1 Star - Crate & Barrel: Disrespect Is Not Good Customer Service Let me paint the picture clearly. I walked into the Crate & Barrel store--dressed well, walking with confidence--ready to browse and spend money. Four sales associates, all white, standing in a small group near the entrance. They saw me. One made direct eye contact as I walked in... then immediately turned back around like I was invisible. No greeting. No "Hello." No "Welcome in." Not even a nod. Just went right back to their conversation like I wasn't even a person who just entered their place of business. As I walked through the store--alone, the only customer in sight--not a single associate approached me. I passed multiple staff members. Nothing. No offer to help. No eye contact. No acknowledgment. It wasn't until I turned around to leave, clearly disappointed, that someone finally called out from behind, "Did you need help with something?" Now you ask? After I've walked the whole store and been completely ignored? Let's be real: I'm a Black man. And I know exactly what I experienced. This wasn't just bad service--it was selective service. Let's not pretend like they didn't know how to greet a customer. They just chose not to treat me like one. So I left. I got on my phone, Googled your competitors, and headed straight to West Elm. Night and day. At West Elm, I was greeted warmly the second I walked in. Asked what I was looking for. Shown options. Given space and attention without hovering or ignoring me. It was clear they wanted my business and valued my presence. Guess what? That's where my money went. And that's where it'll go again. Crate & Barrel--you lost more than a sale today. You lost a customer. And I hope others who value dignity, equity, and basic respect take note. Do better. read more

I had a designer from Willow Bend Crate and Barrell in my home for a design consultation. Before I placed the order, I asked the designer if I needed to measure anything. Designer replied "No, I have it all here in my Ipad". I placed order. A sofa and chaise that were delivered 11/4/2025 clearly do not work due to their dimensions. The chaise cannot be accessed because it buts up to the coffee table. I reported the problem to the manager in less than 24 hours via phone call. She said send pictures. I went to store on 11/10/2025 and verified she had pictures and all of my contact information. She was to talk to designer 11/10/2025 or 11/11/25 and loop me in. I even invited them to my house to provide a solution. I have been polite and trying to amicably resolve this. I have not heard anything back. Manager said this was custom because I selected the fabric; but, clearly the designer made a mistake. Designer should have said get a sofa the chaise won't work. The manager told me in person on 11/10/2025 she would file with corporate. I asked to be looped in. Tomorrow will be one week. I have not heard anything. Very distressing. Over many years I have had designers in my home from Nebraska Furniture Mart, Macy's, Ethan Allen, IBB Designs, Ross Howard Window Treatments, California Closet (two homes) and I have never experienced a problem. Designers should tell you if something will not work due to size. read more

Crate & Barrel is located at Willow Bend and is an extremely expensive Big Box store that you will find at upscale malls all over the country. I went inside this Crate and Barrel in a shopping mall in Plano, Texas, I approached a sales lady to ask a few questions about their dinner ware and I probably asked about 3 questions and her answer to me was "boy you sure have a lot of questions"! Ordered a chair September 12,2022 was told it would be available 2nd week of January 2023. It is now March 31st and delayed again! Since January it has been continuously running late and always told each agonizing long call on hold that it will be by the end of the month OR the beginning of each month since. Not only that, but lied to 7 days ago when I called the it was on their truck in Carolina headed to the TX warehouse. When I called today a rep told me it was being made. I won't bore anyone with all of the frustrating details...and sum it up with 2nd worst retail experience I have ever had. This is far beyond supply chain issues. 1 STAR ONLY BECAUSE I HAD TO GIVE A RATING Ordered a custom made couch on 9/3/2022. We were told at most our order would take 26 weeks. We are now 30 weeks since our order date, and have been told for the last 8 weeks that our "order is in transit from the manufacturer warehouse to the delivery warehouse". We have been told this is from their facility in North Carolina to a delivery facility in Dallas, TX. We have confirmed the couch is completed and not lost with C&B customer service. Our ETA continues to be pushed out on their website. We have called and spoken to multiple people in customer service. One associate has been thorough in her response and follow up to us, but any time we talk to a manager they promise to open additional tickets, call the warehouse and call us back and we have yet to receive a return call. UPDATE THAT I RECEIVED AS I WAS WRITING THIS REVIEW ONCE I BLASTED C&B ON TWITTER AND TAGGED YELP, BBB AND THE TX AG: At this moment in time, we are expecting to receive the right arm and left arm within the next few days, and the Wedge a little later in mid-April. This update came from a person from C&B on Twitter. We were told that the couch had already been put together. The fact that we've been making payments for the last 8 months on a couch that I haven't received is absolutely ridiculous and almost criminal. Their website continues to say that estimated delivery is early April yet the couch isn't even put together? Love that I've getting multiple different stories from within C&B. Had an issue during shipping of a table Susie and Kelly were able to rectify it quickly and get a new one to me. And then even went further above and beyond. I highly recommend this store. I know we all want what we want when we want it but I hope we remember that they want their store to stay and stay open. We need to support our shops and not an online store----you know who they are. My mother and I decided to go to Crate N Barrel yesterday.. I recently had my home renovated and want to purchase new furniture. I perused the store with my mother for about 40 minutes looking at all areas from cookware to bedroom dressers. While I'm in the store not one single person asked me if I needed help... I walked near staff and they just completely ignored me... just before leaving I went up to a staff worker and told her "my mother and I have been in this store for at least 30 minutes and not one single person has greeted us or asked if we needed help". The staff person with a very annoyed look said looked up from her phone and said ... "hmm did you need help with something?" No apologies. No genuine interest to actually help. I came in the store prepared to spend a couple thousand dollars on furniture but I refuse to be treated like I'm invisible or worse yet an inconvenience. I will never go back to that store and plan to make a complaint to their corporate office. This was horrible customer service! read more

