I don't normally leave reviews I think people value their opinions too much but we had such an amazing server (Zach) and food on Wednesday Night that we returned Monday, my wife ate the same meal twice lemon pepper trout I had the trout sampler on Wednesday and Cajun pasta on Friday both outstanding was truly one of the best meals of our week in blueridge. They loved the drip coffee - I had Diet Coke. Around the table the food eaten was the fried green tomatoes, hush puppies (OmG they are insane!), trout sandwich, Nashville hot chicken, Korean steak salad & shrimp tacos. If you like spicy you will love the hot chicken sandwich + the hush puppies. Hush puppies have jalapeño in them but not overly spicy. They were sweet too + so well made. DO NOT GO HERE. Discriminatory, rude, NOT ADA friendly, really... just not friendly at all. Not to mention the food is awful and flavorless and ridiculously overpriced. But, who am I to judge food, I'm just from Nola. We arrived at 4:30pm. Had to wait an hour and a half for terrible food. My 5y/o son, with an exceptionality, held it together so well, did amazing. Until he couldn't any longer. He got up from the table and ran. I quickly followed and guided him towards the front door to re group, only to come back to a very young waiter, who I believe was told to tell us this by the hostess.... His exact words were: 'you are going to have to get your kid under control'. At this point, my son, who was sitting quietly in my lap, was perfectly fine yet heard the entire thing. That an adult, who he didn't know, had scolded him on the very thing that his body fights against, control. The hostess, who stared at us from the moment we entered the place, was now hovering over us at the empty table next to us. It took everything within me to find a manager, which I could not find. Rather, I found a waiter who claimed to be a manager. I said my peace and walked out. Next time, perhaps you can show kindness and understanding instead of judgment and condescension. We still enjoyed the pickles and mushrooms, but I could have eaten 3 pounds of the dip!!! Toccoa River Grill was quite possibly the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. We ate there a few days ago and our food was wonderful and our waiter Charlie was excellent. We went tonight for our 25th wedding anniversary celebration. We ordered a filet mignon medium. It came out medium well to well done. We asked them to take both of our meals and recook a new steak. We wanted both of our meals to be warm and served at the same time. My wife ordered the stuffed shrimp and I ordered the steak. The waitress brought our meals back out and sat them in front of us. She said I reheated your sides. I explained that the steak is well done, even showing her pictures of what a medium cooked steak should look like. She said the cook looked at it and said it was fine. I asked to speak with a manager. A young man came out and told us he was the manager. He looked at the steak and said it was medium well. I told him yes but I didn't ordered it medium-well, I ordered it cooked medium and this had been butterflies and was well done. He said it could have gone either way, clearly not, it was cooked all the way through with no pink showing anywhere! He said well we took it off your ticket. I explained to him it was our 25th anniversary and we just wanted to have a nice meal out. We had been looking forward to eating there since our lunch there the other day. He told us we had to pay for the two sips of tea I drank. It is so ridiculous how bad their customer service is. I think giving them a 1 star is generous. Oh, and the paper menus had food on them!!! We should have read other reviews before we went because since going we learned from the locals and from other reviews that ours was not an isolated case but rather the norm, including 1 review stated that they were charged a $50 up charge because their child was fussy! We visited on a Saturday afternoon over Veterans Day weekend with a group of 9 of us and we really enjoyed this restaurant! The ambiance alone was so wonderful. We sat outside on the patio by the water and we just loved being able to hear it rushing by, it was so peaceful. Their music choice was also so enjoyable, very old-fashioned and we loved it. Fried green tomatoes? Try breaded water discs with 1% melted cheese served with a side of Ragu in a plastic cup! Yum! The actual meals were so just okay. Best thing was the pecan crusted trout, I'll give them that one. Service: above par which was nice and luckily they pre-charged tip for a party of 4, phew! Trickery was all over their "charges", sides costing more $ depending on what you paired them with, and they charged a credit card fee. Lovely lunch quite literally right beside the river. We walked in to the main restaurant/gift shop area, and when we said we wanted to eat outside, we were directed down the stairs towards that area. If you have someone in your party in a wheelchair or who has difficulty navigating stairs, you will not be able to do that. We switched tables after initially ordering beverages, because an option in the shade came up, and didn't want to burn my husband's balding head. I will say, the service was rather slow. On the slow side to be greeted, on the slow side to get beverages, but then once our appetizer came out... Of course, I wished I had ordered that and then waited before ordering entrées as they arrived soon after. Certainly not anything unforgivable, but several others had mentioned that as well. The trout dip appetizer was exceptionally good. They serve it with both crackers and sliced cucumbers, but if you need more crackers, the server offered, and happily brought those out as well. The trout sandwich was exceptional. Hubby had a burger that was good, but he opted for the other half of my sandwich, rather than finishing his burger. (by the way, that's totally OK with me, I had weight-loss surgery recently and don't eat very much. Don't think he's being rude.) The drive there was beautiful, the view at the restaurant was great, but that's about it. We ordered a Ribeye, rack of ribs, and catfish. The ribeye was ordered medium. It came out medium well + (very little pink), maybe even more well done. You couldn't even cut the