We hand a bit of a wait, but that was to be expected since it was a nice (but very hot) day out. The patio was busy but not packed. The hostess was aware that we had a large dog, but still placed us in a very odd spot on the patio - with high rise tables squished together. We also had a decent amount of sun, so we couldn't stay long as it was just too hot and we didn't have a lot of space. They did also seat an elderly woman at the high top table behind us, who came in with a walker. I found that odd too - to make her try ti climb up in the chairs. Thankfully we were there to help her. Service was ok. Our waitress visited our table a few times at first but then disappeared for a long time before we could get another drink or eventually our check. Aside from the seating and most of the service, our visit was fine. Food was good. My drink was very strong but still fine. It was definitely a different experience than i remember from the past, so I was a tad disappointed. I should have asked to be moved, but we had waited so long already, I didn't want to wait more.

The pork steak was MASSIVE, bone-in, and incredibly tender--it literally broke in half when I picked it up to box the leftovers! The cornbread that came with it was moist and savory rather than overly sweet, which I really enjoyed. We also tried the garlic shrimp appetizer. The shrimp themselves were clearly good quality and cooked perfectly, but the sauce was a little underwhelming and could have used more flavor. It definitely wasn't a complete miss, though, because the shrimp weren't overcooked and still had a great flavor on their own. Between the lively atmosphere, great service, quick food, and generous portions, we had a really enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back!

If you're a baby to spicy things, I guess you can build up your spice tolerance in this location!

What I received were 4 pretty thick (1/2") pieces of brisket. In the past if I ordered the 8oz I would get about 6 normal sliced pieces. The brisket was pretty dry this time with not much fat. I added some sauce and it was ok, but not what I was expecting at all and I ended up just tossing the last slice. The 2 sides I got were baked beans (very good) and mac & cheese (also good) but the size was pretty small.

He serves great St. Louis backyard style BBQ prepared in a couple barrel pits. He prepares several meats every day he is there and has a number of sides. Today I tried his ribs, his brisket, his pulled chicken, and chicken thigh. All had good smoke flavor and were well cooked and seasoned. I really enjoyed the chicken thigh and the ribs. Don't get me wrong the other items were good, but I enjoyed those 2 the most. I'm not a fan of pulled chicken, I've noted that previously, but Mr. J's pulled chicken was right good. He puts a little of his se'lah gold sauce with it and some sautéed peppers and onions. That makes for good flavor. The reason for the 4 not 5 stars is minor. I had several slices of brisket on my plates and the first slice I picked up while nicely smokey and well seasoned was tough. However, every other slice was perfectly tender indicating a proper cook. I only tried his Se'lah Original Sauce. But let me tell you he has a wonderful quintessential St. Louis style BBQ sauce in that. Man is it good. I get to KFM often during the summer. The ribs were perfectly smoked using on site smokers. The ribs were very, very tender. I didn't count the number of ribs on my rib plate but it was very generous compared to a sit-down restaurant. He offers a variety of sides and I chose the potato salad and the coleslaw. Both were excellent, with decent sized portions.

You know, maybe it's just a Bandana's thing - and I just don't like it…read more Bandana's is a BBQ restaurant like someone that knows BBQ well tried explaining it to a tribesman in a South American rainforest and him opening up a restaurant. It's just not really a real BBQ place. I understand that a lot of people like it, and more power to them. But it's just not our style. Often the brisket has a lot of fat. And not the good rendered fat, just plain old fat. I've more than a few times experienced that there is little to no bark on the meat. I'm a big fan of ribs and these I find disappointing. They almost always lack in flavour. If they don't taste great plain, with nothing on them, simply smoked, then having to doctor them up with sauces to make up for it is just not the way it should be done. The Cole slaw....man.....it all depends on where in the Cole slaw bucket they are at because sometimes it can be the nice Cole slaw they have, other times they are scraping the bottom of the barrel and what you get is a sloppy wet mess of grated cabbage. Can't even say it feels like a good ol' BBQ atmosphere. The potato salad at Bandana's has always been nice, the employees, for the most part, at this location have been attentive and friendly. We've given Bandana's quite a few visits, this location a good 3 to 4 times, but I think this last visit will be just that - our last visit. In this town there are just too many other choices for BBQ. Sorry Bandana's, we've given you more than a fair chance!
