Yellowtail collar
Laura L.

Best katsu place in Las Vegas! Outside was crispy with not too thick of the breading. The pork inside was tender. You get to crush your own sesame seeds for the tonkatsu sauce as well. Favorite dish was definitely the kabocha (pumpkin) and the pickled vegetables. Next time, would love to get their Vegetable set! Also the dressing/sauce that they used for the yellowtail collar was fantastic! Inside was a nice ambiance - perfect for a date or a small friend hangout. Parking is tough typically at this plaza so aim to come a bit earlier to find a spot.

Tried a place that we heard of, but never tried before, Ton Shou. It's located in China town. We came for an early dinner, about 445pm. We found parking out front, and was promptly seated. So, my tip is to come early or during off times, because there were only 2 other tables occupied when we arrived, when we left at about 545pm, the restaurant was packed! Apparently, this place is popular, and I can see why! This place is known for their tonkatsu, so I ordered the katsudon, the other entree ordered was an unagidon. Patience. They make their food to order and waiting is worth it! For the price, the portions are very fair! You get your own pot of steamed rice, some side dishes, and miso soup. Both of the entree were really good, and the katsu was super thick! Overall, the meal was great, and can't wait to return and try more items!

Winner-winner tonkasu lunchner! It's all in the crunch! Non-greasy, crispy (not hard) crunchy panko crust, & juicy meat inside. Ambiance & friendly service rounds out this top spot. We went between lunch & dinner to get in without a wait.

I made a return visit to Ton Shou Katsu & Izakaya, located in Chinatown at The Center at Spring Mountain near Wynn. It's nice they open late! Inside is cozy and lively with good seating for a table and by the bar. Music is awesome! They have a great playlist by Bob Moses, the songs are fantastic, fun vibe, and relaxing atmosphere. Menu offers a nice selection of starter, carpaccio, oyster, Katsu, donburi, sando, udon and ramen, as well as sashimi, mikizushi roll, special roll, nigiri, chef's special, grill, and skewers. For refreshments, they have highball, hot sake, flavored sake, nigori, premium Japanese beer, red wine, white wine, Japanese soda, Japanese iced tea, hot tea, soft drink, and juice. I ordered Kabocha Katsu Bite ($11), tasty and very good! It's crispy breaded Kabocha squash bites, lightly fried and served golden with tartare sauce. Also tried Tonshou Crunch Roll ($19), it's chef's special sushi roll, inside has black tiger shrimp tempura with tamago, kani stick, ginger, cabbage, pickled radish, outside has panko crunch, served with sando and katsu sauce. For dessert, you can ask what's available. It's not listed on the menu but they have mochi, cheesecake, and ice cream. I chose Matcha Green Tea Cheesecake ($8), it's imported from Japan, plated with powdered sugar and rich chocolate drizzle. Also had Ube ice cream ($2.95), which nicely pairs with Matcha Green Tea Cheesecake, ice cream is velvety smooth, has a lovely sweetness, and fantastic Ube flavor, so YUM! Service from Leah and Kevin is very kind, welcoming, courteous, attentive, helpful, and friendly!

There was a huge line waiting for the restaurant to open in the morning. This restaurant definitely deserves all of the high ratings! Everything was delicious from the speciality sushi rolls to the katsu dishes. The katsu was thick, moist, and crispy. It also came with a generous serving of rice, miso soup, salad, and pickled vegetables. The toro sushi was delicious with the best sauce in it! I got on the waitlist and it took a little over an hour to get a table. There are coffee shops and stores around to do shopping which is nice to kill some time while waiting.

Came in with a group of friends for my friend's birthday party on a Friday night. We were the loud group in the back (sorry! LOL). This restaurant is stunning and located on Spring Mountain. If you're getting there a bit later in the evening, especially on a Friday, be warned about parking. It can be a bit harder to find. So if you have a reservation, just make sure to take that into consideration with your timing. Leah was our server and she was outstanding. Not once getting annoyed with how ridiculous we were. We all decided to order a bunch of things and split them. This menu is absolutely incredible so you really can't go wrong with anything here. It's now my third time eating here! From what I had was the edamame, which I ate entirely by myself haha. I also had the avocado crispy rice. SOOO damn good. I was so sad I couldn't have any of the sushi (pregnant...) but I have had it before and it's literally so good. The bluefin is my favorite. I split a couple things with my sister in law and my friend. We got the katsu ramen, soooo good. And then also the japanese wagyu cheeseburger. Everyone at the table ended up ordering that and they were all blown away. Thank god, cuz I really hyped it up haha. It was delicious!! Seriously if I could eat here multiple times a week, I would. Definitely becoming one of my favorite spots and I can't wait to come back after the baby and have some darn good sushi!!

