Almost too swift as I didn't have time to fully peruse the plentiful options and decide what i wanted to order to go. They also offered generous samples of their daily soups, so I got to taste both delicious soups! - Ham, brie, apricot, apple sandwich on french baguette - 5/5, I was expecting the baguette to be hard to bite down on but it was the perfect mix of crunchy outside, soft inside and not difficult at all to eat! What was difficult was the portion size as I could have easily shared it with someone else - pumpkin/carrot/ginger soup - 5/5, truly scrumptious! - italian sausage white bean kale soup - 4/5, delicious and just a tad too salty - ham cheddar chive scone - 3/5, I was expecting to really like this but it was a bit too hard and had large chunks of ham in it which was generous but not what I was expecting - chocolate croissant - 4/5, solid offering but not the best I've ever had - pecan maple shortbread cookies - 4/5 I wish I had more days in Anchorage and more time (they're open 7am - 4pm and October on only open Wednesday through Sunday) and look forward to returning when I hopefully return to Anchorage! I'd come every day to try everything!

I may only be in town for a week, but I'll probably stop by this place at least a couple more times. Clean and comfortable atmosphere, with an amazing staff and downright awesome pastries, and such. Another homerun on my visit to Anchorage, has my highest recommendation.

I am slowly trying all the items Benji's has to offer and I can honestly say I have not had anything that I haven't enjoyed. My favorite thus far has been the pistachio crumbly danish. I highly recommend Benji's Bakery & Cafe to anyone and everyone, definitely worth a visit!

The "last minute" cake is one of the cakes that can be ordered much closer to the date in question than a full custom cake. I'm so glad I did this! The cake looked amazing and tasted great. It was a chocolate-on-chocolate concoction called "The Dark Side" and I would highly recommend it. We loved the cake so much we took most of it as a carry-on when we flew home (there was only two of us, and its a good sized cake - FYI, TSA will let you carry almost an entire chocolate cake onto an airplane). The customer service was great - everything was arranged via email (which worked out well for me) and the cake was exactly what I was looking for and was ready when I asked. The owner followed up with me a few days before to make sure our pick-up arrangements were still okay. If I'm ever in the need for a cake in Anchorage again I would absolutely contact this bakery.

Everyone absolutely loved the cake and cupcakes and I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out.

We also picked up the raspberry almond polenta cake $18, blueberry chamomile cake $17, and the chocolate croissant. They said to take cakes out an hour before, we cut them up and we dove right in. My favorite taste wise was the polenta cake, And the croissant. But being honest everything was kind of bland, and tasteless. We could taste the polenta cake but it also was dry. I know it's polenta it may be a little dry I get it, it was my fav after all. The cupcake was a huge disappointment! But the onion poppy seed roll was AMAZING 10/10! Each tart had its own unique flavor, perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which made it way too easy to keep reaching for another. The chocolate raspberry cake was a standout--rich, moist, and layered with just the right amount of tartness from the raspberry filling. What really surprised me was how satisfying everything tasted without feeling heavy or overly sweetened--and even better, it didn't spike my blood sugar the way most desserts do. You can tell there's intention behind the ingredients and how everything is made. They also have plenty of other baked goods like cookies, brownies, and more, so there's definitely something for everyone. The staff are friendly, and the bakery itself is so cute--such a welcoming little spot that makes the experience even better. If you're looking for treats that feel a little more thoughtful but still indulgent, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

I almost passed out when I had to pay 5.75 for a 12oz mocha. Their rent must be extremely high here. None of their menus on the counter or the wall had any prices, well they did but they blacked them out. None of the specials had prices, the food too. So they can change them how they see fit. I just don't really like that business practice, I think it's kind of shady. They are way too high as well. Nobody should be paying that for espresso. Mocha did taste decent though, and not too hot which I appreciate I didn't burn my mouth. The worker was very quiet and when I left she sat on the couch with her phone. Happy to support small businesses but I won't go out of my way to come here or ever pay that much for a mocha. Those are *bucks prices.

Ordered a wedding cake for a casual elopement…read more Cake execution: pretty awful. To be honest, the cake wasn't all that pretty to begin with but it got worse as the day went on and it thawed out more. Picked up my cake around 4pm and by 7pm it was a tilted Mad Hatter cake. I assure you, it was not damaged during transport. When we cut into the cake to serve slices, an entire chunk of cake was missing from the bottom tier and "spackled in" with frosting. This caused the cake to collapse and the top tier slid off to one side. There was also no dowel support between to the top and bottom tiers. Just a cardboard round which slid on top of the buttercream. That probably would have been ok if it weren't for the missing chunk of cake. People asked me if I made the cake myself. Hahaha. It was pretty embarrassing. But luckily this was for a very casual elopement, not a big wedding, otherwise I would have been pretty pissed. My parents did pay a decent amount of money for this, roughly $275. I've seen far better from Walmart's bakery. The shop got stars for the following... Cake flavor: very good! I ordered the champagne cake with strawberry filling for the bottom tier and chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling for the top tier. All covered in white chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake and fillings were delicious. The frosting was a little gritty, I assume from using granulated sugar, but still tasty. A little too sweet for my liking but it was still good. The cake layers were nice and thick. Customer service: Great! Response time from the shop was excellent. They promptly responded to my emails on the quote and design request. I called the shop when it was about time to pick up my cake and didn't reach anyone at first, but they called me right back. I guess I could have called the shop to let them know the issues with the cake but I have a feeling once the cake leaves their shop in good condition, they would put the blame on the customer. I just won't use them again, for cakes anyways. Anyways, thanks for reading and check out my Mad Hatter cake.
