And by deliver, I mean we damn near licked the plates clean. 10/10 recommend. We came late after catching a show in the strip and it was just what we wanted. I've been coming here for over 10 years, and the raw liver is still the standout dish. They no longer serve the ground chicken rice, which is a shame. We ordered two servings of the homemade tofu--definitely a highlight. The kinmedai kama, however, was disappointing--small, a bit stiff, and overly salty, especially around the fins. It is so fun to go to Japanese restaurants because of the atmosphere and the unique way they bring people together. Raku does this exceptionally well. Having traveled to Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Kyoto, coming to this restaurant has stirred up fond memories of my travels and the food was delicious. I am a vegetarian but I like the way the meat looks. Went there for the mapo tofu and they didn't offer it the night we went. So we ended up doing their omakase. Pleasantly surprised at their offerings. The duck meat with foie Gras was butter baby, so good. Their tofu soup was crispy yet so tender at the same time and the broth fuggedabout it. After missing agedashi tofu for months since leaving the Seattle area, I finally posed the question online about where I'd find the best here in Las Vegas! Several people pointed me in the right direction, even though I had actually attempted to go there after googling where I might find it! Such rave reviews were not unjustified! It was truly an experience not just for the palette but also for the senses! Such an exotic elegant setting and the presentation was exquisite! Still our favorite spot in Vegas. We always come here when we visit Vegas and it still does not disappoint. Service was delightful and spot on. It's easy enough to get to via Lyft/Uber. We loved everything we had this time. The Raku tofu is still very good; it's their home-made tofu. The oyaji tofu is a half portion of the same tofu with different fix-ns; chili crunch, preserves vegetables, etc. The blue fin tuna sashimi, juicy fried chicken, and fried ice fish were stand outs in addition to the tofu this time. I also love the condiments they have at the table - for use with the dishes. We were in Vegas for five nights this time and Raku easily beat other on-strip restaurants we went to as the best restaurant we dined at on this trip. Until next time! read more

Had a double date at Raku. We booked reservations a week in advance just in case. I thought the food was good but a bit pricey for what it was. Our server was tentative and gave some good recommendations. We ordered the raw liver, salad, mushrooms, fish head, sashimi, fried chicken, tofu and donburi with egg, uni, mushroom and okra. The uni bowl was probably my favorite bite. If given other options I'd probably check out other restaurants before coming back here given the price point. Celebrated a special occasion here over the weekend and needless to say it did not disappoint! We made a reservation ahead of time since they are packed and it's definitely recommended. We arrived and got seated immediately after checking in. Lights were dimmed to provide a more intimate, romantic ambiance. They don't have a huge menu and it was mostly robata grilled items with some sashimi/sushi specials. We decided to do the deluxe chef's menu and added some skewers on the side. That was quite the experience! The price tag was hefty, but the amount of food that we got, coupled with the presentation and the freshness of the ingredients made for one special dinner. Every course from tofu, appetizers, sashimi, to stone grilled wagyu and dessert were thoroughly explained to us by our server, and the order of presentation was very well thought of. We were very pleased with the chef's menu. Service was excellent for the most part. The check in served was rude, but the server more than made up for it with her wittiness and caring demeanor. This is the second place we have been here and its been great. The decor, the greet, and the service is what you can ask for in a Japanese restaurant. My husband and I stopped by Raku on Saturday night after a day of basketball action at NBA Summer League and had a delicious dinner! We were able to secure an 8PM reservation for 2 about an hour beforehand, and it was still a full house as we ate, so definitely recommend booking a table whenever you can. We decided to split a bunch of skewers and appetizers; everything was delicious. The 1/2 Raku tofu and 1/2 agedashi tofu were perfect portions for the two of us to share, and it was probably the best tofu I've ever had. The Raku tofu was so soft and fresh and went really well with the in-house soy sauce and accoutrements. The agedashi tofu came in a perfectly flavored broth and had the thinnest crust while still remaining a bit crispy after floating in the dashi. Highly recommend both dishes! Our favorites of the skewers were the eggplant (amazing char flavor), the kobe beef outside skirt (so tender!), and the kurobuta pork cheek (super juicy), but everything we tried was great. We also ordered the fresh fish of the day; the kitchen accidentally brought it out to us grilled instead of fried like we'd asked for, and in apology they gave us each a complimentary portion of fried fish in broth with okra. Also super delicious! We ended with the cold green tea soba and it was a perfect cap to our meal on such a hot July evening. Hojicha was super reasonably priced and we left super stuffed. Parking is super hard to find during peak hours. Modern Japanese restaurant with friendly staff. Loved that they have their own seasonings; pepper with sake, soy sauce with plum, green tea salt and shichimi. I got