    Vast veggie section
    Stephen W.

This is a fantastic store for all of your Chinese food needs. The vegetable section is enormous. There is also a meat and fish section with fresh fish. There are literally hundreds of different food items from China, from sauces to tea to frozen to boxed goods. There are snacks galore. I noticed that prices have gone up a bit, maybe due to Trump's tariffs on China? Prices are still pretty reasonable though. If you can't find what you are looking for here, the only other place to look is China. Ambiance is ok, what you would expect from a grocery store. Sometimes that fish smell is pretty strong but not on this most recent trip. Service is efficient though not especially friendly. Overall, this place is a gem if you are looking for Chinese food commodities.

This store has everything you could imagine! So many types of snacks! In the back, there's a large meat and seafood station! The produce is super fresh, with great options for fruit and vegetables. Lots of candy and chocolates. I could spend hours in this store. The aisles are packed yet organized. Aside from the seafood station, the place smelt great and was clean. The check out line was super efficient with no line! Carts are convenient, and you can take them out to your car in the parking lot.

Of all the Asian supermarkets, this is the one I frequent the most. A fabulous produce section of fresh and wide variety of vegetables not found elsewhere. Wonderful meat section with butchers fulfilling specific orders of specific cuts. Strong fishy smell as one would expect while walking quickly through their seafood section. Though narrow are the aisles, items needed to refill my cupboards and pantry are well displayed, stocked, categorized, and, easily found. As for their frozen section, I love their delightful variety of popsicles. Reasonable is their competitive pricing to other markets. Hard to find staff on floor, yet not always informative, friendly is the service here. CHEERS!

    Sesame mochi

I struck nostalgia gold at Good Fortune Supermarket the other day. I knew these sesame mochis weren't a figment of my imagination! All my childhood favorite jarred and canned small appetizers and condiments have been here this whole time! I found those glass jarred pickled cucumbers and fried vital wheat gluten snacks I grew up with and took for granted (BPA free glass cough cough)....and the weird but fascinating gross meats section is alive and well. Made in Taiwan seems to be doing well here (discretely lol).

$5.99/lb - the fish balls with cheese filling are the best!

I bought some yam noodles home. When I opened it, it's overwhelmingly stinky. I can smell it all over my kitchen even after an hour.

The things that are more expensive you truly feel like they are good quality and a decent value. They have a lot of produce that you wouldn't see anywhere else. The bakery is legit and has awesome cakes and breads. Snacks and dried goods imported from all over the world. They have a really nice selection of flowers that they'll beautifully wrap up for you. Plus the cafe has really good food. We always get pizza and it's great quality for a great price. They also have a playground for little ones. Shopping at Central Market is truly a one of a kind experience and I always leave feeling excited about the new and unique things they have. They frequently have special events and themes too. I remember a few years ago they did one on Portugal and had a bunch of imported Portuguese items and they made Portuguese bread and pastries in the bakery. It was amazing.

Once you walk in, it is kind of sensory overload. There is a "food court" right up front with several options. Hamburgers, tacos, pizza, sandwiches, sushi, gelato, and more. Plenty to choose from. I also went back to the bakery and checked out their assorted baked goods. I was underwhelmed. They looked phenomenal but they were average size, etc. But the prices were outrageous. More expensive that San Diego prices which kind of surprised me. I ended up getting a hamburger. The chef was very nice, friendly, made me laugh. He built me a fantastic bleu bonnet burger. It was tasty, flavorful, filling. It was cooked a little more than I would normally want, but still yummy. the Brioche Bun was good, but did fall apart a little bit. Maybe warming it on the grill had something to do with that. I went with a combo that included a drink cup for the help yourself drink station. The drink station had interesting flavors I have never seen before, and some old standards like coke, diet coke, sprite. The combo also included crinkle cut fries. They were warm, golden brown, delicious but they were a little overdone. Definitely needed some ketchup to help eat them. The staff at the checkout lines were smiling, laughing, friendly, and when they had to check out one of their coworkers, you could see the strong camaraderie amongst the employees. It looks like a fun place to work and the team works well together. I got dessert at another place in town. Enjoy the photos.

The employee who answered the phone said they would ask the manager. Well, the male manager came to the phone and said No!!! And then he hung up on me abruptly! Well let's just say...I'm driving to Central Market for my tortillas now. And it's worth it for the better customer service & quality!
