Oh god. I wish people have high standard for sushi, or at least, know what sushi is. Coming from Los Angeles the sushi at Todoroki is just awful. The nigiri are really pricy here and they don't do a good job on the rice/fish ratio (tiny piece of fish + large chunk of rice), nor do they use good sushi rice to enhance the sushi experience. Not only was the rice itself not up to the standard quality, the recipe they used to make the sushi rice was also on the sour side. The rice doesn't stick together nicely. Service is mediocre, on the slow side and the server had a straight face the entire time. Rolls. aren't. real. sushi. So there are two sides to the restaurant, the sushi side and the hibachi restaurant. I've eaten at both, and both are good. The hibachi restaurant is fantastic. They use a high quality beef, the presentation (the kinda mini cooking show) is a lot of fun, and the sides are good. On the sushi side, it's very good. ALMOST SENT ME GIRLFRIEND TO THE HOSPITAL!!! I've eaten here before and it was decent so I'm just really confused and disappointed at this last time. I ordered takeout form here on grubhub and mentioned TWICE on the order for them to please separate any shrimp from the hibachi dish and cook it separately from anything that had touched shrimp or seafood because I had someone in my group with a seafood allergy. I specifically used the words "do not cross-contaminate" anything, which anyone with common sense would take to mean that dissimilar items should not touch or be packaged together; aka fish should not touch non-fish items. After that I called and reiterated this verbally to the staff and asked them to please make sure nothing non-fish touched any thing that was a fish dish in my order. When I went to pick it up, I asked if they separated everything and they confirmed that they did. When I finally got home and opened the food, the first thing I saw was that they packaged the regular sushi with the vegetarian sushi. Thankfully, they separated the shrimp so they got that part right. I was annoyed, but not planning on making a fuss so I just figured I would not give those rolls to my girlfriend since they had been packaged with fish. As I was eating them, I found a hair in one of the rolls. I decided to call just to inform them that there was a hair in it and to please be more careful. Again, didn't feel like causing a fuss so I didn't mention the botched packaging job since I didn't give it to my girlfriend. Then, I found a piece of chicken in her rice that was not cooked through. If that wasn't bad enough, she still had an allergic reaction to her rice because something obviously touched fish. I called back and explained this to the restaurant and all they offered me was a $5 credit and a "too bad we tried" response. Wendy, the less than helpful manager, claimed that all their chefs wore hairnets. Well, it looked like an eye lash or freshly shaven hair and was embedded in the cream cheese so it definitely came from them and I explained that to her. She didn't care. She also claimed that they treat all sushi the same so they can package veggie and regular sushi together. What sense does this make? Especially given the fact that I made 4 separate attempts to convey that there was an allergy and that things could not cross-contaminate. Either they need to open a dictionary and look up cross-contamination or go back to hospitality school and learn how to prepare/package food. She claimed that I was at fault because I only mentioned separating the shrimp...well I said don't cross-contaminate anything and told the man verbally on the phone to make sure nothing non-fish touched fish so no, that wasn't my mistake; it was theirs. At that point I just wanted a refund because they botched the order and did NOT make every reasonable attempt to accommodate us as they claimed. We barely even touched the food. The level of disservice I received regarding the matter was absolutely disgusting. They messed up and wouldn't even own the fact that they made a careless mistake that could have potentially put someone in the hospital. I have no faith that they cooked the other food properly because of the blatant error they made in packaging the sushi. Way to go, Todoroki. They're just about money here; no accountability, problem resolution skills or critical customer service skills. I wish I could give them 0 stars. Ridiculous. read more

A great atmosphere, I prefer sitting at the sushi bar where first and foremost I drop $5 into their tip bowl $10 if I'm with someone then sit in front of the experienced all Asian sushi artists and get the all you can eat menu that's $19 at lunch and $24 at dinner 7 days a week, and order my spicy salmon hand rolls, salmon skin hand rolls, crispy chicken, Sesame balls which is a far cry from my 26 pieces of sushimi. Great everything plus who's price point beats anywhere for miles around. read more

