This place is amazing! I love the atmosphere and vibe. My nephew was in town visiting and told me about it so we came to check it out together. He mentioned that the waitresses dress up like anime girls and sometimes come around and feed you samples or your food that you ordered. Well, we came in very late at night so I guess they do not do it then? The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered a lot of different items, and none of them disappointed. I had the Fried Tofu in Dashi and OMG was it so good! It had some weird things moving on it that freaked me out but my nephew told me that was normal while it was hot. It was soo good!! I almost ordered a second round! We shared the Wagyu Assortment and it was fantastic! And please order the Japanese Chicken Wings because they were to die for! I have to come back here again really soon because the food is amazing!
Cute little place near UNLV in Paradise, NV. Their service is a tiny bit slow but food came out extremely fast. Fried oysters were crispy and yummy Agedashi tofu was made well - but not enough dashi broth Japanese pickles - not your typical pickling method. Savory and salty, not sweet. Good palette cleanser. Beef tongue - nice and tender. Great grilled flavor Assorted premium wagyu grilled meats - same as beef tongue. Delicious. Skewers - I got chicken and pork belly. All cooked well but missing some salt With all the good food, I fully expected the Matcha waffle to be amazing. The presentation was beautiful. BUT it is one of the worse desserts I have ever had. The waffle was dense with a weird texture and aftertaste. The warabi mochi was hard (supposed to be soft). Even the matcha ice cream was barely edible. It was grainy. Do not get the dessert.
excellent late night spot to hang out and try a variety of foods . the menu is really extensive yet every single thing i ordered, i really liked. I think even pickiest of eaters would find something to eat on the menu . i really enjoyed the wagyu bento box , that was probably my favorite, but every dish was good . The servers were very friendly and attentive . the interior is well decorated and definitely has a lot of character . Parking lot is large so parking is easy . I definitely want to come back again next time i'm in vegas .
If you're looking for an Izakaya from the more Eastern part of Las Vegas, this is your best bet. This place has potential as they have a great variety of Japanese food and drinks available. This place has yakitori, sushi, ramen, rice bowls, sake, high balls and everything you can imagine that you'd want from an Izakaya without having to go to China town. The food is pretty standard and nothing short of it. The ambiance of the place is pretty simple as they have decor on the wall and in the restaurant to create a clean feeling for an Izakaya without being so loud with the decor. Although the servers were really nice and helpful, the one thing that does dock this place down for me is the service was really slow. We were probably the only people there at first in the beginning before more people started showing up. We were able to get a few of our dishes, but then they seemed to have prioritized the bigger groups orders over ours. It got to the point where we were tired of waiting and they knew it. It was a bit of a wait for us to even check out with whatever food we got, but they were still nice and apologized about it. This place definitely has potential, they just have to be able to dish out all the food they have to offer.
Casual place off the strip for some yakitori and japanese food. What I ordered: - Tebasaki - A5 Wagyu Beef - Beef Skirt - Short Rib - Beef Bowl - Pork Belly (Tare) - Robata Beef Tongue - Chicken Thigh (Salt) - Chicken Thigh (Tare) - Chicken Thigh w/ Plum & Shiso Leaf (Ume Shiso) - Chicken Thigh w/ Daikon Radish & Ponzu (Oroshi Ponzu) - Chicken Thigh w/ Citron Pepper (Yuzu Pepper) - Chicken Thigh w/ Wasabi - King Oyster Mushroom For the chicken skewers it's hard to beat Toridokoro Raku but Izakaya Shun is decent and I believe slightly more affordable. I would return for their chicken wings, wagyu beef and beef bowl. They also do a maid-themed cafe event on certain days, which could be an interesting experience depending on what you're looking for. Plenty of parking, which is always a plus though service was friendly but a little slow.
izakaya shun is located by the unlv campus and has lots of authentic japanese shareable plates and yakitori. i also like the decor and how it feels you're briefly transported to an izakaya in an alley in tokyo. it's open late too and has lots of options for drinks (chuhaiiiii). my favorite orders have to be the tebaski chicken wing, honey butter sweet potatoes, and the tsukunes (all four are really good but i think my favorite is the plum and shiso leaf). there is a good variety of options of cooked or food and the portion size allows you to try a lil bit of everything. everyone's always super friendly here and the service is quick.
