Oh wow...I can't believe no one else has reviewed this. Head's General Store is one of the longest standing places in the county, which is tucked away in the isolated yet historical village of St. Albans. I went there (but not inside since it closed early) two years ago to get a picture of their stl250 cake. Just the other day, I ventured back there and they still have their cake. This time around, I went inside and discovered it was more than a general store. It was a restaurant with a full menu! The guy who owns it also owns Annie Gunn's and some smokehouse in Chesterfield. They sell country-like meals, and on the weekends they sell Pappy's Smokehouse food. It was a year ago when they started doing this. What I like most about this place is the history as well as the historical places surrounding it. Just two doors down is the Meriwether Lewis house and the Tavern Cave where Lewis nearly fell to his death. The prices aren't really reasonable, but you can expect that from a place that's fair away from the city and suburbs. A lot of locals and, I'm assuming, golfers come in and get their grub on here. I had a slice of apple pie with cinnamon ice cream on top. Good stuff! They also sell Fitz's soda in addition to Coke/Pepsi. The only real downer is I was not able to get any Internet service, and the workers said there was no wi-fi. I would have checked in if I could. If you're just wondering on through St. Alban's in the daytime, check this place out. You'll be glad that you did.

Great selection of prepaid meals and only the highest quality foods. But the people there are the best part.

I love the "feel" of Head's Store, and the food is amazing. Perfect setting on a beautiful lake in GORGEOUS St. Albans.

Chandler Hill's wine dinners are wonderful... fantastic food and location, paired with wonderful wines; enjoyed with my wonderful wife and sometimes with other couples... these dinners let you get away from it all... so close to home... if Manchester extended straight west, we would be 10-15 miles away; instead we enjoy the beauty of the the hills and curves of Highway 94... such a nice drive... to a great winery with fantastic views... on a property next to that which Daniel Boone owned... to a property where a former slave, Joseph Chandler, worked the land as a free man... - - - All can attend the wine dinners...Chandler Hill's Wine Club members can attend at a discounted price... - - - Tonight's dinner was hosted by Scott and the Chef, a fantastic wait staff (Carrie, Ross!!) and kitchen crew... thank you to each and all! The dinner... five courses, all paired with wines from Northern California to Washington: First Course: Candied Chinook salmon (smoked on low heat ~250 and brushed with maple syrup every 5-10 minutes), crisp latke, nori creme fraiche (cream similar to sour crème but not sour, but tasty!), and salmon roe Wine: T. Food menu has great options from buffalo dip and sweet pickles which we ordered to pizza, salads , chips etc. Wine tastings are available in different oz choices, apparel and souvenirs available for purchase. Private parking. Plenty of seating outside with patio tables included as well. My only complaint was the sun exposure. Umbrellas were tied down due to wind per staff, stated it's a liability to have umbrellas up on windy days. I wish they had another option available for outdoor seating on those days , considering a band was playing but I left early due to being uncomfortable in the heat. This venue was very picturesque and views were amazing. Check website for pricing, menu, events, days and hours of operation.

I also really enjoyed the lemon and blueberry wine slushie along with the buffalo chicken dip and chips both were delicious. The only downside was the service experience. My food order took an unusually long time, and when I finally checked on it, the cashier had forgotten to put the order in. It was also a very hot day, and the patio umbrellas weren't opened because it was "breezy," which made sitting outside pretty uncomfortable in the heat. Overall, the views, music, and drinks made it a memorable stop, but better organization and a little more attention to guest comfort would've made the experience much better.

I love an authentic Route 66 stop, and this is certainly one of those. From the road, it's difficult to tell how big the place actually is. Once inside, it opens up and really shares its character. We went on a Thursday evening, and it was packed, but not uncomfortable. There was plenty of room for everyone. Our server was friendly and efficient, and she seemed genuinely invested in customer experiences. Our food was outstanding, and there was plenty of it! We even had room for dessert: a chocolate chip cookie and ice cream. It was the size of a dinner plate! This was an outstanding indulgence, and I can't wait to have another one, as soon as my glycemic index allows. LOL The restrooms were pretty darn rough. Urine all over the floor, overflowing trash can, filthy toilet, etc., gave the impression that it hadn't been cleaned since the Route 66 days. Here, I am not focusing on that, since it's not what we came here for. Our overall experience was fantastic and memorable. We look forward to returning to this special historic establishment.

Unfortunately, they allowed people to park under it, so my grandmother had to get out of the car in the rain, and the rest of us ended up getting soaked as well. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and we'll likely choose a different restaurant in the future.
