I've been wanting to go to Thai Soon since i was 13 and at 27 ive finally tried it and i can say that im glad i waited because id be eating here every day after school its a quaint, cozy establishment. The staff were extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for our food, all the ladies were very sweet. I loved the service and level of attention we received. The food itself was fantastic ! I ordered the Pad Woon-Sen noodles with scallop and shrimp -- something I've never had before so i didn't know what to expect -- and it was hands down one of the best Thai meals I've had in a while. 11/10 It was fresh, tasted great and i actually ate everything. I hate mushrooms but they were seamlessly mixed in to where i didn't even taste them ! The vegetarian egg rolls were exactly as described : crispy, hot and golden. I'd go back for those alone but honestly, the food was so good, my friend --who is a vegetarian btw -- loved them and her meal and the portion sizes are definitely big enough for leftovers. This was my first time eating ordering at this restaurant- I placed a to go order and it was quick & great service. I ordered chicken pad thai (spice level 2). I personally did not like my pad thai because it was quite bland & lacked flavor. It might be more flavorful if you order it spicier, but I typically order things less spicy at other restaurants and find that they still have a lot of flavor. read more

We had seen that this place was closing on social media and decided to come check it out. I had placed an online order for pickup on a Friday at 7:30. I figured I would be there by 8pm to get the food. When I arrived, I noticed it was a cute, small intimate restaurant. I saw a large party right in the middle of the dining room with a whole lot of wine on the table. Apparently this place is BYOB, very good to know. One of the women working saw me at the register and asked what the name was for the order, once I told her my name she told me it wasn't done yet and it was going to be a wait. I was in no rush, so I sat and waited. While I waited I saw that large table of people order so many plates, it seemed like they ordered one of everything on the menu and just shared. The portions were definitely big enough to do so. Long story short, I waited 45 minutes for my food but it was fresh. I had a 10 minute drive home and the food was still very hot by the time I made it. The calamari was so crispy and the batter was delicious, it also came with a sauce to dip in and that just went well with it. The pad Thai was so full in the container, the servings are more than enough to share. My pad woosen was probably the best I've had. I couldn't get enough of it. The 45 minute wait was well worth it and I would wait that long every time to get great food like that. Let me telllll you, that mango sticky rice really rounded up the whole meal perfectly. I had zero complaints, and I even had enough for leftovers the next day, which was still very good the day after. I've also thought about this place everyday this week. lol I'm ready to go back and enjoy it all over again. I scouted this place for a work meeting tomorrow. I had the combo satay and the fresh spring rolls appetizers. The shrimp satay was a little dry, the rest was excellent. I really appreciated the large GF indicating gluten free options and the options were plentiful. The surface was great, the staff is very kind. The restaurant is small, but it is comfortable. Wow. Just... wow. Hands down the best Thai food I've had in Dallas. Tucked away off Coit near Beltline, this little spot is an absolute gem. The owner was incredibly kind and even came out to chat with me--turns out, this is the oldest Thai restaurant in Dallas! Her mom started it decades ago, and now she's proudly carrying on the family tradition. I had the soup and the Pad Kee Mow today, and let me tell you... WOWWWWW. I think this is a pretty solid Thai spot in the area that seems like it's been around for a while. We ordered the corn patties and the pad see ew! The corn patties were a unique item that I haven't seen in the menu at other Thai places so I was excited to try them, and I think they were pretty good, but a little bit dry as well as under seasoned. The pad see ew was solid, I don't think it stands out from the others I've tried in the nearby areas, but it was still good! The lady in the front was busy scrambling food and other stuff to the tables . Took her 5 mins to seat us down event though there were empty tables Took them sometime to get our water orders and food orders. Food took a while as well. This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the DFW area. They have great portion sizes and everything tastes very authentic. The most special thing about the place is their variety of meat options and you can pair any meat with any of their entrees. There's even squid! Which tasted marvelously with my pad kee mow. This was my introduction to Thai food nearly 20 years ago, and I will always keep going back. My go-to used to be a Penang curry with tofu, but I did it today with chicken. The Pad See Ew is off the charts, and all around I've never had a single thing I didn't love. Every meal is a solid two servings. I have never NOT taken a full meal worth of leftovers home, and today was no different. The service is great, and the restaurant is nice and clean. I met up with my father and step mom for dinner on a Saturday night at Roman Cucina but the wait time was 50 mins which was too long for my dad to wait so we looked up what else was around and found this place. It is pretty small in the shopping center in the southeast corner adjacent to Roman Cucina. You can tell this is a family run business and there were 2 of their kids playing and eating at one of the tables. I got the Pad Woon-sen Noodles with Scallop & Shrimp $20.00. I will note that the food comes out as it is ready not all together for the table like a normal restaurant. I did not eat lunch and was starving but the portion was so big I only ate half. The scallops were slightly larger than quarter size and the shrimp were large and plump but tails on. I do not react to spice well so I got a 1 of 5 which I am assuming is no spice. The presentation on the plate was nice and it was very flavorful with the mixed veggies of bok choy, bean spouts, carrots, and onions. The noodles were plentiful underneath the mound of meat and veggies. I would go back for sure but would probably get it to go instead. read more