Ebi Katsu

We came for the first time with friends. The service was ok, the ambiance was cute but the restaurant was kinda small. I was a little disappointed on the food. We ordered a sushi roll (forgot the name) and shrimp katsu. I also ordered tea. The tea was not good. I was kinda surprised. The sushi was okay but for the price, I expected better. The ebi katsu came with rice and a soup. The soup I wasn't a big fan of. The ebi was the highlight of the meal. They were big and tasty. Overall, not sure if I'll come back but glad to try it out.

I randomly came upon this restaurant as I was craving some chicken katsu. I'm so glad that I did! Everything was so delicious...from the chicken to the curry. I really enjoyed the miso soup as well. The workers were also friendly, and had really great customer service skills!

Uni pasta

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and I'm sooo glad I finally did! Checked in on Yelp and the wait was less than 5 minutes. We got there around 7pm on a Wednesday, and it wasn't crowded at all (we definitely beat the rush because it started filling up right after). The place is dim with personal lights but cute! They place good music as well! We were greeted and seated right away. I originally came in wanting katsu, but ended up ordering the uni pasta, Japanese wagyu cheeseburger, and truffle fries. Just kept it simple with water for drinks. The uni pasta came out first and WOW--so creamy and flavorful. My only complaint is that it didn't come with any whole pieces of uni, not even on top. Still really good, but I'd love that extra touch next time. The burger was such a cool experience--the waitress brought it out and poured the cheese fondue tableside over a sizzling plate. Definitely video-worthy! And it tasted just as good as it looked. The cheese sauce had some kind of onion mixed in that made it even better. Truffle fries were crispy wedge-style, but the portion was a bit small. Shoutout to Leah, our waitress--she was super nice, friendly, and attentive, checking in on us often. Another staff member was also consistently refilling our water, which I appreciated. Overall, such a great experience. This is definitely going to be one of our go-to spots. Can't wait to come back!

Ridiculously good tonkatsu. Loved the fried cook. The crispy rice was also a must get. Staff was awesome and very quick to help.

Brought my husband here for lunch after I attended the Yelp Elite event (THE best one!). We got there 5 min. after they opened and no one was at the front so we walked about a quarter way in when a worker saw us and let the server know we were waiting. I got the tonkotsu ramen and he got the rosu katsu set. I saw that they had sukiyaki on the menu but no longer - the menu I saw was from about a year ago. The ramen, BTW, is one of the best things on the menu! The tonkotsu broth was deeeelicious! Better than some ramen joints! Husband loved his katsu and also enjoyed the miso soup. Ton Shou is definitely one of the best in Vegas. Yum I was our server and she was great.

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 We stopped by Ton Shou for lunch during our Vegas trip. Located in a Chinatown strip mall about 15 minutes from the Strip, it's a small but beautifully designed space with a clean, and welcoming vibe. Service was warm and attentive from the start. We shared the pork and chicken katsu sets which were crispy and golden on the outside, tender and juicy inside, with generous portions and sides. We got to grind sesame seeds at the table to make our own dipping sauce, which added a rich, nutty flavor and a novelty touch to the meal. Easily some of the best katsu we've had. Overall, a great spot we'd happily return to when we're in Vegas again.

Wow, I don't usually go to Izakaya restaurants, but this restaurant's food is amazing. I liked it so much I had to go back a second time to try more dishes! I had the Katsu, Sushi, Sashimi, and Sando. Their Katsu is their signature dish, and even though it just looks like fried pork it is not greasy at all, it has a crispy outside and delicious juicy inside. Their sashimi and sushi dishes are fresh and you can tell the ingredient quality compared to many other Vegas sushi restaurants. They are good side dishes but I would still recommend one of the Katsu as your main dish. If you are here for lunch I also really like the Sando, just beware the portion size is pretty generous! Their desserts are also worth trying, especially if you like Asian style desserts which have less sugar. I tried their green tea ice cream and cheesecake.

Somehow we stumbled into Izakaya Go, and let me tell you... this place is legit. First off, they have happy hour after 10 PM, which already makes it a win for late-night Vegas wanderers like us. Everything we ordered hit the spot. The tonkotsu ramen was comforting, rich, and flavorful. Exactly what you want after a long night out. The deep-fried shrimp and tuna were fried perfectly with a nice crisp texture. If it wasn't so late, I probably would've kept ordering more. But the real star? The Otoro (bluefin tuna belly) sashimi. Absolute must order. It literally melts in your mouth and had zero fishy smell, just pure buttery goodness. My wife isn't usually a sushi person, but she ended up loving it and ate way more than I expected. That alone should tell you something. If you're in Vegas and looking for a late-night Japanese spot that actually delivers, put Izakaya Go in your Yelp bookmarks. Your future late-night self will thank you.

