I read a lot of good things about this place. The service was great and the food came out quick. I wish I could say I loved it, but it was just a 4 star sandwich for me. Maybe I'm not a fan of the broccoli and it would've been better with spinach. Maybe my expectations were too high. I'm not sure. I don't think I'll get a chance to figure it out since there's so many great places to eat in Philly. I'd still recommend trying it if you want something different from the traditional cheesesteak!
Really good pork roast sandwich with 1/2 sweet 1/2 hot peppers. Be prepared to eat, it's a hearty portion. No regerts
I dont know what the hype is all About. Bland pulled pork- it's in a neat place the Reading Terminal Market ... Parking fees are ridiculous across the street . Lesson learned . The market is a busy place - tourist trap- will say the coffee is good . And the bakeries and the butchers . Back to this place.. I shoulda god the roast beef sandwhich I had broccoli - greens - provolone all an upsell of 1$ each. Just say no- peppers weak. I get it - it's a business they need tonnage Money - but not again. I ate it all because we paid so much- you make up your own mind - food in Philly has been weak so far - not how it used to be when I lived here
Classic roast pork sandwich spot in Reading Terminal Market. Large sandwiches, a bit pricy, but enough food for 1 person for the whole day so ideal to share it with someone. There is good amount of pork, a bit juicy, but still tasted a bit dry. I added the long hot peppers and sharp provolone $1 surcharge each so the total was $18 tax included. It was not too busy when I went, and there is a separate section for dine-in, but that section is full so I went with the to-go and enjoyed the sandwich in my hotel room with AC.

The roast pork was juicy, extremely flavorful and combined with the other ingredients on the large hoagie roll made for a phenomenal sandwich. + They sell t-shirt merch here as well for $20. + The sandwich was assembled and served VERY QUICKLY after ordering. + There are 8 counter seats around DiNic's, but plenty of seating in the communal seating area (if you can beat others to them). THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Nada. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Came by on a Saturday at 11:45 AM and there was no line here AT ALL. There were plenty of customers sitting around their counter seats, but ordering was lightning fast. CONCLUSION -------------------- = Honestly, I had very low expectations for the Roast Pork Sandwich. Having tried the one at John's Roast Pork, which we didn't like, we pretty much expected the same experience, but we were dead wrong!!!! The sandwich here is worth every damn penny!

While having ice cream at the Reading Terminal Market, I chatted with an elderly lady sitting next to me and was told that Roast Pork is a more authentic and local Philadelphia sandwich than Cheesesteak. Coincidentally, this particular shop in the market was quite famous, so I tried it the next day for breakfast! Roast Pork Sandwich, Broccoli Rabe, Sharp Provolone, Roasted Pepper: An all-the-way meal. The pork didn't have a gamey smell, but it was on the leaner side, making it a bit dry and not very flavorful. The fragrance of provolone was rich, but somewhat too sharp; the refreshing bitterness of the broccoli rabe and the mild sweetness of the roasted pepper were more to my liking. The sandwich felt relatively simple and straightforward, with no sauce, basically just the raw flavors of the ingredients, and the integration of these flavors was relatively limited. It's understandable why it later lost out to Cheesesteak.
I remember the roast pork sandwich tasting better the last time I tried it. The provolone was very overpowering and broccoli rabe was a little bitter. The bread was soft and fresh. It's a good sandwich but not great. Next time I'll try something else.

A must have for your Philadelphia experience. Get the pork with broccoli rabe and sweet peppers. And get LOTS of napkins. It's juicy and tender and loaded with garlicky good flavor. The roll is outstanding, especially as it absorbs the juices. Did I mention getting lots of napkins. The whole order at the counter adds to the experience. This is one of my favorite stops whenever I'm in Philly.
Sandwich was OK but was disappointed as it tasted bland and the bread over powered the meat and cheese. Love going to the Reading Terminal Market as it is conveniently located and offers a wide selection of food. Haven't had a sandwich in a while from Dinic's but this was very disappointing. That's always a good sign, and even with the long line, the ordering process moved quickly. We ordered the Roast Pork with Broccoli Rabe Wet, and we're glad we did. The extra jus kept the sandwich moist and added a lot of flavor. I would definitely recommend ordering it "wet." We also tried the brisket sandwich. Overall, the roast pork is the reason to visit, and it's easy to see why Tommy DiNic's is one of the most popular spots in Reading Terminal Market.
My wife and I were in Philly for a long weekend over Labor Day and my buddy recommended the roast pork from Tommy DiNic's. Yes please. Reading Market was huge, you can get fish and meat and any pastry you wish. I ordered a roast pork from the bar styled restaurant, it came out pretty fast and was filled up! I could only finish half of the thing, it was that huge. It made for a wonderful breakast. The pork was super moist and the bread was delish!. Great meal! read more

