First thing, my wife and I have been here several times in the past and I loved the breakfast. Today was horrific... My wife's sandwich was gross, the avocado was black and gray-ish, lettuce was nasty and wilted. The burger was over cooked and I specifically asked for medium rare. Our server was Lael and she seemed like a nice enough person but she was not on top of anything today. Food was slow, pushing drinks on people that didn't want them and did not appear the least concerned for the few customers left. 4 tables, two had their food and one was finishing. 30 minutes to get our food when the place was dead, one table to cook for and it took too long. Last week was my 60th birthday and my wife wanted to treat me to a special breakfast. I can tell you that she found the perfect spot in Calabash called Toasted! Not only was the server perfect, but the food and menu choices are out of this world. Ive never seen a fried filet mignon on any menu before, and i probably never will. It's a must try. The funny thing is I'm sure we have more in common than not. But thanks for trying to ruin a small business that feeds a family. I was at this restaurant 3/13/22 Ordered a 3 egg omlette w sausage and bacon with cheddar cheese and mozzarella, accompanied with toast and home fries and a bloody Mary for my beverage. My omlette was cold as well as my toast. I couldn't get the attention of my waitress to discuss this situation. I decided to leave my personal review of this restaurant and my experience the above statement is what the owner replied back, talk about unpleasant and rude, trying to make me out the bad guy. We didn't end up getting to eat here after a bizarre interaction with the owner who was quite rude and unkind. I'd brought my water cup in with me as is my habit, I take it everywhere. When he came over to tell us about the menu he let me know that I couldn't have it in there since he has a liquor license so I immediately asked my husband for the car keys so that I could go put it in the car, as I was getting up from the table I just said something like, oh okay I've never come across that before, I take it everywhere. He immediately took on a very aggressive demeanor and started talking about how it's his business and he's not going to put it at risk etc. Understandable of course, which is why I got up right away to put it in the car. I didn't quite process how rude he was until I was half way to the car since it was so unexpectedly rude, especially coming from the proprietor. By the time I got back from the car the rest of my family was already coming out the door. Apparently my mother in law told him after I left that he didn't have to be rude, it was clearly just a comment of explanation (I was not rude or unpleasant). Then he was even ruder and said something about how we were free to eat somewhere else if we had a problem. The best word to describe the interaction was bizarre. Hard to believe a business can remain successful when it's the proprietor acting so aggressive and unkind. read more

Had a wonderful experience! Service was prompt, food was EXCELLENT! Nick and Sherrie were fantastic!!! My Hubby ordered the Creamscicle Fizz and it was delish! And oooo the Applebutter Biscuit Bottom was amazing! Kiddo ordered the French toast and she loved it! I had a taste of the Pimmento Cheese and it was a rich and spicy flavor. We had one of the best breakfasts at Toasted in years. So many selections to consider & all freshly made from scratch daily. My fried chicken with scrambled eggs did more than just fill my belly. The taste was out of this world to the point I was nearly licking the plate while the rest of my party was about half way through their meal. Coffee was delicious - great taste, fresh & hot. Lots of great food for a very attractive price. And the service will spoil you rotten. We will return soon & bring more family & friends to help introduce them to this local treat. Don't drive by...there were only a few cars in the lot so we weren't sure why. So glad we gave it a try. We ordered an Amazing omelet served with biscuit and side of potatoes. So delish! It came with 4 berry sauce on top that might not be everyone's thing but the fillings were spectacular. We also ordered the pineapple upside down pancakes and I think they were pretty spectacular. I'm pretty sure they were right up there with best ever! Service was friendly. Orders did not take long. We would definitely go back. Lots of choices on the menu whether for breakfast or lunch. We went here this morning and it was good! The service was great we sat outside on the picnic tables that had umbrellas. It is family owned and the little boy who's going into first grade is so cute and eager to help. The food was good, I highly recommend the pineapple upside down pancakes. Also the sausage! We understand it is hard to top a place like sunrise pancake House but they did a great job. Thanks for that, toasted! read more

We had a truly outstanding breakfast at Toasted yesterday. They have all the usual breakfast items but also a number of gourmet options. My wife had pancakes and sausage patties, which were very good. I had the Awakened Bacon Biscuit Bottoms which were fantastic as well as unique. They also have a great bar with a wide variety of local, national and international beers and a strong whiskey menu (see the photo below)! We will be back anytime we are at Sunset Beach, Calabash or North Myrtle. read more

I would give them no star if I could. We had reservations for three at 10:30. Didn't get our food for an hour and a half. Drinks didn't come until after 30 minutes. When the food arrived it wasn't warm. One meal wasn't even what we ordered. The table next to us ordered a chicken salad and waited forever too. When the salad came, the cook had forgotten to put the chicken in the salad. A table with 10 in their party was seated after us, served and left by the time our meal arrived, same waiter. If you have to go anywhere in the southern NC/North Myrtle area THIS IS IT. Staff? Amazing. Mimosas? Incredible. Awaken Bacon Filet Sandwich? PERFECT. Their owner sat to talk to us like he had known us for years. He noticed our filet was a little over-cooked in the back so he personally cooked a second portion and gave us both for no extra charge. He even brought us an extra portion of bacon for our dog when we mentioned he would get some of my fries for leftovers. The awaken bacon filet mignon sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had - absolutely worth it. The berry glaze coupled with the bacon/onion marmalade was delicious! Great little family find. Been here for breakfast but this time tried lunch. I had the Awakened Bacon with chicken as a salad and was not disappointed. The combination of flavors was wonderful. Mom had the same but as a sandwich and loved it. The hubby had Awakened Bacon with Philly steak as tacos and again loved them. Haven't tried the Mimosas yet but can't wait. We will definitely be back often. Sooo happy it's local for us. It's so nice to see it's owned by a young family that care about its guests and the community. I was hugely disappointed. Twice. First time, I was seated and waited over 10 minutes - no server appeared. So I left. I decided to try again, as everyone has an "off" day or short-staffed day. Next time, I was seated in the back room which is really a bar. The bartender was speaking with a patron the entire time I waited...again. I felt invisible. Left once again. Horrible experience! Had a 10:30 reservation got coffee at 10:40 was asked to be patient because our waitress wasn't really a waitress. Ok no problem, I get it. But at 11:34 still no food. I asked her she came out of the kitchen and told me the "chef" told her the ticket didn't go in until 10:50- well- that was 43 minutes ago and we are talking breakfast. But no apology for the delay. At 11:40 we told the girl we were leaving. It had been more then an hour. The chef came out with our food and started arguing about how long it had taken. Not really into arguing - no thank you! I do not know what the food taste like, but if you are of color and you want to be seated way in the back next to the back door this is the place to go. I am a senior, parked in a handycap spot right at the front door, I limped in, my friend had a brace on his knee. We were walk ito the very back of the restaurant by the young hostess and she was going to seat us at the back door. I spoke up and asked why we were not seated at the front of the restaurant, she told me she wanted to fill the back up. Not on my watch, I got loud and walked out.
