Best sushi in Riverdale! My husband and I have been enjoying the sushi at Tokyo House for a few years now. Our standard order is shrimp tempura roll, shumai, edamame, octopus sushi and shrimp sushi. And we have it every week, sometimes 2 or 3 times per week. That's how great it is. We have also enjoyed the curry chicken and katsu too. Seriously you can't go wrong here. read more

Love this place! A total hidden gem in Riverdale. They use a super thin layer of rice, which I love. The place is pretty small and the outside appearance makes it look almost like a Chinese food takeout place (I think it's right next to one), which I'll admit made me skip by it for months. I ordered for delivery. They were already in the 1st flr of the building (which was a diff. office). I specifically said that our office was on the 2nd flr. They called me and they asked me to come down so i did... But i saw the delivery truck leaving already. So i called tokyo house asking what happened. They just said to refund my money coz they will not come back to deliver my food. How rude was that! I was soo disappointed with their service. i hope this wont happen to their other customers... I usually get delivery which is always fast and they will even deliver hot sake, which is great for me because I can't eat sushi without it! But if you want to order sake be sure to call with your order, you can't get it through online ordering. This is a solid, good restaurant. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because the ambience isn't all that great. Kind of brightly lit and boring. Im one of those people who appreciate little fountains and statues so it feels like I'm in a Japanese garden, but if you don't care about those things then this place is great. I rated 4 stars as "yelp" doesn't allow you to rate Food, Service, Ambience etc. The food was very good and tasted fresh & flavorful, the restaurant itself has been in this location for quite some time, which alone says something. But, you're better off ordering out because the service is so slow. It's a small place with 8-10 2-tops (max). We dined here and were the only table in the restaurant, but still waited 10-15 minutes for our check to be picked up and paid with 2 servers on. I would definitely eat the food again, but most likely not return to dine in. read more

We usually NEVER go eat here but we order at least once a week. The food is delish, the delivery is quick and the customer service is superb. They keep our credit card and info on file so all we have to do is give them our phone number, our order and it's done. A few years ago they had to close down because a car drove into their restaurant and they were courteous enough to call us once they got their restaurant running. We missed them terribly. I love the lunch special chicken teriyaki. The chicken is set on top of a bed of steamed veggies with sprouts. It's a nice flavor of salty and sweet. The chicken always tastes like it is freshly prepared and is very juicy and tender. read more

If I had a complaint, it would be that the space is your typical cookie cutter lo-fi restaurant vibe- it's clean, but doesn't have a lot of character. Very good sushi at a decent price in the Bronx. We tried a variety of the chef's specials and they were all pretty well conceived and we'll executed. The presentation could be better. The difference between a good sushi place and a great sushi place is how they use their sauces. Tokyo house has really good sauces but they are either too stingy with them or too liberal with them. I would prefer a consistent artistic drizzle than a little container on the side or big glob sitting at the bottom of all the sushi. If they could come up with some different sauces and work on better garnish this could easily become one of the best sushi places around. Service was decent and like the sauce was either one top of us all the time or completely absent. But they were always friendly and courteous. Not much of an ambiance or environment. Pretty bare bones. Go hear for good cheap sushi not for all the bells and whistles. read more

This is the place to go to if there is no other sushi restaurant around. I've been going here for at least 8 years and I go back thinking that they would get better or at least stay consistent with their food. They do have the best ginger dressing as well as miso soup, however they fail to keep consistent with how they make their rolls, I bought the spicy tuna roll a few days ago and it was crunchy but a stale crunch. One time I dined in their and saw a roach crawling on the wall, but still went back because I use to love their spicy tuna, they seem to be getting worst every time I go back. Our favorite Japanese restaurant in the Bronx! Consistently good food whether we eat in or take out. Husband and I love the Bento boxes, shrimp tempura and sushi. Their lunch specials are always a good deal...you get a lot of food for the money. Food arrives pretty quickly when we order for home delivery, and they take the time to separate hot and cold foods which is really appreciated! Staff is friendly and very efficient too. They have a parking lot that is convenient and even though it can get full pretty fast, spaces open up quickly. Totally worth a visit! read more
