Found this wonderful little deli while visiting north Myrtle Beach. It was about a 25 min drive and so worth it!! I ordered the #3- Reuben's with gluten free bread, this was so delicious!! The sweet potato fries are crispy and great as well. My son ate the macaroni salad and loved it!! They have so many sides to choose from and a delicious looking bakery case as well!! The service was wonderful and quick. We ate out on their patio and it was clean and comfortable! Go check it out!! Highly recommend! read more

Very easy to find, but parking is an issue as would be expected. They actually have a decent amount of paved parking available but are often quite busy. There are a few spaces in front of the door and more along the side of the building. We wound up parking in the rear across an alley in a grassy lot marked for parking. Turn to the right after you enter and go along the counter. There are two ordering stations depending on how busy they are. You will walk past their pastry cabinet so be prepared to increase your order. There is no designated waiting area after you place your order so try to find a place out of the way. There is a dedicated pick up window when they call your number. Pay attention to the numbers as they are called as the food is ready which is not necessarily in sequence. A better choice would be to call ahead as you will be able to pick up your order at the first part of the counter avoiding a lot of waiting. Seating is various tables. There is an outside seating area as well. Everything is pretty crowded together and if you are eating inside expect there will be other customers standing nearby waiting for their orders. We waited about 15 minutes for our order to be called. They have daily specials and the one when we were there was a bbq brisket sandwich with tater tots. There was a good amount of brisket on the sandwich. The meat was flavorful but not the best bbq I have had. The tots were cooked perfectly and piping hot. The roast beef melt was excellent with plenty of meat on an excellent bun. The bread was slightly crunchy outside and soft inside. Of course, standing by the pastry cabinet as we waited to order caused a white chocolate raspberry scone, a piece of baklava, a French toast muffin, and a pumpkin spice muffin to follow us home. All were excellent, with the French toast muffin and the white chocolate raspberry scone earning top praise. The staff was very friendly even though they were quite busy. Calabash Deli deserves to be on the list of top places to try when in the area. read more

We're new to the area and wanted a corned beef sandwich to celebrate St Patrick's day! My wife and I each ordered a Ruben sandwich and I also ordered the Split Pea soup as a side! Service was awesome! Small, clean typical deli vibe going on! While waiting for our sandwiches, we noticed that they have homemade salads so we got a Couscous salad and German potato salad for lunch tomorrow (I had to taste test the German Potato salad and loved it)! Stopped here today for lunch with a group. Got the black and blue - it was turkey and blue cheese and lettuce tomato onion on a croissant. Something different and tasty! Not too big but very satisfying. I also got a side of onion rings which were great! They have tater tots and fries as side options too. They have a range of breakfast and lunch sandwiches and deli sides and pastries. Food was ready fast and there's seating indoors and outside on a patio. First time to Calabash Deli, but won't be the last. I grew up in north Jersey and this place is legit! Three of us stumbled upon this deli while on our way to do a little shopping in Calabash. My friend ordered the calabash club, and the other ordered the grilled cheese and chicken pot pie soup. Both really enjoyed their sandwiches and the soup was plentiful enough for a second helping the next day. I had the roast beef melt and it was absolutely delicious!! Everything made fresh including breads. To go we ordered the salted caramel cookie (which didn't make it past the parking lot lol), the French toast and triple berry muffin and a loaf of bread. There's a reason the line is long and the parking lot is full when you drive by to stop here for something to eat. Stopped here for a sandwich and was pretty excited to learn they had several types of gluten free bread I could choose from. I ordered a Rueben and it was perfection. The corned beef was shaved and delicious. The sandwich was balanced with flavor and piled high. It's all about the dressing in a Reuben and it was spot on. The bread was toasted well. Calabash Deli is fantastic! It's got a great selection of meal options, as well as a variety of cookies and salads to purchase by the pound. The staff is friendly and as fast as possible considering how busy it always is. It is very small inside, but has a nice outdoor seating area as well for those who wish to dine in. My husband and son both had a burger and said that was one of the best they'd had in a while. I had the Reuben, which was one of the best I've ever had. My other two sons had hot dogs. They loved the buns, which were far more substantial than your standard hotdog bun. If you're in the mood for a good sandwich, this place is sure to please. read more