Our party of 6 arrived shortly before 5 pm on a Saturday and we didn't want to deal with any wait. Izakaya Shun is a true izakaya with so many drink options and bites to share. There's writings on the wall which just makes it feel even more like an izakaya. The menu is extensive with plenty of beef protein options, grilled dishes, yakitori, carpaccios, sushi, hot appetizers, salad, ramen, rice bowls, and desserts that include waffles and warabi mochi. For our family of four, we ordered: * 3 American Wagyu Assortment $24.80 - Our favorite of the three was the short rib. It's served with wasabi, which is my favorite condiment for steak since returning from Japan. * Scallop Carpaccio $14.80 - This was a favorite of ours. * Fried Oysters $8.80 - This was a favorite, and we got another order. * Tsukimi Tsukune with Poached Egg $8.80 * Grilled Stingray Fin $6.80 - Their version is bit more chewier. * 2 Pork with Ume Shiso $3.30/each * 2 Pork with Citron Pepper $3.30/each * Ankimo $5.80 * Fried Tofu in Dashi $6.80 * Negi Hama Roll $8 * Warabi Mochi $3.98 Our food was good and service was good too. Our dining companions didn't have as great of an experience unfortunately. Their pork skewers had a faint smell of whatever they use to grill the pork and the taste associated with it as well. Unfortunately, that left a lasting impression on her. But we enjoyed our visit nonetheless.
Izakaya Shun is located on Maryland and Tropicana near Harmon. You'll find them at Runnin' Rebel Plaza near Lefty J's Island Favorites. There's plenty of parking. Inside is spacious, inviting, beautifully decorated with cherry blossoms, Japanese lanterns, and wall drawings of the menu, there's plenty of seating and relaxing music. Menu offers a nice selection of charcoal grilled such as A5 wagyu, yakitori beef, chicken, pork, kurobuta sausage, as well as quick bites, appetizers, carpaccio, special roll, sashimi, chirashi bowl, ramen, donburi, and desserts. For refreshments, they have sake, draft beer sapporo, shochu (traditional Japanese distilled spirit), chu-hi, soft drinks, plum wine, wine, and champagne. I ordered quick bites for Japanese Pickles ($5.80) and Cold Tofu ($4.80). Cold Tofu is simple, topped with chopped green onions, ginger, and bonito flakes. Japanese Pickles is light and tasty, has yellow pickled radish (daikon), cucumbers, seaweed, and cabbage. I tried a small appetizer for Shrimp Tempura ($8.80) and request mayonnaise on the side. Shrimp is fried golden crispy, served over mixed greens with tomatoes, and the mayo is a great dipping sauce. For dessert, they have waffles for Berry Berry, Matcha Anko, and Choco Banana, including ice cream and mochi. I love Warabi Mochi ($3.98), it's Japanese Jelly Sweets served as six pieces, the texture is delightful, soft, chewy, bouncy, and so yummy with brown sugar syrup. Japanese Ice Cream ($3.98) is good too! Instead of Vanilla, I asked for Matcha Ice Cream, and they are nice to accommodate. Matcha ice cream is creamy, sprinkled with kinako powder, and has a wonderful sweetness from brown sugar syrup, it's really good! Service from Momo and Jasmine is so kind, welcoming, attentive, accommodating, and friendly! There were a couple of birthday parties. They have additional seating in the back, you can bring a cake and they'll light the candles for you, and play a lovely Happy Birthday song, it's very cool!
Came here after watching the Mortal Kombat movie was looking for something that was close to the house and stumbled upon this restaurant We were greeted and sat right away. They had a lot of options. We weren't really sure what to get. We decided to get the steak sampler which was the highlight. It was absolutely delicious. We got some chicken karage which was good. It came with a lot and a sushi platter we also got a carpaccio which we actually sent back because we did not like it at all!! would they nicely, took off the bill and let us exchange it for the calamari and the calamari was very good. We will definitely return to this place. It's nice that it's close to the house and supposedly their Ramen is in the top 100 list on Yelp so definitely will have to come back and check that out if you're in the area, don't skip this place. Its worth the stop stop
When I'm in Vegas, I always wanna try great Izakaya places and came upon this new place. Wow, what a great find for a new place off the strip. As soon as we walked in, we greeted nicely and got seated right away. Looking through the menu, they have different kind of choices and also they put some special menu on the wall as well, very Tokyo style. Everything that we had was so umami. The tebasaki is a winner, we had to order twice. It's very crispy and juicy on the inside, not dry or overly fried as well. The a5 wagyu is just melt in your mouth and the croquette, is the best I've ever had. It's perfectly creamy, light and crispy. The service is very attentive as well. Definitely will go back here when we're in Vegas again!
I stopped by for a late snack and was pleasantly surprised with how good the yakitori was. I ordered the chicken wings, pork belly with daikon and ponzu, chicken thigh, skirt steak, and wagyu beef skewer. I highly recommend the skirt steak and wagyu. The beef was so tender, well seasoned, and you could taste the fire from the charcoal. It was so good that we had to get another order. The chicken wings were also delicious and crispy. I would definitely recommend this place as the service is quick and friendly, and the food is very good and appropriately priced.
I got here on Thursday night and was seated really quickly. I ordered the Tebaski Chicken Wings, Chicken Thigh (Tare), A5 Wagyu Beef, Wagyu Skirt and the Pork Belly. I love that you can order individual items based on your hunger level. My favorite was the Wagyu skirt as it was more grilled while still being super tender and flavorful. The A5 Wagyu beef, and the chicken thigh were also good, but nothing outstanding. The chicken wings were a little bit salty for my liking but it was crisp. I've had a similar experience in Japan and would say the ones there had more of a grilled flavor.
Very good chicken wing, definitely recommend. Sashimi slices are fresh and good sizes. Screwers have many choices in tastes. Over all worth to drive out to give it a try. And it opens LATE!

