What a delight! I got to meet them infamous "rude old man" you've read about in so many of the reviews! Half our reservation was already there and when me and my sister and her husband tried to head back to meet our group, we were aggressively stopped by easily the rudest person I've ever met (and that's coming from someone who spent years in NYC). He quickly shouted, "Hey! That's my dining hall! You don't just enter someone's living room uninvited!" I told him his response was unnecessary to which he maturely spat back, "You're unnecessary." I asked him if he wanted to start this exchange over to which he responded, "Say another word and I'll kick you out." Just... wow. It's a good thing this person isn't a police officer or in any real position of authority. I told him that if that's how he wants to run his restaurant, then he needs to better train his front of house employees. That's what they're there for. The only reason I stuck around was because my other party had already ordered. We all found the food to be glorious shades of bland and brown. I will say I felt bad for the rest of the staff whom all seemed nothing but friendly, helpful, and attentive -- probably in a desperate attempt to counteract what I can only imagine it's a rather terrible work environment. Good experience! Great setting, friendly service, and some really good menu choices. Our server, Laura, made some really good recommendations for us. The halapeno hush puppies were tasty and they gave us a lot for an appetizer. The blackened chicken sandwich and country fried steak platter are both winners. You can tell everything was made with fresh ingredients. Parking is limited so be prepared to be creative making a space during crowded times. read more

My wife and I had been here before and had no complaints, however this was the last time I will set foot in this restaurant. The fried catfish I had was strong and fatty, and almost inedible. I have had better from fast food chains for less than half the price. When brought to the staff's attention, my plate was taken from me to see if the owner could do anything. I sat at the table for for 20 minutes without any food for the owner to say that he would not budge on swapping dishes or taking the plate off of the bill. I only did 2 stars because 2 out of the 5 people eating with us enjoyed 1/2 of their meal. So, I'm being generous. The food? Frozen carnival food. The service? Adequate, but only if the "Owner" isn't around. The Owner? Angry little old man who accused the customer of ordering the wrong temperature and only took it off our bill after we got loud in the restaurant. We popped in for lunch around the Christmas holiday after looking around Blue Ridge for something new. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived and we were immediately seated on the back porch because we requested a view of the river directly behind the restaurant. This place has a spectacular view of the river and it is worth going just for that. Trout seemed the thing to get so we went with almond trout and pecan crusted. We chose a variety of sides so we could sample each. Overall, the trout was excellent. My only negative comment would be that the pecan crusted trout came with a sweet butter on top that over powered the fish and made it too sweet for my taste - I would get butter on the side or not at all. Almond trout was excellent. The sides were nothing special, we didn't have anything that stood out, perhaps because most fresh vegetables are not in season this time of year? Maybe during the summer season, sides improve. Service was excellent. Not career servers, think more roadside restaurant. Bottom line for me was 3 star food and a 5 star view so let's split the difference. read more

This was a horrible experience with horrible customer service . We ordered several appetizers , the stuffed mushrooms were very small that the server even commented she never saw them so small. We asked about the king crab special for 42.00 for a lb. we specifically asked the server if they would be opened so we could just pull the meat out she assured us it was . It arrived uncracked and no utensils to try and open . Our sides were ice cold and we asked to speak to our server who never returned . Are we're able to find a bus boy and asked to speak to a manager . The manger came to our table listened to us explain what happened and she said ok she took our sides and returned about 15 minutes later with our sides , we asked what we should do about the crab legs ( they are very spiny and hard to crack ) she said she is waiting to hear back from the owner . We flagged her down again and asked to have her take them back as our spouses had completed their meal. Great dinner spot for enjoying the river. We sat outside. It was a bit cold but they turned on the heaters bc we asked. We had a party of 5. 3 of us got the pecan encrusted trout (see picture- with corn nuggets and turnip greens), 1 got smoked trout and 1 had shrimp scampi. Trout was very good. If you like smoked fish, the smoked trout was really good. Shrimp scampi was skimpy. It only had 6 shrimp. Rolls were very tasty. Honey mustard salad dressing was really good. Should have followed the reviews and not came here. And listen to your fellow Yelp elites. I ordered the ribeye and for the price it was very disappointing. Reminded me of the steaks you get from Waffle House. And it came out room temperature. Our waitress makayla seemed inconvenienced by our group of 8. Never offered a refill on my son's sprite. I think we were supposed to get dinner rolls but that never came. Don't waste your time here. Very disappointing. My first one star rating. read more

Some of the food was very cold and looked days old. Absolutely the blandest food. Would not go back or recommend.

