Cupcakes- choices and availability at 3pm wed afternoon is good. Frosting was fine- buttercream. Cake to me was not as flavorful imo and my hubby felt the cake itself was a little dry and over cooked at the bottom.

February 2024. Went up to $5 each. I went about 12:30 and there were only four flavors out, red velvet, vanilla, and two others. When I came in I asked about the cupcakes because there were 6 trays empty. The guy said that German chocolate and chocolate are just coming out now. I ended up getting one chocolate and one red velvet. The pink lemonade one is my favorite so I was bummed they didn't have it. Maybe they just take cycles getting flavors out for the day and what they had out were left over from the day before. The chocolate was super moist and delicious. The red velvet was nice and soft too, not a lot of flavor except the cream cheese frosting.

Cute interior. The cupcakes were moist and delicious. We got our cupcakes fast after getting some input from the cashier and we even got to meet Eva... very sweet lady.

    Delicious delicacies!

Bought a four pack. It was for a little girls picnic. The pink lemonade cupcakes with lemon curd inside were divine! The blue rainbow were just what kids want! The owner is kind and friendly. The shop is extremely clean and cheerful. What more could you want?

A hidden gem in Mountain View. I stopped by here while I was in the area one day and I'm glad I did. The interior is cute and whimsical, like a grandma's house. It was a nice place to take a break during lunch. I like that this place focuses on one type of baked good and does it well rather than many bakeries that have multiple less-than-stellar pastries. All the cupcakes looked very good; simple but still nice presentation. I had a hard time deciding, so the friendly girl at the counter gave me some recommendations. I decided to try the banana cupcake and the sweet potato cupcake. Both had smooth frosting with the right amount of sweetness and a nice caramel drizzle on top. The cake, as mentioned by other reviewers, is on the dry side, but I wasn't particularly bothered by that. I love anything with sweet potato so that cupcake was definitely my favorite. I probably would have gotten more, but specialty cupcakes (at least in Anchorage) are on the pricey side. I'm not in this part of town often but next time I am I intend to visit again.

I went to this lovely business today and I was delighted to see Ms. Eva saying farewell to 2 customers as I came in. They all turned to greet me and the put a smile on my face. I thought I had recognized her from the photo and I asked if she was Ms. Eva and she confirmed that she was. She patiently explained to me the various flavors of cupcakes and when I asked which ones were her specialty, she responded by saying that they are like her children and they all received the same amount of love. I liked that answer a lot but it did not help me narrow down which cupcakes I was going to get . They all looked so good! I chose sweet potato, Life by Chocolate (it's called Death by Chocolate but I prefer to affirm that chocolate gives me life ) and pink lemonade. My nephew, my husband and I agree that they were delicious cupcakes as evidenced by the clean cupcake wrappers. Specifically, Ivan vouch for the pink lemonade one. It had lemon in the cake as well as the icing. They were all also quite beautiful. We are leaving soon but I feel at least one more visit before heading back home.

The cutest little cupcake place I've seen in Alaska!! We came here after a light lunch to grab a cupcake and we're pretty surprised at how nice it was. I don't spend much time in this area. Friends of ours have told us it's in the hood, but coming in here you'd never know. We walked in and were greeted right away. Two friendly faces, one of which was THE Eva that the shop is named after. After a quick run down of the cupcakes and availability we decided to get 6. Lol. They all looked so pristine and scrumptious that we just could t handle ourselves. We picked a gingerbread, pink lemonade, red velvet, sweet potato, and two sour cream pound cake cupcakes. They looked so good that my son and I couldn't even wait to get home to eat them. My husband used the restroom, so we took advantage and started in on them. The pink lemonade was filled with lemon curd and topped with pink lemonade frosting. This was the most flavorful and not overpoweringly sweet frosting I've ever had! I consider myself a baker and I've never even made a frosting that good! My son ate the gingerbread and boy was it good. It was so cute! Topped with a tiny decorative sugar cookie and cream cheese icing. I had a bite and it took me back to the gingerbread my dad used to bake up when I was a kid. The service was great, the selection is great, ambiance and decorations were great. The only thing that kept them from getting 5 stars was the small hair I found while peeling back the paper of the cupcake. Like whoever was filling the cups wasn't careful tying back the hair. I'd already eaten half of it, and y'all know me I'm a stickler for cleanliness, I'd still go back. Cupcake was that good.