The All American In 7" Sub roll was loaded with the meats and cheeses. Could only eat half of it and saved other half for next day. The Philly Cheesesteak was made just like in Philly just the steak and cheese as well as mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Both very delicious and filling. It was good, but I felt the tuna salad could have used a little extra Mayo for my taste. Was a tiny bit on the dry side, but the flavor was really good. Macaroni salad was good - perfect balance of sweet and tangy. I like that you can order different sizes, so I ordered the smallest cup just to get a taste. My friend ordered the Godfather. I have loved this place since I moved here almost 3 years ago. The salads, the sweets, soups and sandwiches have always been great. They have a shrimp Thai chili wrap that is so good. Ever since the business was sold, I have seen the quality go down hill. The BLT was my favorite and that was full of bacon and tasty lettuce. Now, not so much. It was a pleasure to have a New York style deli in Calabash. I was briefly in town and needed something to hold me over so I got an open faced Reuben and I was pleasantly surprised. I was also given a brief history of this establishment and lo and behold, the owner transplanted the Big Apple to N.C. and after a 10 and a half hour drive, I couldn't have been more satisfied. If you order a sandwich here, prepare for confusion and delay. Without asking, they'll toast it by default, adding 13 extra minutes to your wait. So if toasted, expect to spend 20 minutes waiting for a sandwich that my blind grandfather could make in three. Now, let's talk about the service. Each time I've been here, I've been met with unprovoked attitude from at least one person behind the counter. They don't even have hot sauce... lol . The girl at the counter is not giving attitude but doesn't seem to be adding anything to the mix either. But also.. siracha is the only hot sauce u have in a delicious down south. Yikes The tattoo girl who makes the sandwiches makes it look like a grueling sacrifice. To be fair, the manager has always been respectful and professional--but today, even that wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the experience. The real kicker, though, is the menu system. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are assigned the exact same numbers. So there's a #1 on the breakfast menu, and a different #1 on the lunch menu. Which means unless you specify which menu you're ordering from--and somehow know there's more than one--you'll likely end up with the wrong order. This could easily be avoided with a simple fix: number breakfast 1-10, lunch 11-20. Done. Problem solved. But instead, the burden is put on the customer to decode the system--and when you get it wrong, you're made to feel like it's your fault for not knowing how their menu works. I don't mind waiting a few extra minutes. I don't even mind a mistake now and then. But when the default energy is attitude, and the system is built to confuse, that's where I draw the line. I won't be back. And if anyone ever asks about this place, I'll tell them it's a great spot--if you're in the mood to feel like the dumbest person in a room full of people who designed a sandwich menu with copy-paste logic. It's just sad to see someone so miserable making my sandwich every morning . And to be honest, her fucking miserable attitude leaves me sad the rest of the day makes me uncomfortable to say the least, and the sandwiches were never great, but the bad service was definitely great. So today when she finally got my fucking order right she did not forget to give me a sly rude comment when dropping off the sandwich that I did not miss order... You guys miss labeled this is my third time there I did not know your system, but tattoo woman. Thinks it's OK to be rude to customers because of your shitty system that you created... I am not someone who leaves yelp reviews but this time I am making sure that everybody knows because now when someone reads this review and goes into your place they're gonna see this tattoo girl Hating her life... We went to the Calabash Deli and had two very good sandwiches. Roast beef and an Italian sub. The place was very busy. We ordered and waited 20 minutes but it was worth the wait. I have had thicker sandwiches for the price but these were sufficient. There are baked goods, plenty of selections for drinks and chips. Inside and outside seating. There was a lot of takeout activity. Parking was sufficient. All were friendly including the guests. I would recommend this deli to stop and grab a sandwich. What a treat as you enter town. It is on the busy thoroughfare. We stopped in around noon and there was a line but service was fast. Deli meats, home made deli salads, fresh bakery items and bagels. We were there eating dinner and an employee brought a box of ice from the kitchen, and he opened the box which had bags of ice and the employees threw the bag of ice into the nasty floor to break the ice apart!!! It made me sick as soon as I saw them do this! The floors are nasty because people have walked into the restrooms where there are poop and pee and who knows what else on the floor and they get that on their shoes!!! The floor is nasty!!! Don't break ice on the floor!!! Hairs and other foreign objects get stuck to the bag and then it winds up in the drinks!!! So not sanitary!!! Would think twice before eating there again!!! read more