I was in Philly for a couple of days and wanted something quintessential Philadelphia but didn't want a cheese steak. This seemed like the answer. I got the Roast Pork Sandwich with Broccoli Rabe and provolone and got the Meatball with sweet peppers. To start with the good, the service was really fast and efficient. You just stay in line after ordering and follow the line and you get your food. It's surprisingly quick. But I was not a fan of either sandwich. The bread was mediocre, it was almost bland. The Roast park wasn't great. The pork itself was fine, but the cheese overpowered the pork and the sl broccoli rabe didn't meld with the rest of the sandwich, it didn't taste cohesive. The Meatball was better, but the sauce was one note. And couldn't rely on the bread. read more

Although Philly is known for cheesesteaks, another popular hoagie is pork roast sandwiches. Tommy DiNic's was rated the #1 sandwich in America in 2013, so it's up there. Since it's located inside the popular Reading Terminal Market, it's a no brainer to try the sandwich. Even though we came on a Saturday, there was no wait at 10am --come early to avoid lines. I paid and got my sandwich right away as we got to enjoy the sandwich on the counterseats. I ordered the Pork Roast ($15) with Provolone (+$1) and Greens (+$1). The sandwich is moist, tender, and juicy which is wonderful considering it's pretty much all meat. It's not something I'd usually order, but it is a pretty damn good sandwich. read more

Really tasty sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was since I was expecting something greasier. The hot sandwich has quite the kick which is also nice - pairs nicely with the pork. I suggest the sweet sandwich for the beef. read more
Tommy DiNic's is one of those spots that comes up on every "must-eat" list for Reading Terminal Market, so I had to give it a try. I went for the roast pork sandwich, which I later realized wasn't the move--most people rave about the pulled pork, and I can see why. The roast pork was fine: sliced thin, not dry at all, but also not particularly juicy or flavorful. It leaned on the leaner side, so it's probably great if you're looking for a lighter option. Just don't expect a flavor bomb. The bread was solid--crusty and held up well--and I added sharp provolone and broccoli rabe. The cheese gave it a nice kick, and the rabe added some bitterness, but overall the sandwich didn't hit as hard as I hoped. It felt like it was missing that extra oomph. That said, service was quick and the staff were super efficient. If I come back, I'll definitely go for the pulled pork with all the fixings. Worth trying, but choose wisely. Located in the Reading Terminal Market, this space has a ten-stool counter and a to-go space. All ten stools at the counter were occupied on this busy Friday afternoon. The woman cashier saw myself and my other half and asked if we wanted anything to go, I replied we would loiter around until a couple of seats open at the counter. So, three clowns at the counter, apparently in town for a soccer coach convention, are finished eating, but are having a conversation that seemed to last forever. You would think the cashier, to have some turnover in business, would have nudged them along to converse elsewhere, but nope. So, a solo diner next to the three clowns finished up and leaves, so I have my better half take his spot and the cashier comes over to take our order. Our sandwiches come and the three clowns are still conversing. A couple to the left of my better half finishes up and I grab the stool next to my honey and a solo diner grabs the other and the three clowns are still oblivious and conversing. Halfway through our sandwiches, the three clowns disperse, their stools immediately occupied upon departure. Not a good way to create turnover for your business. Other than that, my Italian Pulled Pork Heo with broccoli rabe and provolone was definitely a five-star sandwich. The seating/counter experience, not too much. read more
We got to the market at 3pm for a late lunch l. Our first stop is having this roast pork sandwich and it did not disappoint. Long lines but moves very quickly. The sandwich is moist and not salty. It was actually perfect. We order one with sweet peppers, but sadly there is no broccoli rabe in my sandwich like as pictured online. A bit disappointed , but maybe we ordered it wrong? If you want the broccoli rabe, I suggest to mention that you want them in your sandwich. This a great choice if you do not like a cheese steak. Will go back again. I will make sure get some broccoli rabe in my sandwich. read more