What a gorgeous renovation of what was an empty space! They have a sushi dining area, an enclosed hibachi area (so you don't have to smell the hibachi fumes), a couple of semi-private dining tables where you sit on the floor, and a back room that would be great for events. There were great lunch options including an all you can eat sushi option for $16.99. It's not a buffet, but order two rolls at a time until you have to be rolled out the door yourself (so less chance of scary, fish-borne illnesses). I got two huge, delicious rolls for $9.99 and I was plenty full. The quality of the sushi here blows Koi away, and it's closer to my office (win!). As of right now it's BYOB, but I can't tell if they're waiting on their liquor license or not. I will be back over and over again. read more

All you can eat sushi has not gotten any better than this place! I absolutely love Sushi Para but this place takes All you can eat to the next level. Sure it's a little pricier than Sushi Para but I feel that it is worth the cost. You can definitely see and taste the quality in the sushi. The service staff is always friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere is very upscale and makes you feel as though you are dining at a high end sushi restaurant. I must say that I haven't tried out the Hibachi but I don't think I intend to (just because I am not a huge fan of it). This is a place I would want to bring everyone who is visiting Chicago just because it is well worth the price and if you love sushi, as much as I do, then this is basically heaven for you! read more

The all you can eat sushi special here allows you to get exactly what you want, and it's darn good sushi. If you're really craving sushi and you're hungry, this is the place to go. For better quality, Kansaku is a better choice, and for cheap, Sashimi Sashimi is your best bet. But for a lot of good sushi in a nice environment, this is a great choice. Also, there is a teppan grill, so it's a good place for larger parties and for kids. read more

Just got home from a fantastic hibachi dinner here. The ambiance was great and it wasn't too crowded or loud, but not dead either. Our group had sake, sushi, hibachi and dessert, and we loved everything! The waitress was very attentive and friendly, and the chef was quick and skilled. The not so good reviews about the All You Can Eat (AYCE) option here did not deter me from trying it so I dragged a friend (he already had the ayce and wanted the hibachi). There was a NU discount here for 10% which is pretty standard. I was pleasantly surprised that there was an additional NU discount for AYCE. It was $19.95 (instead of $22.95) for all you can eat. The menu was pretty varied. They offered soups, salads, hot appetizers, single sushi (what everyone knows as nigiri), and sushi rolls. I loved my food. I had the fried chicken, grilled calamari, fried oysters, vegetable tempura, chicken skewers off the hot appetizer menu. It was all good. With the sushi rolls, the unagi (eel), davis (salmon, eel, cucumber, tobiko, avocado), tuna crunch (spicy tuna, tempura chips, tobiko), hokkai ( salmon, cucumber, salmon skin ), volcano ( spicy yellowtail, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, tobiko), and the todoroki rolls ( salmon, eel, cucumber, avocado, masago ) were all represented. I avoided the single sushi, rightfully so, since for my second round I ordered one piece just to try it. Their strength here is not that, but their sushi rolls are beautifully presented and taste decent too. There are several items I wanted to try, but I simply did not have room. I wanted the pepper tuna appetizer, seaweed salad, salmon skin roll, christmas roll and mountain roll. When I come back, it will be difficult because I loved everything I had, but there's so much else I have to try. The decor was great and in the back corner, there was a beautiful area for traditional japanese seating in open mini-pagodas. Next time, I want to eat there. I feel this is a great addition to the AYCE sushi options and much closer to NU. This doesn't replace Sea Ranch, but I love the variety in their sushi rolls. The ratio of rice to filling was spot on. Some may be put off by the minced fish for some of the rolls, but I feel they allowed for a more uniform taste in my mouth. I can't wait to have the opportunity to visit here again, perhaps for the lunch AYCE $16.95. They also have a decent happy hour menu for the various hibachi options. Normally todoroki is a good place close by to get some decent Japanese food. However, this time we were EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of service and food The server messed up our order of egg sashimi and Nigiri. (We ordered 4 pieces of sushi in total so I don't know how that is possible within an organized kitchen.) The hot appetizers arrived after 45 minutes of ordering, but only after a reminder to the server at the 40 minute mark. The Gyoza came a little bit soggier than usual but the age Dashi tofu was good. For the hibachi, the server did not ask any of us how our filet mignon or steak is to be cooked and they came out with a rubber-tire texture. And one hibachi was not served at all, when I asked the server after waiting 10 minutes while watching my friends eat, a server came out asked whether there was a question. Ummm no? I'm just missing my food, that's all. So after that the server came out and told me that they forgot about my order. The quality of food was not worth the price we were paying. And I would really question if it was worth all the wait at all, since it took me an hour to wait to eat two appetizers. Overall, if I could give a rating of zero I would have gladly given it without a thought. read more

