Tom Thumb is my usual go to for a quick pick up home. I do enjoy their bagels and soups, especially on a cold day. It's your typical Tom Thumb, and I don't usually interact with the workers, because I'm on a mission going in. I have seen the deli meat in pretty bad shape, mold. Really it's the ones closest to the deli counter. But overall it's your typical grocery store Tom Thumb. It's clean, bright, and it gets the job done. read more

I have 3 TT's within a mile of my house. I rotate depending on the time of day. This location has got to improve the butcher that works most evenings. First, take the ear bud out so you can hear what I'm ordering, second, at prime time for dinner I shouldn't have to wait for the butcher to come out from the back (15 minutes) and this isn't the first time. You might want to take down the "Free Delivery" with a $95 dollar subscription. read more

My Son and Daughter-in law placed an order for grocery delivery on October 3rd and the order was marked complete like it had been delivered but it was not. They found out the 3rd party used to deliver was door dash. They reported it and were told they would receive a refund within 7 days. They called me to see if I could help them get groceries since the refund would take several days. I placed another order that same evening and on my app it showed delivery completed but they again did not receive the order $287 worth. I immediately called and found out Uber was the 3rd party. They attempted to call the driver but they didn't answer. Tom Thumb support then issued me a refund which will take up to 7 days as well. They do live in an apartment community but the apartment number was listed on each order address. The order I placed I asked that they hand it off to them personally. Nobody seems to know who these groceries were delivered to both times. Finally made a Walmart grocery order and they received it with no problem. I did call the store directly and spoke to Alberto. He took down all of the information as well as our phone numbers for management to call us back when they came in this morning. We still have not heard back from anyone. So someone received close to $500 in groceries yesterday and it's a mystery as to who or where they ended up. Both Door dash and Uber had no photo of the delivery. In the future they will use Walmart when needing a grocery delivery. **UPDATE October 17th** The store declined my refund so now I have to escalate to get this resolved!!! read more

Oh how I wish this Tom Thumb was closer to my home!!!! It's so gorgeous, clean, well stocked & everything looks yummy! I picked up some cheddar jalapeño bread from the bakery & some tasty looking stuffed mushrooms! Both which we will be having for dinner tonight. And of course we added a 6 pack of wine to our cart with that fabulous 10% off. I will be driving a tad bit further just to shop here. Oh I also picked up some arugula to make my salad which is deliciousness! Here's my recipe: LES'S SALAD Ingredients: 1/4~Cup+2 TBSP Fresh Lemon Juice 2~Ripe Hass Avocados, cut into 1/2" dice 2~Pints Cherry or Grape Tomatoes, halved 1/2~Cup Red Onion, diced 1/4~Cup Olive Oil 2~tsp Creekside Seasoning, or to taste* 4-oz~Baby Arugula Instructions: Pour 1/4 cup of the lemon juice into a mixing bowl. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, peel them (or scoop them out with a spoon)& cut in 1/2" dice. Immediately add the avocados to the lemon juice & toss carefully. Add the cherry tomatoes & red onion & toss again. In a small glass measuring cup, whisk together the remaining 2 TBSP of lemon juice, 1/4 cup olive oil & 1 tsp Creekside Seasoning. This isn't my usual Tom Thumb, but I have stopped here on occasion to pick up some of my favorite items that I usually buy at my neighborhood TT store. Today I picked up some Lucerne cottage cheese, cut up watermelon from the Produce department and a delicious single layer strawberry cake from the bakery! I have had the other usual flavors - German chocolate, coconut or cookies and cream and they're all great, but I have never seen a strawberry cake like this before - it was delicious!!! When I first started going to Tom Thumb off Renner 3 years ago, I had no complaints. Slowly over time though, things got worse. Expired canned goods, bad milk, etc... but now it seems I buy something expired pretty much every time I go to this store. Sure I blame myself for not checking dates, I should know better... Tonight, however, was the last straw. Molded bread that was good through AUG 22 and it's the 31st, why is this still on your shelf? Disgusting!! read more

I live in this neighborhood but will go to Sprouts, Braums, Walmart and even HEB in Plano. All of which I consider better stores than TT. read more

