First day off in weeks ... made an appt for manicure .. I arrive on time ..the owners wife meets me at the door and immediately shoved hand sanitizer in my face ... no greeting , not even a quick hello . I tell her I have appt , she motions for me to sit at the first table . She begins the manicure process and I asked .. do I need to pick a color first ? Pretty much how it's usually done . She begins berating me to her husband in her native language... do I understand it, obviously not, but what was Blatantly obvious was the nastiness in her demeanor as tone . Pretty universally understood! The client seated next to me told me I must have said something to upset her and just shook her head . This woman then gives me ice cold , clear water to soak my hands in ....hmm... supposed to be at least lukewarm and sudsy . Then after another minute of her rattling again . She abruptly stops , walks over , grabs the basket of fake nails, drops them in my lap and tells me to " pick a color" . Then she leaves ! I do not see her again until near the end of my manicure , when she comes to " Greet" another client - same attitude . I will not be back. Went in for a pedi yesterday , for the first time in a few years. It was nice to be back. More pedi chairs now and I was really happy with the relaxing pedi that included hot wax treatment . There was nice attention to detail . My only complaint is the football playing on the large screen tv- nail salon clientele are women ! HGTV or Entertainment TV or relaxing music would make for a much better nail salon atmosphere . read more

My niece, my guy friend and I stopped by Grover Beach on a road trip and figured that we'd get pampered with a mani/pedi. We stopped by Top Nails on yelp's suggestion and they graciously accommodated our walk-in quickly even though there were other customers there already. I had a french manicured gel set done and i adored it! It lasted a long time and the nail art on it was too cute! Loved it so much i blinged out my toes too. For guys who are not afraid to venture into a nail salon, this place is perfect for you. Firstly you are not the only guy there because one of the staff is a guy. Secondly, they have dealt with many male customers (I know because I asked). Third, you'll come out with nice and well manicured hands and toes. For those with a significant other she/he will greatly appreciate it. Talk about nail drama! On our visit we were witness was a soon to be bride with a major "nail" emergency. She had gotten her set done elsewhere and came to Top Nails to get it redone. Apparently she had gotten her acrylics done and they came out not the way she wanted them (I'm talking nail horror story). The owners of Top Nails then got to work and by the time she was done the soon to be bride was so appreciative she kept saying over and over how thankful she was. (kinda annoying to me but i guess I'd be the same in her situation). Overall this shop is great. Amy is no longer there but all the staff there are very friendly and attentive to your needs. All you have to do is let them know what it is you want and they will do their best to fulfill your needs. I went it for a pedicure a few weeks ago with a few friends and it was probably one of my best experiences at a nail salon. The pedicure was only $25 which is a great deal for the amount of stuff they did. Not only did they do a great job, my pedicure hasn't chipped yet and still look as if I just got them done. I would give no stars if possible. Tom started my acrylic French manicure (not too hard to mess up, right?) WRONG. He slopped the acrylic onto my nails like pancake batter on a skillet. As it oozed off of my nails and hardened onto my skin, tom left and passed me off to a woman to try to fix the massacre that was my nails. She proceeded to butcher almost every one of my fingers until they bled. After almost three hours of this torture, I am very unhappy with the result: see for yourself. I will not be back. We stumbled upon this family run business by mistake. And so glad we did. Very personable, professional, and quick!

Was able to get in and get my nails done fairly quick, got acrylic fill with two new on my thumbs. The gel polish dried sheer in some spots and the clear coat either didn't dry or didn't dry enough that I'm getting lint and others stuff stuck to them. Have a few cuts on my cuticles. only needed my nails done to hold me over till I get back to Germany. I'd say it's pretty average. Can't really complain for the price. read more

Insulting one persons nail size and another persons feet in a two minute span is some of the worst customer service I have ever received. I've personally never had my nails done before. And the Top-Nail salon back in Texas was wonderful, very professional and quick with their work not to mention generous on prices. The Top Nail salon here in California I visited was wonderful considering I only walked in for an Eyebrow waxing which I loved, absolutely loved the shaping and work the woman (I suspect the owner) did on me, beautiful work. However upon going in one evening to attempt a full pedicure I found myself introduced towards the Male of the shop (I suspect the husband?) who during my wait took clippers and clipped my nails in the most hideous and hasty fashion I've ever witness, and upon clipping my mis-shappen pinky nail he cut into my nail deep enough to draw blood, which he then apologized for and applied a green agent that was starting to numb the pain, of course the bleeding ceased but he proceeded onward with his progression to do my nails. I asked for a traditional French-Tip for my first pedicure and ended up with these unevenly shaped nails that looked like boulders on each finger, ugly and very unpleasent in my taste to be honest, even after I asked if he could file them down more he just said something in their language and nodded before doing a small file and that was it, didn't even did what I asked. All in all I wouldn't suggest getting my nails done there anymore unless I just want my fingers painted or have something waxed. Even then they are pretty decent just.. Need to work a little more on their professionalism. read more

Bottom Nails. I just came out of there, after 90 wasted minutes. I don't make a million, but I am going back to Cutting Edge by Traffic to have them redo it all! I asked for gel nails with rounded shapes. I am now out with shellac (that will last a mere 5 days), my nails are every which shape (not two are the same), I have cotton wad threads hanging off them, and half of them have that sticking-to-my-finger feeling as if I'd done it myself. Drunk. I got into my car to check out the upper lip wax, at least you can't mess that up. The shade is gone. And my face is full of little green wax-leftovers. I have just been tag-teamed by the most incompetent nail joint I've encountered. It took too long. I did not get what I wanted. I certainly don't want to walk around with what I got. Ew. read more

I've been coming here for a year now and won't go anywhere else. Van does my gels and Anna did the best pedicure! The basic pedi included a scrub and a stone massage. Everyone is good though. Very nice people, but not enough to service the customers and not a great nail polish job. A young man started on my manicure, then 1/4 way through he left and a few minutes later someone else came to continue on my manicure. He left to start on the acrylics on the customer next to me (she asked how long the wait was and was told 5 min, so of course someone needed to get started on her nails, although they were all busy. What?!) Then he left her, to clean the pedicure tubs and someone else had to continue on her nails. Manicure itself wasn't great either. Looked fabulous that day, but TWO days later the polish on all my nails is cracked! Waste of my $25 ($20 manicure, $5 tip). Not going back. read more

Quaint little place (with massage chairs) that I would definitely go back to. I got a mani/pedi and the pedicure was only $22 but that does not include polish removal ($5) and callus removal ($5). I thought the polish removal was a rip off since that is usually included in a pedicure and takes 60 seconds, but it was a cheap base price. The callus removal on the other hand was excellent and worth twice the cost. Good pedicure otherwise, very nice people who spoke surprisingly good english compared to those I usually meet in a nail spa. They also took their time and although it was pretty empty, when another customer came in I didn't feel like they rushed to finish up which was really nice. read more

I have been getting my acrylic french manicure here now for a year and Tom does a wonderful job! He is meticulous, clean, never in a hurry and my nails always look top notch.
