asparagus. I recommend this to all vegetarians

It is so fun to go to Japanese restaurants because of the atmosphere and the unique way they bring people together. Raku does this exceptionally well. Having traveled to Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Kyoto, coming to this restaurant has stirred up fond memories of my travels and the food was delicious. I am a vegetarian but I like the way the meat looks. The meatless noodles and the tea are what I enjoyed, but it is the friendly people that make me want to return to this restaurant.

Agedashi (house made) tofu was sublime!

After missing agedashi tofu for months since leaving the Seattle area, I finally posed the question online about where I'd find the best here in Las Vegas! Several people pointed me in the right direction, even though I had actually attempted to go there after googling where I might find it! Such rave reviews were not unjustified! It was truly an experience not just for the palette but also for the senses! Such an exotic elegant setting and the presentation was exquisite! I felt like I've flown to Japan for an hour as I savoured my beloved tofu dish, ( theirs is made jnjouse daily) as well as a single large grilled scallop on a buttery soy garlic sauce that was magnificent! Light lunch but will definitely return! Service was beyond good just like the food!

Amazing as always!!!! Chef Endo is a genius. This is a very traditional Japanese establishment ... for all of those people not satisfied with the food you have no idea what true japanese cuisine is. This place is amazing a true hidden gem ... BRAVO.

Still our favorite spot in Vegas. We always come here when we visit Vegas and it still does not disappoint. Service was delightful and spot on. It's easy enough to get to via Lyft/Uber. We loved everything we had this time. The Raku tofu is still very good; it's their home-made tofu. The oyaji tofu is a half portion of the same tofu with different fix-ns; chili crunch, preserves vegetables, etc. The blue fin tuna sashimi, juicy fried chicken, and fried ice fish were stand outs in addition to the tofu this time. I also love the condiments they have at the table - for use with the dishes. We were in Vegas for five nights this time and Raku easily beat other on-strip restaurants we went to as the best restaurant we dined at on this trip. Until next time!

Had a double date at Raku. We booked reservations a week in advance just in case. I thought the food was good but a bit pricey for what it was. Our server was tentative and gave some good recommendations. We ordered the raw liver, salad, mushrooms, fish head, sashimi, fried chicken, tofu and donburi with egg, uni, mushroom and okra. The uni bowl was probably my favorite bite. If given other options I'd probably check out other restaurants before coming back here given the price point. Unfortunately I was still hungry after our $400+ meal for 4 people.

One of the best experiences we're ever had! The food was AMAZING, our server - Alice was so friendly. The ambience was really nice, it feels like you're at a local home bar and casually having fun. Definitely recommend.

Celebrated a special occasion here over the weekend and needless to say it did not disappoint! We made a reservation ahead of time since they are packed and it's definitely recommended. We arrived and got seated immediately after checking in. Lights were dimmed to provide a more intimate, romantic ambiance. They don't have a huge menu and it was mostly robata grilled items with some sashimi/sushi specials. We decided to do the deluxe chef's menu and added some skewers on the side. That was quite the experience! The price tag was hefty, but the amount of food that we got, coupled with the presentation and the freshness of the ingredients made for one special dinner. Every course from tofu, appetizers, sashimi, to stone grilled wagyu and dessert were thoroughly explained to us by our server, and the order of presentation was very well thought of. We were very pleased with the chef's menu. Service was excellent for the most part. The check in served was rude, but the server more than made up for it with her wittiness and caring demeanor. We left very impressed and would be open to coming back in the future!

I have been wanting to come here for years and finally got the opportunity with my family. Amazing experience! Pros - phenomenal food and presentation. The waiters were super nice and gave excellent recommendations. Our favorites includes the grilled mushrooms, wagyu skewers, agedashi tofu, green tea soba, scallops, yellowtail, uni, Cons - parking can be tough in the small plaza Overall a great dinner experience. One of the freshest Japanese style grill places in town and definitely worth the wait

If you admire carefully selected ingredients and well-executed cooking techniques, this is a good spot. (5/5) * foie gras bowl - fatty, smokey soy sauce, amazing short grain rice * raku tofu * skirt steak skewer * soy sauce (4/5) * daily special grilled branzino * green tea soba * tuna sashimi - REALLY enjoyed the wasabi and seaweed paste(?) on the side (3/5) * okra * duck skewer The decor and ambiance make it a nice spot for a nicer-casual meal. Random but I love the aquatic themed bathroom w the fish tank! Personally I'd come back next time alone just to savor the food and techniques.