This pharmacy has to be one of the worst in dfw. I recently moved my prescriptions here because the medication was cheaper however it's been the most awful customer service and practices. They are neither efficient nor organized. Even when you call ahead to confirm a pick up time, upon arrival the prescriptions are never ready. You are subject to wait for your most consistent, auto-refill and new meds alike. The staff isn't trained on how to properly respond to guests or operate well. This location has the potential to serve so many in the area but these kinds of experiences keep us from committing to making it our pharmacy of choice. I now prefer to pay more for my medications elsewhere than I do to wait 30+ minutes upon arrival in addition to the hours estimated each time. Time is money, time to care for self happen between work meetings...etc. and getting my meds here neither honors my time nor allows me to fit it in between life's other demands. Please improve, this community deserves better from their local pharmacy. read more

The main reason I go here is for the booze. I know that Sprouts and World market have a great selection and there are wines always on sell there. But for me, the price is always reasonable and at times I think cheaper then those other places. In addition, I live nearby so that is a plus! read more

Love this location always very clean as a grocery store should be and well stocked with regular and seasonal items. Flowers are always in great shape and a lot of selection which I appreciate cause I give flowers often. Deli is always clean and fresh looking and they will go out of there way to make you something fresh if you ask. Produce is very good quality as well as meat area. Bad customer service-when you have a customer face-to-face with you & the service rep takes a call, they should put the caller on hold & deal with the customer standing in front of them. Instead, although I had already started a conversation with the rep she took a call and I had to wait until she had listened to everything the caller had to say. Second, I purchased 4 body sponges which had a green tag for .37 cents; however after taking the rep over there the barcode was off by 1 number; & there were no more sponges. I should have been offered the sponges at the .37 cent price. I was refunded my $ with no offer. I believe the customer service rep was a manager. read more

Beware: this store has a faulty card reader. It skipped a step for me with the result that I got a bunch of undesired cash back. When I asked to have the mistake corrected, both cashier and manager asserted that the mistake was mine and could not be corrected. This despite the fact that I told them I didn't have cash in my account to cover the withdrawal. So now I must drive to my bank and deposit the unwanted cash. Moral of the story: in the future I will shop elsewhere. It shouldn't be that hard to give a refund. read more

Called to have 2 prescriptions refilled before the last refill date. Spoke to pharmacist she stated they would get then refilled. Went out of town came back & they have did not refill prescriptions nor did they call me to tell me they could not refill. Pharmacist stated they are too busy to provide decent & basic customer service. Because it is 3 days past the one year refill date i am now just SOL. Horrible service. I love the convenience of this store and the newly remodeled interior. This review is for the in-store Deli Sandwiches experience. What I liked: Vast selection of meats, cheeses and breads. Great taste.he lady that was making the sandwich was very sweet and polite. What needs serious work: The price of a sandwich combo was almost $7.03 which is not a value. The entire process of getting the combo was awkward. The deli staff has to multi-task so much that you feel like you are in the way. The distance from the deli to the seating area is not convenient at all. There were no cups or straws available for your drink. One napkin dispenser on the other side of the sandwich section. Honestly - it was like a rabbit hunt with the layout. When I told one of the staff they were out of diet coke - he pretty much barked at me "No diet coke!" I expect grocery stores to know how to hook up and have available all soft drinks at the dispenser. Or give me a cold canned one. Again - I felt like I was in the way and cheated. The tuna and swiss sandwich was delicious but good grief it was messy! More of a fork and knife sandwich. I had to ask for a fork. Utensils should be readily available. My family and I have patronized Tom Thumb for many years, so it saddens me that the chain seems to be going downhill. This particular Tom Thumb is mostly clean and I love the atmosphere. However, their customer service is mediocre at best. It seems they are perpetually understaffed, as I have wandered through the entire store searching for an item and could never find an employee to ask for help. Also, at peak times of day (like when I went after work today, around 6:30pm on a Friday), they have ONE check-out counter open. Pretty much all they use now is self check-out, and the computers stall every few seconds. When you have a cart full of groceries and people waiting in line behind you, this experience is particularly frustrating and stressful. Not to mention completely unnecessary. I've found that the Kroger at 190 and Shiloh has much better service, a wider variety of products, and fresher produce. Plus, they do not rely on self check-out. I plan to stop providing my own customer service at Tom Thumb and start shopping at Kroger. read more

