I love Aldi. The prices are so frugal-friendly. I've been shopping here for a long time. Unfortunately, I have 3 issues with this particular store. 1. The place is always busy and sometimes there are no cashiers in sight. I know fewer employees is part of Aldi's plan to be cost-efficient, but maybe it's time to consider a couple of backup people for the evening or weekend rushes. 2. When checking out with a full cart, even if you already have items ready for easy-peasy scanning and carefully sorted in boxes, some of the cashiers empty those boxes and just haphazardly fling your groceries into an empty cart. There's not much time to say anything because there are lines forming behind you. When the cashier is finally made aware, the response is "oh well" and they continue to fling. It's a pain in the hoo-hah to spend 30 minutes wrangling loose, small items and repacking boxes or bags. 3. The produce selection looks ok from a distance. But when you start poking around, there's brown slime on lettuce. A bag of red potatoes squished into my hand. Bananas are growing white fuzz. The tomatoes have green fuzz. I tried to be inconspicuous taking pics so I only got the one shot of the lettuce. Flies and gnats love it. I truly hope conditions improve in produce. Right now, I have to go elsewhere for GOOD and fresh produce. And it sucks because $100 of fruits & veggies at Tom Thumb would be $30 at Aldi. read more

BYOB aka Bring Your Own Bags (and a quarter for the shopping cart) I was reluctant at first to shop at Aldi. Almost all of the products are Aldi's own label brand so the unfamiliarity made me second guess what I could expect. Turns out, most of the products are great! The snack food variety is good and many of the products are just as good and waaaay cheaper than name brands. Baking staples are mind blowingly inexpensive. I tried a take and bake deli style pizza on this trip and it was so much better than I could have ever guessed. It was an odd flavor for pizza, chicken bacon and ranch, but man it was tasty! Their produce is dirt cheap. My favorite item is the chocolate chip brioche loaf. It's so delicious you'd think it came from a bakery. The eggs and milk are the lowest prices you'll find. After you check out, you're responsible for bagging your own groceries. There's something kind of cathartic about playing Tetris with your purchases. read more

Unfortunately I have been going to Murphy ALDI for over 9 yrs and today the manager was the most difficult unable to assist to get the need pumpkin i have needed for over 6 months- ALDI never has any since March then today there is a limit of 2 cans!!! I use the pumpkin for rescue dogs and 2 cans doesn't help!! Today is the only day I have ever seen a limit of 2 cans!! I'm very disappointed in this manager customer service!! Will be filling a complain with corporate office. Very very upsetting want a better manager who understands customer service since there was others in store purchasing cases of items and the limits were not imposed!?!?!? read more

Aldi's is like going back in time (somewhat) to the old neighborhood markets that existed in most towns and cities long ago - just the basics and a few frills. Since I used to live in the Midwest, am very familiar with Aldi's. They have had a long presence there and are in nearly every good sized town. I was so glad to see them move to Texas a few years back and even more thrilled that they opened in Wylie. Though I now live elsewhere, I have been to this store on occasion and found it to be clean and well stocked and even though they only have 4 employees working at any given time, I was checked out pretty quickly. Side Note - During Christmas, they will put out German confections and pastry that are quite hard to find elsewhere and the quality is excellent! read more

I'm going to give this 3.5 star... This is my first time going to an Aldi store, I didn't know what to expect... Remember to bring a quarter and your own shopping bags----you'll need the quarter to get a cart...and they don't provide shopping bags. This is not a full on supermarket like you'd expect if you're going to krogers or Walmart. It's a cross between a krogers and dollar store. I say that bc there's a mix of groceries and a mix of household stuff...blankets, blenders, random stuff... They didn't have cilantro and some basic herbs the day I went; not sure it's normal....they did have some produce but there were flies everywhere and I wasn't about to go near it. But I was shocked at their deli/cheese selection! I found some great packaged cheese and Italian meats that's hard to find (like capocollo) and they were reasonably priced! I think I spent most of my $80 in this section; just cheese and meats I grabbed a large Atlantic salmon there too; it was fresh and really good. About $20! appearance wise it looks kind of like a hot mess but everything I did buy; I did like. I wish it was more organized and would have been nice if I didn't have to wait for a cashier....it looked like no one was working there... I think I'd only come back for the cheese & meats....I liked the selection and prices. read more

There is a limit on a number of milk cans which they do not notice to u till checking out. The manager lady ran into me and took some milk cans back and left the cashier to explain to me. I felt like I was just stealing the over-limited milk cans from them. read more

Aldi is great! Search on Bing or Google for the best items to buy at Aldi and you cannot go wrong. My favorites are OJ, Bottled Water (sodium free), breads, eggs and tortilla chips. Bring a quarter to rent a shopping cart and some tote bags to carry your groceries out. They don't have paper or plastic bags. read more

I actually grew up in the town where Aldi is headquartered and therefore have not given them a whole lot of thought to be honest. Back in the 70s and 80s there was little to get excited over and as I moved around the country I never gave them much thought. We recently moved to the Wylie area and we hit up Aldi because we got an ad in the mail that had really good produce prices. I have to say that I have not been disappointed. The produce, while limited (which is the whole concept of the store- few choices, less overhead, cheaper prices), has been good. I got four green peppers (pre-packaged) yesterday for 89 cents. Really? I don't like them but my husband does and enjoys grilling them. Then there were mushroom containers at 69 cents a piece. I was able to load my cart up with healthy produce for very little cash. Berries, squash, apples, peaches, etc. My kids were more interested in the cookies and other snacks. Usually I'm the 'no' mom because they don't really need that stuff and it's usually overpriced. Yesterday...I was the YES mom! I had my cape on, "Yes!" Put it in the cart! Yes! We can get that!" No, we still didn't NEED the stuff but it was reasonably priced and there were no trans fats to be seen on the labels so we indulged a little. ;) The store has been clean and orderly each time we've gone. The check out staff has been friendly and, as noted by my kids, "You're so fast at that!" Maybe they have capes too, I don't know. I DO know that with the prices, selection and a gluten-free selection (which I honestly think is pretty decent for a grocery store with six aisles) we will be back! After Thoughts for those New to Aldi...Don't forget to bring a quarter to rent your shopping cart (you'll get it back, don't worry) and grocery bags- another way that Aldi helps pass on the savings! I went back to Aldi since I hadn't been back since last summer. I was quickly disappointed that I couldn't even find a cart with a working, intact infant strap. I told my 16 month old to hold on tight! I did find a good variety of things to buy, which was nice. The man who rang us up was super nice too. I'm sure we will give it another shot, and hope for better infant straps. read more

I've not had much luck with their produce. Often, it's old and moldy. I have not tried their private label brands except for the Choceur Nuts and Raisins chocolate bar. The chocolate was surprisingly good. It's not as sweet as American chocolate. read more

This is the second time I went to get a sale item and it was not available. I have gone on the day the sale went into effect and still not available. This feels like a "bait and switch" business. I liked to shop at ALDI for produce and frozen foods until one day I met a really nasty cashier. As the only cashier there, she gave me bad attitude and acted as if she was the boss. The store manager was not around. I tried to find out who she is but all the ALDI's receipts I had showed "Carmen" as the cashier, evidently the cashier's name was not updated.