Oh my goodness! I was pleasantly surprised to come up on this cupcake shop here in Anchorage Alaska. I was just visiting for a short time and just on an outing with my sister and we decided to stop in. The customer service was absolutely amazing. They had many selections even gluten-free. I settled on a cupcake that was poundcake with cream cheese frosting. Often times when you go to these places the cream cheese frosting is way too thick and sweet. This was absolutely perfect and I would definitely recommend to everyone. And did I mention that the place is owned by a black woman? #Awesome

Top row: Death by Chocolate & Pink Lemonade Bottom Row: Carrot & Apple

I had always intended to go here... now I wish I had gone sooner. On a rainy day when everything had gone wrong, I looked up from the list of things we had to do and asked my kids if they'd like to try the cupcake place. Naturally a big yes, so we went in and picked a different flavor for each member of the family: Death by Chocolate, Pink Lemonade, Carrot, and Apple. They were all beautifully decorated, and the lady behind the counter was very kind and had obviously put in a lot of care in a long day of baking and decorating. We took them home and I bit into the apple one and it was amazing: inside was apple pie filling and a terrific apple cake topped with a really delicious buttercream. You wouldn't believe one cupcake could fix your feelings about a rotten day, but it truly did and I would recommend this place to anyone. They must've had 8-10 flavors; definitely something for everyone. The other cupcakes were equally well received. I will visit again.

Clockwise from top left: chocolate raspberry, sweet potato, German chocolate and pumpkin with cream cheese icing.

Ordered a wedding cake for a casual elopement…read more Cake execution: pretty awful. To be honest, the cake wasn't all that pretty to begin with but it got worse as the day went on and it thawed out more. Picked up my cake around 4pm and by 7pm it was a tilted Mad Hatter cake. I assure you, it was not damaged during transport. When we cut into the cake to serve slices, an entire chunk of cake was missing from the bottom tier and "spackled in" with frosting. This caused the cake to collapse and the top tier slid off to one side. There was also no dowel support between to the top and bottom tiers. Just a cardboard round which slid on top of the buttercream. That probably would have been ok if it weren't for the missing chunk of cake. People asked me if I made the cake myself. Hahaha. It was pretty embarrassing. But luckily this was for a very casual elopement, not a big wedding, otherwise I would have been pretty pissed. My parents did pay a decent amount of money for this, roughly $275. I've seen far better from Walmart's bakery. The shop got stars for the following... Cake flavor: very good! I ordered the champagne cake with strawberry filling for the bottom tier and chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling for the top tier. All covered in white chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake and fillings were delicious. The frosting was a little gritty, I assume from using granulated sugar, but still tasty. A little too sweet for my liking but it was still good. The cake layers were nice and thick. Customer service: Great! Response time from the shop was excellent. They promptly responded to my emails on the quote and design request. I called the shop when it was about time to pick up my cake and didn't reach anyone at first, but they called me right back. I guess I could have called the shop to let them know the issues with the cake but I have a feeling once the cake leaves their shop in good condition, they would put the blame on the customer. I just won't use them again, for cakes anyways. Anyways, thanks for reading and check out my Mad Hatter cake.

