It was the day before Christmas Eve (Christmas Adam if you will); and I needed to grab some steaks for our special dinner. The options at HEB are always fantastic so I made the drive out to Plano. While here I grabbed 5-6 different cheeses for charcuterie and sides, gift wrapping paper, and much more things that jumped into my cart. This is a hill imma die on, get yourself a woman who can COOK. I tell my son all the time, thank God he has a girl who can cook! Otherwise, he'd have to kick her to the curb. I'm really ready to start an OnlyPans for the broads who can't and I don't mean one recipe or twelve, you better be able to make anything in existence (and I'm talking every cuisine, every item imaginable) from scratch - PERIOD. It's funny having recently relocated to TX and people sharing bars with me. Honey, as much as I love a great marg and some brown liquor idgaf about a bar - point me to your best grocery stores. I'm still obsessed with H-E-B, every time I walk through the door I fall in love all over again. I'm in very serious relationships with Eatzi's and Central Market as well but H-E-B just won't fall off. They are on their shi* in a real way. I wandered in today because I wasn't able to secure my garnish for dinner and needed some fresh parsley. I was dehydrated from a trail run in 86 degrees and 30mph winds in November and the wine stations just hit! One after another, all over. I mean I'm not loving my relocation but the way TX takes drinking seriously is very much aligned with the way I take drinking seriously. I walked here, so I was ready to help myself to every tasting station they had, in every dept. I mean tastings in the produce section, tastings in the bakery, tastings in the dry goods - LA needs to bump up their grocery store tastings and get on this level. A grocery store wine tasting is really a beautiful thing. I can't rave about this location anymore than I already have. I am head over heels. I fill my Rx's here, floral is outstanding, balloons lovely, bakery superb, prices on meats unreal. Holiday items always on point. There's not more I can say. I am a huge fan. H-E-B meets my needs in a real way, but of course I still must dabble at all of my other spots because they do too ;) LOVE this store, one of the very few places I will miss dearly when I depart from 75024. read more

I had the one meat plate. For 3 ribs it costs a bit extra. Ribs are fine, smoked and well presented but I didn't get sauce and they don't have the self serve available any longer. I also had the brisket beans and fried green beans as part of my plate. Beans are awful and mostly liquid. I'll avoid those in the future. Fried green beans were okay. I truthfully have not found a side here yet that I like. Took 10 minutes to get my food. This place is okay but can't compete with the better options in the area. read more

When I lived in Austin, I loved H-E-B. They had great quality products at competitive prices. While the quality and variety are still prevalent, the price seems quite expensive comparative to Central Market which is supposed to be even more expensive, but isn't. This particular H-E-B is massive. It is much larger than any grocery store I visited in Austin back in the day, but this made the experience more daunting. I really found the place overwhelming and difficult to navigate. Despite being there on a weekday (Tuesday) during the middle of the day, the place was packed. There were lots of people shopping and there were also lots of employees trying to push large loading carts down aisles to restock. Since there is no logical direction to move through the store like at Central Market, people came from all directions causing ongoing congestion. I appreciated the signs above the shopping cart return stations in the parking lot that reminded customers to bring their reusable bags. Unfortunately, I didn't have mine with me. At checkout, I was dismayed that staff would place only ONE item in a plastic bag instead of grouping three or four like items. I ended up with way too many bags. It was ridiculous and unnecessary. They didn't seem to have an option of paper or plastic - only plastic was a choice. I didn't expect to come here today, so I didn't download the H-E-B app or bring coupons. I would recommend doing both! You will be in sticker shock if you don't. I'm still a fan of H-E-B products, but I think I will stick with Central Market which is closer to me, less crowded, easier to navigate, and affordable for a high end shopping experience. read more

So glad this HEB was finally build around me. This store is huge and always carries everything I need for meal prep and planning food for the week! All the produce is always fresh and the to go meals are a life saver when I'm in a time crunch. The staff has also been super helpful. The only thing is because of its sheer size, it's always crowded so make sure to go on off peak times to avoid a million people and long lines at checkout. read more

