My wife and I went in and chose to get the Royal Pedicure. This was a big waste of money. After getting home, we had to finish what they were supposed to do. They did not exfoliate as the description said or as well as other salons that do not charge as much. I was very disappointed with the quality of service. Do not ever pay for an upgrade and demand that they do what they promise. They may be better at manicures but this place is supposed to be specific to feet. read more

I wish I would have read reviews sooner. The man that works here I've never had before and let him do my (over priced) fill which is the same price as a full set maybe $5 off. I don't mind paying for quality nails but I got FRENCH TIPS and not only did he not fix the shape this is the sloppiest French tip I've ever had and I'm embarrassed to walk around with these nails. Mind you I picked a French tip cuz he couldn't do anything else so I went simple for him lol and he still gave me sloppy nails that I paid $52. He said not one word to me the whole apt and gave me a look when I didn't tip which I have never not tipped for my nails that's how bad it was. Service was amazing. I received gel nails from a different salon and could not remove them. The gal at Happy Nails removed them and shaped my natural nails. She was so gentle and so nice to talk to. I live out of town but will be back the next time I come through San Luis. read more

Have you ever been offered water at a nail salon? That's pretty standard right? Well here at Happy Nails (the lady left out "toe" when we called), they gave us a 1L bottle of ionized alkaline water! What!!! Amazing lol. We came to get pedicures last minute and they fit us in! The chairs were comfortable. My guy did a great job and the toes are looking good again. The lady did rush us out of the chairs which was weird. She turned off my massage chair and put my sandals on like ok time for you to go. There were plenty other chairs open. That's ok though, service was good and I'd come back. read more

recently had a highly disappointing experience at this establishment, prompting me to write this review. Upon arrival, the place appeared unclean, and we were not greeted despite having a scheduled appointment. During my manicure, I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested that the nail technician trim my cuticles more thoroughly. This request was met with significant displeasure from the technician, who reacted very unprofessionally and created a scene. When I requested to see another technician, I was told that all technicians were occupied with appointments. However, while waiting for my friend to finish her pedicure, I observed that the technicians took in walk-in clients instead of addressing my concerns. Overall, the experience was unsatisfactory, marked by the facility's lack of cleanliness and poor customer service. I do not recommend this place. read more

Rude and minimal service. Very low quality. Chairs are used and not personable. Cuticles cuts were horrible.

COVID-19 Guidelines are in place. Your safety is very important and it shows. MASK for all is required. Social distancing includes placement of seating. Appointments only. Upon entering your temperature is taken, noted on Covid-19 waiver you must sign. Thorough sanitizing after each customer. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes at each nail station for ones use. Thank you owners for taking proper precautions and implementing Covid-19 regulations. I am one happy customer. I am a faithful customer because service is impeccable. Was overcharged for a fill $52 and with in a week they are already breaking off and chipping paint was kind of dirty in there like I am like they were painting. I asked if they were doing fresh paint he said no, so it was kind of odd that the way it looked on the inside, but whatever they've been in business a lot of time I wish them the best, but I would not recommend and will not go back myself. read more

Always a delight coming here and all nail technicians are great- I prefer Holly. She takes upmost care and is gentle yet thorough. Deluxe pedi is only $10 more with longer massage and additional soaking with paraffin. Salon is so salon with calming music and gentle trickling of water from spa chairs. Absolutely loved this place and hope to come back. I came just a few days after they reopened post Covid and they have great precautions in place. They did add an additional $5 charge to everything because of the Covid precautions which honestly is fair. They have covers for every chair (picture attached) and sanitizers for all stations. I got a deluxe pedicure and it was amazing. The massage was very worth it. They also had a little gift bag at the end - what a cute touch. They can't do double services - hands and feet at same time because of Covid requirements, but that makes sense given these aren't set by them but rather by Covid guidelines. Also highly recommend calling ahead to set an appointment. They were taking same day, but I don't see walk ins being an option at least during Covid due to needing to be properly staff They do take credit card and cash ! read more

