This has been on my list of restaurants to visit for quite some time and I finally made it. The service and atmosphere was great - live music during Saturday brunch. They also have happy every 7 days a week starting at 2pm. I ordered the Pineapple Paradisio (AMAZING COCKTAIL) and the shrimp and scallops with almond rice for lunch. The almond rice MADE THIS DISH. It was delicious. The scallops were next as the best thing in this dish. My only complaint is that the shrimp had zero seasoning which somewhat messed the dish up - and I love shrimp. For my entree I got the miso king salmon and a side of broccoli- The salmon was alright, the miso sauces wasn't my favorite and the dish needed salt; I liked the char and cook in the broccoli. I definitely suggest asking for the bread too, it comes with a seasonal flavored butter that's good. Work has a happy hour here and I opted for a non-alcoholic drink, Blue My Mind. Blue My Mind sounded really good but it was so so so tart. Another trip to Plano means another opportunity for me to check out a new place! Last night's adventure took me and a few colleagues to Tommy Bahama...which caught me off guard-it's not just a clothing brand, but a restaurant too!? We had a reservation, since there were ten of us, and upon check-in, were immediately taken to our table. It was out on the patio, which sounds like it might be cold, but the propane heaters spaced generously about made for a mostly comfortable experience. (If you tend to run cold, you may opt to sit inside during the winter months.) I didn't catch our server's name amid the busyness of our dinner conversation, but he was terrific-attentive, friendly and engaging. He made the experience great. The food was fantastic! My favorite was the shrimp appetizer, which we could probably have eaten more of, but we were conservative in our order, saving ourselves for the main course. Everyone enjoyed their meals, drinks were colorful and fun and the ambience made us feel like we were on vacation near a beach somewhere. I especially enjoyed the acoustic guitar and singer adding in some live music from the back corner. Aloha! I'll be back soon! read more

Coming back from the islands to this was somewhat of a disappointment, but I won't judge the place based on local specialties. I ordered the lump crab salad and it was decent, lots of crab meat so that's a plus. My date ordered the red snapper and he felt that he could've gotten the same thing at Long John Silver's, and I would have to agree. The food was a bit overpriced for the presentation and it just didn't pop out and say wow. Nothing spectacular, but not bad. Kid friendly restaurant for our family valentine's dinner. Kids were able to sit at the bar with us while we enjoyed some cocktails for HH before our dinner. Our cocktails were beautifully presented with the fresh orchids. Makes you really feel like you are somewhere tropical. However, the restaurant should be $$$ instead of $$, if you are going to charge over $30 for a salmon dish. Fortunately the salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband's steak could have used a few more pinch of salt. Kids seems to enjoy their kids meal though. The restaurant seems pretty laid back and casual but the price range was more on the fine dining range. Service was good though for a busy valentine's evening and the ladies received a stem of red roses! Food did take a bit longer but that's understandable. First time eating at Tommy Bahamas. So our group ordered the coconut shrimp, mahi mahi, chips n guac, and french onion soup. In summary, you pay for the scene and not the food. Honestly, I did not expect much based on what I saw on ither tables. The shrimp was typical cocnut shrimp. Chips n guac was chips n guac. The mahi was decent but nothing close to OMG. The onion soup, however... was horrible. I think we got a block of salt instead of cheese on the top. Concentrated onion flavor was the expectation. Tasted more like an onion bullion. Wowza! To add salt to the wound... service was unfortunately lacking. Saw one table sat before ours still waiting to be served after we ordered drinks. Also waitress forgot our chips and guac. They took our plates before asking if we were finished. Just so bizarre. I sort if expected them to say times up or something. We were not there long so not sure what the deal was. In summary, sadly, first time and probably last time. Expected something better for that area and price. For the first time ever, dining at a Tommy Bahama restaurant felt impersonal and average. Smallest martini I've ever received at a Tommy B restaurant, and we go out of our way to dine at any Tommy B restaurant in our near vicinity when we travel. Unwillingness to work with us on our two coupon cards--cards that they were pushing on us when we visited the previous month (you purchased them by buying an appetizer and got the discount the following month, it was to support a good cause.) No willingness to compromise despite us having two separate checks and being loyal customers who drove 40 minutes