Came here from cousin's suggestion. Parking is very difficult. Aside from that the interior was nice and fancy. We got seated in a corner room by ourselves Food was definitely out of this world. Raku tofu was very rich and fresh. Highly recommend. Beef skewers also very tender and flavorful. Wonder condiments especially the ume soy sauce. Very good when eating with most of the food items. Service was also nice Would recommend this place for high end izakaya experience.

They converted me to being a tofu lover!! Everything we tried - and we pretty much tried everything - was amazing. They were very helpful with the sake selection as well The meats and fishes were very fresh! It's not much of a drive from the strip and amazing place to spend your money

This is the second place we have been here and its been great. The decor, the greet, and the service is what you can ask for in a Japanese restaurant. The food is really good, quality, and tasteful, the delicate taste of each dish, the minute yet flavorful taste of the miso soup, the fluffy yet subtle saltiness of the salmon eggs and soy based soup was complimentary. Each dish was very unique and carefully prepared. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to enjoy a proper Eloquent but yet quaint dinner with their loved one or someone whom they have been dating for a while.

    Ask the Community - Raku

Hope to call and make a reservation for a week but the mail box is always full. Any suggestions on getting a spot there?

They use Resy for bookings - Aburiya Raku

Is raku closing on the June 30?

I think it's the Sweets Raku that's closing soon, not this one.

    Does the restaurant offer corkage?

You'd have to call. I did not see it noted on their menu.

Want to have the omakase with friends. One person is a vegetarian. Is she able to either order a la carte or do a vegetarian omakase? Another doesn't eat raw fish. Can they substitute that dish for something else?

What times are their omakase seating?

The omakase seating is available from opening to closing. This is a standard option in addition to their regular menu. (PS: Really good!)

I have tried calling the restaurant during business hours several times a night for the last two weeks. It always goes straight to voicemail. They say do not leave a voicemail for reservations. I've also texted an no response. Any suggestions?

Yes, that was my experience as well. I just kept calling, eventually someone did pick up and i was able to make a reservation.

Do you have any outdoor seating?

No, there are no outdoor seating

Does this restaurant have a dress attire? Jeans and tees are acceptable?

Jeans and tees are acceptable. Just went last week and saw men coming in, in shorts. It's Vegas so really no issues.

Is it possible to make a reservation request weeks/months in advance?

Yes, but tough to get them to answer the phone.... Call during business hours ie after 6 pm

I tried to call many times after 6pm to make reservation, but its always go to voice mail, is there any way that I can make reservation?

I would try texting the number!

How many courses are there in the $150 (Deluxe) Omakase?

We had the Premium Omakase and it had 11 courses plus dessert.

    What is their corkage policy?

Are they social distancing the tables and guests?

Yes they are limiting the number of occupants at one time. No parties larger than 6 at one table.

Any tips on making reservations? It says phone call only, but I have been calling for the past couple of weeks, left messages, and sent emails and have not gotten a response. Thanks!

You have to call when they are open so after 6 pm on any day but Sunday.

Do they have an omakase and how much does it cost?

Hi there yes they do. The price varies from $150-$300. I believe there's a pic on the menu section. I would definitely recommend it.

How far in advance must I make the reservation ? Any chance of a last minute cancellation for really early slots?

It depends on when you want to eat and the number of people in your party. I was recently there by myself for work on a random weekday and called before my plane took off and got seated with no issue at 10PM. But for larger parties and popular meal…

    Is Raku closed for renovations?

    No it isn't

What should I budget for omasake per person? We are women in the 40's, and not really big eaters, but we can eat a regular meal....

I'd budget $60-$80 per person for food. My husband and I usually spend about $100-$150 per person because he can eat a lot.

I've been calling Raku for over a week and it keeps going to vm. Did they get rid of reservations and it's first come first serve now?

I made a reservation in July for a August date. They don't open in the day time so you have to try calling at night either right when they open or much later at night. They are very busy from the hours of 7-11 so they either not answer or doesn't…

How do you make a reservation? I've been calling and it's going to a voicemail.