Todoroki is my new go-to place for AYCE sushi. The quality is much superior than anywhere else I've been to and the 23 dollar price tag includes nigiri and appetizers. I deducted one star because when I first walked in I did not wish to eat AYCE. But any roll that looked delicious was priced around ~13 so I decided to opt for the buffet. The traditional restaurant menu is very high priced, without the buffet offer I probably wouldn't come. Servers are very kind and never rush us. I love that I can sit in a private booth with my boyfriend, so when the crowds come in we can still talk without raising our voices. The booths are a little funky though, they're modeled after a tatami room but there's a gap for your legs. It doesn't make much sense. The restaurant looks gorgeous though. I was here for birthday hibachi with a group of ten friends, and it was an enjoyable experience, but I don't feel that it was exceptional, and I probably wouldn't choose to go here again. We had a very nice waiter who was able to give us great drinks recommendations from the menu. I ordered a Riesling for myself (really sweet and delicious) and a Crazy Milk for my friend whose birthday we were celebrating. I didn't think much of it, but he seemed to enjoy it. I ordered the salmon hibachi, and I thought it was very well prepared, although the salmon might have been a tad overcooked. It came with miso soup, a house salad, noodles, fried rice, vegetables and shrimp, all of which were good, but unexceptional. As a student at Northwestern, I used to love getting AYCE sushi here after stressful midterms. Now, this establishment appears to be going downhill. I believe they changed owners since majority of the servers have changed to either Vietnamese or Thai. The service here used to be adequate and attentive, but is no longer due to this change. Another change for the worse is the food quality. The sushi here used to taste fresh and delicious. I do see that they have the same chefs, but the food is just not the same as it used to be. I understand this place is busy on weekends and we are used to the wait, but this past week, the wait was ridiculous. Being seated at 6 and being told last call is at 10. We would have ordered more if the sushi came fast enough, but the food came after 45-50 minutes after placing a round. Please save your time and go to other sushi establishments! Love Todoroki. Note, I've only been there for Sushi. The All-You-Can-Eat Sushi is an incredibly good deal. Especially at the lunch price. Especially if you have a Northwestern Wildcard ID. Also, they don't charge for small children (my toddler eats a lot). If you're doing All-You-Can-Eat, order a lot up front. It takes a very long time to make each order, especially if they're busy, so you might not want to wait through 2 or 3 rounds. Also, they tend to forget to give you everything you ordered, so ordering early gives you time to correct that mistake. The sushi seems to be high quality. I can say for certain that I've never gotten sick, and that's more than I can say for some high priced Manhattan NYC sushi. It tastes incredible, and the presentation is always well done. The appetizers are great too. We enjoy the Gyoza, the Sesame Bean Paste Balls, the Tempura Veggies, and you can't go wrong with Edamame. All in all, a wonderful experience. Just know, if you're not Northwestern affiliated, this is a college student go-to, so be prepared for a noisy evening environment. read more

