come inside and pick up YOUR orders like what I was doing was wrong. I drove away saying they need to fix their sign then or state something for online pickup. Overall the customer service was what ruined it. And to the middle aged gentleman that served me, just do your job and serve people without making unnecessary comments. My kids, who would normally tear through a box of doughnuts like termites in a woodpile, each ate one and declared themselves done. I had a couple bites of several doughnuts and was unimpressed. My other beef was with the staff, the woman behind the counter was rushed, almost surly as she was assisting us. It wasn't busy the morning we were in--we were the only ones in line and there were four other staff members behind the counter--so I don't really understand the attitude she was sending our way. Super unorganized. You sit at the drive thru forever listening to the girls chit-chat and no one notices that you are there waiting. When you are finally helped, they are out of every single doughnut you asked for, and so they tell you to come back in 20 minutes because "they are getting more". You do that, and they got more doughnuts supposedly, but still don't have the doughnuts you specifically asked for and don't offer any apologies about it despite me driving an extra 20 minutes to come back. Talk about frustrating. Coffee is inconsistent. Sometimes it tastes burnt, and sometimes you wonder if it even has coffee in it. Today, the staff was complacent, and didn't even look at me when they were talking to me. I came back because THEY told me to, driving all the way back from past Hwy 9, but they offered no help with substitutions for the doughnuts they didn't have. One girl made a snarky remark about it, but I can understand how working in a mediocre doughnut shop might be embarrassing to her, so I wrote it off as a defense mechanism.. No one knew whether I had paid, and then tried to charge me twice, tried to make me another coffee I didn't order...I looked around and I was the only customer, so I'm not sure how this can be so confusing (?). I see why this place gets two stars. Didn't Top Pot used to something special? $18 for a half dozen doughnuts and a cup of coffee? I think not.