I had a lovely first experience here- got a gel manicure, and it was perfect. She asked me if I wanted a third coat of polish, which I really appreciated. Perfect manicure and paint application, and I'm really picky about my nails. It lasted three weeks with no chips. I went back today and unfortunately it was a big miss. I saw a male nail tech this time, and it was just not good. Manicure was ok, but the paint job is terrible. He got it all over my cuticles and the tips of my fingers, and gel polish isn't easily removable once it cures. The finish is lumpy and the edges are uneven. I'm going to soak the polish off tonight and paint them myself. I'm really disappointed. I might come back if I could make sure the first nail tech did my manicure. read more

I tried this place out for the first time this past week. It was so lovely. I went for a 6:30pm pedicure appointment. There was only one other person there getting a manicure, so it was very quiet and relaxing. The ambiance and music were so nice. The quality of the massage chair and tools was also great. It has been a long time since I've had a pedicure, so I went for the "Royal" level. Almost 1 hour of foot care and lovely leg massages. I was in heaven! I can tell they are taking a lot of COVID precautions, and therefore they have upped their prices (which they are candid about on all their price sheets). read more

This review is specifically for the rude nail guy that works here. As soon as walked in (early for my appointment) he barked at me to pick out my color at the wall without even a hello. After sitting down he immediately started gluing acrylic tips to my nails, without doing any preparation at all. I had just come from work and had visible dirt under my nails, not a lot but I've ALWAYS had nail salons clean & prep nails and surface before proceeding. As he continued to glue I asked him if he was going to fix the nails first, and he told me "No, that's a different service," and "don't worry it will be covered up." I was in shock and told him I wasn't going to proceed sealing dirt into my nails and he said fine, stood up and threw down a wooden stick in front of me to clean my own nails, and then left to go eat a snack in the back room. I've had my nails done like this a million times, all over CA and the US. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this. I should have gotten up and left, but I already had tips glued to my nails and I didn't want to make a scene or ruin anyone else's experience who came here seeking a relaxing treatment. After I cleaned my own nails and he ate his snack in the back room, he eventually came back and proceeded to work on my nails, and boy did he make me pay for it. He almost glued two of my fingers together (still cant get the glue off) and spent two hours of extremely uncomfortable silence, squeezing my fingers way too hard, twisting them and clearly trying to hurt me or at least make me uncomfortable. I had planned on getting a pedicure too, but the manicure was so torturous that I decided against it. Almost $100 later I was overcharged and left with my nails applied crookedly with a super messy gel job. I think he intentionally made my nails as bad as possible. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon in my entire life. The women working on customers around me seemed so sweet and attentive to all of their customers, which really seemed to amplify his bad attitude, carelessness, and lack of customer service. I really regret coming here and won't be back as long as he works there. I spoke to a friend who goes there this morning and she said she thinks only one guy works there, so best to avoid him. She was so shocked about my experience, she said she's going to look for a new nail salon too. read more

I don't recommend French tip here.. Me and my mom came here for a pedicure & I really didn't enjoy my time. We felt very unwelcomed even though there was only 1-2 other people getting their toes done. Really the man was very nice & did hard work on my moms feet, i wish I got him too lol But I got the older lady (possibly the wife) & she just seemed like she didn't wanna work. We were getting the 2nd most expensive pedicure (we thought we were getting the best) when we realized there was 1 tier above, we asked what the difference was & the lady was very firm on telling us "it's not worth it, just longer massage" & you can tell she really didn't wanna do the massage. She convinced us to not get it. You can tell she just didn't wanna spend the extra time. So me and my mom decided to just not get it due to how we felt after asking. Upon her doing my pedicure I didnt feel really any kind of effort & I was so sad because I was looking forward to it so bad but I didn't wanna sound mean. Had a bad experience at another salon in SLO. This place came highly recommend. I went in to have "dip" done to my nails. Holly did a beautiful job. In fact, I noticed she did more steps for the dip than the other place did that caused my nails to chip badly. My nails look great and I'm very happy. I only gave them a 4 because I haven't tried their pedis yet. I'm looking forward to that! ***Updating my review...love this place! I won't be going anywhere else. Holly does a fantastic job on my nails. She's always said if there is a problem to come in and she'll fix them for free. She wants to know if something goes wrong, so the mistake can be fixed. FUNGAL INFECTION- BEWARE I wanted to treat myself, I haven't had a pedicure in a very long time. A couple of months after I went to this nail place, I noticed my toe nails peeling. I went to the doctor and they said I have a fungal infection from a pedicure. I now have to take a fungal medication from my doctor which effects kidneys and my liver. I went in to get my nails done before my formal and they said they could get me in at 6:45, and they close at 7. I was thankful they were willing to stay late, so I walked in and there are 3 nail techs. Long started my pedicure while the others were cleaning up, turns out they left me alone with Long without telling me, an older man with a 19 year old girl with the blinds half shut and the door locked. He finished my nails at 8:45, I got a pedicure and an acrylic full with french tips. They whole time the situation was weird because he was fairly mean and not friendly whatsoever. He did a horrific job, the bottom doesn't match with my actual nail bed color so you can see where my acrylic ends. Looks like stick on's and I paid 90$. Never go here please. read more

