Regarding the store on alma and hedgecoxe plano, texas. I normally provide this store with multiple visits a month at a cost of hundreds of dollars. I was mislead with incorrect shelfing and pricicing by the front manager and two emploees. Several shelves of wine with prici g on the shelves. I was rudely advised the wine on said shelves and pricing are not correct. The shelves were situated in the open part of the store. If not for sale the shelves of wine and pricing should not be readily available to the public Very misleading. I will not provide any future business to this store or affiliated companies. I was very disappointed with the front managers and the two employees customer service skills! read more

Your prices are extremely high but I still come to your store occasionally because it's convenient and close to home. But I have a complaint when you're charging such high prices. why am I sacking my own groceries and pushing my own basket to the car?? then when you sack the groceries I get home and find that the cashier has put raw meat in with my other groceries. This is unacceptable for any store, but if I go to a very cheap store, maybe they don't take time to train their employees properly. You've got the money--please train your employees. the next time I come I'm going to scrutinize how the groceries are bagged. Please tell your employees don't put raw meat in with other groceries. It should be sacked in a grocery bag by itself. It's clean, it's convenient and it has pretty much everything that I was looking for. Tom Thumb is part of the Safeway family so I was able to use my Randall's card and the Just for U discounts here with no problem. Pretty much everything that Randall's has, Tom Thumb has. Plenty of carts and mini-carts when at the front along with complimentary sanitary wipes to clean the cart handles. I was looking for some Fuji apples that were on sale for $0.97/lb (normally Fuji Apples cost at least $2.50/lb) but they were all OUT. So this was a bummer. But then again they probably didn't have that many in the first place because when I was looking at the empty space for the apples, it was just a tiny space as opposed to the Randall's that I frequent in Houston. This Tom Thumb also doesn't have any self checkout registers so I had to wait in line in the only open register at around 10 pm at night. It didn't take that long for me to wait in line, but if they had some self check out, I would have used it and it would have been more convenient for me. Stay clear of this place unless you like expired food. Just in this place today and was looking for oranges and some cheese. The oranges on the shelf were turning green with mold and the cheese I purchased was expired by a month. You would think that in this day of age they would know when food needs to be pulled off the shelf but it seems the store is run by idiots. This place has consistently poor customer service. They send these big, colorful ads to my mailbox and in my newspaper, then when I go, the items are not there. Today, a manager said they "must be out" of the $.69 chicken legs, but there is no shelf tag or empty spot, and I'm sure it never existed. I asked about large bags of already-popped corn, and they said Tom Thumbs don't carry them any more. I found them at the Thumb in West Plano and in McKinney. Liars! While waiting in the ever-present line for check-out, a manager went around loudly telling checkers not to bag groceries in cloth bags, but to have customers do it themselves, and if we get nasty about it he would handle us. He seems to think we are the enemy, and wanted everyone to know it. One customer asked about job openings, and that same manager laughed out loud and said to forget it, no help was wanted. The website is begging for applicants. This is a big, pretty store, but the management seems hostile. read more

Probably the worst single incident regarding customer service I have experienced in a while. Stopped in to purchase some soft drinks for my office and noted a sale of 4 half cases for $11. I selected two cases and figured the discount would apply---wrong. As usual, there was ONE checkout person on duty but a young man quickly opened another lane. He scanned my merchandise: $11.97. I asked about the discount. He told me I hadn't swiped my discount card. (Typically I enter my telephone number.) He had scanned the merchandise before I could do either. When I asked about the price, he told me it only applied to a purchase of four half cases. He didn't offer to let me pick up two more half cases. No. He abruptly left the register and I paid full price for half the sale quantity. Outside I realized why he wanted from behind the register so bad. He was on his cell phone on a personal call. That employee and the lousy customer service cost Tom Thumb a customer. He would be terminated in my company. read more

Every thing in the store is over priced, even the items supposedly on sale and to get the supposedly sale price you have to buy 3 or 6 or 10 tp get the price. An example is a 6 pack of 16oz Coke Zero 4.99. Thank God there is a there is a Walmart Neighborhood Grocery 1.4 miles away they have Coke Zero 6 pack 16 oz for 2.50. Everything at the Walmart Neighborhood is cheaper. read more

This place is not clean. The "Covid station" at the front of the store is never stocked and has used hand wipes everywhere. There is usually trash in the carts. "Online Coupons" make it impossible for the elderly to use the coupons if they are not tech savvy. I truly believe this is a class action law suit that would be a slam-dunk for any atty's willing to take it on. They advertise special prices it in the flyer but don't sell it to those that are not fortunate enough to have an internet capable device, and the knowledge to use it. If you still choose to shop here, keep in mid they are low stock on the sale meat items many days. Produce seems good but pricey. This is the worst Tom Thumb I've ever been in my life and I've been to many of them. They have good flowers and meat. that's about it. Almost every time I go they overcharged me and I have to go to the service desk to get a refund and act like they never heard about their policy to get it free if they overcharged you. This Tom Thumb is smack dab in between my new home and my office. Quick and easy in and out when I need to get something on the way to work, on the way home, or just grab something quick for lunch. My experience: Having worked there, I can say this: Management is horrible to its employees and it is political as HELL. Cleanliness was not as important as getting the food out for sale. Exampe: Cakes are made at the speed of ten an hour, frosting and fixins flying everywhere. Write ups would not happen if you are favored by management, which some were. If you want UNhappy people touching your food, then shop here. This could be improved if the bakery manager would remove the stick up her ass, and the deli manager would stop being her BFF. This is my fave nearby large store to go to. Nice deli department, most of the veggies are usually good, and clean. Starbucks in there is an added plus for those days when you need a pick me up. However, it's the Meat Department that won me over, especially since Jeff has started working there. Being the daughter of an ex-butcher, I'm particular about my meat and Jeff never hesitates to suggest something, or stop what he's doing to cut me some ribeye steaks. If you are on a budget, careful shopping will yield some good bargains. I definitely prefer this store to the smallish Kroger that's at the end of my road. read more

We shop here frequently. There's a great assortment of healthy produce and food. They have several items I can't get anywhere else, and of course.. I went to get cucumbers on my lunch break today so didn't have a lot of time...I got a bag of cucumbers which was priced at $2.49, but the register rang it up at $3.49. The check out lady called the grocery dept to price check, and I don't know who was on the phone, but she told me "it's $2.99, do you want it?" I said NO then went back to get another kind. I stopped to double check the price on the first one again, the $2.49 price label is now taken away. I asked the grocer near by (named Juan) "where the price label?". He said he's taken the price off, and that he's the manager, he told me to "just go and tell her it's whatever you saw the price was...she just called me" Twice, I told him the lady heard him say $2.99 so he should come with me, but he refused. Anyway, I went back to the same check out line...and the lady got on the phone to call to check on the price again @!#$%^&*()_@#$%^&*(!...They need to get their act together and not waste my time like that...UGH!!! read more

Tom Thumb advertised Cornish Hens on sale at 2 for $5. I traveled a 12 mile one way trip to buy some. When I got to this store, the sign on the freezer case was altered to read : "Pricing error. $5 each." The actual price must have been $5 /lb as the one package I picked up was marked $9.98. Since Walmart sells the same package of two for over $2 less I didn't think this was a very good buy. read more