This place has been bookmarked for a few months now, and I finally checked it out today. The interior was beautiful and the vibe was great. Everyone was really nice, and the service was excellent. I ordered chicken hearts, A5 wagyu beef, and pork belly skewers. We also got the beef bowl, fried calamari, and spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna roll was on the smaller side and was just okay. The calamari and beef bowl were amazing. I finished the beef bowl fast. The pork belly and wagyu skewers were absolutely outstanding! Tender and perfectly seasoned. They were so good that I went ahead and ordered more. They totally exceeded my expectations. This place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

We originally were going to eat at chipotle when we stumbled upon this restaurant. Great food, good service, and reasonably priced. The ramen was $18.80, the karaage mayo bowl was $9.80, and the wagyu was $20.80 and let me tell you it was worth every penny. The wagyu was my favorite as the meat just melts in your mouth. The karaage was also really good very flavorful and crispy. My family prefers the ramen broth to be a little more rich but it was okay. The restaurant was empty when we went around 8pm but don't let that stop you. We're so glad we decided to check it out. read more

We decided to come here for dinner for dinner as we wanted something chill and and off the strip. We ordered a good assortment of items to share. I enjoyed the variety of skewers, chicken wings, karaage, American wagyu assortment, and the chasu bowl. The prices were reasonable with decent portion sizes. read more
no alcohol?!!! Good food but to me izakaya=beer, sake, and nihonshu so I took a star off. I will not return until they get their liquor license. How can you eat this with water and soft drinks? Also, I felt their food was a bit bland... I ended up using the salt and shichimi on the table. Good interior and vibe though. I wish the construction would end soon too read more

I recently had the chance to dine at Izakaya Shun, and it ended up being such a pleasant surprise. We honestly didn't know what to expect going in. We were in town visiting our daughter, who attends University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and since she had class that evening, dinner ended up being a bit late. We were also celebrating my wife's birthday, so we were just looking for something good and close to our hotel--not too far, not too complicated. Izakaya Shun checked all the boxes, and we're really glad we gave it a try. From the moment we walked in, the vibe felt relaxed and welcoming--exactly what you'd hope for in an izakaya. The food was where this place really stood out. The 3 American Wagyu Assortment (flap, short rib, and ichibo/picanha) was excellent--cooked perfectly medium rare, juicy, and incredibly tender. That was definitely a highlight of the night. The chirashi bowl was also very good, fresh and well-balanced. And something that might sound simple but really impressed us--the Kurobuta sausage skewers--were absolutely delicious. We also saved room for dessert, and I'm glad we did. The Japanese ice cream with brown sugar syrup was a nice sweet finish, but the standout was the choco banana waffle with vanilla ice cream, banana slices, and chocolate syrup--that was hands down the best! Service was another highlight. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that two of our servers were from Hawaii--just like us. That small connection made the experience feel even more special. Overall, what started as a convenient dinner option turned into a really memorable birthday celebration. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'd definitely come back again. read more

