2/5 Smoky Moe's BBQ was unfortunately underwhelming. The vegan rib platter was extremely dry, while the brisket was slightly dry but had decent flavor. The corn was chewy and kept getting stuck in my teeth, and the garlic bread had virtually no garlic flavor. The potato salad was good, and both the sweet BBQ and habanero sauces were highlights. We ordered a lot of food - Full order of Pulled Pork Nachos, Pulled Pork Platter, Mac & Cheese, Spicy Buttered Corn, and Broccoli Casserole. The full order of nachos were served on a serving tray (lined with paper), about a large bags worth of chips, Baked Beans, cheese sauce, red onions, jalapeños and pulled pork. This itself was a ton of food! The chips tasted a little stale, and cheese sauce tasted like it was out of a can. There were plenty of toppings to go with all of those chips. The pulled pork was lean and tender. The spicy buttered corn was tasty and flavorful. The mac and cheese was very cheesy, made with multiple cheeses. The decor was like a rustic saloon, and it was clean with plenty of tables. We were in the mood for some barbecue so decided to give Smokke Mo's a try. We like to get a variety and just split it so we can try everything. We opted to get the full order of nachos. This was huge! The guy behind the counter warned us that it was big and we figured well,we can always just take it home if we don't finish it. We also ordered the pulled pork platter for our sides we opted for the broccoli casserole and the butter corn and macaroni and cheese. I had heard wonderful things about their macaroni cheese so I thought I would give that a try. The pulled pork was pretty tasty and they offered a big variety of sauces to choose from. The macaroni and cheese had several different cheeses in it and was definitely gooey. The broccoli casserole was OK. Not sure I would opt for that one again. Maybe it just seemed like it had been sitting there for quite a while. The nachos were good. They had lots of gooey cheese jalapeños I believe baked beans and pulled pork on them. The restaurant was cutely decorated kind of like an old-time western place. The staff was very nice and helped us with our selections. came in one day after leaving work, they had pork steaks as they're special, but I had to try the brisket and the pulled pork, which is absolutely amazing. The 4-5 different sauces ahead were really good. The house barbecue sauce was really damn good. I still wanna go back and try a pork steak (that's the thing here it sounds like) but this seems like a good solid barbecue spot. Been into Smokee Mo's a lot over the years but first review. First, the staff is awesome! High energy and everyone seems to enjoy what they do. Once thru the line and at our table we get asked regularly if we need anything additional...such a customer-focused thing to do. I think we've had everything on the menu except the pork steak...sells out fast. Tonight was brisket and baby backs. Portions are big and both were outstanding. All the sides rock and are big. The bbq corn is a sleeper, give it a try it's fantastic. And make sure you try a variety of their sauces, wow. Can't speak to dessert. While they look great we're always too stuffed to even split something. This restaurant is a gem, love it and look forward to getting there early enough some day to get a pork steak! read more

I don't know....I'm sort of over this place. The ribs are hit and miss. The first few times I ate there the ribs were absulotely amazing. The last two times including today, they weren't great. Just too charred. It's like there is a hard shell of char across the entire slab. You can hardly even cut through it. When ordering I almost mentioned "can you pick one out that's not so charred?". But I didn't. Maybe it would've made a difference maybe not. Maybe it's something to do with the time of day? This was about 3:39 on a Sunday....and last time as maybe 1:30-2pm. I could see if maybe it was 6pm or so. It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you pay $33 for a full slab and they are not absolutely amazing from the first rib to the last. Took half home to take for lunch tomorrow but honestly I'm not sure I'll eat them. On a brighter note, the pork steak is great. And the sides, are all really good. We tried smokes mo's back when they first opened and weren't impressed. Since the. We have had it a few parties and it was really good but hadn't been back ourselves until tonight. We stopped in for take out and it was fabulous. It was about 7pm and we decided to get the meat platter with 5 meats and 2 sides. This was a lot of meat!! A big serving of pulled pork, 3-4 slices of brisket and turkey, 4 ribs and 2 sausages. We opted to add 2 additional sides. We got macaroni and cheese, cheesy potatoes,, broccoli cheese casserole, and cole slaw. All were great, except I wasn't a big fan of the cole slaw. I liked the small chop to the cabbage and veg, but the dressing was in between creamy and vinegar. The only other thing I wasn't a fan of was their original bbq sauce. It was really really sweet. I liked the Carolina mustard sauce better. We will definitely be back. read more

First of all, the staff is amazing! Super friendly, greeted us the moment we walked in and answered my many questions without hesitation. We ordered almost every meat so that we had the opportunity to give it a fair shake. The ribs: tender, fall off the bone and nicely seasoned with a heavy smoke flavor. Pulled pork: moist, well seasoned and full of smoked flavor. Pork steak: this is a cut of meat that I absolutely judge bbq places for. This pork steak did not disappoint. It was plastic fork tender, seasoned nicely and full of flavor. Smoked turkey: I'm not normally a fan of turkey from bbq restaurants, but this was a pleasant surprise. It was moist and full of flavor and I'm really glad I tried it. Brisket: just like with the turkey, I'm not usually a fan of brisket. This one wasn't bad, it just wasn't my favorite meat. On the positive side their brisket is not fatty like other places, so I appreciated that. Burnt pork ends: they were a little dry but otherwise excellent. We weren't crazy about most of the sides, with exception to the collard greens. Those greens were fantastic. The kind you'd expect to find in a good soul food restaurant. Full of flavor and just a pinch of kick. I would go back for those alone. We also tried the baked beans, potato salad and bbq corn. The beans and potato salad were okay, but that's about it. I'm pretty sure they use frozen corn for the bbq corn. It would have been better with canned corn, but it would have been excellent if they had used fresh corn. The flavor was there but the texture was off. I spent about $60 for lunch for two, however we have more than enough left over for dinner tonight and probably lunch tomorrow so I feel like we got a lot of food for the money. Overall, I would definitely go back but next time I'll stick to collards as my only side. read more

I ordered the pork steak only, no sides, which is priced at $10 online. When I picked up my order, they charged me $17+ for a pork steak only. And they didn't bother giving me a container or a plate. They just wrapped it in foil as seen in the photo. They refused to match the pricing on the website. Bait & switch or just poor management? I'm thinking the latter. Quick stop, I was meeting a friend on his way south and trying to eat low carb. The window tinting was so heavy that driving up, I wasn't sure if they were open or not. Then, they even have signs on the doors saying tom pull hard, because they are heavy doors. I appreciated the warning.