I really don't know what to say about this place other than wow it's amazing! They're really aren't many grocery stores anywhere but I've ever been to the compare to this one. It's like a food and drink city warehouse or something. More choices than you know what to do with and the crowds today on a Sunday afternoon are enormous. But the selections are fantastic. The prices are good And it's really a great place to get pretty much anything you want to. After watching H-E-B rush to help the victims of the flash floods, I couldn't help but feel compelled to go to HEB this store is very large and looks like they recently had a remodel. The aisle are large and can comfortably have two carts travel down them side by side. My favorite part of the store was the premade healthy snacks. I had the chicken salad with crackers and yum , very tasty. The prices are lower than the other markets I have shopped at and they have in store coupons. They have a great variety of fresh produce. I wanted to get ahead of my shopping so I arrived at my H-E-B this morning at 6:45. I Love all the hustle & bustle of the employees stocking, they all seem to love working for this company. Let me also add that I love the app that lets you click coupons and make your grocery list. Very customer friendly. Well, I was shopping for a huge brisket for a birthday party dinner I was hosting this Saturday, August 16th. The app said there were 3 types/prices of brisket I was interested in, unfortunately there were no briskets at the $3.88 price. So, Katherine walked by and I asked her if had any in the back. She was so polite and said the beef department was not her specialty but she would get someone to help me, and she did! BTW, looks like she works in the deli department. Sergio was the Man! He was super helpful and explained the 3 kinds of brisket, he truly knows his department. I asked him which brisket he would purchase and it was the prime@$5.99 a lb. I'm so happy with my brisket as it's marinating in the fridge as we speak. Both Sergio & Katherine when above and beyond, my 1 star is no reflection on them. I head to the registers since I have way too many items to do self-checkout...I adore self-check, don't you?? There are only 2 cashiers so I pick one. Well, Essie (sp?) is NOT friendly in the least, nor the other female that is bagging my groceries. The only reason I know her name is Essie is I had to ask another employee, her name tag was invert so you could not read her name. And the employee who bagged my groceries carelessly had no name tag. I believe it should be company policy to wear name tags, and wear them correctly. And I couldn't get her name off my receipt due to it was ripped aggressively off the printer, with her name still left on the printer. I usually shop at Central Market since it is closer to my home. The main reason I wanted to shop H-E-B was I purchased the brisket queso and the Rio Grande coffee. Both Deliciousness! I'm a true Foodie, and let's just say, the people should bag your groceries with respect, especially at the prices of food! When emptying my buggy, I try to put like I get items together, dairy and cold items, cleaning together, dry goods together, etc. Well, my groceries were bagged carelessly, my canned goods were bagged with my tortilla chips (crushed!) and my brisket queso was squashed with my huge bag of avocados. I did not notice my package of brisket queso was damaged by the avocados till I made it to my car. Yes, I had to go back inside to get a fresh brisket queso, but there was food spilled food all over my car seats. Awesome bakery made a specialty cake for a great price. I ordered it from long distance - sending a photo - and they created it on time to perfection. At the last minute I purchased freshly baked croissants that were also delicious! They were very large for "minis" which made them an especially good deal. Their in-house sourdough was scrumptious with the HEB Cherrywood Ham/Havarti on sandwiches, too. The grocery pre-order pickup also went very well. The shopper provided every item and it was brought to the car quickly despite it being a busy super-bowl Sunday. read more

HEB is not just a grocery store -- it's a Texan tradition in itself. In past years, HEB has come up from not just south and central Texas, but now has made their debut as one of the only locations in North Texas (with Irving and Southlake slated to open more locations soon). My experience at the one up on Preston Blvd. in Plano was probably by far one of the most memorable times I have ever gone to an HEB - let alone, the only one to exist in North Texas by far. When they mentioned size, though, let's just say that they were NOT playing around when it came to size. HEB is known for their saying -- providing Texans with the lowest prices and the best quality in terms of groceries, everyday essentials, and so much more. In fact, I find it so convenient that they even sell everyday toiletries like you could find at a CVS, except for a lower price compared to other establishments like Central Market or Kroger's. We had to check out what Texans rant about in the HEB grocery store. The size of the store we visited in Plano was a really great size (which was a good thing as we made the mistake of visiting on one of their busiest times on a Sunday afternoon). I'd suggest you find a time when it isn't as busy as it made it a bit challenging to navigate what we weren't familiar with and to navigate a cart with really full aisles. The store's offerings had a lot of variety in both the range of things they offer (food, household goods, toiletries, etc.), and the number of options or items you can select. One of the things that caught our eye was an entire section of pre-made ready to eat food options. While it wasn't what we needed that day, we can appreciate that offering. We were impressed with the check out staff as they were friendly and welcoming even with the non-stop flood of people. read more

