My Aldi continues to go down hill, super filthy. Our general manager doesn't care about the store, his customers he doesn't acknowledge say hello, you ask him if they are out of potatoes he just ignores you and walks off. Maybe he should take his earbuds out of his ears so he could hear a customer trying to have a conversation with him. 3rd trip this week with the buggy cart wipe container's empty. Low on produce and I just left here at noon. Going to have to go to Target to finish my shopping. Wish we could get a new GM!!!!! read more

I don't have an Aldi close to my home, but I was going to be near one and saw the weekly ad and decided to stop in to buy a hyacinth plant for $4.49. Hey, it's Spring and Easter is just around the corner and nothing smells better than a potted hyacinth plant! After they are done blooming, I have good luck planting the bulb in my flower bed and they often re-bloom the following year or more! They had a great selection of potted hyacinths and tulips in various colors to choose from. I also found a fun Calico Critter bunny and refrigerator set for the grandkids to play with to go along with the critter house I already have. I know that you need to provide your own bags when shopping there or you can buy some. I like that they are environmentally conscious. Since I only bought 2 items, I didn't need a bag. The prices and selections that I glanced at were good. read more

Normally I love Aldi. I have been coming here for years. I went this evening and the guy who checked me out was very nice and helpful. However, as I was packing my things I hear a guy having a loud conversation with the black female cashier that was very political and hateful against Trump supporters. First of all, workers should NEVER be giving their political opinions at work, especially when there are in fact some of us who are republicans and do not want to hear our president being bashed by employees with other customers. I'm not sure how she could possibly think that would be ok. I love everything else about Aldi but they really need to start hiring some less ignorant people. read more

You'll be surprised when you walk in to see all the non-perishable goods still partially in boxes, placed on displays shelves. Aldi's also has many of its own special branded generic items along with brand names. Take a close look when you grab your item or you might end up with a brand you didn't plan to buy! There's sometimes excellent deals here, especially when there's a sale. It's possible to get produce half the price of regular groceries when it's on sale. As for regular items, prices are on par with other stores and not necessarily the least expensive. ALSO -- Bring your own bags because it's an extra cost to use theirs. read more

Prices are fair and selection is good. Reason for 1 star is the meat, this is like 4 time in last couple of months that meat is bad. Literally day after buying, i open it up so we can grill it and it makes me gag, smells sooo bad. Mainly ground beef or chicken wings. Whenever i bring it up to the Store, no solution is offered, no refund or replacement, its pretty much ignored. Always stoping here for fillers. When you have three sons always eating you enjoy a smaller grocery that's a quick in and out! Plenty of snacks from chips to fresh fruit. As well as all the essentials for throwing a meal together in 10 min and out in 5 is such a big value! This location is always organized and clean. It's also kept very well stocked! We have shopped Aldi for many years at this location and 2 others. We shop certain items: cereal, chips, condiments(especially Burman products) dairy, and some frozen foods. We do not buy fresh meats or many of the produce items. We have found these to be not to our liking. The produce pertains to cultural issues as my wife is Vietnamese and prefers produce from Asian and/or Latin stores. The fresh meats we found unreliable and since we shop elsewhere regularly its not an issue for us to pass on them. The reason for 4 stars even with the negative aspects is, clean well lite spacious isles, excellent prices, and the brands taste great at good prices. This store is the worst idea in the area. All the food is off brand, the selection and aisles are horrible and there is never more than one or two employees in the entire store. Once you go and check out at Aldi, you have to bag your own groceries and the cashier doesn't care about your items or their job and it really shows. They won't even talk to you. I actually feel that when I shop at Aldi that I'm treated less as a person and that I'm in a food pantry or Goodwill store. The customer experience is horrible. read more

