This experience was... interesting to say the least. We decided to eat here because they said there was sushi and when we got to the restaurant, there was no sushi on the menu. So we decided to order off their plate menu that had different proteins with a side of pita bread and various salads. There were different prices on the proteins and when we asked the waitress what the different prices meant, she didn't know. My husband ordered chicken thighs from the proteins and I ordered the schnitzel. She gave me the options of different sides and when my husband asked if he also got the sides, she had to go back and asked because she didn't know. There was a bit of a language barrier, so we were trying to be very patient with her. But she came back and said we can't do the chicken thighs. By this point we were super hungry so we said we were okay with an alternative. From the photos on yelp, it looked like we got a completely different order. They took all the sides and made it into a bahn mi type sandwich. Which if I would've known that, I would've ordered something different. The food was extremely overpriced for the food we received and the service was horrible. I would not come back and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone read more

The food is incredibly delicious, the restaurant is clean and has a great atmosphere and the service is friendly and welcoming. They make you feel like mishpacha as soon as you walk in the door! I've eaten a couple meals at this restaurant and both times the food was great. Staff were friendly and checked on our table often. One time we were there the owner was walking from table-to-table to thank everyone for coming and collect feedback. She was very friendly and handed out fortune cookies to the kids that came. We had the orange chicken, dumplings (steamed), Mongolian beef, and kung pao chicken. The veggies were fresh and single or extra-meat portions were great. The flavor was spot on, the food was seasoned well and, if you request it spicy, had enough of a kick. The booths, tables, and restrooms were clean each time we went. The booths were comfortable and offered a quiet space to chat while you ate. If you're in Dallas I recommend you give it a try! read more

Why do these people never answer the phone? I've come across 2 or 3 different numbers for Tokyo Bar and it's a 50/50 coin toss whether they answer the phone. The website phone number and number for them on Google are different. Neither one is answered most of the time. I'm calling during their posted working hours, according to Google. Lately, their website also pops up a virus warning, for some reason. Haven't been able to see their online menu for weeks. The rare times I've been able to order on the phone, the food is very good. The food is a thousand times better than when they open. But now they have a chef who knows how to make Chinese food. For a kosher restaurant, the portion sizes are decent. The biggest tractor I have for the restaurant is that food is not served to the table at one time they keep bringing out different dishes so people aren't sharing. You know either you wait and your cold. Your food becomes cold while the others are getting hot food that is too reddish brassy for me. Great food when we got it 2 hours later!! They ignored us for hours, made excuses about a large party in front of us. Did not bring forks and seemed surprised when we asked for them. Literally asked if we were still waiting for anything when we had been served 3 entrees out of the 10 we had ordered. Did not offer drinks ( which we had ordered) or anything else. I was absolutely blown away by how good this restaurant was. To all my friends who keep Kosher, do NOT sleep on this place. It's seemingly in the middle of nowhere in a strip mall, but we'll worth the drive. We were in town for a conference and had one free evening to go out and eat. My coworkers and I settled on driving here because we have some members of the team who needed a Kosher meal. I was shocked it isn't on Yelp. We walked in fairly late, but the staff quickly seated our large party and was quick to take our order. They answered our questions and helped us choose the best meal. We originally just wanted some sushi, but we're delighted they had so many options. My friend and I went with the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls. Both were perfect. They had great flavor, just enough sauce, and the fish tasted fresh. Highly recommend anything on their sushi menu. Again, I was blown away by the Chinese menu, too. So many amazing options and everything could have satisfied me. I'm just sad I only had room to try one or two items and couldn't return to eat more. We did the beef Mongolian and I swear my taste buds were in heaven. I'm drooling just thinking about the meal now. The beef was fried to perfection, but not dry. The sauce went so well with it and I am also glad we got the fried rice rather than the white rice. Both were excellent, but I loved how the fried rice didn't have too much soy sauce and I was able to use it to soak the rest of my beef's sauce. Excellent food, we ordered the Caribbean Roll and the Moo Goo chicken with egg drop soup and edamame. The best was the soup which was thick and smooth with plenty of egg whites. The edamame was topped with extra large salt flakes. The chicken and sushi were filling but not bloating. I wasn't able to finish my plate since they give you a very healthy portion of rice. The service was quick and the food was fast coming out of the kitchen- excellent quality. The ambiance was quiet and while it is located in a strip mall, I would expect and did receive the quality of a stand alone store front. Do not be discouraged if on the fence, we asked and it sounds like they have been open almost a full year and it will continue to get better. read more
