They even have team apparel for various sports teams. You will have to dig and hunt for the sales. There are price tags that you have to read the number on to see if it's 50% off. There's a code or something to that effect which is why I said be prepared to hunt and do work. Some items were only 10% off retail price. They do have a large selection of things. Worth stopping by and trying to find deals if you have time and patience. I feel like they are trying to bamboozle people by making it seem as if this is a clearance warehouse place. Slightly cheaper than actual Dick's store on many items. Not sure I would go again as I can for sure find the shoes online much cheaper from other retailers. Would come if needed workout clothes and had time to devote to hunting. Just meh.

This is a shop that can satisfy the needs of the hipster who needs to dress up his retro a little bit, along with young professionals who want some classic flair. The shop's got a good selection of both new and old, the buying for vintage clothes is done well, and prices are very reasonable. If you wanna class up your act a little bit without breaking the bank, guys - this is a good place to stop. It's a little bit rockabilly, a little bit Mad Men, and a little bit Animal Collective. Hampden doesn't really have any other mens clothing stores (except thrift shops) so its a great addition to the neighborhood. Think of it like the sister...er..brother store to Double Dutch. Sixteen Tons also carries other man-gifts like wallets, cologne, belts, ties, hats, etc. The clothing can be quite pricey, depending on the item, but I did recently notice a sale bin! It's difficult for me to get my boyfriend to step into an actual store, or buy something vintage ("If its used, should it be cheaper?"), so its best that I come here alone and bring back what he doesn't want. I always end up asking a bunch of questions when I'm here- usually about sizing. When the owner is in the shop, he is warm and super friendly and helpful. There is another employee who always seems annoyed that I have the nerve to ask about an item; I really can't take that type of attitude. Customer service, man! I'm hesitant to dock Sixteen Tons a star because of this one guy's attitude. The owner has true vision and really caters to his clientele. He has helpful tips (more ties coming in next week!), good suggestions (how about a cool vintage belt for the guy who has everything?) and asks the right questions to really try to understand who you're buying for. He should pass these skills on to his employees!

Visiting Sheep's is a uniquely special experience. There is no website, no social media profile for this place. If you're like me, then you probably stumbled upon it while walking the more residential streets of Fells. It's so refreshing to just find a place, not to be advertised to go there. Hell, the only advertisement for this place that exists is a road sign on the corner. The store has been around for at least forty years. Charles, who was an art professor at UMD, and his wife Darcy are the only employees. They import goods from the UK and Ireland, traveling there yearly to scope out what's good. What isn't from Europe is a selection of pottery, postage, tea towels, etc from the east coast. I love their goods. Everything is quality, everything is so well sought out. Their two-tone cardigans are so cute, and they're honestly priced fair for what they are. This store is so lovely, and the effort put into sourcing the wool goods and curating the storefront is so palpable. I also love chatting with the owners. Please, please pay these guys a visit, if not for their 100% (which is rare these days) wool sweaters then for the atmosphere and the knickknacks and literally everything else.