Lately I have found this place to be going a bit downhill. After moving to this neighborhood a year ago we have conveniently shopped at this location now when needed. It serves our needs, the people are nice, the store is clean, and the prices are usually about fair (plus gas points). The last 2 trips we have made to the store though have both resulted in trips to customer service. The store recently underwent a remodeling and had a lot of markdown items 50% off. On our last visit we stocked up on a lot of these items. I noticed as the cashier would ring up certain items the proper deduction was not being taken off and even in some cases I was being double charged for said item. I proceeded to point this out to the cashier every time but she told me that they were in fact ringing up correctly and after the transaction was finished the proper deductions would be taken off. After she scanned our last item I told her once again the final price was way too high and at this point she informed me I would have to take it to customer service. Okay fine. We end up receiving $26 back at customer service after going thru the receipt with the lady there, that is not a small overcharge however after returning home we look at our receipt more closely and discovered there was another $10 overcharged so we again have to go back and get our money. April at customer service was very helpful and finally got everything taking care of. Fast forward to today. I head up to Tom Thumb to get groceries and I have a $10 off $50 or more purchase coupon. After having my products ring up for $82 I handed the cashier my $10 coupon and swipe my debit card as he HOLDS my coupon he closes out the transaction and says "whoops I'm sorry I forgot to scan this I'll need you to take this to customer service". Great another trip to customer service. I arrived there and informed a lady what took place to which she replies "my gosh this is about the 10th time today"! She hands me $10 apologizes and then she was off to have a chat with her cashier. They need to fix some of these issues as remodeling the store just won't be enough. read more

I can't say I like the grocery - but the Pharmacy is great. The staff is very helpful and just generally - quite pleasant. When issues with my insurance have come up - the staff worked with me to correct any and all problems that arose to make sure I got the best deal. When new prescriptions were filled here, the pharmacist themselves actually came to talk to me to make sure I understood everything I needed to know about the new additions. Highly recommend these guys - really know their stuff! read more

This review is for the pharmacy. A separate review for the store may come later. After moving to Richardson, we were looking for our new pharmacy. Moving from Lake Highlands and our home Kroger pharmacy, we were needing extended hours, close to home, and friendly staff. Today, we went to pick up our first set of prescriptions and due to the New Year, our deductible was re-set. One script was quoted at $206, but we said go ahead since we'd have to pay it anyway. They'd have it ready in 15 minutes. When we returned, that prescription was $0. When I mentioned that the price quoted was $206, the pharmacy manager came over to explain that he had a manufacturer's coupon to cover the cost, yet we would still get full deductible credit for the RX. WHAT? That is AWESOME! Open until 9pm M-F, til 7 on Saturday, and 6 on Sunday. Aside from a 24 hour pharmacy which is not anywhere near us, these hours work great for us. Drive Thru service. Didn't notice it at first, so that will be a bonus. 3 minutes from home. On a nice day, it will be a bicycle ride away. They are a preferred pharmacy on our insurance, so we get a discount on meds while working to meet our deductible. Nice touch. Service? They had 6 people working in there and were very professional and friendly...and aware. We will definitely be back! read more

The bakery is cranking it out at this Tom Thumb! The brownies are so darn good. The produce is pretty fresh - fairly vibrant. You have the option to get your meat or seafood from the butcher person too. The deli needs to take a lesson from the bakery people. Clean, organized...nice staff. read more

The quality of the produce and checkers has gone way down hill in the past year. I often throw away half of an onion, broccoli is rubbery and wilted, herbs wilted, garlic is sprouted, and on and on. Employee turn over must be a huge issue since every time I go in there I get a different checker that seems to be on their first or second day. I'm going to central market for my produce now since it is basically the same price and much better. Central market also has better beer prices and way nicer deli offerings. I may continue to shop at Tom Thumb for somethings, but not much. read more

