We're from out of town. After a day a the beach, we wanted to eat pizza. We arrived at one other pizza place in Alameda, but the wait time was 30 -45 minutes. I had 4 hungry kids. We searched for another restaurant and found Alameda Pizza. So happy we did! They had bigger pizza's and more food options. We ordered a XL pepperoni/ mushroom pizza and cheese ravioli added meatballs with pesto. Oh yeah, and a slice of cheese pizza for my toddler. DELICIOUS! Pizza crust was so soft! Toppings were perfect! Meatballs were super tasty! Everything was amazing! I rarely take pics of my food, but wish I took pics this time. We were all starving though. It looked like a masterpiece. We enjoyed everything so much, we ate it all. Most times we have leftovers. Not this time. To top it off, staff were super sweet. We felt welcomed. Great service is hard to get these days. Don't be scared of the old school feel inside. Took me back to my high school days, pizza place across from my school. To me, it was a sign the food was going to be delicious. I was right! My daughter and I walked into this pizza place during the 4th of July parade, and from the moment we stepped inside, the owner made us feel like we weren't welcome. He was standing by the door watching the parade and reluctantly came behind the register to help us. I asked if they sold pizza by the slice. Instead of being friendly or helpful, he answered in a cold, annoyed tone, explaining the starting price and that extra toppings would cost more. I said that was fine and asked how long it would take. He said 5-10 minutes. Since my son didn't want to wait, I politely told him we'd come back later and i said As we were walking out, I overheard the owner whisper to one of his employees, "He's just wasting my time." I turned around and said, "You're running a business. What do you expect?" He then rudely told me to get out. I've never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. We came in intending to buy food, but the owner's attitude made it clear he didn't want our business. The garden salad was fresh. The calzone with toppings of pepperoni and mushrooms was so delicious. The calzone had the right amount of cheese and the portion size was decent and reasonably priced. The proprietor who took my order only asked for payment after the food was prepared and not before which I thought was great customer decorum. This is your basic hole-in-the-wall pizza place, which is completely fine in my book for weeknight takeout for the family or grabbing a quick slice if you're in the neighborhood. My issue is that they charge far too much for what you get. Their XL size pizza is 18", which is on the slightly smaller size (XL at New York pizza across the island is 20"). I paid $42.64 for an XL pizza with 2 toppings. In my book, that's a "premium pizza" price that I'd expect to pay from a place like Star or Marley G's, not from run of the mill takeout pizza. I recently moved to Alameda and over the past months have been searching for new spots (pizza, taquerias, dim sum, tandoori, etc). The first month I was here, I lucked upon Alameda Pizza. Their toppings-to-dough ratio is perfect for me. I learned from the owner (nice guy!) that their delivery had became unavailable due to being short-staffed- he was doing everything himself. A classic pepperoni pizza. No frills, all flavor. Quiet and casual pizza spot. We walked in for a whole pie and the gentleman who attended us was very kind! Within 15 minutes, he brought out a hot and fresh pizza. The ratio of everything was perfect. The crust was soft, but crispy at the same time and the sauce was slightly sweet which was a nice contrast to the spice in the pepperoni. This I was what a pepperoni pizza should taste like. Perry got it right- a hole in the wall pizza place that charges too much- OK I only got 2 slices of regular cheese pizza and I think TJ's imported from Italy has 2x the personality at 1/2 the price. It's nothing fancy by any means, but it's great for something casual and cheap. Stopped by for a few slices and I got just that. There was nobody else in the store when I went, so it had me skeptical at first. But once I sat down and enjoyed my slices (pre-corona), I knew that I was in good hands. It's not the largest pizza parlor, but they've got enough space to accommodate several parties. They've got a couple different beers and daily happy hour specials. I love that they do pizza by slice because sometimes I just don't wanna order a whole damn pizza. I mean... it's just ME. Pizza prices seem pretty reasonable though. I ordered a pepperoni and sausage slice which is more like two thin slices. They baked the slice to a crisp which I like, but the cheese a little on the dry side. Thin crust, not doughy, but perfect for those who prefer a crisper crust. Also had a small house salad which was basic but tasty. For the value, it's honestly a great deal. I have been ordering pizzas from this West End place for nearly 30 years! My favorite is the Alameda Special. Usually I get a medium with thin crust. It has Pepperoni, salami, Canadian bacon, feta cheese, olives and tomatoes. With a tangy rich sauce. Very tasty pie. I have included photos of the current menu. Same staff have been here for decades, so the pizza quality doesn't change. With Covid-19 conditions, orders are takeout only. Not surprised by the mixed reviews here. Went in today for a large pepperoni pizza and the owner took my order, not very friendly. I waited about 10 minutes for a pizza and before he told me it was ready he questioned where my tip was, "the receipt said cash tip, where's the cash?" I had put in $1 because I didn't have $5 and the fact he asked me where the money was because his accountant was going to check really just caught me off guard. I ended up giving him $5 after asking for change because it was awkward af. The pizza was fine, nothing special I couldn't get from a frozen pizza. Also got a Greek salad and the dressing was solid so couldn't even use on my salad without microwaving. No sides given. Doubt I'll be back. read more

Was in the mood for a quick slice and was happy to walk past this place which had $4.00 cheese slices! You can add a topping for 50¢ but the cheese was amazing enough without any add ons. He whipped it up fresh in front of my eyes instead of pulling something out from a heat lamp, which is not typical these days! It was the perfect treat to enjoy sitting out front in the sun. Alameda Pizza has a small storefront in the middle of the Webster St. shopping district in Alameda. They serve fresh made pies, or reheated pizza by the slice. On my first and only visit, I walked in and two older men just stared at me. One was behind the counter, and the other was chopping garlic at a table. They were the only people in the place, and it was strange that there was no greeting. I said, "Hello!", and got a nod in return. A simple cheese slice is listed at $3.00. However, I was charged $3.29 before tax. It was such a small overcharge so I didn't question it. But the menu pricing should be updated. The pizza sauce has a strong flavor. Its not like most pizzas where the sauce is subtle. It definitely is prominent in the flavor profile of their pizza. The quality of the pizza was a bit lacking. The texture of the crust was one notch up from microwaved. I would recommend getting a fresh made pie, as the reheated slices are left out for quite some time due to lack of turn-over. read more