each way just to have dinner here as we have done countless times (bringing our neighbors who had never been and might have been repeat customers.) Turns out the fine print said "one card per visit." You could perceive that however way you want as a customer or manager, right? Told by two different managers it was "corporate" policy and that they couldn't work with us on the coupons ($20 each.) The second manager appeared out of the blue to tell us the same thing the first manager told us, for some reason we never figured out--we had accepted it at that point and had already given our second card to another party nearby so they could take advantage of it. Never have heard the "corporate" word at a Tommy B restaurant. At least our food was delicious as always but the cocktails, meh. Short pours. I was embarrassed, as it was not the experience we were hoping to share with our neighbors (restaurant owners themselves.) There is a reason I don't frequent restaurants that feel like everything is being dictated by top down corporate policy. There are other restaurants at Legacy West that we have never visited as we are fiercely loyal to Tommy B. I'm guessing we might be visiting some of those alternatives in the future. Did I mention that we drive 40 minutes each way to visit this location? Definitely not an "island" experience. PS Adam our server was excellent. He was powerless to override the all-knowing multiple zealous managers but probably wished that he could. He was super cool. read more

Was looking for a place in Legacy West that had a nice outdoor patio and this place fit the bill. When we walked in, we got a table next to the sidewalk, and even in the heat of a Texas afternoon it was quite comfortable due to the fans and industrial strength misters. There was a solo guitar player singing great tunes from the likes of Jimmie Buffet and the volume and quality of the music added to the great vibe of the patio. It was a dog friendly patio and a couple patrons brought their four legged friends with them. There was not only great people watching but also auto watching with a parade of high end sports cars going up and down the street.. The service was really good and the waiter was helpful describing the entrées and making suggestions. We opted for an appetizer and some light entrées. We had the macadamia encrusted goat cheese with mango salsa and flatbread. It was excellent. My wife had the grilled chicken and mango salad and I had the lump blue crab bisque. She deemed it a destination salad (a salad good enough to bring us back again just to get that). The bisque was phenomenol. The food, service and atmosphere was so good, we came back soon after with a larger group and expanded our selection to include the char grilled mignon salad (rare of course) and ahi tuna tacos. Others in our party had the Blackened Mahi Mahi tacos, Thai shrimp and scallops, and the All American burger. I had the bisque again and my son liked it so much he commandeered it and finished it off. It was also my wife's birthday and the waiter brought out a complementary slice of chocolate cake goodness. Our first couple of visits here were really great. It was one of our regular stops for lunch or dinner. All the food was great, service was on point, and we love the atmosphere. However, our last 3 visits have all been disappointing. Service is still stellar, atmosphere is great, but the food has taken a big dive lately. There's usually 5 or more of us for dinner and everyone in our group has been disappointed. The last 2 visits I got fish and it's been terrible. Very fishy and old tasting. The bisque is always on point and a must try. Either way, we've been here enough to not give up on it yet. Normally they are terrific and should be part of anyone's rotation. I've dined here twice. The first time, we strolled in with no reservations during lunch time. The service was great, along with the food and drinks. Last night, we had a reservation for indoor seating. They were able to move us outdoor since the weather was better than expected. Our table (despite being prepared for seating) was dirty. It was gritty with what felt like sand but looked like dust. I'm not sure if this was part of the aftermath from the rain but we asked our waiter to clean it and he did. Our waiter seemed a little off. Actually, I had to ask if he was our waiter because there was no introduction and honestly, I thought he maybe just walked in from off the street. He didn't seem very knowledgeable but he was nice. We had to ask for bread (which is complimentary). When the bread came out, I noticed the plates were covered with the same gritty, dirty texture. The bread is quite crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. It's served with a Texas Roadhouse style cinnamon butter. We ordered 2 drinks- a Mai Tai and a Baja Margarita. Let me tell you... they do not play when it comes to these drinks. The top shelf margarita was perfect and tasted exactly how it's supposed to. The Mai Tai should come with a designated driver. It's strong but yummy. We