What happened? We waited 50 minutes for a seat when we were told it would take 20 minutes. It was a Saturday night at 7:00PM, so it was somewhat understanding. However, the service after was just a disaster. We ordered at around 8:00PM, but after 40 minutes of waiting for food our patience was running low. We only ordered 4 rolls, so it was hard to believe it would take that long to prepare our food. We saw other people sitting down after us, and leaving before we even got our food. We tried to sort out the situation with a waitress, and it seemed that our order got lost. Our food arrived around 9 PM, and we got a free appetizer as compensation for our time. The food was good, but definitely not worth the two hour wait. Not sure if I'd chance Todoroki on a busy day which is a shame because it serves quality food at reasonable prices. read more

Ok, I have positive things to say about this place, but just cannot give them more than 3 stars (was gonna put 2, but I felt bad for all the other good things they had). So you walk in and this place is pretty neat, nice and modern. Well designed interior I thought. Hostess and the servers were very attentive and kind. Foodwise, there were good and bad stuff. Miso was good, Shumai was tasty. Sushi wise, I thought their seaweed wasn't 100% fresh, tuna was tasteless, and tamago (egg sushi) was flat out horrible. Also, the rice wasn't tasty (it was too dry and tasteless). However, other fish were quite good, and the rolls were (even though they were too big of a portion) quite alright (I had godzilla and Davis rolls). Lastly the tempura ice cream was pretty good too. So, up to this part, I would say it was a 3.5-4 star review. Now is the real story. midway through our dinner the shrimp my wife ordered came out, but it had some kind of black dot (looking like some foreign stuff) on it. It was quite gross, so we asked the server to get the new piece. What did we get? the same piece with the dot removed with the sushi knife. I was very surprised and utterly shocked that they even thought about cutting the spot and serve it again. So here we go. I hope this doesn't happen to anybody else ever again. read more

I went with my friend for the all you can eat sushi and I have to be honest I LOVE all you can eat sushi and I probably went to 5 or 6 all you can eat sushi in the city (Chicago) and this one was not the worst but it was VERY CLOSE to be. That wasn't the problem.. listing to this.. My friend wife call him and ask him to bring home 2 rolls of sushi so we asked menu to order for pick up.. I picked her 2 rolls one was $7 and the other was $8 so far so good.. and then the check came and we saw that this 2 rolls was much more then what the menu said so I called the waiter and told him that on the menu its said a cheaper price.. so he said ''ill go and check''. So far so good and then he came.. He said '' you right it is cheaper on the menu BUT'' then he showed me this small writing at the beginning of the menu said ''price might change without notice'' (or something like that)... REALLY??????? I came for the Bogo deal so I was aware that the food would come out slowly... but seriously I was at Todoroki today from 630 to 10 o clock today. 3 1/2 hours.... My friend had a reservation for 630 so we were seated quickly. The appetizers came out quickly and they were delicious; the sushi rolls took an hour and a half, and we devoured everything on the plate. We realized we were missing a lot of rolls!! The waiter apologized-she was super duper nice but we waited another hour for the rolls to come out again... they messed up the order again-we never got to try the crunch roll and the California roll... my vegetarian friend ordered 2 avocado rolls and 2 veggie rolls but he only got 3 avocado rolls at 10 o clock. I could have made rice myself and bought avocados and cut them myself in a shorter time (and also much cheaper). I don't think we minded the first wait but we certainly minded the messing up of the orders. Because we didn't get to eat or try as much as we wanted, and we left pretty hungry because they forgot to give us half of our orders. I really think the sushi is okay, but never will I ever go back again for the ayce experience. Three hours and a half of waiting for unsatisfactory sushi is unacceptable. Todoroki's interior is sleek, neat and great for small and big groups. They have a separate huge room for Hibachi dinner with all the shows. We were seated in the dining area because we went there for the AYCE sushi lunch special for $18.95(dinner is $24.95). The sushi rolls were good although there were huge chunks of avocado in the rolls with avocado as one of the "ingredients". I couldn't actually taste the crab or salmon that's supposed to be in the roll too. My kids and I filled out the menu sheets individually because we wanted our own rolls on our individual plates. Unfortunately, the rolls were served on our table according to what the sushi chef made first. In other words, there was no point filling out or own orders because they mixed up all the roll orders anyway, no individualism here:( The service was just okay, not friendly nor rude, a little slow so you have to call for your server's attention. I would probably go back to this place when my kids and I crave for sushi just because it's the closest one as compared to the one in the city or in the other suburbs. read more

