My co-workers and I ate here for lunch but I don't think this place is anything special. It did not give me the "wow" effect. I ordered their Magherita Pizza and it was just a cheese pizza sprinkled with some dried basil leaves. It was nothing like the magherita pizza I had at the Eat Real Festival. My co-workers got the Piadine, which is a flatbread topped with salads, which you can fold and eat like a taco. Claudia O. got the Steak Piadine, while Aaron C. got the Caprese Piadine with chicken. I think the price is comparable to the amount of food you get. My personal size pizza was $9.50 but it was huge. The good things that I do like about this place is the thin crust. It's very crispy and I'm a big fan of thin crust pizza. I also like how Aaron was able to add meat into his piadine even though it doesn't necessarily comes with it. My experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. All in all, it was just "a-ok." I wouldn't mind coming back but I wouldn't got out of my way to go back nor it would be my first choice. read more

Wow, quality has dropped big time since the last time I came here. The portions for EVERYTHING we ordered came out smaller (appetizer, pizza, and entrees) and the salmon and chicken piadines both came out COLD. Usually my favorite thing about the piadines is that the bread is fluffy and warm. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. I really hope it wasn't due to the recent Groupon deal ($15 for $30 worth of food). Another thing is that the service here has been consistently underwhelming. Not sure if it's because it's primarily high schoolers who are manning the tables or what, but they are usually not attentive. Case in point: we didn't even get a chance to complain about the piadines since we were in a time crunch and had to eat and leave and the servers were just nowhere to be found despite the restaurant not even being busy. I'm severely disappointed and hope Tomatina gets their act together. At least their strawberry lemonade is still good. read more

I've been here in the past, mostly when I was in middle school with my aunt when we wanted to go out and on Wednesday I decided to take my husband to try it since he never had before. But when we got there they took 5 minutes to sit us down. Usually that isn't a problem but it didn't seem busy, yeah there were people sitting down but they had already had their food or had finished meals. We were finally just told to sit anywhere and sat there for a while before they told me and my husband to order off the website because they were a bit busy, we understood brushing it off as we looked at the menu and knew what we wanted. We decided to just wait for waiter to take our order and when she did she seemed like almost annoyed that two younger people were in the restaurant alone, I thought she was just busy but when she was talking to these older white ladies near us and near I mean right next to us, she talked to them for 10 minutes. But again brushed it said and just wanted to eat. Me and my husband are really simple and order the same thing but with different toppings, I ordered a fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and spinach and he ordered a regular fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, but when they came in front of us I noticed a bit different, mine was much more oily, like there was no sauce. Just oil. While my husbands had what everyone assumed a fettuccine Alfredo looked like. We both noticed how different our plates were but I still ate the food not wanting to be rude or nasty. Would 10/10 recommend, came here on my birthday last year & again on my birthday eve dinner this year. Supervisor Karina was very kind & attentive, checking on us & making sure we were comfortable. Server Jill & Alyssa also went above & beyond to sing "happy birthday" with a candle and delicious tiramisu on the house after dinner. I come whenever I crave pasta and don't want to drive too far. Tomatina is an okay place--you can get pasta, pizza, salads, piadines, that kind of thing. My favorite is their Pescatora (spaghettini with chopped clams, salmon, tomatoes and basil-pesto sauce). I usually ask for lemon on the side and squeeze it over the pasta, since it contrasts nicely with the clam and salmon. -1 star because their service is extremely slow. I came here with a group of 10 or so people once. We all ordered either the pescatora or their monthly special, and it took almost an hour to get our food. -1 star for the decline in quality and quantity of food. I've noticed the portion sizes getting smaller, and the clam/salmon quantity has gone down and has gotten significantly less pestoey and more oily. My husband usually gets the steak piadine, and on our last visit I commented on how small the portion was compared to how it used to be. He said that on his last visit (with his dad in early July, so just a few weeks ago) he had noticed the difference in portion size, and now this was even smaller. Disappointing. VEGAN REVIEW: When I was invited to a birthday dinner here, I was anxious. As a vegan, I tend to avoid Italian restaurants. The dishes are complex and there are many dairy-laden, eggy, meat-based dishes. Even browsing Tomatina's website made me question its vegan-friendliness. When I arrived at the birthday dinner, I asked our waitress what their vegan options were. To my surprise, Tomatina is quite vegan-friendly. Our waitress even confessed that she was a vegan herself! She pointed out a bunch of items that could be made vegan, including but not limited to: the garlic rolls without the parm, the salads, choose-your-own pasta/sauce, the piadines, and the pizza without cheese. I ended up going with the hummus piadine (without the feta), and I am so glad I did! It came on a huge plate and was pretty much a salad-stuffed flatbread! It felt like a light meal without being boring (like a salad). It was hearty and really hit the spot. I would highly recommend Tomatina to vegans craving Italian food and those coming in a group with omnivores. read more

This is about to go orders. We love Tomatinas. Been a family favorite for 13 years. Recovering from major surgery a few days ago we placed an order through door dash. When the order arrived we realized, the food was cold. Pizza completely congealed, pastas and salmon cold. The meal for my son, the most important to me was missing, and my pasta which is a treat as I don't usually eat real noodles was made with the wrong sauce making it inedible to me. While DD issued one refund for the missing meal I realize the driver counts on the restaurant to package the food. The receipt shows no check mark on the item for my son. I wouldn't do this if it hadn't happened at least 3 times before. Same deal. And how messed up is it to not have someone's meal for dinner?? So truly 2 of us didn't have dinner and we wound up having to reheat and cook everything anyways. It's the worst experience we could have had. I feel like we have to give up and never order again. It really upset me and I'm getting no satisfaction-no apology from anyone etc. and I still paid for a pasta that was made incorrectly. read more

