The hot chocolate was certainly worth it - it's valrohna and basically the best I've ever had that wasn't the very thick Spanish/Italian variety (twss). It was also nice and warming on a crisp day, as were the heaters and thoughtful furry chair liners and blankets in the outside seating area. I was strongly recommended the brew special but actually I think I would have preferred something like my friend had - the chorizo folded eggs i.e. with a little more kick. The brew special is a classic combo of ham, cheese and pesto which I loved years ago but now wouldn't be my first choice. Still it was well executed with beautifully cooked poached eggs on sourdough bread. Our breakfast took a long time to come but the service was otherwise notably excellent - our server was attentive, friendly and helpful consistently, meaning we had constant water top ups, updates on the food situation and were able to get the bill quickly before our parking ran out. She was great and an asset to this nice cafe.

Their menu has a lot to choose from, I've had the eggs florentine and the turkish eggs on a separate occasion. Very delicious and fresh, presumably using top quality ingredients. The atmosphere is pretty neat too, love the cabin-like feel on a cold day. I recommend for breakfast, well done Brew!

Located on the trendy Abbeville Road area of Clapham, he has certainly hit the nail on the head as far as what the local population want in terms of brunch offerings judging from the crowds there on the Sunday I visited I was happy that I booked a table for my first date with my girlfriend to avoid said crowds even though we were politely ejected from our table at 3pm There is an innovative lineup of dishes for brunch, reflecting the chef's penchant for British cuisine. The girlfriend and I decided to go with the small plates Well, Chef Byatt has done it again. Flavour is his watchword and we enjoyed a variety of dishes with clear, bold and distinctive flavours My favourite was the potted brown crab and the rabbit pate. Rich, round flavours with satisfying umami content. The black pudding sausage roll was a revelation - nice sausagemeat with black pudding filling with a thin layer of crispy pastry. Devils on horseback combined sweet prunes with salty bacon, a classic combo The only slight disappintment was that the mac n cheese could have done with more cheese We would have loved to have tried some dessert but ran out of time

So I came here weith two friends for Sunday brunch, and I ordered a roast duck whereas they ordered the Spanish omelette and bavette steak. (The bavette steak looked AMAZING by the way, I would definitely get that next time. The mushroom ketchup was also very unique, definitely worth a try.) We also got a round of bucks fizz/bloody mary. But then there was some miscommunication in the kitchen, so they brought out my friends' dishes but didn't bring mine out for more than 5 minutes after, so I had to ask about it, after which I was promised it in another 5 minutes. So in the meantime, they brought out a free large plate of chips. Then when my meal did come out, the chef came to personally apologize and offered us free ice cream after if we wanted any. The manager also came over a short while later and offered us another round of drinks on the house (we accepted of course). So at the end of the day, we got free sides, drinks, and dessert for a 10 minute delay. And the ice cream is SO good- we had marzipan and honeycomb and a berry vanilla, homemade and in the cutest little jar. Must have! Then after all that, they also took off the service charge from the bill! What unbelievable staff. The food is great but the staff definitely made the experience. Will definitely come back and hope to see the same people again!

The most impressive aspect of Lamberts though is the price. It's a Michelin level restaurant (although it doesn't have it's star...yet) but it's incredibly good value. Yes, local and seasonal have become almost ubiquitous anywhere smarter than Starbucks (only because we can't grow coffee though, I suspect), but here the food is beautifully presented and tasty which is just as important to make it work. We went for a mid-week dinner which is an absolute bargain at £25 for 3 courses. My boyfriend ordered a la carte, essentially to be able to get cheese at the end. Everything was lovely - fantastic gnocchi in particular (though these may have stuck in my mind since my own pursuit of creating the perfect gnocchi has hit a brick wall and I can't get past just ok), with fresh wild mushrooms and some salady stuff. I think I had pork belly because it came with black pudding - my usual achilles heel for ordering - and it was a good not-too-heavy portion. Service was fast but not rushed, etc. etc. The spiral staircase to the toilets can be daunting after 2 glasses of wine. I do wish they'd make more of the bar though, it would be a lovely place to have a quiet drink methinks.