We entered this restaurant after finding a parking spot. While waiting to be seated we just enjoyed watching the river. As we were seated our server TRACY asked if we had seen the daily specials. She then told us what the specials were. After informing her of an allergy to citrus she checked with the cooking staff and returned to inform us of dishes that were marinated with lemon or lime. We ordered the smoked fish spread and pasta dishes. I'm not sure if we were more impressed by the service or the food. Great place at any time read more

You never know what to expect when you read reviews from 5 stars to 1 star. Friends had recommended this place so we took a chance. It was a good experience. Waited about 20 minutes for a table. Once seated Ashley our server took very good care of us. Especially since they are way under staffed. Offering $40.000 a year to wait on tables. I had the seafood platter. A little too much breading, but once I got below that the food was quite good. My wife had a pork chop which I will finish for supper tomorrow. I give the wait staff 5 stars as they were busting their butts taking care of everyone. Even the manager was busing tables and taking orders. Worst service ever. DO NOT eat at this restaurant. From the minute we walked in the door the employees were rude. It took forever for a server to come to the table. We waited an hour for an appetizer and there was a hair in the crab cake. Wait it gets better. Another 15 minutes and we decided to bail. We explained the situation and wanted to pay for the drinks. Coming from FL, wife hesitated ordering the fried jumbo shrimp but her server Maddy said she wouldn't be disappointed... she was spot on. Perfectly Prepared...lighted battered with speck of seasoning. On point! Corn fritters crispy outside with fresh corn flavor. Ended the tasty main course with peach cobbler - two scoops of french vanilla IC. Yum yum! Maddy was excellent in every way.... even made fresh decaf coffee - I think I'm the only one who drinks decaf coffee these days! Oh well.. it was hot and fresh .. thanks Ms Maddy... you're the best. I have eaten here several times and never had a problem... until today. My son, who has lived in Japan (military) was in town visiting. My daughter in law wanted a nice place to eat with a river view. So, obviously, I recommended TRR. We called ahead and explained that we had a party of 7 and wanted outdoor river view seating. We were told that was no problem, they would be happy yo serve us. So, we drove the 45 minute drive, hoping for a nice I riverside meal. Upon arriving, the hostesses informed us that there was no outdoor seating available. Once I confronted her and told her we specifically wanted outdoor, she said she would check and see what she could do. She came back and told us there was only one outdoor table that could accommodate a party of 7 and that would be an hour wait. So, we politely agreed to wait the hour. We sat outside by the river while we waited. About 20 minutes into our wait, we were told our table was ready. We were taken to our table only to find that they had divided us up between 2 tables. There was a HUGE empty table that could accommodate us all, just a few steps away, off by itself. I requested that table and was told no. So, I asked for the manager and boy what a mistake that was!! The manager ended up being the owner, TTIM RICHTER, and I've never been treated so rudely!! He came out yelling and screaming at me and told me that if I didn't like it that I could just leave!! I was in total shock!! I REALLY wanted to leave but since I was with a group, I wanted to keep the drama to a minimum. A scene had already been made and I didn't want to make it worse. After reading other reviews, I see that TIM RICHTER behaves this way quite frequently. Even one of the girls working there apologized to me and said "this happens all of the time". TIM RICHTER has anger issues and should really find another profession where he doesn't have to deal with the public. read more

The manager, Tim, called the sheriff on us. The Experience started out okay and progressively got worse. A member of our party ordered a steak medium rare, which means a hot, red center. When the steak came, it was well done, so she sent it back. This request was met with resistance, so she ordered scallops as a replacement. 25 minutes later, all the rest of us had finished eating and her food had still not arrived. We spoke with the manager, Tim, to let them know we were displeased and got a smarmy attitude, stand-offishly denying they'd done anything wrong. When scallops finally arrived, Tim brought them out and sarcastically said "everyone enjoy watching her eat them." He said this because we'd mentioned that to him before they came out. We'd all already finished eating. My country fried steak was also overcooked and tough, as was my Dad's. When the bill came out, we'd been charged for the steak. Tim didn't charge us for the scallops, saving us a whopping $3. When we confronted Tim and asked to have the entree comped, which is a completely reasonable request, considering how late it was, Tim got defensive. He denied the steak had been overdone. He denied the scallops were late. He said the restaurant wouldn't comp the meal. Then he threatened to call the police. So I said "go ahead." The police came and Tim told them we were trying to leave without paying, which is a lie. We were then forced by the police to pay for the meal. The police said it wasn't their first time being calked there, which to me means Tim is doing this routinely to customers. Toccoa Falls restaurant was a horrible experience. If the owners have any sense they'll fire the inept Tim and get a real restaurant manager into position at what could be a super nice restaurant location. read more

