I recently had the pleasure of ordering take out at this local restaurant. The moment I stepped inside I was greeted by the friendly staff. I ordered 3 small portions of the bone-in signature crispy, bone-in Tokyo spicy, and a boneless garlic soy. Each small wing combo comes with 6 wings, fries, and a soda for $15. They also had other options besides soda like lemon green tea or strawberry lemonade that you can select. I liked how they had a sauce station with a variety of sauces like soy garlic, teriyaki, spicy mayo, ranch, honey mustard, and etc. I thought the chicken itself was tender and juicy. The batter had a nice golden-brown crispy coating that enveloped the chicken. I enjoyed all three flavors but my favorite was the Tokyo spicy but the garlic soy is a close second. I would recommend trying those over the conventional sodas. Service: the cashier and manager (?) were both nice and attentive to our questions. They were offering a small night light (see pic) for checking in on Yelp. You order your food at a kiosk or through a cashier. The drinks and their various sauces are self-serve. First time here and was craving some fried chicken. My friends had been here before so they said the best thing to do is order ahead of time and then sit down and eat. The place was quiet and very clean which was nice. My friends had said that they're wings were huge so I was very excited to try. The chicken is made to order so it takes about 20 minutes to cook. The packaging for the food was super cute and the chicken came out fresh. I was disappointed though because the wings were much much smaller then what my friends had told me. Maybe they got a different batch or new distributor? I got 6 wings and it comes on top of a small bed of fries. There is a sauce bar so u can get ur sauces on the side which I recommend! The chicken was super crunchy and the fries were decent. I liked the sauces at the bar because there were about 8-9 so u have a variety to choose from. Overall I personally wouldn't come back because of the price of the chicken for what you get. It's within walking distance to boba shops and other stores downtown, and it's definitely some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. For starters, even though this place may appear to be a fast food place, the chicken is freshly fried when you place the order. This means the food usually takes a while to come out, and from my experience of having 2 orders, about 20 minutes. Although the price may be a bit high for japanese fried chicken and the overall decor, don't be fooled! The batter was so delicious, and the chicken just tasted fresher. Having another popular Japanese fried chicken place, I can definitely say this is by far one of the best places in the LA area. It comes with some steamed cabbage/veggie mix, pickled radish, half a hard boiled egg, steamed rice and a potsticker. I love pickled anything and the pickled radish was my favorite thing in the bento other than the chicken itself. There are a lot of sauce options for dipping as well: sriracha, ranch, I think a katsu sauce, and a soy sauce based one as well. There are others but some of the labels had fallen off. I first heard about this place from my friend who works across the street from the restaurant. She would post IG stories of the food and drinks, and they looked SO delicious. Today, I was walking my dog and stumbled upon a Tokyo Chick cart outside with free iced tea and lemonade. That was so nice of them to do that so I decided to walk to their restaurant and give it a shot. They are a new restaurant that just opened recently. I got the signature boneless chicken so I can dip it in 3 different sauces: ranch, garlic soy, and ninja teriyaki. The chicken was nice and warm and all 3 sauces that I got were perfect. The cute little box also came with French fries. I also got their chicken fried rice. There is definitely enough for another person or leftovers. Came during their grand opening for their 50% off and I originally wanted the 3 piece drumsticks but the worker told me that it would take 25-30 minutes but I was on a time crunch so I opted for the wings bento box instead and it took 50 min! There was people who ordered 10-15 min after me & got their food before I did. Could've told me the actual wait time so I could've got what I wanted if I was going to end up waiting anyways or go somewhere else to eat. Service wasn't that great either, when I went to check up on my order the first time, the girls just looked at me for a few seconds looking confused & then told me they were working on it. I checked again 10 min later and this older gentleman, I'm assuming is the owner started asking around and told them to make it asap. He was super nice. If I didn't ask I'd probably wait for another 20 min or so lol. They did compensate me for the wait but I still don't think I would go back because it's also pricey for the amount of food they give (the bento boxes). The food was okay, the chicken was half soggy and half crispy because half of the chicken was drenched in sauce & the rice was a bit undercooked. The diakon pickles were fine and a nice contrast to all the fried food but they definitely have that diakon flavor so if you're not a fan you can probably ask to substitute it. Tokyo Chick has gotten even better since we came during their grand opening! Got their 6 piece signature crispy wings (if you don't order a combo, it's $2 less than the combo price). The sizes of their wings are quite large so a 6 piece is definitely enough to feed a hungry person. The chicken came out hot and crispy--the only way I can describe the batter is kind of like KFC extra crispy chicken with lots of grooves and indents but this is actually super crunchy. The seasoning was perfect this time and not too salty, so you can pair it with sauces from their self-serve sauce bar next to the drinks (with self-serve pickled daikon radish too). The chicken itself is very juicy and hot so be careful while eating! The prices are quite affordable and reasonable, and they do special discounts/promos quite often. With the cutest mascot (Tochi the chicken) decorating the walls and outside along with their nice service, I think Tokyo Chick is a very unique local gem for fried chicken. After trying this place once from a Yelp event, I wanted to come back as a patron. I ordered takeout dinner for my spouse and I. We both loved the bento meals, as a healthy mix of delicious fried chicken alongside with veggies and dumplings. It comes with a soda on the side, too. The value of the bento is the well-rounded meal, packaged beautifully. The chicken seems to be fried fresh to order. This was important to me, because my first bite, even after driving 10 mins home, was hot--as fried chicken should be. I'm not sure how they manage, but the chicken stays crispy after the drive home. The fried chicken can come with sauce mixed, and the store offers sides of their sauces you can package yourself. The food itself is delicious, which makes it worthy of a visit. However, as an added perk, the store is pretty cute! There are hand drawn pictures of their yellow chick mascot alongside the walls. I so appreciate the personality of this local shop! The chicken was delicious! 2 drumsticks doesn't seem like much but as a whole meal I was full The one gyoza was random and I wish there was more because it was pretty good The marinated veggies are really good to go with the chicken And usually I'm not a fan of pickled radish (most times they're too sour) but Tokyo chicken is nice and light keeping it fresh The staff was also very friendly and the whole place looked really clean and new! What started in a minor annoyance ultimately turned into a broken tooth.