I thought I'd give this place a try and was seriously disappointed. They rushed me through a gel mani-pedi, did not soak my nails, barely filed my nails or touched my cuticles, which were in terrible shape at the time. They left at least two nails uneven and jagged, which I had to file myself later. They did not rough up my nails or apply primer, which resulted in my nails chipping on the second day and completely lifting and peeling off before the week was over. The pedicure was underwhelming. They cut a couple of my nails too short and hardly did any type of massage. On top of all this, they were super overbooked, leaving my daughter to wait half an hour for a tech, even though we made appointments. They had several people show up at the same time as us and within 30 minutes of our arrival. They said they only had three techs and people with appointments would just have to wait. Why book all these people then? Why not call and reschedule if someone called in sick? Why not provide decent service to begin with? read more

Pedicure gel and manicure dip Pedicure was ok. Except the massage was more like ticking...absolutely no pressure was applied and he didn't clean under the nail or the sides. He acted like he did but the tool never was under the nail. Like it all felt like only a polish change. When it was time for my hands he informed me he can't do French dip only gel so I said fine do gel even though I wanted dip I've been getting dip for years just not here I'm from out of town. Again acted like he was cleaning under the nail but wasn't even touching my fingers much less get under the nail. I loved my last experience here! The first time I had a bad experience with a small infection on my heel from the tools. They corrected everything and instead of sanitizing their own tools they now have medical grade sealed and professionally sanitized tools to use every time. I haven't had an issue since. I stayed a customer because they really do a good job of polishing those footsies! Even though they didn't offer me a heated neck pad, drink menu or chocolates like I was used to having at Happy Toes. I still was offered bottled water and the regular pedicure included a hot stone massage. I concluded that they had to cut down some costs for the drinks and chocolates due to covid and the heat pad was not included for sanitary reasons? They were very clean and had all their covid screens in place. The lady that did my toes was so nice and she did an AMAZING job! She was telling me how to take care of my feet at home and gave me a takeaway bag with some tools! Plus they had real sandals that you can reuse! Not those flimsy styrofoam ones When I went to the beach and walked in the sand an hour later my polish stayed in tact and still hasn't chipped four days later! They do a great job here. Very kind and welcoming. They've done so much work to protect their customers from covid.

Clean, friendly, accommodating. When I called ahead and asked if they had openings in the next ten minutes, the male worker assured me that they did. When I got to the shop there were 3 customers and at least 5 empty seats .... that soon changed and the place became crowded in the time it took for my pedicure. If you have the time during the weekday, I would recommend going then, as it seems to be less busy. Anything after 1430 hrs or the weekend WILL be busy so plan accordingly. Included in the service is a beverage, an herbal heated pillow for your shoulders (although a very pregnant customer had them put it on her lower back and I instantly became jealous that I didn't think of that too). Basics include a scrub, a foot mask, massage with lotion, and the pedicure. I got the $60 package which was with the callous removal and paraffin wax. There is a way to work around the menu they present to you by buying a very basic package and adding on the features that you want. But to be honest, the price difference is only $5 so why not indulge yourself. Things that slightly annoyed me. The price menu is not presented to you until you sit in the chair and there is no price listing for the ala carte items. ... What if I wanted french tips or even colored french? See stuff like that should be included. ALSO, I assumed that the manicure was included with my package, but it wasn't. SOOOOOOO make sure you look closely at the price menu to make sure that you are getting everything that you want included in the package that you are purchasing. As a parting "gift" they give you the manicure instruments from your kit that were not used. If you had purchased a package you will also get a pair of slippers aka flip flops for the non-Hawai'i people. read more
