From veteran to novice Tochterman's is the best place to start and end your fishing experience. There are many other places you can go to purchase items to make your fishing experience better but Tochterman's is the place that actually makes the experience better. I will drive out of my way at any time to buy from Tochterman's. If you haven't been there, I would like to suggest you give them a try...you don't know, what you don't know :) read more

There are so many reasons to shop local and Tochterman's is a wonderful reminder of the benefits of supporting a small business in the community. I don't fish but support the hobby of my hubby and went to Tochterman's to purchase a gift card as a stocking stuffer. I was warmly greeted and helped quickly. I was truly made to feel like my business was appreciated. It was nice seeing patrons peruse the speciality items and fathers shopping with their sons. It seems like they offer everything a beginner or expert fisherman could want so I encourage you to support this business over shopping online. read more

Tochterman's Fishing Tackle - Fishing Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

I've been here a couple times with things that have nothing to do with fishing! I pick up my UPS packages here and the woman who has helped me has been very cheerful about it, even though I feel as if I'm interrupting. The last time I was there, I was looking for a windbreaker and also fishing line for bead weaving. The guy showed me the area where clothing was (and there were some beautiful items) and I ultimately settled on a simple $20 jacket that fit the bill perfectly. The fishing line was more difficult. I was looking for 6 pound line and settled on two different varieties. I found out the next day (from my beading teacher) that I got the wrong stuff. Returning them was easy. The worker realized that he'd seen fishing line for beading at Michael's and thought I should try that. The store is an amazing homage to fishing with historical photos and artifacts besides being stuffed with more equipment than one could want. read more

It is the oldest family owned fishing tackle store in the US. Great service and excellent support knowledge. They will always help the customer with their vast fishing knowledge. Outstanding display of fishing equipment, trolling, surf fishing spinning and baitcasting equipment, saltwater and fresh water, plus excellent supply of fly fishing and fly tying equipment. Just a great place to visit and shop. read more

If you are an expert fisherperson, (especially fly fishing,) and have all the latest gear, you need to visit Tochterman's on Eastern where it's almost a guarantee you'll learn something new. If you want to become an expert - visit often. I stopped in about 40 years ago and received tremendously productive advice. Since then, they get my business because the value exceeds any price paid. I wandered in here with my parents who were visiting from out-of-town and are into fishing, and we were all impressed. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside, and there's a great selection for every price point and for many different types of fishing. The owners were really helpful and friendly as well. read more

I just bought my first rod and reel here, and I am really impressed with the service I got. I let the salesman know what was looking for, and he spent about 30 minutes setting me up and explaining the equipment and how to use it. Plus, he was really good with my hyper 4 year old son. Price seems competitive. I will definitely be going back when indeed any fishing stuff. I highly recommend this shop! read more

Very friendly staff. Got some great deals. Would definitely be back just to shop their diverse selection.

Let me preface this by saying that I know absolutely nothing about fishing. I just wanted to go inside because of the cool neon sign they have hanging over the place. The people seemed friendly and it was like walking into a canyon of fishing rods and tackle. There was an aisle dedicated to different types of hooks, so I assume (?) the selection was good. read more

Congratulations on 100 years. Just trying to put that into perspective Is totally mind blowing. To think in this day and age, for anything to last 100 years. But at least for this moment in time I'm gonna try and put it into perspective . Walking into Tochermans Is like pulling up to your favorite fishing spot, only to see the water boiling with fish. And from the first cast, you realize That it's on. From that moment on you realize, that you truly have encountered heaven on earth. Best of luck !!! You are truly the best there every was or ever will be. Here's to tight lines forever ! Gary Y It's the most unbelievable place ever read more

I'm seventy years old and have been fishing since I was three. There is no better place for great advice, honest and helpful assistance from the most knowledgeable people in the business. Forget those big stores. This is the place to go. read more

I confess upfront I know nothing about fishing and I have no intention of ever going. That being said, if you need anything related to fishing, this place is great. Its been in business for over 90 years and is still family owned. They are very helpful to experts and novices alike. I went in twice so far. Once with someone who was an expert fisherman and he said they really have an outstanding selection and taught him something about some sort of rigging. The second time I went with my friend who wanted to take her kids fishing. They pointed her to a local tournament, helped her buy rods that were $50 cheaper than what we saw at Dick's, rigged them up and gave her tips on how to cast for the kids. Dee Tochterman was there and she was hilarious and apparently some sort of internationally known worm whisperer. Very Baltimore type personality. They have apparently tried to get her on tv for a show and she won't do it because she wants to give good service to her existing customers, but you can totally see how she, and the store, would make a great tv show ala Pawn Stars. read more

I normally never do this, but I have to stop and give a shout out to Tochterman's Fishing Tackle. This past weekend I had A manufacturing default in something I purchased from the store, so i called them Tochtermans and they asked me to bring it in. Without hesitation they took the product back, and within 20 minutes I was walking out of the store with not only a brand new product but an upgraded one due to the inconvenience. The level of service that this small business offers has far exceeded my expectation and they have made me a customer for life. Fishing Gear, Sunglasses, Apparel, Tips and tricks, this place is amazing. Its no wonder they have been in business for over 100 years. If you are looking for anything on the water related these guys should be your first stop! Seriously go see for yourself! read more

I sent my reel in for repair. when i received the reel back the drag knob did not click anymore. I was told the part would be ordered. I was strung along for 45 days waiting for a part that was probably never ordered. i spoke with the owner and was told to order the part myself .they had nothing to do with the drag knob not working anymore. that is BS. i use to like this place ... I am DONE... read more

Tony, Dee and the entire staff are genuine people that know everything there is to know about fishing and make your experience like no other. As a man that recently took an interest in fishing and wants to expose his young son, Tochterman's makes it easy. They are patient and have no problem teaching my son and I something new each time we stop in. My son now loves fishing and Tochterman's and ask to stop in each time we drive past the store (and we live less than a mile away). So you know how genuine the team at Tochterman's is..... My son and I stopped in this week... Brought a new rod and some other stuff we didn't need but had to have and when I got to the counter realized I left my wallet at home.... I told Dee I would be right back but she rang me up gave me a receipt and told me to take my things have fun with my son and come back before they close. Tochterman's is the best! read more