ribs with a steak knife. After sending the steak and ribs back, they come back and say they are comping the ribs as they agreed they were terrible. But for the steak, they said that there was nothing wrong with it And there was nothing they would do about it. I went to the trusty Google and pulled up steak temps and showed them. They went back and got a manager. They went back to the kitchen and a waitress (not even ours) came back and said they called the owner and would comp the steak $10. Didn't even offer to recook it. She just told us, next time we need to order R or MR to get what we wanted. IMO, a steak SHOULD be cooked consistently no matter where you go. M is M! I had the ribeye and I found it flavorful and my side of fries was adequate (not terribly crispy and a small serving). The side of baby lima beans was tasty. My wife had the trout and enjoyed it, although her side of green beans were not very good and she skipped them. Our dining companions had the pork chop and the filet mignon. The thick porkchop was excellent and not dry as can sometimes happen with such a thick cut. The filet was ordered medium rare and as the diner reported some parts were rare and others were medium, unfortunately not both medium rare. It also had pickles on it which pickles are a very distinct taste for people. We then ordered our meal and I ordered a salmon salad. The smell of the salmon was disgusting upon arrival, I was concerned so I cut into it only to find it completely raw inside. A $16 salad with 4 croutons, brown lettuce, a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and what appeared to be frozen Salmon heated in the microwave. We should've read the reviews before going to this restaurant. The only thing nice about this place was the view of the river. We ordered for an appetizer fish dip and got about five crackers. We asked for a few extra crackers to finish the fish dip. When reviewing the bill they charged us $2 for five extra crackers. I ordered the salmon and the middle part of the salmon was not cooked at all. The only thing the waitress did was take the pieces of my salmon to have them put back in the grill and brought them back out. No offer to give any sort of discount. They also charge extra if you do not pay cash as a credit card fee. When we asked to see the manager about the extra cost for the crackers. The undercooked salmon, and the up charge for the credit card usage we were brought to an eight-year-old boy. Will never return to this place and do not recommend it. read more

My wife and I came here with our pups after reading that the "outdoor seating area" was pet friendly. Unfortunately the area where we sat wasn't as we hoped. We wanted to sit by the water but instead sat on an annexed porch by ourselves which was well enough since our pups were a bit more rambunctious than normal. I had the lemon pepper trout and thought it was perfectly cooked as well as very tasty. My sides of mashed potatoes and corn nuggets were also very good. My wife had the lobster pasta to which she said lacked a bit in flavor but overall she enjoyed her dish. We got the crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and they were very tasty but perhaps a bit small for the price. Overall we were happy with the food and service, but nothing wow'd us. I'd say the main reason I'm giving it 3/5 instead of 4 or 5 is the price. $66 for two people was just a bit steep for the quality of food provided. We would give this restaurant another try but it would be without the pups so that we could sit river side and we would probably try other menu options. read more

The view is great. We have been here several times and the food is usually pretty good, however I was very disappointed this time. I ordered the steak salad and got a pile of leaves out of a bag, and some steak pieces or bits. A few sliced raw squash, cucumber and a little bit of tomato. The steak was tasteless. It used to a korean recipe. The menu said it was London Broil. It was neither. My wife had the London broil which wasn't bad. She felt sorry for me and gave me some of hers. This restaurant does not take reservations or call ahead seating. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and wanted to go somewhere nice and romantic for dinner. I called ahead to let them know that we would be coming and ask the girl on the phone if there was anything she could do to ensure that we had a water side table for our special dinner. She said to just come at 4:30 and we'll see what happens. I told her that I was concerned that she would not have a table and we would have to wait. She said there was nothing she could do to help me but that they would take care of us. Not knowing where else to go, we arrived at 4:30 and of course all of the waterside tables were taken inside and out. We waited for 1 hour. There are no seats in the waiting area. Just candy shirts and kitchen towels. And an old desk with a printer that were covered in Domino's pizza boxes and trash. So we stood. There are dirty seats outside but we were dressed up. After sitting down it was explained to us that the meals come with two sides. All sides are $4 with the exception of a salad that's $4.50 and a baked potato that's $5. We asked if there was an upcharge for the baked potato and she said no that could be substituted out but the salad cannot be substituted out and that's an extra charge of $4.50. Definitely some logic missing there. We ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer. Instead of coming out chilled on ice like normal, it came out warm on lettuce. There was constant banging and clanging of dishes right next to us. Not sure why they weren't taken to the kitchen. They just kept getting thrown into bins. No straws for the drinks. No A1 for the steak. Their homemade steak sauce is spicy ketchup. My steak was ordered medium well and came out well done. Someone had made a fire down at the fire pit by the water. It was very nice, but the host took a five gallon bucket down and poured it on the fire and told the people waiting on their table that there were no fires. Of course logically I'd say then remove the fire pit or the firewood. This was just a very strange restaurant that's behind the times and has some very quirky rules. read more