Customer service was on point from start to finish, and every dish came out fresh and hot. We ordered a variety of items off the menu and were honestly impressed across the board. The gyoza ($6) was perfectly pan-fried with a great crispy bottom, and the filling was packed with flavor. The dipping sauce had just the right hint of spice to bring it all together. The takoyaki ($6) were hands down some of the best we've had at any restaurant. Super crispy on the outside, and when you bite in, the inside just melts and oozes out, so good and full of flavor. The squid leg karaage ($10) was a great starter. Squeezing fresh lemon over it and dipping it in the mayo and spicy sauce combo made it even better. Definitely recommend this one. We were especially excited about the soft shell crab ($9) since it's hard to find it served on its own. It did not disappoint... perfect crunch, great flavor, and the dipping sauce really elevated it. The tonkatsu curry ($13) was a standout. The jasmine rice was cooked perfectly, the curry had rich flavor with tender carrots throughout, and the katsu was fried to perfection... crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Easily a 10/10 dish. The curry udon ($9) is perfect if you're craving something comforting...just curry and noodles done right. The udon ($8) had a flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles, simple but executed really well. The crazy dragon roll ($13) was definitely a highlight. The amount of eel on top was impressive, and the roll itself was a great size. Everything from the rice to the flavor balance was spot on. Every dish that came out had us smiling, we genuinely enjoyed everything we tried. Highly recommend this spot, and we'll definitely be back again soon!

On the particular evening that we went, either they were extra busy and had too much customers from CES... but they ran out of sushi rice and did not have any hand rolls....How does a Japanese restaurant run out of rice??? We were super disappointed and ended up just getting skewers. Itzakaya Tora, you definitely need to step up your game and have better management in the future for these big events. I don't think they are that new of a restaurant, but they definitely let me down. Chicken and pork skewers ($2 per skewer, 7/10) - super juicy! You can definitely taste the charcoal and barbecue flavor. They do a great job of keeping each skewer, moist and juicy, that I didn't feel like I was eating burnt skewers like you get at some other restaurants. - $2 per skewer is pretty good for the happy hour deal, but I think it's much more expensive during the regular menu option. Don't think it would be particularly worth it with their regular menu. Overall, super disappointed that they didn't have any more of their sushi, rice and best do not have any $5 hand rolls during their happy hour. Also, the wait was super long to get in, and they were definitely understaffed. If they had all their food selections available, this would probably be a higher rating, but the long weight and lack of menu items was super disappointing.

It has a warm ambient glow that makes the whole place feel intimate, but noise levels can be a bit high due to the close proximity of the tables and lack of noise buffer. Their drink menu is also creative, with unique cocktails and seasonal specials worth exploring. We tried a bunch of different food items: Takoyaki balls: the BEST balls ever! And that's saying a lot because we've been to Japan ! Takoyaki itself is a classic Osaka street food, traditionally made with diced octopus in a savory batter cooked in molded griddles. Here at Hachi, these takoyaki balls are crispy on the outside with a soft center, sitting abed a rich mayo-based sauce. What makes these stand out is the contrast with the balls of delicious and, instead of a fully liquid sauce, there are small chunks of cream cheese blended in, so you have bites of that with the battered balls! Agedashi Tofu: Lightly fried tofu served in a delicate dashi broth. The exterior is soft with a bit of crisp, while the inside stays silky and custard-like. The broth is clean and, if I dare say, savory but light. Basically a punch of umami and extremely balanced! Karaage: They are known for their chicken karaage, and it absolutely delivers. The chicken lightly coated and fried until golden and crisp while staying incredibly juicy inside. Each bite has a satisfying crunch followed by tender, flavorful meat! I highly recommend pairing it with the negi sauce, which delivers a a tangy vinegar-based scallion sauce that cuts through the fat and oils, and it deeply enhances the flavor of the chicken. Yakitori Skewers: Yakitori is a traditional Japanese grilling style where small skewers of meat are cooked over charcoal. The focus is on simple flavors utilizing high-quality ingredients. We tried a mix of skewers, which comes with a slice of lemon on top to be squeezed over the skewers: * Wagyu skewers: rich, buttery, and cooked to perfection * Beef tongue: more chewy and textured, so not a huge fan of it * Chicken skin: ultra crispy with rendered fat and a satisfying crunch * Pork belly with green onions: fatty, smoky, and balanced by the freshness of scallions We also ordered a fresh scallop skewer, grilled shrimp with tartar sauce, and eel. The scallops were sweet and tender with 3 pieces per skewer. The shrimp was cooked and de-shelled and served with a tartar sauce. The eel was the most memorable with its rich, tender, and deeply savory taste. Eel (unagi) is considered a delicacy in Japanese cuisine where it's known for its sweet glaze and soft texture. Our favorites were definitely the eel and scallop skewers.
