Showed up on time, handled the move like total pros--quick, careful, and not a single thing out of place. But here's where they really went above and beyond: after the move, I asked if they'd be willing to help build a patio set that honestly looked like it came with a PhD requirement. Totally not in the job description--but they jumped in with great attitudes and helped me get it done. Legends. I just used Tommy's for my third move in Hoboken (my son was moving from our home to his own place), and I wouldn't use anyone else in town. For one thing, I like to use local businesses when I can, and I also already knew that they're professional, reasonably priced, and know exactly how Hoboken "works" for pesky little things like parking, etc. I arranged the move with the company's owner, Albie, a few weeks before we expected to close. I ordered the "No Parking" signs from the City for the move date as he instructed. At the last minute, it looked as if the closing, which was scheduled for the day before the move, might not happen due to one of those homebuying "hiccups" that can happen. I was afraid to tell Albie that we might have to reschedule only two days before our planned moving day. I figured he'd tell me that he'd have to charge me for the lost time, etc., and that we wouldn't be able to reschedule for at least another week. Albie's response? "No big deal. Just let me know when you're ready to move and we'll do it." He told me that "this stuff happens all the time," but I'm pretty sure that most movers would charge to reschedule at the last minute! Fortunately, things worked out so that my son could move on the date we'd planned. My son, who is a musician, was very nervous about his (expensive) music equipment being moved safely to a 5th-floor walkup. But when I asked him how things had gone when they got to his new place, he told me that they were fast and VERY careful, and that I should write them a good review (not something he usually thinks about). Called them for a quote. Spoke to a nice guy on the phone who told me to send photos of everything we'd be moving so we can get a quote. Someone emailed me back 2 days after I sent the photos saying to get in touch. I called the number he provided several times and responded to the email to no avail (it's two weeks after my email with the pics, we already had to book other movers). Never heard back at all, and they have my address and pictures of all of my stuff... which just seems creepy. If they weren't available - though we have a flexible move date - or didn't want the job, they could've just said that. Sent in a few other requests for quotes with other companies and didn't hear back from all of them, but this is the only one where we connected, talked some details, they got pictures of my whole apartment, and then ghosted. In past moves, I have always used Flat Rate movers because I loved that they guaranteed a price and you couldn't go over it. However, in my recent Hoboken move, I decided I want to try something different (and more affordable) and I am really glad I did. From start to finish I think it took about 2 hours for the movers to move my entire one bedroom apartment (including an oversized bed, sectional couch, and many other things). Short Story: These guys were amazing. Everyone was friendly, polite, efficient, obviously pros and fast! Moving is stressful, but made they it so easy - I'm willing to move again. Will definitely ask them to move me again. Long Story: A co-worker who had moved within Hoboken (a few years ago) had suggested them to me. My move was from JC to another town in Hudson county. Everyone, including Tommy himself, the women who I corresponded with on the phone and the crew that came on the day of the move were pleasant to work with. I threw in a wrench a week before the move by adding a second destination, but they all took care of it. Everything was handled with care and each item was in the desired location at the destination (kitchen stuff in the kitchen, bedroom stuff in the bedroom; they will ask where you want your stuff if they are not labeled - which was nice) Suggestion for those moving: label your boxes of where you wan them to go. Listen to Tommy's instructions (get parking permits in advance, check elevator schedule at both destination, etc.). Be nice! Our first experience was amazing hassle free moving so based on our first experience we decided to go with them the second time. Al really stepped up the game. And our moving was scheduled on time as well as finished on time. But this time the service was pathetic. There was no direction. No professionalism. The team had 4 people and all of them blamed each other for the mistakes. They broke our mirror, they broke our cabinet, with no apologies. They kept calling Tommy for all small things, nobody took ownership of whatever was happening. We had really bad experience this time. They left one of the steel bars that goes under the bed in our old home. I am so disappointed. Didn't want to give bad review but we had horrible experience. We hired them for a very big job which was to move us out of our home of 41 years. We were so overwhelmed with the prospect of a move from a 3000 sq ft home to a 1000 Sq ft home. We hired them to pack up our place, move us out to a new home, take items to a local bookstore as a donation, take items to my downtown office and to put garbage and throwaways on the curb. We worked with his movers intensely for two days and we were over the moon satisfied with entire experience. It all started when Tommy came to our home to provide us an estimate. Immediately we knew the kind of integrity he had. He was easy-going, explained everything in much detail, and most importantly generated the kind of peace of mind we needed because he made this very difficult whirlwind experience suddenly doable, affordable and we felt immediate calm. You could tell he was experienced and his estimate was right on point. A few weeks later five of his workers showed up on time to our home with all the packing material and worked seamlessly from room to room in collaboration with us to pack up our beloved home. They took such care with all our property. The next day, the team returned to move us out. Amazingly, we had zero casualties during the process. Not one thing was damaged or broken throughout the entire process. The only thing We would have done differently was to have had the guys pack the boxes in such a way, lighter, so that when we had to unpack them in our new home, we would be able to lift the boxes ourselves. They packed the boxes to the rim and those muscular men could lift them with ease. We couldn't. If we could've, we would've given so much more in a gratuity because they were all just excellent and deserving. About a two weeks later we needed another item moved into our home and we called on them for a specialty job and they bent some of their rules to accommodate our request. There was a bit of a hassle that was remedied fairly and generously by Tommy. This is the kind of leadership they have at this business. And I can't express enough in words how much I would recommend this company to anyone considering a move.