a half order fresh tofu and the onsen uni ikura. They claimed their tofu if different and they were right. It reminded me of fresh soy milk I use to make growing up, so delicate and flavorful. The onsen uni ikura was a good mixture of different flavors and textures. I can't wait to try other items on the menu and the omakase. Had dinner with daughter and grandchild in tow. Called to make reservations but those went to voicemail. Much to our surprise, we got a call back and snagged an 830 dinner slot. This definitely ranks as one of the best meals in my life! Started with a sake sampler, picked by our server - three types. Each was smooth, cold and enjoyable. I wanted to try as many items as possible so we opted for the tasting menu course. They had $150 or a premium $180. The $150 option had more than enough food as we struggled to finish the last of our dinner! House tofu with bonito flakes and spring onion with freshly grated wasabi and ginger - delicious topped with a bit of green salt and their special soy sauce. Four piece appetizer bites : Japanese asparagus panko crusted, fried whitefish wrapped around Japanese mint, fried salmon white soy sauce and white onion plus a small bite of roast duck sliced. Raw items: hamachi crudo, fresh scallop, tuna with caviar and raw quail egg - each bite progressively fresh, sweet then indulgent. Grilled skewer items : - bacon wrapped enoki, - Wagyu beef with wasabi dressing- tender moist and perfect- if this option is an entree I would get it! - Kurobata pork cheek topped with shaved truffle Fried fish of the day : black cod The final dish on the tasting course was lightly seared foie gras topped by black garlic over rice followed by palate cleanse with cucumbers. On top of all these delectable bites, we got whole fried shrimp (wild caught Gulf of Mexico) and cold soba matcha noodle topped with poached egg. For the toddler I requested the install bowl , with chicken, onion and egg to be cooked through. She also enjoyed this dish! Hardly any leftover. Dessert was a burnt sugar Panna cotta topped with cream and a fresh goji berry. Minimalist modern Japanese interior, toilets with warmed seats and multiple options for wash and dry while you remain seated! Attentive and friendly service by our gentleman server and everyone else. This is hands-down one of the best is a Kia Japanese restaurants in Las Vegas and there are a lot. They use the special black hole that's imported from Japan and it's a deep smoky flavor and cook everything perfectly. The menu is incredibly large and diverse has hot cold salads, sashimi rice, dishes, and so much more. You can also get some wonderful wines to accompany your meal what's really nice is you can eat socialize with your friends and then order more food and get to try some of the most delicious skewers in the city. Like idk how to express disappointment more. It was limpy and not flavorful at all. Like they try to mask it with the flakes on top. The mushroom skewer was ok. The pacific oyster AVOID. It was on the black board special. It was not cleaned properly like I had part of shell in mine and it tasted fishy af. Having stomach pains when writing this. Foie don is pure oily greasy and icky tasty like foie grae gone bad. And why so much oil??? Felt immediately regretful and bloated to the max from just one spoon of it. The beef tendon skewer super oily too. And lots of fat. The wagyu skewers omg ROTTON MEAT GONE BAD. Like already from the smell they were definitely giving us meat that was sitting for days in the fridge/freezer. So unpleasant. And as a previous review mentioned they are super sly about the specials on the blackboard as the first thing they advertise is a $120 Wagyu for 5oz. But they purposefully don't put the prices on the board. Wack wack wack. Avoid this place at all cost. Service: 2/5 took our order. Did the bare minimum. No water refills. Overall, it was a good meal with some definite highlights. The homemade tofu was a standout, so simple, yet so flavorful. If all tofu tasted like that, I might actually consider going vegetarian... okay, maybe not, but you get the idea. The poached abalone was nicely done, and the fried asparagus with matcha sea salt was a fun touch. The kobe beef skewers with truffle, as expected, were rich and satisfying. Must visit in Vegas! Nice ambiance with creative upscale izakaya. All the skewers were carefully marinated and grilled on charcoal that gives amazing flavors and texture - definitely not your ordinary food. I liked bacon wrapped enoki mushroom skewers out of all because of the texture and refreshing marinate. We had high hopes for Raku from all the reviews here on Yelp. We didn't make reservation and got a bar seating after a few minutes wait. A cozy restaurant and they were very crowded so I guess we were lucky to get a table without reservation. Perhaps we should have done a la cart, instead we opted in for the Omakase options and it fell short for me I guess after the experience at Shanga, for the price this was nowhere near what we had at Shanga by a long shot, that's probably our problems for having the opportunity to eat at many of the best places which in turn made it harder for me. Service was friendly, good enough for the bar seat. I had a hard time understanding our waitress but that's also due to noise level. She was sweet. Overall, I didn't care for anything we had, not bad but nothing to remember or return to. They sold out of eggplant, as we were late. So if we were to come back I guess must try the eggplant! The Alaskan King crab leg was the only thing that I enjoyed out of the entire meal, except you can't order it a la cart, reason why we went with the top tier Omakase to