We had the hibachi, and to be honest I don't remember thinking the walls were particularly dirty like the other reviews have mentioned. Maybe they've started paying attention to reviews and worked on changing that? Anyway the food is pretty good, portions are enormous and well cooked. Wow! Too many bizarre things happened here. I was apprehensive about eating here due what many people have been saying, but the mixed reviews tipped my hand and I went to try it. As we sat down, I told my wife that this place has some pretty awful service according to Yelp and I think that helped temper her expectations for what was to come! First of all, I'll start by pointing out that this was a 2.5 hour affair for two! We were seated quickly and given two menus and water immediately. No one ever asked if we wanted something else to drink. Half-way through the meal, I decided to force someone to stop and I ordered some tea. We ordered off of the all-you-can-eat menu, which is my SOP when visiting a new sushi place. I ordered a miso soup and my wife ordered some gyoza, and we put our roll selections on the same sheet. My miso came out and I watched it steam off into a lukewarm pool for several minutes before the gyoza came. Then, half of our order (2 rolls) of sushi came on one plate. The server didn't explain which rolls these were. We weren't given any plates for ourselves, which made eating all of our sushi from one small round plate an endeavor of finger and arm acrobatics! We eventually asked for plates. The other half of our first sushi order never came. After sitting hungry for about 15 minutes without even water refills (we were both empty and yes we timed it because we were finding the experience increasingly amusing), the server came by to ask if we wanted to order again. We explained we were missing 2 of the 4 rolls we ordered and he seemed flustered and we insisted it didn't matter any more. As an experiment, and because the first plate was pretty decent, I ordered the same rolls and my wife ordered the same rolls. The second plate eventually came and had completely unfamiliar rolls to us. This place is seriously a train wreck. We were chatting and didn't really notice the passage of time but at the hour and a half mark I had soup and 6 pieces of sushi in my stomach and we were heading up on our plans to go see a movie. I wasn't going to dish $60 for two rolls of fricking sushi, so we decided to order again and hope for the best. We didn't end up getting to see that movie because the last showing was at 8:00. We showed up at the restaurant at a few minutes after six. The place was never over half capacity, and when we walked in there was only one table and one kneeling dining area filled. The service is quick but wildly insane and inaccurate (at one point we were asked if we wanted to order some sushi by the guy who took our sheet not more than 5 minutes earlier) and the food -- seems just all right, but I can't give it a fair shake because I was starving and would've eaten a pile of rice if they had put it in front of me! read more