Service is quite fast and attentive. Food comes out quickly and hot. Ambiance is a cute Japanese theme. The various Japanese sodas here made me quite happy and paired well with dinner. Although I don't drink, they don't have a liquor license, but will get one soon. House salad with fresh ginger sesame dressing was quite refreshing. Yellowtail carpaccio with sesame had a deep flavor I enjoyed, though the sashimi pieces themselves were quite thin. There was a lot of onion on the top which I didn't end up eating all of. Chicken with plum and shiso was a bit lacking in ume but otherwise cooked perfectly. Pork belly with daikon and radish was also cooked perfectly, though I couldn't really taste the Ponzi. A5 wagyu beef skewer was a bit fatty and overcooked. Flavor was ok, though we needed to salt it. I feel like it could use more of a crust/char, though that could be personal preference. A tare version of this would be delicious. Shiitake mushrooms and king oyster skewers were also cooked perfectly juicy, though lacking a bit in flavor. The highlight of the meal was definitely the karaage which was cooked perfectly juicy and had a satisfyingly crunchy shell. We ended up ordering the chicken thigh and the pork belly tare style and these were honesty the best way to enjoy the skewers here. read more
The restaurant is very new. The environment is cute they have friendly Japanese music playing. The decor is very cute. The staff was very friendly. I was checked on by 3 different waiters and they were all very attentive even if they weren't the one to take my order. Love the team work! House salad: spring mix with cucumbers and red onions. The wafu dressing was on the saltier side but I liked it with the cucumbers very distinct ginger sesame flavors that tasted home made. Loved it! 3pc chicken karaage: crispy and hot! Well flavored and paired well with the kewpie mayo. I would order this again. Yellowtail carpaccio: the sashimi was sliced thin and there was an excessive amount of shredded red onion. But the sauce was good. I ordered the following yakitori sticks and they all needed a little more char, but the tare was very good. They were all cooked through some were a little over cooked. Eggplant with bonito flakes: good flavor, could use a little salt before cooking Shiitake mushroom: good but could have used a little salt before cooking King oyster mushroom: really good with the meats Chicken meatball: really good, I asked for more tare to eat with it. Chicken thigh tare: really good, perfectly cooked not over done Pork belly ume shiso: a little over done but good could have used more Ume paste Pork belly tare: perfectly cooked really good flavor! Chicken thigh ume shiso: a little over done but still good could have used more ume paste A5 wagu: really good cuts of meat, could have used salt before cooking My only real complaint is that the rice needs to be fluffed occasionally because I had some mushy rice and some hard rice in my bowl. read more
Absolutely loved everything we tried. Special shoutout to the spicy garlic edamame which I forgot to get a pic of. Our server was super kind and attentive. We went sunday night so it wasn't busy at all. They also had sweet treats to buy and take home so ofc we tried a handful of candies and snacks. Our fav dish was the beef skirt. Sooo tender and the sauce it came with was the cherry on top. The ramen was great and is served with pork. The chicken kaarage was GREAT. We asked for the sauce the steak was served with and honestly used it with everything. Can't wait to go back to this spot to try some desserts. read more