UPDATE: Well, folks…read morewe have heard back from the bakery's "Will M" who takes NO responsibility for the unusual and unheard of practice of hiding plastic straws in the cake and covering it with frosting. Has anyone ever bought an 8-inch cake with 3 thin cake layers and found plastic straws imbedded in it? Yeah, me neither. Nice try Willie, deflecting from the truth with an attack about how I spoke on the phone with your rude employee Joe who got hysterical about my plans to note this experience on Yelp. I was never angry nor abusive when calling to inform the management about the cake issues. I had zero demands, just a request that a bakery manager or owner return my call --of course no one did. The facts are simple, I live in North Carolina and ordered this cake by phone. I had this small cake delivered by a florist who picked up the cake and delivered it with flowers to my 86 year-old parents, (for Mother's Day) one of whom is wheelchair bound and doesn't leave the house. This was noted at the time of the order and explained to the nice young lady who took the order as to why a florist would be picking up the cake. So how does one photograph transparent pieces of plastic in a cake slice, Willie? The cake was inedible. Periodt. Now, instead of recognizing the situation as an opportunity to repair the situation, keep a customer loyal and repair the bakery's reputation, perhaps even reevaluate or change your weird practice of hiding straws in cakes or even an offer to make good somehow, Willie M. chose to be defense and aggressive. I believe warning people about hidden plastic straws in desserts is exactly why we all read YELP reviews. Seriously, do not waste your time and money ordering anything from the AK cake studio. Not taking accountability for a self-inflicted screw up is a major red flag. Their immense number of negative reviews should have been my first red flag. Oh well. Go elsewhere , folks and enjoy a cake that doesn't require plastic rods to hold it in place. Those plastic straws shred when you cut into the cake leaving plastic particles through out the slices. What a dumb practice. Original post: Weird experience that resulted in throwing out the entire cake! Apparently this bakery inserts plastic straws called "supports" into their cakes to "stabilize" them. These straws are not visible and customers have no way to know these straws are hidden in the cake. My 86 year old parents received this chocolate cake and upon eating it found numerous plastic particles through out their slice. Of course they threw it out! They only let me know yesterday as I mentioned ordering another for my Dad. They were adamant I not use this bakery again. So of course I called the bakery today to describe the issue about a cake I ordered for Mother's Day. I asked to speak with the owner or manager and was told by "Joe" neither was in today. I explained the issue and Joe began a bit of a rant about why they use plastic hidden supports due to instability of the fillings and butter in the cake. I asked if there was anyway a recipient would know of these straws and was told there is a label on the box that say something about "supports." I don't know that any cake customer who would know that supports means plastic clear straws through out the cake and said so. Also told Joe that had I known these invisible cake straws were hidden inside the cake, I would not have ordered from them. I asked him to have the management call me with a plan to rectify this bad experience because my parents threw the cake out after finding plastic particles in their servings. Joe's attitude got hostile when I said if nothing happens I will go on Yelp to warn future customers about these plastic supports. He took that as a threat and said so claiming I was trying to "harm the business." I told him how is it harming the business to warn customers this bakery uses hidden plastic straws in their cakes? Again, these straws are not visible (they are clear plastic, do not protrude above the cake's surface and are fragile enough to be broken when cutting into the cake.) I suggested they not use these straws as any customer would be badly surprised by that practice. Of course he tells me no one has ever complained (to him) about it before. He refused to tell me the first name of any manager or owner! Who does that? He told me he would pass on my message but somehow I really dont think he will. I will update this review should this bakery fix this experience. I cannot believe how unpleasant "Joe" was and how irrational he became. Ugh. Do yourselves a favor and get a better experience and a "stable" cake elsewhere in Anchorage.

I brought a friend and her two younger kids, who are still learning English. I was helping them understand the different flavors because they're leaving Alaska tomorrow and really wanted to have ice cream one last time. The employee in the orange shirt seemed extremely impatient while they were trying to sample flavors. They only tried two, and she eventually stopped listening to what they were asking. I understand it was late, and everyone has bad days, but the attitude was unnecessary. What really shocked me was when there was a misunderstanding and she accidentally scooped the wrong flavor. Instead of throwing it away, she ate the scoop of ice cream herself right in front of us. That was honestly so unprofessional and made me question the hygiene standards. We just ordered our ice cream and left because we didn't want to make a scene. I know one employee doesn't represent the entire business, and I've had good experiences here before. But if you're representing a local Alaska business that visitors may remember as part of their Alaska experience, customer service matters. I really hope management addresses this.

Each tart had its own unique flavor, perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which made it way too easy to keep reaching for another. The chocolate raspberry cake was a standout--rich, moist, and layered with just the right amount of tartness from the raspberry filling.
