I feel really bad to write a bad review for the market when it's the cafe I'm upset about. I cannot believe the lady behind the counter thinks she can charge almost $70 for two to-go packages of the worst baklava and Sam tatlısı I have ever had in my life. How dare her to do that. We will happily pay for something if it's good but the baklava was so dry and cold. The Sam tatlısı was cold and dry and crumbly. I would not recommend spending your money here at all. Please feel free to support the actually market but avoid this cafe at all costs. Horizon market should not host this cafe. I am astounded by the audacity of that woman to ring up $70 worth of crap knowing that the customer is Turkish and knows good baklava. I am just mad at ourselves for not taking our money to a place we trust. read more

The İskender was flavorful and reminded me of the rich taste of kavurma. During my last visit, I tried the Edirne Köfte, which was equally delicious. The service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere, located next to the Horizon Market store, added to the overall experience. I will definitely be returning more frequently, especially to try their breakfast offerings like simit, börek, and more. We got to go orders for this kitchen twice. You can clearly see hygiene means nothing to their staff. No use of gloves when they were cutting breads, the chef was using end of a spatula to pick some tomato paste from a jar and then he licked it. Yes, he literally licked the paste. These were nothing. Both times my wife and I got severely food poisoned. Strongly recommend not to put your health on the line. We got a horrible experience over two visits in a course of three months or so. read more

This small market is so awesome! The employees are always helpful and friendly. The meat selection is always fresh, and my kids are always happy! Don't sleep on the cheap and delicious snacks and sweets (mostly from Turkey and Germany). Fresh bread and sweets are in the back! This is my new weekly visit for meat because it's always fresh, and most importantly, local. The prices of the meat are only slightly more than the big guys, and 100% worth it for the quality upgrade. I, myself am a vegetarian (my kids aren't), but it's nice to help out local farmers and provide my kids with quality meat. read more

If you want to immerse in middle eastern food and explore the authentic taste look no further. This market is amazing! Has everything I crave from my travels as youth. And the baklava is simply sinful. When I left Brooklyn several years ago, I gave up on the oriental market that was located on Coney Island Ave and Ave H. But this one here has even more goods to offer! I even found my favorite Turkish apple tea that I remember drinking in Antalia, Turkey while visiting friends many years ago. Being folks who frequently cook at home, we enjoy stocking up the fresh baked flat breads, cheeses, pastry leaves, olives, tea, bulgur, semolina, rice, and their huge selection of nuts + delights (i.e. I love their rose pistachio lokum - I think the brand is Rumi's Love... good stuff!). This is a nice, clean, well organized little market with a fantastic selection of Turkish products. Excellent meat market. Fresh veg selection is smallish, but good options. I love that I can get a big full bunch of herbs, including dill, for a couple of bucks. We always stock up on pepper paste, rice, cheese, Turkish sausage, sunflower seeds, and spices. Love this little store. I pass at least 5 other big box grocery stores to go to this one. read more

I don't grocery shop here. But I just had to commend on the candy that you can get here. It is so very delicious. I try and not go very often because I can eat a bunch of that candy in one sitting. They are the Turkish Delights. They have a huge assortment of them. They also have nuggets. OMG. Have the pistachio ones. They are heavenly. The pastry section is good too. And I think I remember the tea section be large. Go get some candy. You only live once. Enjoy! read more

Love this place. It is very well organized, well-stocked, spotless, and the quality products they choose to keep in stock are treated with care. The meat section has very high quality halal lamb and beef. Other halal places would happily charge 50% more and give you Select grade, while the beef here looks more like Choice. Their bakery serves Turkish baked goods that are made fresh, along with some imported snacks like Turkish Delights. This is a really good place to learn about Turkish cuisine and culture as the staff are really friendly, knowledgable. I only stumbled upon this place while tagging along with a friend that wanted halal, and learned a lot. I'd say the only thing I consider them lacking in is the cold drinks selection. I'm not going to ding it as the selection is still serviceable and has options that are exotic in the US. Maybe it's just a cultural difference from Turkey, like how on the flip side Japanese stores like Mitsuwa seem to have hundreds of drink varieties. Overall, highly highly recommended. If you're anywhere near the area, it's worth being your grocery place if you're halal, and worth exploring Turkish cuisine if you're even remotely interested in food. read more

The worst lamb shish kebab meat ever. We ended up throwing the in chewable meat to trash. On top of that it was very pricey per pound. Very disappointed. read more

Amazing fresh produce- the fruit!! The melons we got were so sweet i had to stop myself from eating too much... The cucumbers were awesome- great fresh crispy flavor. The prices are VERY reasonable way less than Kroger or many others. Only the imported cheeses and jams are a bit higher but so is the quality. The baked goods were also very fresh. We bought lavash bread and semit and the kids loved them!!! We live far but we try to go weekly now bc of the quality. Lots of Turkish and Middle Eastern foods; it is a fun place to buy ethnic foods from. read more

I wandered into this wonderful grocery store while waiting for a CVS prescription to fill. What a pleasant surprise! I give it 5 stars for the amazing meat counter, the great bakery, and the incredibly friendly staff. First, the meat counter: I was shocked at how reasonable the prices are. The meat is gorgeous and obviously very high quality. The friendly butcher told me proudly about the local meats and how carefully they select. He also gave me tips on how to cook the beautiful leg of lamb I purchased. Second, the bakery: fresh breads, fresh baklava, wonderful looking sweets! These are items you would be proud to bring to a party or serve to guests. Third, the staff: I was given a friendly greeting as soon as I walked in. I mentioned at checkout that it was my first time in the store, and the checkout lady rushed to get me some free fresh bread to have with the lamb. It was still warm! While the selection is not large enough to be our every day grocery store, I highly recommend it for the meat counter. You pay about the same as Walmart but get significantly higher quality. It's so well worth it. Also, they have great specialty products such as real churned butter, fresh figs and other special product all at reasonable prices. read more

This was a nice place. I would shop the bakery and meat counter. The produce is small, but they have things like fresh unhulled almonds. They have halloumi (sp?)cheese and of course Turkish groceries....which are foreign to me. The meat counter shines and is very fresh. The bakery is amazing. The best price on ground lamb in town. The beef was all halal and beautiful, which is nice because you don't pay for the blood weight. read more

This is a superb market! I am vegan and I love their selection of beans. They also have a very nice herb & tea section, lots of salt free herbal mixes too. They have several varieties of dates that I had never seen as well. The store is perfectly ordered and clean! If you eat meat they have very nice clean meat and cheap soup bones that look nice. We bought several pounds of Turkish delight and it is delicious! This is one of my new favorite stores. read more

Stopped by over the weekend.. seems to be a carbon copy of other markets in the area. I would've liked to see some originality. Seemed organized but highly overpriced in comparison to other stores. The bread was overhyped and bland in my opinion, and I've heard the same thing from many of my friends. Service was ok but slightly awkward. Best quality halal meat I could find in the area. Their steaks are far better than other stores here. They have a good selection of produce that is also nice quality. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the store is kept clean and organised all the time. If I was Turkish I would have given them 5 Stars. Very clean but not much selection for American cuisine. It's close to home though so if I need produce or meats then I'll go back. They need to turn the heat up though, it was so cold I couldn't get out of there quick enough! I really hope they make it though. We need more small business around here! read more