This has been open almost 2 years and although it can't hold a candle to its mother locations, it's still a good place to get your basic groceries. HEB is our favorite supermarket by far. HEB is great. They have a great selection of fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as a great fish and meat selection. My only complaint with HEB is their self-checkout counter. Those machines are so error-prone that an employee needs to unlock them several times during the self-checkout process. A huge pain. That aside, it's still our favorite supermarket. Our main supermarket used to be Whole Foods (now informally known as Amazon Foods), but ever since Amazon took it over, their quality has gone down and their prices up--they are now a million miles away from the original Whole Foods. Baked goods tasted stale and were inedible. The case holding the baked goods was dirty and had insects flying around inside. Gross! How is this acceptable? Health inspectors need to pay a visit. I order curbside from this location pretty frequently because I quickly learned inside is pure chaos! If I have a good 2 hours to spare, sure I'll go in but I'll for sure spend more money than planned. Curbside is just so easy, they're always on time and the employees have always been super nice and friendly. I have had a few missing items before from my haul but it's been reimbursed once I report it. It's inconvenient yes but it doesn't happen too often and I try to check my groceries before I leave the lot now, just in case. Overall, I like it and I'll keep coming back. One thing they can do better is implement some Customer Service cards since there isn't a desk so that customers can request popular items they would like to purchase from them. read more

Once again the service here was fantastic. It was a busy crazy visit and all I needed was frozen Pina colada mix and this is the only store around that carries the brand we enjoy. The line was long but they had the staff on hand to guide customers to the quickest checkout lane. Nice job! read more

Out of many HEB's I have visited, this one is the fanciest, biggest, most organized, and even the employees are amazing. Their butter tortillas are always warm and fresh when we can get our hands on them. The produce is always super fresh. The lines can get long but move quickly. The staff always ask if I need help to my car even. They even offer curbside pickup and it's amazing! Y'all if you haven't been to an HEB then come to this one because it representssssss! This was our first visit to this HEB, and we anticipated a horrible experience because of its newness, its rarity, and its awesomeness combined with the constantly growing, swollen masses of humanity in the DFW metroplex. It wasn't a bad visit! Getting in and out of the parking lot was easy, and much less of a hassle than with small town HEB parking lots. The store was crowded but also laid out in a manner that facilitated traffic. The shelves were well-stocked, despite some nationwide food shortages. It is January 2023 and, tell me, when is the last time you could find the OG Sriracha in a supermarket? I would come back here in a heartbeat and load up for the week or two - especially for produce. Finally got to visit this location of HEB... and thought it was just like any other grocery store. Nothing spectacular about it except that is is new... but offers the same items as other regular grocery stores. It was nice, just like other stores like Central Market and Whole Foods, to see an area of ready to go meals like salads, pastas, and salmon and veggies. I tried the salmon and veggies for dinner and it was okay. I prefer a very similar product at Market Street. In my opinion too, the store was just too busy and chaotic. This review is just for the meat market. I went on Friday May 15th and went to the meat counter where I asked the attendant if they could cut me two (inch and a half) dry aged ribeye's. He goes back to the butcher and asks. He came back and said that they could and the butcher will be right with me. So I wait and wait. No one else is at the meat counter. I wait some more. I see the attendant go back several times to ask the butcher again and each time he comes back and tells me that the butcher will be right with me. So I wait some more. I see the butcher at the back counter cutting some stuff up for the package meat area. I see him finish one hunk of meat and instead of coming and helping me he grabs another chunk of meat and starts cutting. There are 3 butchers back there. I guess the package meat has more return moneywise that the dry aged ribeye. I will now have to find another place for my dry aged steaks. read more