got a sample of Fried Red Snapper Bites with a sweet red chili glaze. It was incredible! (*Check our Tommy Bahama's Instagram page for secret words to receive a special treat on certain days.) For our entrees, we ordered a full rack of grilled baby back pork ribs and the Kona Coffee Crusted Ribeye. The ribs were small, which is understandable because they are pork, but there was way too much sauce on them. Delicious sauce but too much. The fries (subbed) were awesome. The ribeye was great but I had requested it medium and it was served medium well. There was a hint of the garlic butter on the ribeye but not much. I subbed the cauliflower "steak" for the cauliflower mashed potatoes. These were tasty. I was quite surprised how much I liked them. The lemon arugula was alright. I'm not sure why I wasn't allowed to sub this one but it wasn't my ideal side. For dessert, we ordered the pineapple creme brûlée and the Pina Colada cake (to go). The creme brûlée seemed a little more runny compared to the first time I had it but nevertheless it is delicious and I highly recommend. The cake is light and so good. There are pieces of pineapple throughout and toasted coconut covering the icing. This is another must have. Overall, I like dining here and will be back. The atmosphere is nice and there is usually a musician playing. Even on warmer days, the patio is comfortable because they put out huge air conditioners and have fans. The food is good but a little high. I think there needs to be minor improvements and that has to do with the staff. Regardless, it's a nice restaurant in a nice area with major island vibes. read more

Thanks to Patrick and Richard, I was able to come back and enjoy Tommy Bahama like I heard it to be. First thing first...the atmosphere is amazing! I highly suggest sitting on the patio. There are fans and water mist to keep you cool in Texas heat but once you have one of their drinks it instantly makes you feel as though you're on a beach somewhere. Service was great this time around our server was very attentive and he knew the menu so well which was appreciated because I love taking suggestions and he did not fail us once. Drinks I recommend: frozen mai tai & pina colada. The mai tai is definitely strong, so take precaution lol. The pina colada was just paradise in a glass. Meals I recommend: scallop sliders *chef kiss*. The sliders were the best thing I've had in a while. It's not breaded, it was 2 seared large scallops inside Hawaii rolls with tomato, onion and slaw, topped with peppered fried onions. My mouth is watering just thinking about the sliders. The scallops were perfect and the Hawaiian roll and fried onions were such a nice touch. Also, the coconut shrimp are pretty good. I'd suggest getting a side of the chutney sauce (a sweet jam) & switching out the slaw for a different side. I got fries and they were really good fries. I have to say they are just as yummy in Texas, minus not being in a beach town. Lol However it's in a very nice shopping area/main street. Something they must teach all their bartenders because I haven't had a bad martini at any of their restaurants and it's the standard I hold to when ordering the same flavor at any restaurant which is hot and miss. lol Our appetizer which I believe was the hummus and pita bread was scrumptious as always as was the chicken tortilla soup. Chef Richard came out of the kitchen asking us how our food was and we got to talking with him about how we just enjoy their food. He was from Cali and super friendly. In fact he told us about the event that was happening that evening and gave us a free cookie they would be serving which again was yummy!! I've visited a few times now, once for happy hour, once for brunch. Both times on the patio (HH is bar/patio only). Love their happy hour! My friends turned me on to the Mai Thais as you can count on them being pretty strong. I've had both frozen and on the rocks, they are pretty sweet but still good. On our brunch visit we had the crab bisque, coconut shrimp app, my boyfriend got the American burger, and I got the crab cake app for my meal. I would say if you are looking for brunch food maybe choose one of the other restaurants around the area. All of the food was good, only thing I probably wouldn't get again was the soup (luke warm and not a ton of flavor). Shrimp and crab cakes were fresh and delish. The burger reminded me of the one at Cheesecake Factory (my fav) so would recommend. They also had an amazing artist performing on the patio during brunch that made for an awesome atmosphere. Tommy Bahamas seemed like a pretty place to eat and the outdoor seating and music caught our eyes, which was why we decided to give it a try. We sat outside, which was enjoyable with all the patio shades and fan. However, though this place looks nice and all, don't let it fool you. A glass cup I received had a lipstick stain, and we found hair in our jerk chicken. Once we informed our waiter the manager came out and took that entree off our check and gave us a free entree to replace it.