Terrible experience here. The food is so-so and prices on the high side. The river view is the main attraction. We are in a global pandemic and so it's now rare for us to eat out. I asked our waitress why her face mask wasn't covering her nose and she gave me a bizarre answer. When we got ready to leave, I asked the manager why the waitstaff weren't wearing masks properly, and he started yelling at me angrily. It was the strangest and most belligerent response I've ever encountered, anywhere. He literally told me to leave and implied that I was being completely unreasonable. Come for the view and the ambiance, understand it's a North Georgia roadside restaurant with average bar food at best. This is the resurrection of the Toccoa restaurant that burned down some time ago. While not in the center of Blue Ridge like other dining options, it is a fun little drive down curvy mountain roads to a brand spanking new Cabin of a restaurant. We were certainly impressed with the facility and decor, not to mention the fabulous outside decking and views of the river. You can even walk down to the lower levels of the decking to relax riverside while waiting on a table. Also, get your picture in the gigantic yellow chair. The bar is separate from the dining areas and features a nice selection of drafts and wines. Couple tv's going and honestly not a bad place to hang out and enjoy a pint while waiting on the table or just coming out to grab a cocktail on the river. The food is hit and miss. It's not as horrific as the reviews led me to believe, and there were some surprises that did impress. On the whole, though... it's fairly remedial fare for the price. Surprisingly good: Salmon Dip House salad (especially the plating and presentation) Vegetarian Tomato Basil Pasta (wasn't expecting much, was the best dish out of our table of 9) Desserts (the fruit pie was amazing, see picture) Stay away from: Calamari (essentially bathed in buffalo wing sauce) The "breaded" trouts (I came for the trout, it's their signature dish... and "pecan crusted" apparently means breaded and pan fried) Go for the broiled or lighter lemon sauces. With as fresh as this local fish is, the lack of simplicity and execution here really hampered my opinion of the place. Ironically, they are trying too hard with this fish. Sometimes, simple is better. Let me taste the trout! On the whole, the food here resembled slightly good bar fare rather than the "tastes" the menu's prices suggest. It's not as horrible as some of the reviews indicate, but could really be so much more with a little discipline and a lot less saucing. Our service here was exceptional, though a bit youthful and inexperienced. However, the attitudes more than made for a pleasant evening. Parking spaces are sparse and on a busy weekend evening can require lots of creative street parking. Given its a resort style area, this was to be expected. Wi-Fi was very frustrating. Most of us had little to no cell service in this area and thus connected to the wireless to plug in real quick while waiting on the table. The coverage and throughput were horrific. If you're going to offer it, either make sure it works or turn it off. These little omissions to detail all add up. Given the other options in the area and the uniqueness of the view, I'll certainly return and encourage others to give it a try. read more