It's obvious from the instant you walk in the door, These Guys know what they're doing. The DFW grocery market is one of the most competitive in the country. Some heavy hitters have come and gone including Food Lion, Winn Dixie and others. They all made huge investments and had to walk away. The new Texas Disneyland of grocery stores known as HEB has had a solid reputation as a smaller regional grocer, concentrated in San Antonio, Austin and places south. Their foray into this market comes with enormous commitments to what can only be described as Super Stores. Everything is big and the offerings are big. I dare say anything you want lies between these walls. Every grade and cut of meat to,bakery items,cheeses, on and on. I picked up fresh gulf shrimp, a Wagu Strip steak, esoteric gouda cheese and yes, a 75 cent grocery store donut! I left with two small bags and a $60 tab. This is what they are hoping for and what they will have to have to survive. The place is bonkers with people everywhere, full baskets, and crowded isles. Again,I can't imagine it remaining like this but, It feels like to maintain the extensive offerings and keep the doors open, its imperative. I hope they succeed because I love food and choice. I LOVE H-E-B!!! I was so excited when I heard they were coming to the DFW area! They've only been open a few weeks but we braved the crowd anyway on a Friday early afternoon. The store did not disappoint. The clerks that worked there were extremely friendly and helpful. I went in looking to buy some of their bratwurst, which I have had before and it is quite delicious. I was also looking for ready made food for dinner. It also appears I had a major carb attack! EVERYTHING we bought is top notch quality and the prices are decent. The store is so huge and since it was my first visit, I wasn't familiar with where everything was located. The store was very crowded with lots of other shoppers. I will definitely be back because I now have many more favorites to purchase again. I also saw many products I want to buy on a return visit. I hope H-E-B fully expands in the entire DFW area. Special Preview Day Before Opening Day: H-E-B has come to Plano, TX. Knowing the competitive market it has entered, H-E-B has brought its flair of Central Market to the Walmart & Whole Foods crowd. If you enter from the south entrance, you are greeted with rows of fresh fruits and vegetables - floral scents from bouquets of flowers and the sweet smell of BBQ! Prepared meals and sushi will catch your attention as you move towards a huge selection of in-store made bakery items. More prepped items greet you into rows of seafood, meats and chicken. Don't want their BBQ? No problem, because they have some many options to please your grill. Christmas charcuterie boards will be flavored with the cheese and spread options displayed at this store. It is a can't miss view of world cheeses. Moving through the store, our guide pointed out local flavors with signage to boot. TIP: Look for items with the "local" tag that reflect companies from Texas. To go with that cheese, HEB has a large wine & beer section. Having the opportunity to meet one of wine specialists, I was able to get a preview of how the area is set up. They also offer samples of choice wines and there is an area of chilled wines. TIP: Look for their digital deals that are highlighted in store and available from their app. Our guide also highlighted that endcaps could have full meal options and specials for the week. I have never smelled a candle that smelled like butter tortillas - until today! And the household section had full rugs, outdoor furniture, pet beds and holiday decorations. I enjoyed learning about the HEB brands and the company's dedication to Texas. (They are actually an international company that only functions in one state in the US - the great country of Texas!) HEB is ginormous! It's about the size of a Walmart Supercenter but instead of having the household, electronics, and clothing sections that Walmart has, it's 98% grocery items. The thing that makes HEB so popular is its chef-prepared food items. From BBQ sandwiches to sushi, you can get fresh prepared food here that was made in-house. It's certainly a draw and the food is good! One thing that I like a lot about HEB, is that they have a meal prep section with A LOT of options. The food is good and heats up in 2 to 20 minutes. Some of the cook times need some review, but for the most part, the cook times are accurate. They also have the options sectioned by need including "low carb", "vegetarian," etc. There's also a small home and decor section in the store that rotates with the seasons and is along the same lines of what you'd find at HomeGoods, Buccee's or a nice home decor boutique. They also have a small amount of HEB branded merch, in case you love HEB just that much. So why not 5 stars? This place can be overwhelming. It's so packed and so huge that it can be frustrating to get in and get out (hmm kinda like Walmart). The staff at the checkout are very friendly but the lines can be long depending on when you come here. I avoid popular days here like the plague to avoid the crowds, but this place is never empty. Well, unless you go at 2am maybe. Also, because of the size, some things may be hard to locate within the store. The aisles, items, and sections of the store where things are can be challenging to find depending on what you're looking for. The last time I was there, I had a terrible time finding Arizona green tea among the 3-4 beverage aisles. Yes, you read that right - 3-4 beverage aisles. Most grocery stores have one beverage aisle, maybe two at the most. HEB has three or four. And there's traffic in ALL OF THEM. Aside from these things, HEB is great and I definitely recommend checking it out. Just don't say I didn't warn you if you go on a Saturday afternoon. You'll be sorryyyyyy.... read more

