I normally don't write reviews (although I read plenty of them). However, my experience with Top Notch was so great that I feel it necessary to sing their praises out loud. What prompted me to call them was that I couldn't get wifi service in more than half of my house. My house is 1-story and very long, and is shaped kind of like a U. I had purchased an extender from Best Buy and took a swing at setting it up on my own. No luck. Sick of messing with the issue, and not knowing what to do next, I started cold-calling computer and networking companies out of the phonebook. I don't remember if TNC was the first place I called or not, but I decided I liked them because my first point of contact there (probably the receptionist) was very nice and made me feel confident about them. Together, we pretty much decided that I had a faulty wireless repeater, and she would send somebody out to take care of everything the next day. I received a call a few minutes before the appointment from the gentleman who was on his way (who turned out to also be the owner). He apologized for running a bit late, and explained that the guy who normally does these calls was sick so he was on double duty today. I told him no sweat, take your time. I was impressed by the fact that he called at all-very courteous. Chris arrived and got things taken care of quickly. He came prepared with a new range extender, which I was fully prepared to purchase. However, it turns out that mine was not broken-I just didn't set it up correctly. I can appreciate the fact that he let me know this, even though he could have easily sold me a new extender. It's a good thing, too, because I think I lost the receipt for mine. Chris stayed a while after fixing the extender, helping out with minor computer/iPad issues and answering a bunch of my stupid questions. I have to admit, I was really having a good time chatting with him. Aside from being a thorough professional, he also has an extremely pleasant personality. When it came time to pay, I was actually a little surprised at how cheap the bill was (I stupidly didn't ask about rates beforehand). I will continue to recommend them to everyone I know. As the manager of a busy dental office, I was tasked with finding a good IT company to lead us through our renovations, set up hardware, software, & networking, and grow with us down the road. These guys are seasoned pros at the medical & dental IT sector. Prior to using them, our practice was a complete mess. Stuff crashed all the time, everything was slow, and I was informed we hadn't completed a successful backup in 6 months! Now we rarely have issues at all, and when we do, they are great at fixing them. They even call us proactively if something goes wrong with the backups, security, etc. so I sleep much better at night. They also seem to know more about medical/dental and imaging software than the support themselves. Very happy we have them as a resource. read more

These guys are aces at fixing computers and recovering data. Recommended them to my boss and she loves them too (and she is hard to please). Fast, professional crew. Small enough you get to know each other, and big enough to tackle any job. Not exactly the cheapest, but I've paid higher rates for much worse service so I'm sticking with these guys. Also, I should mention, one time I left my wallet in their office on accident. Days later, when they found it between some seat cushions, the owner or manager brought it back to my house for me that night, and there was no money missing! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED read more

TopNotch saved my career. After I spilled a cup of tea all over the laptop, the computer was completely restored by TNCT -- and initially the owner of the company waited at the office for me to arrive so he could remove essential files from the hard drive. I had originally contacted a computer repair shop just down the street, and they told me to take a number and get in line!!! However, since I am in the legal business, deadlines do not budge -- I would have been fired if I could not produce my work timely. read more

Very glad they opened an office in Richmond. I used to live in Charlottesville and was a frequent customer there. Since being in RIC I haven't really found anyone I like as much. It seems like the options are strip mall shops or larger corporate conglomerates, not much in between. Top Notch is awesome-they handle the big stuff, the small stuff, they don't mind training & tutoring the older crowd (my mom used them too), and they know how to listen to people's needs. The WiFi at my house had never been right since Comcast installed their new router 3 years ago. Strangely, replacing it didn't help so I decided it was time to call the pros. Ended up with a full-blown professional network and WiFi solution that is a bit overkill but works awesome. If you want cheap equipment, high prices, and a different tech every time, call the geek squad or some 800 # like I used to do. If you want competence, this is a good bet and I'm sticking with it. read more

Best computer repair & network support in RVA hands down. They take care of the IT at my work, and I recently had them fix a broke laptop screen. Their repairs can take a while but that's because they're backed up since they're so good. Their commercial side is a whole different ballgame. These guys are awesome-hiring a full-time IT staff would cost an arm & a leg compared to this and the expertise wouldn't be as high. read more