I love this store! Every time I come in I'm always greeted by someone friendly and smiling. This is a store that you could do some major damage in. Their prices are decent and they have some amazing things. My fiancé and I registered here for our wedding and it was so easy. I loved that we didn't have someone following us around or checking on us every 5 minutes. They just let us do our thing and occasionally asked if we needed anything. My fiancé and I registered for one of their wedding registration events. I would highly recommend doing this if you're getting married. They have a few light appetizers and you basically walk around and register. Best of all they have two drawings. My fiancé and I won an espresso maker that costs roughly $250! That was a nice little surprise to go home with. Overall a really great place for home decor. They have a good mix of modern, country, outdoor, etc. read more

This review is more about management at this specific location. I ordered a set of folio chairs back in September, it is now May and I still have not received my order. I called the online customer support center and they were of absolutely no help. I then called the store where I purchased chairs. Kyle is the manger there. I hope that Crate and Barrel executives see this. He is truly an asset to the company. He was knowledgeable and spoke to me like a real person and helped me understand the delays. We've shopped at C&B for years. We carry their credit card and have stocked our Christmas tree with ornaments and gifts for over a decade, but our latest experience there was really disappointing. My wife and I don't have a lot of chances to get out together. We chose to stop in this location to kill some time and see what was new for fall. It was over 104 degrees outside that day. We got out of the car, dawned our masks, and entered the store. When we got to the kitchen department there were no shoppers within 40 feet of either of us. My wife was having trouble catcher her breathe and unhooked ONE SIDE of our mask to breathe in the cool air. We were immediately approached by a girl who asked if we were ok and then spoke to my wife as though she was a child. "Can you just pull that back up for me?" she said. The mask was still on my wife's face, just not where this gal wanted it. The clerk/mgr or whatever she was made her way back to the other side of the store without a "thank you" or "I know it's hot outside and I'm sorry we have to ask you..." we got nothing but rudeness. We grabbed a couple of items we needed and went to the counter to get in line to pay. As we were well separated from the only other person in the line, I adjusted my mask but did not take it off. I was immediately approached by a security guard that came to the back of the store (again no other customers around us) to tell me that he would like me to leave my mask alone. After we spent over $70 we headed out of the store. We were pretty irritated with the whole ordeal. We did nothing wrong but were treated like they'd just rather we not be in there and spend any money with them. We always wear our masks. But when you come in from the Texas heat sometimes you just gotta take a breath!!!!! That's all. I went to the trouble of writing to C&B corporate. That was a few months ago and I've never heard back from them. What used to be a place where we made so many memories and family members happy now just doesn't appeal to us any longer. Between having a sales person blow past me to stock shelves (I guess they have the right of way??) to a designer pushing me aside to get his rolling man bag past me while I was totally in his way at checkout, I'll never shop here again. will not come back again! bought [Pure Linen Dip-Dye Blue Duvet Covers and Pillow Shams] at $279.95 plus tax. the store associate recommended this product so we bought it. We washed it as home follow the instruction. First time, after wash it had a lot of fluffs, so we washed the 2nd time, thinking it is a new duvet, so it may requires more wash. But still, the 2nd time doesn't change anything. We brought the product back to store to return it, but the store employee refused because we'd washed the product already. If the Duvet doesn't have the fluff issue, we won't even come back to return it. The product itself has problem. The store employee told us just wash one more time, it should be better. We went home, washed again, still had a lot of fluffs. We even use tape to get away all fluffs, which took two people entire hour to do, since inside and out of the cover all had a lot of fluffs there. Finally after we cleared out all, we washed it again, but the 4th time of washing, new fluffs shown, as much as the last few times. It's like regardless how many times you washed it, it gives the same result. We contacted the customer service team, and they won't do anything. This is not a cheap product, we pay in total more than $300 for nothing. We have allergy problem. This product cannot be used for sure. read more

