My friend took me to this hole-in-the-wall kosher Mediterranean restaurant for lunch, and I'm so glad we visited! It was pretty busy when we visited on a weekday. People were coming in and out to pick up catering and to-go orders, and several parties were dining in. What we got: - Perrier sparkling water - falafel hummus: The hummus here is creamy and quite delicious, so I definitely recommend! The falafels are pretty small, but packed full of ground chickpea and sprinkled with paprika. Great with the thick pita! - meat cigars: thinly fried "cigars" filled with ground meat. Served with tahini sauce, a great appetizer to start your meal and share! - lamb tagine: lamb stew meat with two sides - we chose rice and Israeli salad. The meat is well-cooked so that it is soft and juicy. Lots of flavor in every bite. Israeli salad of cucumber and tomato helped add some variety to the palate between the bites of meat. It's a large portion size; definitely good to share between two people. Overall, service was friendly and efficient. There is ample parking space in front of the restaurant. My experience here was not very good. The ambiance was cold and not welcoming. Our food was cold and when I was paying my bill, the lady at the register was on her phone first of all checking her social media not paying attention to anyone but herself and then suddenly realizing I was standing up by the register to pay my bill. When I got my receipt the lady asked me "about leaving a tip." I've been at this restaurant many times and no one ever has asked me about the tip. I should have never been asked about my tip. This is rude and unacceptable. I am beyond hurt and probably will not return to this restaurant. This should be addressed. read more

I finally got to try the food and I really enjoyed the Israeli salad, schnitzel, onion rings, grilled chicken skewers, hummus and falafels. The restaurant had all tables full around 7pm and you can seat yourself. The cashier wasn't the most friendly but the food was two thumbs up. This seems to be a family owned authentically kosher restaurant. They are closed on Saturday and do not take orders maybe 15 mins before close (8:30). This is Dallas' premier Kosher restaurant, without having to go to Richardson where there are many more Kosher establishments to choose from. This place used to be in South Florida years ago but they packed up and moved to Dallas. The menu is considered Israeli style cuisine, but don't come here expecting Eztel Itzik of Aventura, FL. The food and table culture leans toward more American/European style rather than Israeli like Etzel Itzik, and the price points are higher here. But despite this, it's still a good place to eat as the food was prepared well and the service is as friendly as it can get, with the joyful Israeli manager, Droit, being around to make sure that everyone is happy. The things to get here, according to their recommendations, are the kabobs (more like kafta), pargiot (seasoned chicken thighs), and schnitzel. I didn't try the schnitzel but I tried the pargiot and kabob half-and-half combo. The pargiot was one of the best I have had, and the kabob was okay, a little on the salty side. The large individual combo plate was a little pricey, at $16, but it was accompanied by basmati rice and Israeli salad (chopped tomato and cucumber salad). My dining companion wanted to be adventurous and he tried the Moroccan salmon special on the menu. But he conceded that the regular grilled salmon was better. Either way, he still loves the place, mostly because of the schnitzel (he comes almost weekly just for it and swears by it). I also was able to ask for Israeli limonana, which is mint-infused lemonade. That was a plus even though I'm used to see the mint chopped up and mixed into the lemonade. Aderet's version did not have chopped up mint. For $2, it was good. And while I was here, there was always people. It seems to be a popular place and I can only see this place becoming even more popular soon, once they open their Kosher dairy restaurant next door (which will be more of a pizzeria and deli). read more