get that. Well not enough to justify the entire ok meal so I wouldn't do that again. It's a hit and miss Vegas experience especially down in Chinatown area. So this was a missed for us and for sure you are not missing out if you skipped it, but they are open late so in desperation for late night eatery I guess it will do. Still a Vegas staple and must visit! I've been coming to this place for over a decade now and it never disappoints. The food is always top quality, and once again the star is the house made tofu. All the food was 5/5 on the omakase menu during our visit! Where I believe this place gets some knock down to 4 stars from reviewers is the price, which I totally understand. Definitely on the higher end, higher price, with a low value return. My retort would be yes, you could definitely find way cheaper food that is equally as delicious elsewhere in vegas; but also, you could spend way more money on lower quality food on the strip as well. We had the following: - agedashi tofu 1/2 - blue fin tuna sashimi - kanpachi carpaccio - ohitashi - uni (special) - duck with balsamic soy sauce - grilled yellowtail with soy glaze - asparagus - mushroom - grilled rice balls (off menu) - comes with 2. One is miso and one is soy sauce. There is nothing inside. Everything was just ok to me. Standout was the duck and grilled yellowtail. Rice balls weren't crispy enough and the sashimi wasn't the best cuts. I was disappointed that they did not have any grilled chicken items on the menu anymore. They were also out of eggplant. Service: fast and friendly. They forgot our agedashi tofu but rectified the inconvenience with free hot barley tea which was a nice ending to the meal. Ambiance: the main room when you walk in is small and very packed. The table next to us was very loud so it was hard to hold a conversation. They also have three other rooms. One room with two tables with two rooms off it that are private with one table each. Then a back room that has a two rooms (one on the left and one to the right) that seats large groups. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and I noted that in the reservation, however they never acknowledged it. Given the limited menu, we likely won't be back. read more

Raku is such a cute hidden gem tucked away in a little shopping plaza. You honestly wouldn't expect it from the outside, but once you walk in, the decor is charming and the space feels surprisingly open and inviting. Parking is a little tricky, so just be prepared. We went with the omakase experience--sometimes it's nice to just sit back, not overthink the menu, and enjoy whatever the chef brings out. We chose the higher-tier option with 10 courses (photos attached!), and while everything was tasty, I kind of wish we had ordered from the regular menu, especially considering the price. The tofu starter was light and refreshing, the wagyu was a fun little moment, but honestly... the dessert totally stole the show for me. I was in the area and I stumbled upon this place. I've always wondered what this was, so I walked in on a Thursday night and sat at the bar. The restaurant looks small, but I think it extends on the other side of the wall. I could be wrong because I didn't venture that way, but that's what it looked like from my point of view at the bar. They have a nice menu of what I would think are non traditional dishes like foie gras. I decided to get the foie gras bowl, Hokkaido uni, hotate caviar, and green tea creme brûlée. The uni was pricey for the small amount of uni you get, but tasted amazing nonetheless. It had some texture that was easy to pick up with chop sticks. Uni sat on top of a bed short glass noodles. I wish I knew what it was called. It complemented well with the uni like rice complements well with a lot of dishes. The foie gras bowl was probably the best foie gras I've had. It was marinated well and hardly tasted gamy. Well portioned as well. Hotate cavier was served with scallops drizzled in truffle yuzu lemon sauce. It was similar to poke + caviar. Last, I had the matcha creme brulee with green tea ice cream. Dessert was perfect and didn't taste too sweet. It was delicious, but I think regular creme brulee would've complimented better with the green tea ice cream. My favorite part of this dessert was the green tea ice cream itself. This place was out of the world. It's 10/5. This was our first time being here. My boyfriend's brother spoke highly of it so we decided to try it out. It was the right decision. They had some specials today. We chose the wagyu steak cooked on a hot stone and uni sashimi from the special menu. The wagyu steak in the hot stone was so cool. The heat retained in the stone cooked the steak however you like. The uni sashimi was super fresh and delicate. We also picked some dishes from the regular menu as well. We got duck in balsamic vinegar, grilled king salmon, Kobe outer skirt steak, miso soup, agedashi tofu, foie gras skewer, and juicy fried chicken. They were all good but our favorites were the duck, the king salmon and foie gras skewer. The duck had this woody flavor and smokiness that we never tasted before in a duck. The balsamic vinegar complimented it perfectly. The fois gras skewer was so tender and creamy. The grilled king salmon was cooked perfectly medium rare. It literally melted in your mouth. We were so full. Everything here was so delicious. At the end, we shared a pomegranate sorbet to clean our palettes. I wished the texture was more soft. Some pieces were too frozen. Overall, it had this punchy pomegranate flavor but also sweetness to it, so we were still happy. We love this place so much and will definitely come back. Additionally, our server was amazing.
