It turns out to be a full-service espresso joint with in-house baked goods. Mostly cupcakes and cookies. There are a few brunch or lunch type of menu items but it is fairly limited. The food that was in the cooler looked good, there were also a few hot dishes to be offered. I was visiting with the person behind the counter and I started to pick up real quick that this person had skin in the game and a passion for baking cakes, cupcakes, pies, and she added that she could make any dessert that a person could want. I am well aware that the most important ingredient in any kitchen is passion. It is apparent that they are buying in bulk! She told me that she will be making a lot of pies for Thanksgiving, pretty much any flavor that you could want. Custom cakes are the specialty. When a gawdy, airbrushed, cake with a doll on it from Carrs it's just a little bit too tacky for your occasion, this will be your place! I wound up walking out with three different flavors of cookies. I just wanted to make sure that they were good if I was going to write about the place. They were! My doctor says that I've got no place eating cookies. But hey, if I'm going to break bad, this is where I'm going to do it. The cookies reminded me of mom's kitchen when I was a little boy. I think I teared up a little bit when I got to the chocolate chip. I can say that they earned a very solid four stars. The fifth star is always reserved for consistency. Each tart had its own unique flavor, perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which made it way too easy to keep reaching for another. The chocolate raspberry cake was a standout--rich, moist, and layered with just the right amount of tartness from the raspberry filling. What really surprised me was how satisfying everything tasted without feeling heavy or overly sweetened--and even better, it didn't spike my blood sugar the way most desserts do. You can tell there's intention behind the ingredients and how everything is made. They also have plenty of other baked goods like cookies, brownies, and more, so there's definitely something for everyone. The staff are friendly, and the bakery itself is so cute--such a welcoming little spot that makes the experience even better. Why are they my favorite? Because there simply isn't anyone better. Most of their recipes are really tasty, but sometimes (like today) they're super dry because they serve things that have been apparently left out too long and/or baked a touch too long. The last time I custom ordered a cake, there was a hair in it. And for the price I paid, I was shocked at how small it was. This seems to be the norm in Alaska. Owning a bakery must have high overhead. Overall, I do support cAKe, given that I've heard absolute HORROR stories about cake orders gone wrong from other places in town,, especially for weddings and other large events, I'll stick with the devil I know.

The inside had a light cream filling, and the top was covered with the same Ube cream. It was good, but not quite as amazing as the Croffle -- 7/10. The Ham Banh Mi was tasty and filling (6/10), and the Boba Milk Tea was decent too (6/10). Oh and I got to taste their smoked salmon chowder that my friend ordered. Very good flavor, body, and richness (8/10). Everything I had was good but nothing that was as memorable as the Ube Croffle, but it wasn't cheap -- I spent a total $32 for a sandwich, drink and 2 pastries.