I went for a little stroll yesterday after visiting Half-Price Books with my daughter and smelled something wonderful in the air. The splendid aromas wafting through the spring air intrigued us so we followed our noses around the corner and across the small street into a tiny little shopping plaza where the letters spelled out ADERET. The signs in the window said KOSHER, but the Yelp Reviews said Mediterranean and 4.5 Stars so we decided to take a gamble and trust our nasal instincts. The reviews were very positive but the comments about slow service DID catch my eye. I entered with caution. The poor waitress/hostess/cashier was clearly overworked, running out food, ringing up checks and cleaning tables so with a hand gesture, we seated ourselves and reviewed the menu in conjunction with the Yelp photos. The aforementioned server was an attractive, young Israeli woman who didn't speak or understand English at a high level and it made communicating slightly more difficult than one might encounter at a McDonald's Drive-Thru. Nonetheless, I ordered some chicken and lamb skewers with rice and fries ($16) and a side of Wienerschnitzelom ($8) or something like that, which is basically house-made chicken fingers made with breadcrumbs and a side of modified mayo aka Aoli. I also asked for two glasses of water. What I thought were Israeli sodas were actually just cans of uber sweet fruit juice, but quite delicious at $2.50/can. They disappeared very quickly and I had to walk to the counter to repeat my request for two glasses of water. Everything was satisfactory but nothing close to mind-blowing. The portions were fair-sized. As mentioned, service was very slow and inattentive, though I can't fault the apologetic waitress as she was catering to a large party and several other tables in addition to manning the register. She was so busy that she never even bothered to check on us. The entire meal with tip came to almost $40 which is a bit high for one entree, one appetizer and two cans of juice, so I probably won't be going back considering the combination of taste, service and value. Add one star if you keep Kosher and have limited options when dining out. read more

I stopped by here with 2 friends on a Sunday afternoon around 1 PM. It was actually really crowded and the host had to create a table in the corner for us so we wouldn't have to wait which was very nice. Food We ordered 3 things to share and it was the perfect amount of food for everyone. APPETIZERS 1) Hummus and Olive Oil - smooth and creamy texture; generous portion that came with 2 pita for dipping! I tasted a chicken or meat undertone to the hummus but it wasn't distracting. MAINS 1) Pargiot - the chicken was so tender and flavorful! It had the perfect char on the outside to give it that fresh-off-the-grill taste. I highly recommend ordering this dish. 2) Schnitzel - super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I ended up using the hummus as a dipping sauce for the schnitzel to give it a little more flavor. It was a good dish but I preferred the Pargiot more. DESSERT 1) Parve-Cheese Cake - we were able to try this cheesecake and it was delicious! It was dairy free yet was still creamy and smooth. It had the right amount of vanilla flavor and ended our meal nicely. It did get a little sweet after a few bites but that didn't stop us from finishing the entire slice. All of the food was incredibly fresh and did not make you feel overly stuffed afterwards! Ambience/Service It was a relatively small casual restaurant with less than 10 tables give or take. I didn't feel overwhelmed with the restaurant being completely full. The only downside was that there was only 1 host, Aaron, so the service was slower than expected. It would have been better for the employees and the customers to have at least 1 additional host/hostess. However he apologized for the wait and was still attentive throughout our visit. He also let us try the cheesecake which was very thoughtful!! Price Prices are a bit steep at around $15-17 per plate for main dishes. The quality and freshness of the food do justify the prices though, especially if you're on a specific diet. Parking The restaurant is located in the corner of a strip center that has a decent sized parking lot. No issues finding parking. Overall, this was a great find with fresh and flavorful food. The place is small and plain - one room with tables and chairs. The menu has plenty of options for beef, fish, and appetizers. Salads, not so much. Five of us had lunch. The beef kebab was fantastic. The burgers were good. The white fish was OK - a version of fish nuggets. The pita bread was excellent. The Israeli salads were ordinary. Service was OK. We had to get the waiter's attention whenever we needed anything; although there was only one other table with two customers. He obviously was not trained. Our bill was $125, which averages $25 per person - about what we expect nowadays for a good kosher lunch. read more

I have been eating here for three years now. I come because the food portions are large. Whenever I get a craving for lamb tanjine I come here. They have a special on Wednesday for lamb tanjine. The schnitzel is large and generous. Also the onion rings are hearty. The pargiot is delicious. I would recommend they improve their fish tacos , which are dry and not worth the price. You only get four pieces of dry fish per two tacos. Also the shwarma is just pieces of meat and no pita bread served with it. Shwarma always has pita bread in Israel. If you are not use to Israeli customer service, you will be a bit uncomfortable at first. When you walk in you must seat yourself and then wait like 6-9 minutes to be acknowledged. read more