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! FANTASTIC! AMAZING! DELICIOUS! What more can I say?! My hubby's coworker spent time in Japan for 4 years and invited us to dine with him at this AUTHENTIC Japanese spot. This place does NOT disappoint. EVERYTHING was soooooooooooo good! We ordered a bunch of different dishes so that we can taste as much as we could. It was a great experience. The food is FANTASTIC! The service is great, the servers were dressed as maids for their Maid Event which happens every so often, not sure when exactly but it was a cute experience. It looked like they had a special event earlier so we missed that but nonetheless the servers were so cute and sweet. The ambiance was nice and cozy and perhaps a Japanese feel to it. I actually want to go back today! If you want REAL Authentic Japanese food that is delicious and fresh, this is YOUR new spot! I promise you will not be disappointed. You'd definitely be missing out if you decide to "shun" them. Izakaya Shun is a new Japanese restaurant that appears to be from the same folks who brought Ramen Ebisu to Henderson. Still on the east side but in the vicinity of UNLV, this new spot seats more people and has much less ramen, but more grilled skewers and apps and such. Cold Tofu ($3.80): very soft, topped with a decent amount of bonito and green onion, served w/ a sauce that doesn't really get soaked up by the tofu. Pretty good rendition though. Yellowtail Carpaccio ($11.80): looks like they must have found a sale on red onion and green onion at the local supermarket. Those toppings really drowned out the yellowtail, which was not bad when I got a taste. Wagyu skewer ($7.80): fat bomb on a skewer. The salt was a bit heavy-handed though. Tsukune w/ Tare ($2.80): tender and loose meatballs. The sauce was relatively rich, but the sauce portion was a bit low. Tsukune w/ Ume Shiso ($2.80): same meatballs, but more prominent flavor between the plum and the fragrant herb. Chicken Thigh w/ Salt ($2.80): the most straightforward and best of the thighs I tried tonight. The meat was juicy, but as with the other skewers, the binchotan was subtle if not absent. Chicken Thigh w/ Oroshi and Ponzu ($2.80): possibly a little blander simply because it's topped with a bunch of minced radish. Chicken Thigh w/ Wasabi ($2.80): maybe not the best topping since it's so potent and hard to balance, but I appreciated the variety. Grilled Stingray Fin ($5.80): a surprise since I've never tried it, but it tasted like some of the dried squid often sold in Asian supermarkets. It was also chewy but softer than those dehydrated proteins typically are. The lemon and the mayo sauce helped to temper some of the intense flavors here. I do think at least a few of the pieces were tough. Matcha Anko Waffle ($9.80): an actual showstopper dessert. Tasty liege waffle base, great matcha ice cream, delicious red bean, and soft chewy mochi served with a smoky molasses-like syrup. Every bit of it was lovely. Service was mostly solid, although they forgot about our check for a while at the end. Music seemed pretty Japanese and was lively but approachable. There was plenty of lighting, so I was able to appreciate all the food visually. I liked Izakaya Shun overall. The dessert was definitely the best part, and everything was affordable. Give them a try when you want a change from your usual spot. read more

A quaint izakaya that offers an ample variety of small bites. I love they included half portions to ramen so that I could try other tapas. The miso cucumber and the ramen were definitely higher on that salinity scale. Service is friendly and accommodating. Would possibly be back. read more

Incredible Flavor and Value The food at Izakaya Shun is fantastic, especially if you are looking for a great deal. The beef bowl is amazingly savory, and for about $13.30, it is an absolute steal. I visited with a group of four two of us had the beef bowl, and the other two ordered the chicken bowl. Every single one of us agreed that the food was excellent across the board. Highly recommend it for a satisfying and affordable meal! The ambiance is also great, it truly encompasses the feeling of Japan and the waitstaff are all nice. All this just across UNLV! read more

Great new spot for yakitori and other Japanese dishes!!! Izakaya Shun is located on Maryland Parkway - same shopping center as Cugino's (my favorite Italian deli) and Chipotle. The space is nicely decorated. I don't always want sushi and part of the challenge for me when looking for a place to eat is finding places that aren't sushi-heavy but also isn't ramen-heavy because I'm not that big on soup. Anyhow, I am always looking and happily found Izakaya Shun near UNLV and was really happy with the food options! They have a great selection of cold and hot appetizers/small plates, donburi (rice bowls). Options also include carpaccios - so you can still get that fix when craving a little raw fish, and a ramen - if you need soup! The focus is on yakitori and robata (grill items) which includes different types of chicken, pork, beef, and fish. They also have waffle desserts for your sweet tooth. Service was super friendly and attentive. I look forward to going back to try more things! read more
Brandnew authentic Japanese restaurant!! "Izakaya" is known for enjoying drinking... But they open lunch hours as well. Sister restaurant from Ebisu Ramen... I visited lunch hours with kids. Lunch Menu is simple but still they have quite variety. And set menu was with quite reasonable price. We ordered Miso ramen with mini Curry set. and Chashu Bowl. Ramen has strong taste and comparing to that, Chashu Bowl tastes a little less seasoned. But the Chashu was very soft and smoky. And the Chashu Bowl has big portion. I liked the taste of curry rice. The server was knowledgeable and very friendly! Interior is very bright still authentic atmosphere. And it was very clean. I'd love to come back and try Dinner menu!! read more
