This place is a tea drinker's paradise! Huge selection of loose teas, chai/matcha, and other tea lattes and concoctions, hot or iced. The store also has cute items from local artists. I ordered the 4 Horsemen, which was a great morning black tea blend. I appreciate that this place times the steep and gets the temperature just right. Since they removed the tea bag before serving, my to-go cup of tea didn't get too bitter, as is the case with most places. I wish I were in Reno longer so I could explore the tea lattes on the menu. Too Soul Tea is a little hidden gem in Reno. It's a little hard to find but once you are there, it is worth every missed turn. There are only a few seats but it's a nice quiet place to hang out and read a book while sipping tea. I had the Pecan Pie creamy soulful and it tasted amazing. I came here on my lunch break because some coworkers suggested it to me since I love teas and it was close to work in midtown! Parking was tricky since it's a small space but I was able to get a spot. It is super small inside and we had to move around people but it is absolutely adorable inside. They have some tables and chairs inside that some people were doing work at our just hanging out with friends. They have merchandise everywhere in there from tea diffusers, tea mugs to big bags of tea you can purchase! They also have some local jewelry which was so kind! The lady at the counter was so sweet and because it was my first time, she helped make a recommendation based on what I liked and I got this honey floral tea that is one of their favorites and I really liked it. This place is my new favorite. Right out of the gate, Morgan took the time to explain the menu and answer my many (and probably annoying, let's be real) questions. They have an incredible selection of all sorts of teas. I'm a fan of oolongs, and she hooked me up with the Magnolia Oolong. Phenomenal. If you order a pot, they include a re-steep, which is great as someone who usually does multiple steeps at home. They are highly knowledgeable and take great care in their brewing times and temperatures. They offer loose leaf teas for sale and offer refillable tins. Discounts for bringing your own mug and for UNR students! They also offer many house blends and fruity offerings, which I have not yet had the pleasure of trying. My friend enjoyed the Hibiscus tea, I chose the Just Peachy tea and my other friend went with a simple black iced tea. Not what I was expecting or hoping for. When I think of having tea, I was imagining an old Victorian building with overstuffed chairs, couches and tables. Hoping for wood floors, rugs and lots of light and beauty. Maybe a resident cat soaking up the sun in a window seat. What I got was a small dark room with little light, and uncomfortable sitting (inside and out) metal tables and chairs, no cushions. Aesthetically not a place I'd want to go and hang out ever. Service was decent, but not fast. Tea was not better than I can make at home. Baked goods were seriously lacking. $8 for a medium tea and THE WORST "donut" I have ever tried. I walked in today with one person in front of me being helped, so I stood and waited in line. In the meantime, another person comes in after me and they don't get in line behind me but they walk past me and go to the other side of the counter. The person in front of me is now finished paying and I am thinking I am next, however, the person who came in after me gets asked if they will be having their "usual". Their order is then placed in front of mine and they get rung up all while I am still standing there. I respect that you have your regular customers but ignoring other customers and prioritizing/favoring orders of your friends or known regulars over others is gross and bad business. This is my favorite place in Reno to get a warm drink. I've gotten the Madagascar Coconut Tea and the Banana Bread Soulful Delight. I never knew how much I loved rooibos tea and the Banana rooibos was a great introduction! I've also had some of their tasters (prior to COVID). The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable on all things tea! I follow them on Instagram and they seem to have made good decisions surrounding the pandemic. It also seems they've been doing some updates inside their cafe and recently new windows for their outdoor section. Although I wish I could have a Conversational size tea (what they called their teapot) with a friend, I totally understand why that is paused. You know good things come from a stand-alone, orange painted, and quaint little building sitting in the middle of a lot like the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. I think you've struck gold when you find a business that brews with loose leaf tea! It does seem family owned as the two teen and sister-like girls working the counter that Saturday morning were probably helping out grams. They have a set menu, but the most unique aspect here is choosing from their list of over 100 loose leaf tea options. You can even make your own blend at 50 cents each item, or +$1 for any fine tea additions. I was pretty explicit about not even knowing how I would start creating my own blend since I had no idea what they had, but the girls weren't really helpful in supplying their list of available loose-leaf, which was off to the side I later discovered. I was feeling like some chai though and here they ask if you want it spicy or not. I do prefer a pretty heavy hint of spice in my chai drinks, but a hint and nothing more so she offered doing half-half regular and spicy. Add 50 cents for almond milk and I had myself the most DIVINE Chai Tea Latte! The 'heavy hint' of spice was on point, and it was just so milky and aromatic! Having tea brewed loose-leaf is just a whole different experience. It should be noted that while you can have your cup of 16oz brewed tea to-go, they do brew larger batches (20-32oz) that they serve in a glass tea pot. Good for multiple cups, so you can chill in the shop with some old friends and chat it up like the grandma you are! :) read more