I have shopped at Aldi's many times and had satisfactory dealings over and over again. Some how I got stuck with the cashier from "Hell". At the end, Him scanning my groceries, it looked like a pile of of ???( potatoes stacked on bread, can goods piled on frozen vegetables, just a mess. I had everything separated a box with the frozen vegetables, milk products, etc..., I was somewhat angry. He did not have to throw all the groceries into the cart and make a huge pile. I spent 138$ to have a cashier make a mound items which used to be my groceries. " IT IS JUST WRONG"!! Put the frozen to one side, the canned to another. and the potatoes and apples bag. to the back. It is not that complicated. To just throw them into a cart mixing them up reminded me of a thrift store. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Aldi - I am a sold-out convert. And since the remodel this summer, the Richardson location has only gotten better. I started shopping at Aldi for the prices. (Can't beat getting a week's groceries for a family of four at $65-80!) But beyond that, they've managed to remove every hassle I've hated about grocery shopping in the past. Because there's limited selection within products, shoppers move more quickly. (And really, how many different types of tomato sauce/Q-tips/canned corn do I really need to see?) Because of the quarter deposit system, carts are always in a singular location, ready to go. Because the cashiers aren't bagging groceries, the check-out lines move lightning fast. I'm sure there will always be a few specialty items that Aldi won't carry, but because I'm saving so much here, I don't mind splurging on an item or two at Whole Foods or the farmer's market. read more

i lov aldi it is a good store especially when trying to eat healthier on a budget. also i like that they give their cashiers seats instead of having then stand all day long. the only thing i would say is that there arent many cashiers so the lines are longer so plan ahead to visit at a reasonable time and avoid long lines read more

I went to the soft opening of the new ALDI Grocery store in Richardson today. The gave the media a walk-through yesterday. They officially open later this week on 4/22/10. Bring a quarter people. In order to get a cart you need to insert quarter into the slot in order to unlock it from storage. When you return the cart you get your quarter back. Simple and an easy way to cut costs and keep the parking lot free of runaway carts. Helps keep your car from getting dinged too. Plus, you get a little exercise if you have to take your groceries to your car and return it to the station. It's a win, win situation. Being brand spanking new the store was clean and pristine. The aisles are wide and the products are stacked in neat boxes. I did not see too many brand names as I walked through the store but did see a lot of European chocolates. So, naturally, I had to pick some of the chocolates and wafers. Why European you ask? Well, a friend of mine told me that she used to shop at ALDI when she lived in Paris. Nice. She lived in Paris for most of her life. I digress. The produce was fresh - naturally, it just opened, and they had a little of everything. some of the fruit and vegetables were prepackaged so you'd have to buy it by the pack. No need to search since they all looked pretty good. I guess this is to keep the fruit and veggies from getting handled too much. It didn't look like there was a rhyme or reason to the way that they organized the aisles though. I found different types of pasta in three different aisles. They gave me two free bags since this was my first time but apparently you have to pay for bags. It's a good thing I didn't go crazy in the store. I only went in to browse and see what they had to offer but ended up buying about $20 worth of groceries. My cart included cappuccino flavored wafer sticks, garlic hummus, mangos, diced pears in cherry jello, string cheese, jicama, steak seasoning with grinder, dry spaghetti noodles, condensed milk, pickles, green tea (orange, passion fruit & jasmine flavor), and European chocolate wafers. I did not buy any milk, meat or veggies since I wasn't planning on going home right after my visit. You should try ALDI if you're the type who likes to go in, get what you need and get out, don't mind that the products aren't all name brands and like low prices. read more

I was in the Richardson area this weekend and needed a few things so I decided to check out Aldi and get my essentials! All I needed was sun dried tomatoes and frozen spinach. After parking in the small lot I think to myself that I should just grab a cart in case I go on a shopping frenzy but I don't carry cash around so thus I have no change for the cart rental! Bummer. I walk the clean wide aisles and explore all these unknown packages I've never seen at my local Kroger and grab a few goodies that look appealing in both taste and price: A bag of fit foods yogurt raisins, a 4 pack of cinnamon applesauce, English muffins and a lb of frozen salmon. My total was a whopping $8. Why didn't I grab the things I needed you ask? Well that answer is quite simple; Aldi simply didn't carry them. This chain is all about basics and when I say basics I mean extremely limited everyday items. I don't think I'll be coming back to Aldi unless I happen to be in Richardson and craving those European wafers Kellie S. was talking about! read more

