We've been coming here for years because the food is really good. We've tried several things on the menu but I tend to stick with the pulled pork sandwich meal. It comes with two sides for $9, so it's a great value and you get a lot for your money. The pork is always tender, full of flavor and is never dry. The potato salad is a tasty mayo based recipe. The baked beans are good, as are the green beans. I'm not a fan of coleslaw or cucumbers but my husband says the coleslaw is great and he really likes the cucumber salad as well. Seasonally, he also offers white chicken chili which is excellent. There's nothing fancy about this place, but the staff is friendly, the food is good and the prices are very reasonable. Well I want to start off by saying It's definitely a great spot. I would totally recommend giving it a try! I got the pulled port sandwich dinner and I really enjoyed it. I got it with green beans and potato salad and both sides were perfect. The port was juicy and tender. Full of flavor! They even give it to you with the buns seperated so it doesn't got soggy!! Only critiques are that 1) I didn't taste much of a Smokey flavor. And 2) my Coworker got the corn on the cob and it was just basic corn. It needed to be fancied up. lol The service was awesome. Super kind people and honestly I didn't wait too long either. Pricing is AWESOME! Got my meal for under $10! I'll add some pictures when I return for the second time. I've driven by this stand by the Pink Elephant off 141&21 100s of times. I finally stopped for bbq. I'm beyond mad at myself for not stopping sooner! The pulled pork has so much flavor and juicy at the same time. The green beans were cooked perfectly and just the right amount of ham and flavor. The portions are generous. Even my 6yr old said the hot dog was the best she's ever had lol I can't wait to try the white chicken chili, the smoked turkey legs and the ribs. I'm 100% an addict now of this place. Great flavored smoked meat, but other than the excellent white chicken chili... the other sides leave me wanting more of the meat & chili was my impression of this BBQ pit tent with no seating next to a Pink Elephant & gas station. Two brothers were there running the business. The quality shows the guys really care about the smoked meat. While I missed the seared grill flavor, the tenderness & smoke flavor of their version had me in awe of the skillz. I was able to pull the pork apart with a plastic fork yet was not overcooked. Again, I was highly impressed by the amount of meat for the price. I, myself, went to order for the second lunch. I am glad because I saw "white chicken chili". When I said something about it... The guy in an apologetic tone stated he knows that chili does not belong in a smoke house. However, he agreed to offer it because his wife won an award for it. SERIOUSLY, F tradition & get the chili. We've gotten food from here twice, after hearing folks raving about it. We were not disappointed. First time, I got ribs. DH got pulled pork and a burger. The ribs were fantastic. Hands down, great. DH said the burger was nothing special, but, he loved the pulled pork. This time, he got pulled pork again and I got the 1/2 chicken. Again, everything tender and moist. We're big fans. Visited this place a few times over the past few years, it never was worth driving out of my way to eat there. Last visit was May 28, 2020. Now things are overpriced and quality and serving sizes have suffered. The rib tips aren't rib tips anymore; they are the tips of rib tips or just tiny cuts of pork steak, I'm not sure. I would have welcomed some gristle because then I would have known for sure the cut was from somewhere near a pig's ribs. My brat was overcooked to the point of being brat jerky. The jalapeno brat was OK, 3 stars for it. All in all, I used to could and would, but now I don't and won't. M'lady says she doesn't want to ever go there again. Surprised to find this place open between Christmas and New Year especially with temps in the teens. Picked up 3 bbq pork steaks. These are about 1 inch thick and each weighs about a pound. The meat falls off the bone and taste great. 3 steaks for $23 with tax is cheap. Fed 7 people and have plenty leftover. I may use the leftovers to make pork nachos for New Years. With smoked meat running at least $15 a pound in North Texas I find this place a tasty deal. They have burgers and other meats along with a great variety of sides. I just stopped at Pick-A-Bone for the first time this afternoon, after church. All I can say is, why have I waited this long to try this place? A big full rack of pork ribs with an excellent rub and smoke with four sides for a touch more than I would pay for fast food for my wife and me and there is still some left over. I've had the opportunity to travel quite a bit and enjoy barbecue all over the south. Who would have thought that the best ribs around are minutes from my home. I told my kids to enjoy the ribs without sauce at first to really get the taste of the rub and the smoke then add sauce as they like.