H-E-B is an incredible grocery chain, and we are so fortunate to have one in Plano. No other grocery chain has the amazing service, products, selection and prices that H-E-B does. What is so special about H-E-B? No question, their store brands are amazing. Pick the H-E-B brand, or even Hill Country, and you are practically guaranteed something comparable or BETTER THAN name brands but with a lower price. And store brands are offered in just about every single product. I would rather shop at H-E-B because their staples like bread, cheese, coffee, and produce are just better and cheaper than other chains. H-E-B is in it to win it. I sincerely hope they thrive in the Dallas area just like they have in the rest of Texas cities where they are well loved. read more

This review is specifically for the bakery department. My husband and I chose HEB to make our wedding cake. The experience started out promising. We went in for a cake consultation, tried out all of the different flavor options, and then placed our cake order 2 weeks in advance of our wedding. We were told the cake would be ready the day-of the wedding, and we even paid the cake in full in advance. Unfortunately, my husband stopped by HEB the morning of the wedding only to be told that there was no cake for us, and somehow the bakery department completely forgot to make our cake. Needless to say this was totally unacceptable for them to drop the ball in this manner. They rushed our cake on the spot and made it in an hour, but I would assume the quality of cake was not the same (as the wedding cake lead was not there that morning). And this also added unnecessary stress to a very important day. We've reached out to customer service and the store management team about this, but they are refusing to refund the cost of the cake and instead are only willing to offer an HEB gift card that is not even close to equivalent to the price we paid for the cake. Overall just stay far away and look elsewhere for wedding cakes. read more

I ordered and paid for tamales several days ago to be picked up at 5:30 today. We had ordered them to be served tonight for dinner with 10 out of town guests. We pulled into the curbside and texted we were there. A woman came out and said sorry, they were out of stock. Thats it, no offer to do anything, didn't say why it happened. Totally UNACCEPTABLE. How can that happen? I will tell everyone I know to never order food there, I will never shop there and if I do not receive some kind of apology from management I will continue to write horrible review. "Opening date!" and finally, Image of large bowl of guacamole with logo and no copy at all for some reason! (literal Plot Twist, which is ironically the name of their new ad agency) I planned to wait a bit and avoid the crowds. Then it just happened, on a weekend afternoon returning from brunch, I decided to risk it all and potentially trigger every aspect of my agoraphobia. Here's how it went down... Parking lot vibe: Beyond Thunderdome. The space: Huge. Seemed clean and organized. Probably nicer without all the people in the way. The experience: My entire shopping trip felt like I was waiting for a new ride at Disneyland. The only reason I didn't abandon my cart and make a break for it was because the exit was too hard to get to. The inventory: -A junk food junkie's dream! Got my fix with Twinkie flavored k-cups -Pre-prepared food (some keto-ish!) that did not look appetizing enough for the price -Decent mix of healthy snacks, powders, and potions, but priced higher than other stores -Produce section for the win + smaller sizes of prepped veggies (genius) -Deli/bbq/meat/fresh tortilla counters were inaccessible The employees: Trained right. Pride in their jobs. Genuinely helpful. I was happy to find the wine section and try a few to help me relax for the rest of my shopping journey. Sample guy shared appreciation for my Motorhead shirt and we talked about music. Stress level dropped a bit, thanks dude. Also, they have a whole crisis team directing traffic for the checkout lanes.