Sometimes you go back to a spot due to nostalgia and this was it for me. I went here one of my first trips to Philly and was blown away. Not sure if anything has changed or I'd eaten too much on this trip and this was my last meal before heading home. But I just felt that this sandwich was ok, nothing amazing like I had remembered. It's been a long standing spot inside reading terminal for good reason. read more

I've only eaten at DiNic's maybe 7 times in the past 16 years. I know it's sad lol .Today I wasn't too happy with the broccoli rabe , it was chopped up and it just didn't taste as good as it did years ago when they would serve one the whole stem. Also it seemed like it was cooked to quick , no seasoning, broccoli rabe was very green meaning it wasn't cooked all the way through it should have looked like the photo below , no DiNic's flavor broccoli rabe. read more
Was at RTM in the morning and there was no line for DiNics so I figure why not finally try the roast pork sandwich?! The pork itself was phenomenal and you can taste the seasoning. The greens and bun itself just became soggy even though I pretty much immediately went and ate it. Not sure if they sell the meat by the pound separately but it was great. Maybe preference, but there may be better options in RTM. Overall it's a good hoagie and definitely worth a try if there's no line. read more
I wanted to love this sandwich more. I found the cheese to be too strong for the meat. When I got a bite with just the broccoli rabe, meat, and bread I thought it was very tasty. If given a second chance to order, I would have them leave off the cheese. Obviously, this is a personal preference. Judging from the long lines, I'm definitely in the minority. read more

This fine establishment is inside the Reading Terminal Market. It's a bustling place for any foodie. I picked Tommy D's due to pretty much everyone I asked said to go here for the best Philly roast pork sandwich. The sandwich is beyond flavorful, super thin sliced juicy pork with melted provolone on a house baked roll. It was delicious & spectacular. The people serving are super nice & informative & will point you in the right direction depending on what you are craving. read more

I heard so much about phillys famous roast pork sandwiches. I was trying to visit some of their top 10 best places to try it in town and Tommy DiNics in the reading terminal market was on that list. So this was my first time trying an authentic Philly roast pork sandwich, I figured why not try it at one of philly s top rated spots. The presentation of the outside of the sandwich looked super delicious, it also smelled amazing too. Once I took a bite I immediately realized It was missing some flavor but the texture was really great. Even though this wasn't my cup of tea, I think this is authentically how the locals eat this sandwich so I won't be harsh and I'll at least give them a 4 star. After all, I could have added some hot sauce or something to give it some flavor if I wanted to. read more

I love there roast beef with broccoli rabe with provolone cheese & horseradish! They're quick and very organized when you place your order. It's smack in the middle of the Reading Terminal so it can get pretty busy. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it! I highly recommend it! read more

Roast Pork Sandwich ( Feb 2026) Out of towner from Jersey City. It's a Philly institution that I wanted to savor for long time. So made a trip to Reading Terminal when I was in town. 16 $ ( Roast Pork plus Broccoli Rabe) 1 $ each for sharp provolone & hot peppers. Also took side of hot peppers for 2 $ Total 20 $ Server was very friendly, it was President's day weekend and they were working so why not, tipped 2 $ Total 22 $ Loved every bite of it, juicy and spicy if you add peppers. Bread is perfect for that set up. Will do again in fall I think. read more
I had a potential client tell me "Ignore the Philly Cheesesteak when you go to Philly. You need to get a Roast Pork Sandwich from Tommy DiNic's in that big market. It won Best Sandwich in America..." He closed his dissertation with "Throw out everything you thought you knew about sandwiches." ... Done. I was going to Philly that weekend to visit my gf, so I had to get the sandwich and tell him it was amazing regardless. I'm trying to win his business. We entered the bizarrely calm Reading terminal market, got in a short line, and ordered the beloved Roast Pork Sandwich. It was made up of Roasted Pork Shoulder, Broccoli Rabe, and onions. Honestly it was pretty damn good, but it wasn't an "Oh my god..." on the first few bites good. Best sandwich in America I just can not get behind. However, it was voted the champ back in 2013. A lot can change in 10 years... Regardless, I sent an email to the potential client with a picture of me CHEESIN and said "I can fully see why it was voted the best sandwich in America..."