I must say I was super excited to go to a hibachi/ sushi buffet place near Evanston/ Northside of Chicago, because the options here are really narrow for sushi buffets and basically no options for hibachi. And it had such good reviews, and such value too! Maybe that's why I was really disappointed at the outcome. On a Saturday night, my friend and I went to get some dinner. First of all, I don't think we even had a designated server because no one came to greet us after we sat down, for at least 15-20min. We had to ask the host to get us some glasses for our white wine, which didn't come for another 20 minutes or so after we asked. Meanwhile, a male server came by with a cork opener to open our bottle, but we said no thank you because our bottle was a twist but he took it anyway.. then came back with the opened bottle, just put it on the table, didn't pour it, then just left. We also never got a bucket of ice that we asked for with our glasses. We decided to do all you can eat sushi so we just handed the pink sheet of paper to the host that was walking around. Then about 10 min later, the same male server walks to our table and asks, "are you ready to order?" (very monotone, no greeting). We told him we already gave our order, and he just walked off. We asked for a bucket of ice again, but nothing came. We waited for another 40min, and NOTHING came, not even the miso soup or the appetizer we ordered. Finally our miso soup arrived, then we waited another 20-30min then our food came. But the worst part was that our order wasn't even right. We told the host (who brought the food) nicely that we never got our appetizer, so he brought the appetizer along with the food, but it wasn't the right one. We ordered the yaki tori (teriyaki chicken on sticks) but tatsuta age came (the fried chicken). I told him that I don't think this is our appetizer, but he said it is. But I worked at a Japanese place before to know that the appt was NOT yaki tori. I asked him, "Are you sure?" he responded, "Yes". What was I supposed to say then? I said okay, we ate it. It tasted fine and we didn't mind that it was wrong, but I didn't like the fact that he didn't just tell us it was the wrong one. Also, our sushi dish had three nigiri pieces missing. We told him some were missing so he brought two of them, but the third one never came, but we just gave up on it. Honestly, the food itself wasn't that bad. Nigiri kinda had a lot of rice, but rolls weren't as rice-heavy as Sushi Para is. For a sushi buffet place, at that selection and at that price, it really wasn't bad. But the waiting time and service was terrible. I work in a service industry so I really understand how it can get at a local restaurant on Saturdays. So if they were really nice and apologetic about this, I would've had no problem with it. But they were rather rude and nonchalant. Also, another thing that really ticked me off was that a table that sat literally five minutes before us got their wine glasses promptly, got an ice bucket for their wine, and looked like they had their own server. I just didn't understand why we were so neglected. To be fair, I think it deserves another chance for me to go back on a week day, but that was one of the most worst dining experiences I had. read more

I wish we could give 0 stars but lucky for them Yelp is much kinder than I. So we ordered delivery for about over $60.00's worth of sushi from here and when we asked them if they could make certain kind called the Hurricane Roll of course they said yes. We also asked them if they knew what was in the roll because we had someone here who was allergic to tuna and of course they said tuna was not in the roll. So playing it safe everyone ordered that because we didn't want to chance a allergic reaction to anyone and we told him over the phone just that. We also asked them to fry it, although if they knew how to make a hurricane roll they would already know that. When the food got here it was not fried, and not what we ordered because it was tuna and another kind of white fish meat in the roll. Crab stick or craw fish comes in a hurricane roll btw. Oh and we had to use the epi-pen on my sister after she ate two of the rolls because it had TUNA in the roll. When I called back the guy said we asked him what was in the crawfish roll,..... -_-, why would we ask about the meat in a crawfish roll when clearly it has just crawfish in it. So when I explained to him that no, we were asking about the hurricane he says we get 15% off our next order. Helloooooo I forgot to mention we are not from here, just visiting a bestie who will never order from here now, and we had to throw out the sushi. His response is he can give us 15% off our next order. *sighs* I politely thanked him for being able to do nothing and for almost killing my sister. I wanted to love this place because we're looking for a regular spot. However, while food was decent, service kinda ruined the experience. We tried to be patient but ended up going back to the hostess stand to ask if we even had a server. Our patience wore thin when the couple seated next to us and after us not only placed their order but also received soup and salads while we had no attention whatsoever. Perhaps that set the mood .... but then we didn't even get appetizers we ordered at all. And our server didn't seem to realize. We arrived ahead of the dinner crowd by maybe 30 minutes on a Sunday eve. However, because initial service was so slow, we ended up in the midst of a crowd and this slowed things even more. While food was maybe a 3-4, the service drags them down overall. read more

Todoroki has been a family celebration spot for about 6 years now! We love going here and dining in the hibachi area! It is always a really fun time! Although I do have to say that it is an expensive place to dine so keep this is mind when bringing a large party! The hibachi chefs have such a great sense of humor and are always a good time! The sushi is also pretty good as well, although it is also on the expensive side so I would suggest taking advantage of their all-you-can-eat option as a way to get some great sushi and keep the cost down! read more