You make reservations by phone. However, they only answer the phone during business hours and when service is slow. So, keep calling.

Who can say no to crispy, authentic Japanese katsu? We usually order the kurobuta and the thick cut tonkatsu along with the kabocha (Japanese pumpkin) appetizer. Everything always comes out tasting absolutely incredible. I highly recommend trying the kurobuta because it is honestly sooo delicious. I've also gotten their seafood mix katsu set before which comes with five different pieces of fried seafood. Out of the five my favorites were the shrimp, salmon, and cod! Each set comes with fluffy Japanese rice, miso soup, a mountain of freshly shredded cabbage salad, and a small side of Japanese pickles. Overall, hands down one of the BEST Japanese restaurants in the city. They are a small restaurant and don't take reservations so come early to avoid having to wait.

My family made a reservation because they wanted to celebrate my birthday, so I was really looking forward to it. When it is your birthday, even a small detail feels a little more important. You want the night to feel special, smooth, and happy from the beginning. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there seemed to be a small issue with the reservation, and the table we were given was much smaller than expected. Since we were there as a family for a birthday dinner, it felt uncomfortable at first. I have to be honest -- my mood was not great in the beginning. It was one of those moments where you think, "Oh no, is this how the night is going to start?" But then the food started coming out, and Hachi completely turned the night around. The first thing that changed my mood was the beer. The draft beer was served in an unbelievably icy-cold mug. It was not just cold -- it looked and felt like it had come straight out of a freezer. The foam was smooth, the beer was crisp, and the first sip was so refreshing that I almost forgot I had been upset a few minutes earlier. That beer alone deserves applause. Sometimes a perfect cold beer can fix a whole mood, and this one absolutely did. The biggest highlight of the night was the tuna toro. It was incredible. The texture was so soft and delicate that it almost felt like cotton candy melting in my mouth. Rich, buttery, fresh, and so smooth. It was the kind of bite that makes everyone at the table stop talking for a second. We loved it so much that we ordered it three times. Ordering the same dish three times says everything. It was not a maybe. It was not a "let's think about it." It was a clear yes every time. The skewers were also very good. The grilled meats had a nice smoky flavor, and they were seasoned well without being too salty. They paired perfectly with the icy beer. But the shrimp skewer was especially memorable. The shrimp had that perfect bouncy, juicy texture. It was grilled nicely, still tender, and full of natural sweetness. Some grilled shrimp can become dry or forgettable, but this one had personality. Small skewer, big impact. We also enjoyed several other izakaya-style dishes. The grilled shishito peppers with bonito flakes were simple but delicious, and they helped balance out the richer dishes. The grilled squid had a great smoky flavor and a chewy texture that went so well with beer. These are exactly the kinds of dishes that make izakaya dining so fun -- one bite, one sip, one more bite, and suddenly the table is full of happy people. The sashimi platter was fresh and beautifully served over ice. There was a nice variety, including tuna, salmon, white fish, scallop, and ikura. Everything looked clean and fresh, and the presentation made it feel even more enjoyable. But honestly, the toro was the star. I will probably remember that toro for a long time. My daughter ordered tonkatsu, and that was also a huge hit. Sometimes at restaurants like this, kids' dishes can feel like an afterthought, but this tonkatsu was really good. It was crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. Seeing my daughter enjoy her food made my birthday dinner even better. As a mom, when your child eats well and is happy, the whole meal suddenly feels more peaceful. That is just the truth. Overall, Hachi started with a little frustration because of the reservation issue and the small table, but the food and drinks completely saved the night. The icy-cold beer, the amazing tuna toro, the juicy shrimp skewer, and the tonkatsu were all memorable. The food was strong enough to make us forget the rough beginning, and by the end of the meal, we were all happy. Las Vegas has so many flashy restaurants, but Hachi has that casual, comfortable izakaya charm. It is the kind of place where you order many small dishes, share with the table, drink something cold, and let the night slowly become fun. I would definitely come back next time I am in Las Vegas. Next time, I already know what I am ordering first: an icy-cold beer and tuna toro. And honestly, I may order the toro twice from the beginning, because one order is definitely not enough.