I had to flag down the server to even see that I was there, and everything is done on an app so there's no table side service. Nora was our server yet new but very nice.. food and service always great!! On our way out I happened to notice the bartender / host / server that used to work at the one in San Mateo .. Tomatina should provide information about whether any and all their cheeses (mozzarella, cheddar, feta, parmesan and any other) are animal based cheeses or vegetarian. It should be transparent to the customer. If not transparent then the establishment should still make effort to check ingredients when you go into dine in their restaurant. This wasn't the case for the Alameda Tomatina. Not good customer service if they are not willing to make effort to figure it out. read more

So, Tomatina used to be my favorite place to eat. But, I went last night and was thoroughly disappointed. Me and my family of 9 ate in a booth there, and all of a sudden we heard a dog bark. Next to my booth was a woman with a dog( not a working dog but her domestic animal). She had him on the booth bench while we ate. I'm allergic to dog hair and was mortified that an animal was allowed in a eating establishment that wasn't for working purposes. I won't be return to this Tomatina at all. read more

Since returning back to the area, the attention to detail and service has severely diminished. Our attempts to enjoy a dinner or lunch here have been disappointing. Employees stand around near customers and gab loudly. Servers appear not to be trained. Management is disinterested in resolving customer concerns. Options on the menu are limited, and then fail to deliver any sense of "wow". We will never be back to dine or take-out. Beware if you are considering this option on Park Street. read more

Ordered lunch for my team on Thursday, 17 Sept 2020. Where to begin: 1. They delivered an hour after the end of the promised time frame. 2. When handing off to the driver, they dropped the order on the floor, and proceeded to try to rebag it. The driver told them they had to remake it 3. There were so many things wrong with the order. See the photo of the pizza that is just sauce and crust. 4. Ordered a Chicken Piadine, received a chicken salad 5. None of the drinks were received 6. One salad received completely undressed and no dressing included 7. No flatware received (you are specifically asked if it's needed) 8. I called to speak to a manager was told none was available but that I would be called back. STILL WAITING. I've used them over the years for meetings but this...yeah never again. Tomatina ME!! Imagine little pockets (4 or 8) of heavenly goodness falling from the sky into a bowl, drizzled with olive oil, spices, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. The infamous "Garlic Rolls" are worth the glitz and glam. Shhh...I am currently cheating on the Garlic Rolls with the Piadine! This fabulous, yet simple item is delectable. Not quite sure how to describe this almost-tortilla like plate with a salad on top, but you can fold it and eat it like an XXXL taco or eat it open faced. Its somewhat a conundrum, yet delicious. I've indulged in the Steak and the Cesar, and have yet to stop talking about both (my sister can attest to this). A sweet surprise - the steak is slightly sweet, which compliments the romaine lettuce, onions, and ranch dressing. Very simple, yet robust in flavor and crazy big in portion. Nibbling on my sis' Chx Parm, much to her dismay, it was on par with everything else I've tried. Not too much bread or overly drenched in marinara, unlike most places that offer this traditional dish. Light breading, juicy chicken, and perfectly topped with marinara sauce, I now understand her unwillingness to share ;) If gnocchi is your thing, then wa-la, you get a heaping side of those as well. Ohhh - The Garden pizza is life changing! The broccoli, yes, broccoli on pizza, is perfectly season and cooked. Thin pizza crust is not really my thing, but the flavor of this pizza is so yums that I forgot about my pickyness. So, all this raving and its still not a 5 star. It was a Sunday evening and that was exactly how our Server served :/ He was tired and working hard, so many things slipped through the cracks. The setting is nice and lots of booth. The service is also pretty decent; special thanks to the waitress that was so patient with me. so for that an extra star. Food wise, i've had better and here is why: Shrimp capelinni: this was a dish with angel hair pasta sauteed shrimp with garlic in a white wine butter sauce with marinara sauce. Besides the capers being the only flavorful thing (though even i've had better capers because i felt these weren't pickled long enough for the flavors to fully come out) the marinara tasted too much like the pizza sauce. It was sort of nice because of the freshness of the tomato. it had a bit of a sweet and acidity. The shrimp was nice and tender (not too overcooked where it shrivels up) sautéed in the buttered white wine sauce then added on top of the angel hair pasta with the marinara sauce as the base. Since the angel hair is so thin and small it's hard to cook it, this time it was a bit overcooked. The only thing i would probably only come here for are the selection for the customized pizza. I ordered a customized pizza with whole wheat flour dough, ricotta cheese, oven backed chicken, sun dried tomato and arugula. I really liked the fact that i was able to customize my pizza to my liking BUT the dough was a bit on the thin side. I like thin crust pizza but this was brittle thin. It was hard to eat since my pizza would crack on me if it didn't have the layer of cheese to hold it together. The sun dried tomato was excellent though. And everything they make are house meaning that they prepare it themselves instead of store bought or canned. which is really nice. read more