Todoroki is one of my favorite place for All-You-Can-Eat sushi. The chefs don't skimp on the fish or overload the sushi and rolls with excess rice. Jennifer and the rest of the wait staff are super-accommodating. The last time I was there, I had the misfortune of witnessing a really unpleasant a-hole of a customer who was exceedingly rude and uncouth, and all the wait staff handled the mega-douche with great poise and professionalism. As far as the food goes, the quality is what you'd expect from a great sushi restaurant for a bargain price. I've never had the hibachi experience, but other clients always seem satisfied. read more

First time there and although extremely pricey, the atmosphere and staff where talented and friendly. We did not try the sushi this time around, but I will definitely be back try. The restaurant could certainly use a little bit of "housekeeping" and lower prices, but not enough to keep me from trying their other menu items! read more

I have to update this and knock it down a few stars. The food is good- but again, the service was awful. We have to basically run our waitress down to get re-fills. It was worse than my previous visit. My food was a little overcooked this time around, too. The waitresses need to get it together, it ruins my experience when i have to stop eating and let my food get cold to wait on water. Not really their fault, but the table next to us (these things seat 8 normally) had TWELVE people. six adults and six small children. the noise level was outrageous (it's already a bit loud in hibachi restaurants) but allowing that many people to cram into one table really messes up the next table's flow. they should have made them split up. read more

Not good. We went for lunch and we ordered bento boxes- mine with veggie tempura, and my dining companion with chicken teriyaki. While our order was taken promptly, the food took about 40 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was incorrect-- rather than a bento box, I ended up with a huge plate of tasteless tempura, and my companion with chicken. When we pointed out the error, the waitstaff seemed helpless to remedy the situation, so we asked them if we could get some dumplings. Another 15 minutes passed. We ended up eating a bunch of stuff we didn't want - hard, overly sweet chicken; tasteless tempura; and mediocre dumplings. The waitstaff didn't apologize for the error (nor did they offer to comp the meal or part of the meal). I wouldn't go back. read more

I admit there isn't much else for me to say about this place that hasn't already been said. I used to work in the area, so I have been here numerous times (at least 8-10 for lunch and dinner combined), at first willingly, and then later just because one of my coworkers really likes to eat all-you-can-eat sushi. The food is ok but not great and not consistent, and the service is...well...astonishing. It is a perfect example of a restaurant that simply does not understand how customer service works. We've had service issues in the past with this place as well, which I won't even get into in this review since this one takes the cake. A few weeks ago where a friend had a going-away party. There were about 10 of us and we all did the all you can eat sushi. The meal was mostly ok until the very end. Our waitress asked everyone at the table if we wanted to split up the checks, and since the table was a large group of all couples, we all said yes. Everyone got their separate checks except me and my husband. We waited for another 10 minutes just conversing with our friends and then we finally realized it was not coming. We flag down the waitress and ask for our check again. A period of about 20 minutes passes where she goes to get the check, then takes our credit card and then comes back with our charged card/receipt and then vanishes without a trace. We open up the card holder to find that she gave us someone else's receipt AND credit card. I get up to go find her because she again never came back, and I explain to her that this is not our card or receipt so she can quickly find the person who has our check and replace them. She does this but only gets our card back and doesn't replace the receipts and the people who had our card and bill have now signed OUR receipts and have already left. Now here is the best part: She then explains to us that our bill was approximately $53 and the other party's bill was about $37. They have already signed our receipts and presumably both cards were charged. She explaines that they needed to revoke the charges on each card and charge them again correctly so that the other party would not be overpaying (which is completely reasonable) and we would be charged correctly. We then spent a whopping 35 minutes waiting for them to figure out this complicated transaction. By the end of that time, they still couldn't give us a receipt and insisted to my husband that they would email it to him (which they later did). We were completely astounded by the whole situation. It all worked out int he end, but we were all held up there for over an hour while it was resolved, and they did not offer to comp anything because of it. Needless to say, we'll likely be avoiding this place. read more

Ate here three times, sushi twice, third for lunch time hibachi. Service was really slow- took about 40 minutes for the hibachi lunch special. Busing was not great, at one point server spilled soup on the table and never bothered to clean it up. Food was mediocre, really nothing special and definitely not worth the 16$+ price point.