I received a gift for my wedding from Crate and Barrel (I wasn't registered there). I tried to return it 4 months after my wedding, it's still in the box, all the bowls still wrapped up and they wouldn't take it. Their return policy is a strict 90 day return policy. For a high end furniture, pricey home store, they should have a better return policy. Nordstrom's has a great return policy and that is a reason why they have loyal customers and people continue to shop there. If Crate and Barrel wants to grow their consumer base they should consider adjusting their return policy. I haven't ever gravitated towards crate and barrel but now I never will. Why would I when I can get better service elsewhere. read more

Waiting a month for delivery of table. Verified delivery date online. Today I look and they have deleted the delivery. No email, no call, nothing. I had confirmed the delivery day just two days before. I called customer service and they said that how unfortunate but the truck that had my table "broke down". So we came to Crate & Barrel on a whim and got a great deal on a floor model hutch! I just want to thank Oz! He was fantastic and so helpful. He wasn't pushy like most sales people and didn't even linger after talking to him about the hutch. He let us look and when we decided we wanted it we sought him out and he was beyond helpful! Helped us set up delivery and we even got it same day! If you shop here ask for Oz! He won't push you to make a purchase like most sales people and is very knowledgeable and helpful. For basic silverware, glasses, or white dinnerware, I'd rather go to the outlet. For cookware and cooking utensils, I often find the same items for less on amazon. But there are definitely a few splurge-worthy decor and furniture items here. I don't shop here on a regular basis, but when I'm looking for something very specific and am willing to spend more on it, I usually can find it here. After spending hours online and looking at houzz, I found a beautiful rug for the living room at C&B. It's not a hand-knotted $2000 rug w/out the latex backing, but it is hand tufted wool and feels substantial. For some reason 6'x9' is hard to find, but this place carries that size in quite a few styles. After several more months of searching, I then found a pair of throw pillows with just the right pattern and tones to add accent w/out looking generic. It's great that C&B includes the pillow insert with the removable cover for one price, unlike other stores in the same price range. My husband is into woodworking, but he hates to shop. However, he is willing to walk through this store with me and will point out the craftsmanship features in the wood furniture. In general, I haven't had issues with their customer service. read more

I have been visiting this store since it the day it opened. Typically, everyone is ok and friendly. Today I came in to return sometime that an associate had ordered in the wrong size from last week. As I was waiting in line 6 feet away with my mask on from the person in front of me, I moved closer to the next available register not realizing the second cashier was not coming back. So my 5 year old daughter and I moved back in line. Hilda B. was the only cashier left. As she was assisting a Caucasian woman in front of me, she looked around and proceeded to tell me that I was out of line and pointed to the end of the line where I should go. Oddly enough, she saw and made eye contact with me waiting at least 5 minutes before. I replied politely that I have been waiting in line. She then told me that I needed to move back further away from the register. At this point, the African America man behind me had already moved up closer as well. I could tell he was uncomfortable as well the way she was talking to me. He also looked confused of her behavior that was so unnecessary. My daughter and I didn't have much room to move anywhere else from the register. Finally, when it was my turn, no hello, no how are you, then again told me to stay behind the screen with my daughter. Then rudely laid my receipt on the counter when she was done. Again, no thank you, nothing. When I was done, I walked away and watched her interactIons with the few customers behind me. I wanted to make sure that this was happening to just me! I am an Asian American 5'3 tall and average weight. The man right after me was at least 6ft tall and twice my weight. My point here is that I am in no way way could have taken up much space nor was directly in front on her. HIlda B. was so polite to him and not once asked him to stay or behind the dividing screen. This man stood directly in from of the counter opening where he laid his merchandise to check out. After this, she continued smile with her eyes and greeted everyone on after like nothing happened. I was so upset and disappointed that I could not say anything to her because I didn't want my daughter to acknowledge nor feel the fact she was so racist and made us felt out of place. So I decided to leave my daughter with my sister by the door while I spoke to Kyle, the manager. The tone of her voice made me feel so disgusted and mad that we were being treated this way. The way she spoke and looked at us was so belittling with so much prejudice like we had COVID all over us. As a 44 yo Asian, born and raised in America, we were taught to work hard, comply and not disrupt. The tone and way she spoke to me with so much control and authority believing that she could get away with it. She was so proud that she put my daughter and I back in "our place." I never, never felt so embarrassed and humiliated in front of a crowd, especially not being able to defend nor speak up for myself without losing my calm in front of my daughter. I can assure her that it would have been a different scenario if my daughter wasn't with me. The last thing I want to teach my daughters is hate! Being with my innocent 5yo daughter, I told Kyle that I had to speak up about her unacceptable behavior. Honestly, I hope and want to believe that Kyle actually brought to her attention to rectify and put her in her place. Hilda, I hope you read this. Sadly enough, you are moving backwards. You are huge part of the problem why we can't move forward. It is a shame that Crate and Barrel has Hilda B. representing this brand. read more

Everyone in the Plano store has been phenomenal, especially Oscar! He has been my go-to for design ideas and inspo!