This is very no frills shopping, no pharmacy, no meat market, no produce department, etc. Stores are small, well lit, and clean with a very limited selection. The vast majority of stock is private label, with only the occasional national brand. There are only a handful of aisles, and no shelves, just product stacked on the floor or on pallets. I doubt I could do my weekly shopping here due to the extremely limited selection. Prices are dirt cheap, and I was surprised to find some rather tasty treats. They have Jaffa Cakes, super yummy cookies made of sponge cake, orange jam, and dark chocolate. I haven't found a box of Jaffa Cakes in Dallas in years. Aldi being German also carries a very delicious frozen strudel. It's bring your own bag, and as other have said you must place a deposit on the cart. I would probably be tempted to buy more food here because much of it comes from Germany and like most of Europe they have tighter controls on food additives. read more

As someone whO lives paycheck to paycheck this is definitely the kind of place I enjoy. With $20 I can buy enough meat for my husband and I to eat for a week. I have never gotten anything here I wasn't completely satisfied with. They have a limited amount of staff. It they are friendly and helpful. Aldi also seems to care about its employees because they give them chairs to sit in while ringing people up. As someone who worked as a cashier all through college I'm jealous. If you are looking for miracle whip and Borden this isn't where you will find it but they do have all the necessities but you may have to manother trip to another grocery store. I wanted to make a dessert that costs $10 for everything at tom thumb but here all the ingredients only cost $5. You won't be disappointed if you give it a try. read more

So I wanted to try out the grocery store Aldi to see if it saves money on groceries. Well... I bought about $80 worth plus had to buy bags and pay for my cart...ugh Anyway, just about everything I bought that wasn't the brand I would get at Kroger taste like absolutely trash. Even my son won't eat it and he doesn't know it's different brand. Like goldfish crackers.. He says they're gross. The cheese, fruit, oatmeal, noodles,chips...ugh! Just trash! Chips were stale, fruit was rotten.. One of the things I did find that was normal brand was pop tarts. They're the exact same as we usually buy. Get home and notice they're expired 3 month ago. So in the end I just wasted $80+..great! I'll never go back. read more

I'm becoming more of a fan each time. I started just buying the Italian sweet cream (dairy creamer). Then I tried napkins. Just like Bounty. Next the Boulder (store brand) paper towels. Just as good as Bounty. Now I get the raisin bran cereal. Superior to the name brands. Big flakes, plump raisins. Tried the 13 gallon scented garbage bags. Just great. So I went to this remodeled location because of the 5$ coupon. I must say it was a nice store. Bright. Well stocked. I'll be back. I now go to Aldi for basics. Since we are not big on buying a lot of meats or large quantities of veggies, I keep that for my central market shop. Dry goods & basics is Aldi. Already see a difference in my grocery bill. This particular Aldi store seems to be very responsive to customers' suggestions. Numerous times I have requested items such as organic eggs, Kerry Gold cheeses, European grass-fed cheeses and meats and have very soon seen them offered in this store. Now I have shopped their recent addition of organic produce at prices (not only the produce but all the above foods) lower than ANY distant specialty stores I normally drive to for shopping. I'll give it 3 stars because most of their prices are considerably cheaper. I was impressed with how inexpensive the produce was, however some of it had seen better days. The meat was a little sketchy so I left it alone. I wish I had read the other reviews first because I was very surprised to have to pay a quarter for a grocery basket! If you need just the basics this may be the place to go, but stick with your regular market for larger purchases. read more

There's very little not to like about Aldi. Most of their items are off-brand, but from my experience, their products are surprisingly good quality. This is where you shop to get the most out of your money - way cheaper than other grocery stores. Of course, the selection is not as large as other grocers, but they have the essentials. They have a efficient system going that helps them keep their prices low. Only the amount of staff needed. You sacrifice a quarter to get a shopping cart, and only get it back when you return the cart. Bring your own bag or pay 10 cents for one of theirs. My mom shops at this place and she does not speak English and this feminine African cashier guy keeps taking her money without giving her change back. So this time I go and he does the same thing, thinking I do not speak English, buddy I am well educated and have a BA. So I told him to give her the four dollars, obviously this kid know better than lie to me. Either he is super incompetent or a swindle. So for people that does not speak English, do not go to this Aldi on Belt Line, or at least check your receipt. read more