The store layout was a little weird compared to other Tomb Thumbs. Otherwise, though, the food was fresh and they had everything I was looking for. Per usual with Tomb Thumb you pay for quality. I have shopped at the Custer/Renner location in Richardson, Texas for approximately 10 years. While it has had its ups and downs the convenience of a neighborhood store has out-weighted any negative experience until now. Most ot the time I shop in the day and have encountered Miss Patty whom I believe is one of the managers. I stopped greeting her a long time ago because she often does not respond. I just assumed that she is unhappy with her job and let it roll off my back. Most of the people at that store are very nice. However, I recently was in the store and overheard her and another employee - I believe his name is Dod - discussing how happy they were that an employee had been fired. I happened to be around to corner, and I know they did not see me there. The person they were discussing is an older employee with a handicap whom I have dealt with a few times. The lady's name is Sherra or Sherri, I forget which. Miss Sherra was always friendly and helpful when I went later at night. She always remembered people and was especially helpful at the quick self check out. I usually had to make eye contact with the daily employees when needing help, but Miss Sherra would come over and help before you even had time to look over. She watched everything that was going on and was eager to help. Also I really appreciated how she help my elderly father when he was in the store. She was always kind and patient and never patronizing. If these are the kind of employees that are fired and the gossipy, rude employees are valued, then I will choose another store in the future. read more

I have to comment about the professional treatment I have recieved from Sassan, the pharmacist. He very knowledgeable and has given me very valuable information about my medication. There were some visits where he could see I was not well. He came to me and spoke to me, and gave me advice. On several occasions I had some challenges with medical insurance. He made an effort to resolve then. Oscar who is one of the technicians has been very resourceful, and helped me with billing issues. He knows the computer system very well and performed magic to help me. I can definitely recommend this pharmacy. I moved away from Richardson a few months ago, but I still drive 45 minutes past at least 15 pharmacies to go here for the caring service. read more

This location is convenient as in I can get to it during rush hour easily. It is always clean. The prices could be better, and they do not have a lot of variety on some products. I can deal with those things. My main issue is that they rely too much on the self checkouts, and will only have 1-2 regular aisles open. read more

I guess because of the convenience. stopped in to buy one item Sunday afternoon, the lines at the open registers were 5 deep at the self check outs there was a spill and the managers were trying to figure out who was going to clean and not attending to the customers in line. I have been going to this Tom Thumb Pharmacy for 8 years! My child is on ADHD medication and it's always in stock. The last time I got a prescription filled it turned out that instead of giving me 60 (takes 2 pills a day) they shorted me and only gave us 30. This is a controlled substance and there are a lot of rules around how it can be filled, dispensed etc. When I called the Pharmacy to inquire the woman Pharmacist on duty on Friday, June 15th, was very helpful and apologetic She told me to come through the drive thru to pick up the pills. I went later that day and the male pharmacist was accusatory and rude! Like I had made the mistake. He wanted me to tell him the story about HOW this happened! ME? You guys made the mistake not me! He was condescending and acted like somehow I was not being truthful. We are a family of 5 with about 10 prescriptions a month...we will be transferring them all to Target. I have a choice and choose NOT to be treated like that! read more

We dropped by the pharmacy to get our annual flu shots. The ads kept saying "just come by--no appointments". The clerk at the cash register was most courteous and helpful with the paper work. We were told to go to the waiting room and complete the paper work which we did. There the pharmacist was giving flu shots to other walk-ins. We went back to the counter and completed our paper work and was told that we needed to go back to the waiting room and wait. Shortly there after the counter clerk came in and said they were very busy and that we would have to wait 20 minutes for a flu shot. We had just witnessed the other customers getting the flu shot and know it was taking only a minute or two per customer. We never the less waited and 13 minutes (yes we were on the clock) the pharmacist appeared and apologized by telling up they were one employee short and thus the delay. It is the responsibility of the business to have employees necessary to carry out the work NOT the customer. It took about two minutes for both of us to get the shot. I am debating if I will ever go back to this pharmacy or not. I am certain I will probably let this experience slide over the next year and will probably be back, that is unless I read my review I am posting today. read more

I am a 20+ year resident of Canyon Creek and have been shopping this store since it was located on Lookout I am not sure if the staff is trying to "encourage" me to change pharmacies but if that is the goal they are very close to achieving it.. Fortunately, I don't have any chronic health issues so I only have acute need prescriptions but I feel for people who do. I have recently been in this pharmacy 3 times since my wife had surgery and there is always an issue eg "we don't have in stock and you don't understand the special restrictions of the wholesaler". I have been a retail pharmacist for 32 years and I do understand. "you said you were not coming back today so your prescription is not ready. you will have to go to the back of the line". Originally, I said I would come back later and it was supposed to be ready in an hour. this was 2.5 hrs later. So far, I haven't seen the "caring staff" or "professional service" referred to in other reviews. I am very disappointed otherwise I would not be writing this review. read more