Whenever I'm in the area I'm calling right away to make a 'pick up' order, it's always the same pita with hummus, baba ganush 'Pargiyot' (chicken skewer) pickles and fries, they have the best fries EVER! to my husband the same just Shawarma instead of the chicken. If I have time to seat down I love to order Pargiyot on a plate, hummus on the side and to "wipe" hummus worth the awesome pita they have. In a word, frustrating. Frustrating at every turn. Oy veh! 1. I come in at end of dinner rush. One table is empty except for remaining dishes. I'm offered a bar seat. No, I want a chair. Well, a couple at a 2-top wants to move to the currently dirty 4-top (they aren't that big, nor do they have so much food that they actually need a bigger table), so that table's out. What evers. I take their 2-top and wait for it to be cleaned. After I order, waitress asks if I want to move to another table. No, this is fine. Really. Already I don't need any more hassle. Is table hopping a thing here? 2. The menu lists 3 soups daily. Nope, today there's only one. Oh, wait, they just made a second. They bring me about 2 tablespoons of each to sample. I'm not bragging, however I make better lentil & split pea soups than these. The pea soup is thin. Both are lacking in flavor. Of course there's no ham that might have punched up the pea soup, because of course, there's no such thing as kosher ham. 3. Do you have the lamb tajine? I saw a picture online, but I don't see it on the menu. No, that's only tomorrow. Ok, you know what, skip the soup, I'll get the coconut curry, make it medium hot & please put the rice on the side. It comes out after a considerable wait--people are still here but little is coming out of the kitchen. 4. The curry, like the soups, is sadly lacking in flavor and is very pale. It's very creamy, too much so for an Asian dish. I'm thinking it's mostly full-bore cream cheese. No spicy heat. Barely noticeable coconut or curry flavor. It's on a bed of rice, which if you recall from the previous paragraph, I requested on the side. The rice has clearly been out for quite a while. It's room temp and clumpy. 5. The entree comes with a salad. Mmm, I've not had matbucha, so I order that. Oh, no, it is not in the right portion for the entree I'm told. So what can I have? I settle for a very lackluster tossed salad with a corresponding flavorless (yet again!) vinaigrette. It doesn't even taste like plain oil & vinegar. It's barely a handful of lettuce & shredded carrot. They bring me 2 tablespoons of matbucha, which is chilled and tastes more like a sauce than a salad. Glad I didn't get a bigger portion of it. I think the average size piece is about 1/2 teaspoon, so I don't know what the deal is about "right size portion." 6. I'd like another glass of water, but am not asked about it until they bring the check. I was almost ready to walk to the register to request my bill when the waitresses noticed me using my phone, got off their phones, and came over. 7. This is a very loud, small place that only seats 32. Prices are high for what you actually get. Average $17+ for most entrees; $14 for a hamburger--you must be kidding me! The food is not bad; I just can't recommend Aderet on any level for food or service. It did seem to be clean. ================= Checking in. Despite the frustrating experience, I had to go back for the lamb tagine. I went after lunch rush as I suspected they might run out of the tagine. The rice was better this time. Maybe they just cook it once a day? The tagine was so salty I almost couldn't eat it. I'm afraid this wouldn't pass muster in Morocco. There was no hint, either in flavor or texture, of any fruit, sweet/sour combination, or nuts. The side salad was slightly bigger this time and I got it with the "dijon vinaigrette" which was better than the vinaigrette I had last time, but it just tasted like mayonnaise and dijon mustard. Yet again, the menu says they have 3 soups daily, but there was only the dilute pea soup. So I skipped that, yet again. I'm done here. Not worth it. read more

Walked in with no expectations and ended up completely blown away by how good the food taste! The chicken pargiot, matbucha, and isreali salad were all delicious, but not greasy. The salad is especially fresh tasting! Waitress recommended the pita falafel which I'll for sure try out in the future. Came I to Dallas on business and was trying to kill time by going shopping, stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Very pleasant atmosphere, at the time it was raining out, a few diners when I walked in more as the meal progressed. Staff is nice and spot on. Tables clean and over all well kept. This is a meat restaurant and coming from Washington, D.C. I was expecting expensive with small portions just the opposite. I had the lentil soup which was tasty and hot. The handmade kebab was flavorful and the Israeli salad hand a nice fresh smell and taste. Over all 15 got me plenty for one dinner.