We ate here with my family. There was 8 of us all together, 5 adults and 3 kids. The food was not good at all and cold and we could tell pretty easily especially since my granddaughter who eats everything refused to eat shrimp and green beans, her favorite back home. Her PopPop tried them and said they are salty and nasty and the green beans were tough. The granddaughter with a salad refused it and she loves salad. The duck was tough, 2 were bought, and the burger was okay but they couldn't get it right because our waitress couldn't do her job and put it in the computer correctly. The beer was$9 each, yeah that's right, On top of that they automatically charge you an 18% gratuity. I'm the type of person that will leave you 20% or more but don't go ahead and add your tip and this waitress was sorry. We had to ask several times for things , including tea and drinks, ketchup (just simple things a waitress should know, and she was rude to my grandbaby. Don't be rude. But when your adding the tip to the bill I guess you can treat your customers rudly and get your tip too. I told them up front she didn't deserve a tip of the magnitude that was on the bill. And before anyone says she was busy. She had 4 tables and 2 was ours put together so no she was not busy she was LAZY. And the whole staff was no different. There was a family outside with a blind lady that needed jumping off and we seen this car when we got there but thought they are waiting on family but when we got outside after the meal they were still there. Had been there 3 hours. Yes it took us 2 and a half hours to get our meals and half of it was cold. But these people at this restaurant would not help this older couple and their daughter jump their car off. We got them back on the road as s the last was crying she was so happy. How hard would it of been for ONE employee to jump this family off. Just one. I couldn't understand this. I know what restaurant not to go to again. Not only was the food bad but the service was bad and rude. And yes I told her she didn't deserve her tip at all. My oldest daughter got embarrassed and mad at me but you know what I done waitress work for a living before she was ever born and if I wanted my tips I earned them they weren't forced at 18% or any other percent for that matter on a bill. I made sure the customer was happy and had drinks and the table was clean. She couldn't even clear the empty dishes that I stacked. My youngest daughter also waitresses for 3 years in high school and she even said she does not deserve a tip what so ever with her attitude and her service. And I'm still mad about my granddaughter crying because of her rude behavior towards her. Just go to a different place and be happier. You can't even get a smile from these people. Honestly, I'm really surprised by all the bad reviews. My wife and I dropped in here for lunch after a nearby hike and had a great hour relaxing by their waterfront. We both thought the trout and coleslaw were really good. The manager (didn't catch the woman's name) was really kind and attentive from the time we got in. It was an absolutely perfect day to be outside and this restaurant has a ton of outdoor seating options. We sat on the porch with our dog for half the time and ate our meal by the river on the doc for the other half. It wasn't very crowded when we got there, so maybe that really helped our experience, but I'd definitely go back here. The parking lot is a bit small and awkward on the road, so I can see how during peak season this could make getting in a bit stressful. But at the end of a long morning of hiking, having this option for lunch (and I think it's about the only option) was the carry on top. read more

One of my favorite spots when in Blue Ridge. The staff were extremely friendly and the views from the table are fantastic (ask to outside on the deck, if it's available). We had the blackened trout, which was great, as well as the smoked trout tip-- which was fantastic. Since we split the fish, we also had a salad and a cup of tomato artichoke soup. I felt like the soup lacked something, but it wasn't bad. They also have a nice selection of beers and wines. They also did a pretty decent job of keeping people socially distanced. We had calamari as an appetizer and each ordered a version of crusted trout. I had pecan crusted trout with pecan butter, whole green beans, and Caesar salad. We both enjoyed our meal and feel we made a great choice by coming here. We thought it was a risk after reading the reviews, but we are happy we ignored them. I have eaten many places and wouldnt go back here out of principle. First, i told them i cant eat bacon and my dish had bacon in it. Second, the timing of the food was wrong. I waited 1 hour for a drink and appetizer. When the appetizer came out, 2 minutes later the main fish came. Third, the food was strictly okay. I already had issues because they name dropped gordon ramsay, but it was just okay, bit xefinately not worth the 2 hours we spent there. They don't offer straws with any drink claiming people throw them in the river. Definitely make sure you go outside and around to the river for a scenic stop and photos. This restaurant gets five stars for location and setting, but the food for me left a little to be desired. The setting is very scenic, right next to the Toccoa river, and it's really pleasant to sit on their outdoor deck and look out over the river while you eat The restaurant is off the beaten path, about 10 miles out of Blue Ridge. To get there, you need to drive about 8 miles on a very scenic two lane highway. The restaurant seemed fairly large, with many different rooms, but when I first came there were just a few other people there. Business, though, picked up quite a bit after I sat down for my early lunch. I had a blackened chicken sandwich. It was OK, but nothing too special, and the price was a little high for what you get. It was a little heavy on honey mustard sauce that they put on it. You get either fries or cole slaw--I opted for the cole slaw, which was also OK. I've had much better sandwiches for less than the $11 that sandwich cost me. Their specialty, though, is trout, so I might have had better luck with that. They have a number of beer and wine selections. There were about eight or so craft beers on tap. I ordered a Cotton Tail Pale Ale, which was pretty good, and I thought the $5 price was pretty good, until I saw that it wasn't a full pint that they served, but more like 8 or 12 ounces. There was no problem with the service. The servers were prompt and friendly. There are so few restaurants in the greater Atlanta area with as nice a setting as this one--I think it's worth a visit for that reason. read more