This is a small traditional place, as authentic as it gets, it's very down to earth. Prices are extremely good, lunch/ dinner entrees can be $11/$14, and they have all the traditional Thai dishes and appetizers. The server was extremely nice, and food was fresh, tasty and good portioned. They have restrooms, and parking is available both at the front and the back. it's on the smaller side they have about 10 tables, but I can fit small and large parties (up 6 or so) but the space is limited so I recommend you make a reservation. read more

The spring rolls were gooey and poorly rolled. The plastic wrap used to preserve them was wrapped too many times and the tug of war to remove the plastic wrap. Only 2 per order, too. Avoid the spring rolls at $8.00 for two rolls. This restaurant is better than that. read more

It's tough when you go to a restaurant for the first time and don't know what to expect. I should have read Yelp reviews in advance, but I stopped for a spur of the moment, "to go" lunch. A good restaurant would have staff that would greet you at the door, seat you and help you with the menu. None of that happened. Obviously they were quite busy for lunch. The two waitresses were busy shuffling plates of food back and forth from the kitchen to the white linen, covered tables. There was very little room to maneuver to the hostess stand in the back, but I was forced to move away from the door where people were trying to exit. Chaos! After standing for a few minutes next to what appeared to be the hostess stand in the back of the restaurant, I finally helped myself to a menu. The waitresses continued to bustle by without acknowledging me. I interrupted one and asked if they did take out. She said yes, and rushed back to write down my order. There were two seats at the back of the restaurant that appeared to be for those waiting for their food. I took it upon myself to sit down because it was apparent that no one was going to offer me a seat. The floor was sticky which seemed at odds with how nice the tables were set. My dome of steamed white rice and green curry were thrown together and wrapped in foil and then packaged in a styrofoam clamshell. Ideally they would be in separate containers, but since I was going to mix them together anyway, I didn't mind. My eggplant green curry was loaded with vegetables and tofu. We are talking at least one with every bite of rice. Usually the ratio is off and I'm left with a big, glob of dry rice. Fortunately that wasn't the case. The eggplant was thinly sliced, but maintained their hearty texture with each bite. The tofu was cubed small enough that it didn't need to cut before shoveling into my mouth. Loads of green beans, bell peppers, and onions decorated my plate of food. Spicy scale was 1-5, with 5 being the hottest. I asked for a 4, but felt it was more on par with a 3. Would I do it again? Maybe. Lunch was cheap (around $10) and included an egg roll and your choice of soup or salad. The in-house dining experience was less than desirable, but I might consider ordering online for a quick to go order so that I never have to hang out in the restaurant again. The decent food chalk full of veggies at a reasonable price would be the thing that would lure me back. read more

I have been eating Thai food for at least 40 years. I have been eating at this restaurant since it opened, around 1988 or so on Lower Greenville Ave. The original owner, Soon, sold it awhile back and the restaurant has moved to Coit Rd. This is the worst Thai food I have ever had in my life. Not only in Dallas, but anywhere. I have had Thai food in street stalls in Chiang Mai, all the way to fast food non-sense in the US. By far, no comparison, this is the worst. My friend and I sat down tonite and ordered what we came for: The whole catfish. It's on the menu, but they don't have it. No big deal. Let's get some other dishes. We ordered the Boat People w salmon. The salmon wasn't just over cooked to the point of being flat, tasteless, and dry, I swear it was rancid. I can't eat it. And I can eat anything. We ordered the tilapia. Inedibly over cooked. We ordered the Salmon Penang. It was so over cooked, it was like shoe leather. Tasteless and disgusting. Even the egg rolls were tasteless. We told the waitress about it. Not that we complain, but 3 dishes were inedible. Her response? "Oh, yeah, the chef doesn't know how to cook seafood." Think I'm making this up? Go see for yourself. Hopefully, this restaurant will close. It's a disservice to the public to keep it open. Thai Soon should be called Thai Soon Close. read more

So you end up sitting in your car counting down the minutes making awkward eye contact with the nail salon ladies next door.
